the only ones remotely fun are older arcadey titles. The new simulation realistic ones are total soulless shit.

I've been playing Gran Turismo 3, I like the core gameplay mechanics but it seems like I'm supposed to grind out the easy races over and over again to be able to afford a better car which is fricked up

That's why you play GT4 and let the AI driver win some lucrative races at 4x speed.

      >seems like I'm supposed to grind out the easy races over and over again
If you mean the clubman cup or sunday cup races that is the worst thing you can do to make to make money and get started. I'll give you a decently quick path to follow
Assuming that you didn't buy a Mazda Roadster as your starter car your starting path should go like this
      >Complete Sunday Cup
Sell the AE86 for a bit of extra money since it isnt a unique paint scheme
      >Complete Clubman Cup
Use the Mazda Roadster prize car from that, Add a stage 1 turbo for alot of power for real cheap (Keep the car too because it has unique paint)
      >Complete Spider & Roadster
Here you'll get another Mazda Roadster prize car, keep it naturally aspirated this time and use it for the 1st race of Race of NA Sport. After this rush through B license and just get all bronzes and move on to racing again
      >Race of NA Sports
The 1st race @ Apricot Hill is your best money maker this early in the game. Use it as the stepping stone for your next car purchase
And the rest is up to you

I just max out a supra for the turbo cup and do the one easy turbo race thats just 3 laps of a circle for 10k, takes less than 2 minutes with the car setup right and its pretty mindless until you can afford a variety of builds for the other races

Any particular reason you're playing a janky PS2 version of Undercover instead of the PC one? IIRC there's several big mods to make it look and handle tolerable at least.

I know that. PS2/Wii version is basically an official low cost asset flip with Carbon as a basis.
The question still stands though, but to avoid confusion I'll reiterate. What made you prefer this version of Undercover?

          No shit sherlock

          >What made you prefer this version of Undercover?
I didn't even say I preferred it. I'm playing it because I haven't played it before. And it's better than the PC version.

sure but why are you trying to sell them on racing games with undercover, that game fricking sucks eggs

          >sucks eggs

It's built on MW/Carbon core but has more bugs and is broken, but it's broken in fun way.
Compared to PSP/Wii/PS2 version, PC/Xbox360/PS3 version sucks because it's broken as frick and borderline unplayable half the time.

Just waiting for My Winter Car currently, My Summer Car did building up and maintaining a shitbox perfectly and it's all I've been looking for in car games ever since, too bad there is nothing else quite like it, every game just hands you supercars straight away and has no real progression.

ok I'm gonna post some of my recent favorites. I only had a GameCube growing up so I've discovered many awesome racers after beginning to emulate in the last couple years. starting with GT Cube! perfect mix of arcade and sim

Project Enthusia is underrated. it's campaign mode systems are kind bad but the driving and the game itself is great. It's easily one of the most realistic sims even to this day. oh and one more thing
SAVE STATES ARE THE ONLY WAY TO PLAY SIMS

in Forza Horizon you have a rewind button, save states work the same in this game. without them you'd basically never get good at driving and youd lose every race with their fatigue system. and with emulation you can easily get widescreen and enhanced graphics.

the car selection is great too.

I liked TDU and TDU2. Are there any similar games worth playing?

      Anonymous

Not much to choose from, mainly Forza Horizon and The Crew Motorfest, both are more of an action-racing games than driving-racing TDU was.
And also TDU Solar Crown in september but its map is going to be even smaller than Ibiza.
