All you gays who play Pokemon for the single player would probably be better off looking into other, similar RPGs focused on being a single player experience.
Shin Megami Tensei V is the best place to start. 60 hour main game, slaps. Works for everyone looking for something to play between now and November.

still cancer to play on yuzu, so for now it's IV, III and p3/4 and etrian odyssey for me, but i second this guy
Honestly, V is pretty mid story wise compared to IV. Exploration and QoL is a massive step up though. I can't even play III anymore.
SMTs monster design has always slapped, arguably as hard as pokemon, it just doesn't go for the accessible market, nor play the quantity game.
Most of the whining homosexuals on this board are adults who would get into it anyway.
I dropped V at the demon castle due to the environments just feeling so bland compared to IV, and I didn’t fully understand the Magatsuhi system to make boss fights easier. Yes there’s a fairy forest and I believe the last few areas look nice but going from yellow desert to red desert to white desert, each with their own flavor of ruined buildings felt boring. I do agree that the actual exploration improved a lot, most of the maps in IV were relatively straightforward.
>I dropped V at the demon castle due to the environments just feeling so bland compared to IV
Same. It's all deserts and differently colored square dungeons, no variety at all.
The game also ran like shit so I'm waiting for the inevitable PC port. And also at least early on Normal mode was too easy and Hard was too hard, I fricking hate it when a JRPG is like this. SMT3 felt pretty challenging in Normal with no need to bump it up so it was disappointing.
Not the biggest fan of the designs. It's like digimon, you either evolve it into a weird ugly human or gimp yourself.
At least you can use the shitmon you like through the main campaign.
>"SMTs monster design has always slapped"
>posts Zeus
Pic not related, I hope. SMT has some amazing designs but that isn't one of them.
Don't listen to that anon, there are plenty of cool designs that aren't humans. A lot of the best ones are deities with human forms but because of the way the fusion mechanics work you can make a "weaker" demon that is just as powerful as the best ones, the only thing you'll miss out on are unique skills.
>Muh Zeus is bad cause it looks like tokusatsu villain
Nah, go grow a pair. It is great BECAUSE it looks like tokusatsu villain.
Here's the best one
>Amon got shafted hard by a saber - actually happened- in strange journey despite being in the fricking cover
>no way to get him or at least fight him
>turned out: this Black person only shows up in NG+, pass midgame THEN backtrack your sorry ass to where he was shafted to unlock him
Someone there hated this owl face
But that's what makes him great, being one of the few mons that is still viable endgame. Try Anahita if you want a level 20 mon that is forgotten literally the next level after.
Got a problem with FANGJOKER?
Etrian odyssey V was the first time id played a game like it and it was very fricking fun
The main appeal of Pokemon are the monster designs, and nothing from SMT even compares to something like Gardevoir or Lucario.
>Using Lucario the Furry israelite as a example as a " good monster design "
You are proving OP's point homosexual.
Lucario is one of the ugliest character designs in history.
Genuinely the worst and dumbest take I’ve ever seen on this board. Impressive.
>Lucario
>Implying what edgy fursona based on Anubis is somehow better than Anubis himself
How pathetic
>Nine
>The overworld model is running while looking up
>the moment he stopped, immediately sits down
This shit is funny
This is the worst post ever and I genuinely hate pokegays who don't know shit talk about talk about other games
Rangda is fricking cute and I am her only fan
spwp
homie have you ever seen cleopatra?
JRPG is a garbage genre, I only tolerate it in pokémon for the creatures.
This. I just like to relive that old cartoon I watched.
Shit taste
Why would i play tranime garbage, recommend better game you fat neckbeard
I play pokemon for the single-player, but I only play shoot 'em ups and puzzle games for the most part. Most JRPGs are too long for me, I get burned out of them easily. If I want to experience a story I'd rather skip the gameplay and read a visual novel or book. Grandia I and II are great though, my favorites.
Pokemon is a casual RPG, and that works well enough for me.
I used to only play Pokémon, but thanks to Devil Survivor I branched out and now enjoy all monster taming franchises
>Blog Incoming:
I was honestly done with Pokemon but my son was born Dec 2020 and when he got older he was a b***h to put to sleep. he wanted me to hold him while he cried and fought his sleep so in March 2021 I bought a switch as an excuse to play it while walking around holding him to put him to sleep.
Even before he was born it was hell to complete games and now that I'm on my second kid it feels like the only thing that I CAN play are Pokemon games because they require so little mental processing and my brain doesn't need to pay attention to the stories. I want to finish Yakuza Like A Dragon so badly but it's stationary on my PC and I want to see what's going on in it. Been finishing the DLCs for SwSh and doing the post gfame stuff for PLA and it's so easy to put down and pickup in a way that Elden RIng and Yakuza, two games I want to play more of, aren't.
Sorry for the blog.
You can get a Steam Deck or, since they are hard to get, some kind of streaming android handheld (or a good smartphone controller) so you can locally stream to your PC and play those games portably.
Might help.
>but my son was born
Stopped reading there.
most monster tamers that arn't just pokemon clones have a fusion system, which is pretty fun to play around with; SMT , Digimon , Yo-Kai Watch ,ect.
the appeal of SMT is that you get to have tons of demons/persona's based on mythology & folklore of many diff cultures.
if for some reason you'd enjoy having your starter mon die of old age, play monster rancher
SMTV frickin sucks though. Persona 5 Royal is both more beginner-friendly and just a mechanically better, more complete Megaten for people who want to try it out.
>literally copy paste opinion from IGN
Get the frick off this site.
My backlog is so huge especially because there are some games I want to plat / 100%
Current games to plat
- all kh games
- demon souls
- uncharted 1-3
- gravity rush 2
- spyro 1-3
- all arcane games (deathloop is done)
- maybe ff10
Games I want to 100%
- emerald (missing only the fricking bf), literally created a hoenn living dex ffs.
- platinum (bf + 100wins, nat dex)
- ss (new game)
- bw1 (nat dex + super doubles)
- bw2 (new game)
- xy oras (dunno where I am)
- sm (new game)
- usum (new game)
- swsh (dlc stuff)
- legends (everything postgame and dex)
- violet (dunno)
- vc games (dunno which ones)
Gonna work on a smogon fork for batlle tower shit with more than english language. But this will take some time
Look up Retro Achievements it might ruin your life.
I'm working on getting the Pokemon Crystal badge currently, already got Silver and Gold. Shit is grindy but has some fun challenges.
Lol they are fun, I will use some of them as a guide tho if I play vc games. But my goal for pokemon games are mostly just frontier or tower clones + full trainer card
It does and they are mostly just tedious. Kh1 is done and I basically played the game on proud with no cont no equip change until maleficient then I got really annoyed split the savefile and wrecked everything pretty easily.
Just my autism that wants to 100% on proud. Crit is just for doing story once. But kh2 e.g. is not that long.
>main story 25-30h
>10h for grinding everything to max
>x hours for shitty superbosses
>5-10 hours for diary stuff
>all kh games
For the sake of your sanity I hope that doesn't include Re:CoM.
re chain of memories isn't that bad yall are just exaggerating lol
every time I replay chain it needs to be the GBA version
its so easy to tell that RE was rushed out and its horribly balanced compared to the original
plus, the multiplayer in chain is fricking sick
There are definitely better games to play than Pokemon, though in my experience nothing really scratches the same itch. SMTV is a great JRPG but people who put it in the same category as Pokemon just because it also involves you collecting a team of monsters are missing the mark. The basic concept is similar but the mechanics are completely different, they're really not remotely similar games. Also, despite Pokemon having some truly bad writing, in my experience SMT's comes across even worse since it deals with such lofty concepts and still falls flat. V was a lot of fun but the story was a complete letdown, way more disappoining than any Pokemon narrative I've experienced. It's odd that SMT is such a better series in general but the writing is as bad or maybe even worse than Pokemon's. Whenever anyone says we should get a more edgy, mature kind of Pokemon story I point them toward SMT to demonstrate how easy it is to frick that up.
What do you think SMT does wrong with the writing? The way I view SMT’s story is humans getting thrusted into extreme situations, and as a result having to take extreme measures in order to survive or change the world into what they see as ideal.
NTA but the problem with SMT's major problem is that ultimately pretty much every game just boils down to "neutral/compromise good" and does so by presenting law and chaos in such a horrifically awful light that no reasonable person would ever pick them/making neutral endings be the 'best' endings. Most of the settings in the series also don't really adhere to any kind of structure and tend to have weird schizo fantasy worldbuilding where things just happen because they do and usually for the purposes of driving the law/chaos theme home rather than making any real sense (the Yamato Reactor sequence in 4 for instance).
That being said hard disagree its writing is anywhere comparable to Pokemon. At the very least SMT sticks to coherent themes and ideas, every Pokemon plot is literally just "shove in random generic JRPG plot even if it clashes with the setting really badly and has no reasonable basis", Gens 4 and 6 being most guilty of this.
>NTA but the problem with SMT's major problem is that ultimately pretty much every game just boils down to "neutral/compromise good" and does so by presenting law and chaos in such a horrifically awful light that no reasonable person would ever pick them/making neutral endings be the 'best' endings
Devil Survivor doesn't have this problem. Law and Chaos are both great in Devil Survivor. In fact Neutral kind of sucks ass compared to them.
Law: Become the Messiah and help establish God's rule over the Earth. God isn't really a dick in Devil Suvivor and you can convince sinners to repent instead of letting angels kill them so it's a pretty chill deal.
Chaos: Become Overlord and lead a demon army against God. You can either kill those who oppose you, making people fear you but eventually bowing to you, or be a king Overlord, making the people stand behind you against God. Either way, you intend on keeping humanity safe and never sick demons on humans, way better than Strange Joruney's Chaos ending.
Neutral 1: Run away from the problem, angels are pissed off, demons run free, bad ending.
Neutral 2: Give control over demons to the government. lol, lmao
Neutral 3: Send demons away, things go back to normal. Boring.
Devil Survivor I think has the opposite problem in that Law and Chaos are portrayed way too positively over Neutral. It also I think has the bigger problem in that the alignments and the lofty concepts being thrown around aren't explored, they're just given better reps this time around. There's functionally barely a difference between creating God's kingdom on Earth and being omnipotent good and taking over God's throne so you can being omnipotent good, it just depends on what side you take on Naoya's incel ranting.
Ideally having a game explore in-depth the failings and successes of each alignment and how it relates to faith/belief would be the strongest way to approach what the series wants to portray. It's just easier to have the Neutral guy = good and then you go punch god, who's just unabashedly and overtly evil for no real reason, in the face.
Because objectively even in that scenario, neutral 3 would be the best decision to make in our world. The makers of SMT's intention is not to radicalize people.
>Whenever anyone says we should get a more edgy, mature kind of Pokemon story I point them toward SMT to demonstrate how easy it is to frick that up.
Have you played Strange Journey
single player makes me depressed. i need human contact even if virtual
They're too long, simple as. I just get bored.
Don't care for your shilling weeb.
I like simple, cute designs. SMT doesn't really have that so I'm not interested.
Depends what you mean by cute
SMTV kind of sucks honestly. I love the gameplay but I can't stand anything else. The characters, the environments, and a lot of the music except some of the boss themes just don't do it for me.
I got into SMT through Devil Survivor and I really recommend it. Play the Overclocked version. The lockdown scenario with society falling apart is a lot more interesting, the choices you make are pretty important, and the game has great Law and Chaos endings, some of the best in the series. Even if its a spinoff the gameplay is still great.
How dare you post such Soul
Devil Survivor is top tier Megaten.
Dunno why people keep comparing SMT to Pokemon. DQM is much closer to Pokemon.
>Shin Megami Tensei V is the best place to start. 60 hour main game, slaps.
The first two acts are great and then decent.
But the third act really shat the bed. The last area is probably the worst design in the franchise.
They should start with a Megami Ibunroku Persona first, since that's babymode SMT.
Then go to either 3 or 4A.
5 was better than 4, but it had a very bad third act.
>start with a Megami Ibunroku Persona first
>Megami Ibunroku Persona
Nah, frick this shit.
>Grid system was ultimate cancer
>Cancerous censorship/Murricanising in PS1 version
>Cancerous new OST and removal of shitton of old OST in PSP version
>Shitty plot
>Lamest and easiest dungeons aside from last one
Horrible taste
SMTV is kind of a shitty game tbh, and this is coming from someone who's played Megaten games in general. That being said, Pokegays should really try more than one series of games
>Pokemon has basically given up on having dungeons.
>SMT5 only has 3 dungeons, and 2 of them are shit.
god i miss dungeon crawling
>no Etrian Odyssey on Switch
Life is suffering.
any day now, surely
I recently 100% that game. All souls, all items, all rare drops, and <4 minutes boss rush. Now I only need to play Julius, and I'm done.
I'm playing megaman battle network
The only thing I hate about these games is the "find this item" part of the game, since most of the time it's more of a fight against rng and a test of your patience
Man shut yo b***h ass up. All my homies play Dinosaur Planet on the Nintendo 64.
JRPGs are definitely not for me, pokemon is just too easy. Sitting down and booting up the game to get good at it is a completely different kind of time investment than pulling up /vp/ while taking a shit. Often times I ghost the game for so long that when I come back to it I forget my team strategy, what the items do, and even the plot itself. Still, I saw Marsh's video on SMT1 and that game was so crazy I wanted to play an SMT game. Accidentally ended up downloading a ROM of Apocalypse instead of the original IV. Fun for a while, but gets pretty boring afterwards. My only jrpg achievement is beating the main story of P4 a long time ago so this time I got Persona 2 on my phone. Been a better experience than Apocalypse so far. I have a small vacation coming in a few weeks so during that time I wanna finish P2 and maybe play Nocturne since the main guy looks so edgy. Still I'll probably never play games like Chrono Trigger, FF, Souls etc.
>I wanna finish P2
Don’t forget what P2 is actually consists of two whole games tho
>finished Strange Journey Redux
What a trip… wish gamefreak did something like it but they won’t
I've seen a lot of people shit on redux for years new shit added but then I look at bdsp and realize it could always be way worse
i don't like RPGs in general anon, but pokemon scratches just the autistic part of me that loves collecting things, history and biology
that's why I would recommend any animal crossing (except for the last one) if someone wants something in-between
Xenoblade chronicles and maybe spectrobes Beyonce the portals are maybe other good ones
but I probably recommend some 3d platformers above everything if you just want to have fun (Ratchet, Jak, Spyro, Crash, the 3d marios)
Metal gear Solid is algo a good franchise to get invested in
And Prey (the 2017 game) is probably one of the best games and innovative from the last 10 years or so
I feel that.
I recommend the fossil fighters series. First two are great but the third is sorely lacking. But if you like cars then it might be good for you.
Also Monsterhunter stories2, it's on pc and switch. The combat is much more intense than pokemon but it still kinda has that autistic collectathon feel. I'd love a pokemon game that tries that combat style.
I'm a massive fan of monster catching games but so many of them are either pokemon clones, or incredibly under developed. Trying to fix what doesn't need fixing y'know?
They either stick to close to the pokemon formula, or try to hard to make a competative pokemon and miss the point entirely. Very few are willing to spread there wings and try to stand on there own.
I want a new fossil fighters so bad.
>I want a new fossil fighters so bad.
the word on the street since last year, a list was leaked of bunch of new games coming to the switch…. Including Fossil Fighter collection of sort
Why holding on that rumor? 1 some games listed were confirmed 2 this game is extremely niche and it’s unlikely someone will lie about it
Since you got a nice digit, pray right now
I am hoping we will get SOMETHING!
Even if it's just a port to the switch i'd be quite happy. I think that Fossil fighters really deserves another chance.
I just hope it's not a port of frontier.
First 2, skip the third.
Also Monsterhunter stories, is a monster catching game. Not traditional MH. You raid monster nests steal there eggs and turn them into your pets. You ride around on them and fight monsters side by side in a rock paper scissors style combat system.
While the Pet has it's own AI you can influence it to do attacks you want, and monsters normally come in 3 styles of Attack, speed, or technical.
Really fun. The only downside about the game is it works on a quality system. So no matter how much you love your starter. You will eventually have to swap them out because a quality 3 monster is just trash compared to a quality 4. A thing i hope they address in the future games.
I'll give it a try then!
thank you anon
And again, to everyone, I recommend all of those games I previously mentioned
Specially the PS2 platformers, metal gear solid 3, spectrobes 2 (beyond the portals) and animal crossing new leaf (or even wild world)
hmm, never tried fossil fighters, but maybe I'll give it a chance
And YES definetely Monster Hunter is something that if you liked legends arceus you are going to enjoy
last time I played tri ultimate, but I'm not sure
>I want a new fossil fighters so bad.
I feel you, anon. ;_;
>leaked of bunch of new games coming to the switch…. Including Fossil Fighter collection of sort
Think I remember reading about that once sometime last year on Twitter. I highly doubt it'll happen, but we'll see.
And if they keep Frontier out of this supposed collection, I'll be very happy.
ocasionally i still search for news on the game but nothing yet.
I respect the smt games but i only like a few of the monsters, which are shit tier ones.
Are there any good modern monster collecting games?
I miss medabots.
>I miss medabots.
I liked the show when it aired on Fox. Were the games decent?
yes
For me it's Spectrobes. I miss Spectrobes so much.
dragon warrior monsters was pretty good
legends arceus does exist
I play tons of other games, including the smt series.
I beat nocturne as a fricking 12 year old, and I've even beaten those atrocious devil children smt spin offs.
No other game really has the same feeling in terms of worldbuilding or characters as PMD
>60 hour gameplay means the game is good
I spent more than 999:59 hours on Pokemon Shield, does that mean Pokemon Shield is at least 130 times more enjoyable than Megami Tensei?
>I spent more than 999:59 hours on Pokemon Shield
I feel sorry for you, anon... I really do..
I feel sorry for you too anon... I really do...
>pokegay thinks spending 1000 hours of his life on any pokémon game, let alone the most kid-friendly up to date, is somehow something to be proud about
I'm no psychiatrist nor anything like that but this here sounds like a clear case of Stockholm Syndrome.
>spending hours playing megami tensei is good
>spending hours playing pokemon is bad
You don't even try to hide your pristine virginity huh? In fact, it sound like you are so proud of it. I feel truly sorry for you anon.
You could at least play a good Pokemon game.
>spending hours playing good game is good
>spending hours playing bad game is bad
Simple as.
Then why are you spending your time playing bad games like megami?
>pokegay thinks his taste holds any value when judging what constitutes a good or bad game
Your only defense is to make assumptions instead of actually addressing the glaring issues that have been corrupting mainline pokémon for the past 10 years. Your opinion means nothing. Cope, dilate, etc.
That's kind of sad anon, hope being a Pokemon Master got you a quirky nerd girlfriend
For me, it’s Oni.
>For me, it’s Oni.
But which one tho?
For the idiots that are too stupid notice. Fossils Fighters is owned and somewhat developed by Nintendo. And it was Nintendo decision to frick up Frontier
Given that fact that Nintendo is an anal company that like drop franchises (Advance Wars, F-Zero) for other in the same genre (FE, Mario kart).
Why would they keep Fossils Fighters when Pokemon make them bank in the same genre?
Probably not nintendo.
Nintendo's whole gimick, is doing the exact same thing, over and over and over again as long as it sells.
Frontier was probably the people behind it wanting to do something else and just doing a shit job at it.
The game wouldn't have even been that bad if it wasnt for the piss poor AI and that stupid pikachu trex.
Because you could have Two pokemon series, for double the money.
Oh boy, two cakes.
>Because you could have Two pokemon series, for double the money.
Same could be said about F-Zero and Advance Wars. Yet they only focus on Mario Kart and Fire emblem
>Nintendo's whole gimick, is doing the exact same thing, over and over and over again as long as it sells.
I dunno, Nintendo is definitely conservative with how it treats its properties but just compare what Pokemon did when jumping to the Switch with where Zelda and Mario went. Imagine FE still doing what it did on the GBA
>Nintendo's whole gimick, is doing the exact same thing, over and over and over again as long as it sells.
Then why does Pokemon have so many stupid gimmicks?
I liked MMBN3.
but smt 5 is mid tho °=°
I got bored of pokemon after sword and shield and I tried dragon quest XI out of curiosity.
I never looked back and went straight for more dragon quest, final fantasy, smt and mega man battle network. The old games have their charm, but the pokemon mainline series as a whole is shit, the only saving grace of it are the pokemon themselves, but with the dexcut bullshit the new games kind of fall apart.
>most pokegays are afraid of playing something else
Many such cases… why is that? Is it autism?
maybe they came from Smash. They have the same issue
Smashgay here, started with 64. That's mostly a zoomer issue rather than a playerbase one. Most smash players over 25 years old are well versed in a variety of games.
> That's mostly a zoomer issue rather than a playerbase one.
Interesting observation. My zoomer brother only played FPS shit mainly in steam and never played anything else for years.
Last month I pushed him to try out Digimon survive for shits and giggles…. he converted to RPG over night it was unbelievable
Maybe zoomers need that good old push
It's a nintendogay thing in general I think, and it applies to a lot of smashgays too who seem to not care or know anything about other fighting games, despite occupying spaces with other fighter game communities. They always seemed oblivious to everything else
I like pokemon's single player specifically because it's un-JRPGlike. I hate JRPGs. Only good JRPG I've ever played that is a true JRPG is Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth/HM Complete
>un-JRPGlike
its 330 in the morning I hiave to be up in like 6 and a half hours for my weekly /tg/ shit, tldr:
- frick jrpgs, jrpgs as a genre suck dick and are boring slogs
- pokemon's single player is the only good thing about it because it's the least-jrpg jrpg on the market
- the only good jrpg ever made is digimon story complete
- eat my ass homosexualBlack person I'll stab you in the eye with a paperclip
Maybe you can actually explain what you think JRPG means in the morning.
Goodnight.
Japanese RPG.
>Turn-Based
>Overworld map where you have random encounters
>Tons of grinding
>Kill god and/or your father at the end of the game
>Tons of dialogue and cutscenes with vapid content not worth the read
Holy shit you’re actually moronic.
Go to bed.
have a nice day homosexual, JRPGs are trash.
It's impossible to talk about monster designs with pokemon fans because they think every series follows the same rules(that pokemon set up) and any deviation from it is seen as a failure to live up to said unagreed upon standards.
They may analyze Sugimori's style and understand a the basic organic and biological framework Pokemon is going for, but they don't leave that at the door when they look at Kenji Watanabe's or Kazuma Kaneko's styles and why they appeal to the core fanbase, or the thought process that goes behind its monsters, and don't have any context for any "good" or "bad" design in those games. It's why you'll always have people who'll never let the "digital" part of Digital Monsters get into their head, or a lot of the design choices that not just go into SMT, but different intentions in different games, differences between artists, or evolution of a single artist.
I mainly wrote this post just for myself
For example, you can't shit talk Pokemon with other's standards. Frosslass is a good design because it turns a folklore trope into something that you can imagine as part of the flora and fauna, SMT has several different goals depending on the demon but here's one example where it's more concerned with being literal with its depiction of myth. Japanese myth isn't really Dragon Quest's forte,Yokai Watch's look originally stems from Doraemon so its way more cute, and ygo just is what it is nowadays
I really liked these charts
Also frigimon isn't a yukionna. I believe there's a different, actual Mon for that.
Stop talking to Ganker posters and you'll get a more nuanced discussion.
Yeah Ganker sucks when you're not posting based on knee jerk reactions, but other places are either dead, hard to get into, or reddit
Yeah I didn't make it and I was looking for a another digimon to replace it, but thought I could use that pic to talk about how DQ does an ice woman
But Reddit is a great website for discussing niche hobbies.
Do other games have Heracross?
They have Hornbeet
?t=614
No
Are you okay with literal beetles
After thinking it through
ykw has the most frickable mons
>Not Angewomon
Horrible taste
The ykw one always gets me
What is the top right from
X-ros wars manga
Kenzoku-Miyuki would work even better here. Also can't forget about Juri in the D-Reaper, Kurata/Belphemon, biomerges, bio-hybrids, etc.
YKW dominates this
Wtf
>Shin Megami Tensei V is the best place to start
Sorry, I'm a normie and I dont know what is this shitty weeb game
Pokemon for adults.
>shin megami
Cringe weeb stuff. Get out of my website
A lot of other RPGs seem too edgy for me
I wish there were more that had the same whimsical/real world feeling of Pokemon as I don't really like high fantasy medieval based worlds
I played Earthbound, Dragon Quest and Chrono Trigger but I thought they were boring
>A lot of other RPGs seem too edgy for me
I hate nintendo gays so much
>I wish there were more that had the same whimsical/real world feeling of Pokemon as I don't really like high fantasy medieval based worlds
I do get this though, it's one of the best things pokemon has to offer. The best you can get of that in SMT is the Devil Summoner games
I already do play them. I just want Pokemon to improve in that regard because Showdown already exists for multiplayer.
/misc/ incel who never talked to a black person nor a zoomer despite him being on the verge of failing high school right now
Pokémon si just about catching cute little monsters, thats why Pokémon Go si still the most aucesfull Pokémon game
smt has better pokemon than pokemon's pokemon
smt v is a game with no story and no characters and every boss fight plays out exactly the same and every area looks exactly the same and every ending is the same and every reward for exploration is a korok seed or essence you already have and the only stat that matters in combat is what level you are.
literally mogged by fricking legends arceus. total embarassment, play any other smt game
You didn't play the game
back the frick off???
>literally mogged by fricking legends arceus
In which category? Because it's not graphics, music, art style, PLA's story is objectively worse, obviously gameplay wise PLA is worse. What's better?
its the graphics, music, art style, story, and gameplay
You might just be a mindbroken poketard then
it's not a compliment to legends arceus. smt v is just that shit. it's the swsh of smt, maybe even worse
I've played SMTV anon, PLA was far worse, didn't even finish it.
>it's the swsh of smt
Hell no.
Only one thing is kinda shitty inV and it’s obviously it’s story.
Anything besides that just perfected SMT gameplay
However SH2 really IS SwSh of SMT, lmao.
It removed frickton of things what makes SMT games actually good, such as negotiations, press turn system and even summoning demons as a whole
The story is not nearly as bad as some morons think it is. It's like people being unable to comprehend what Nocturne was about because it had limited scenes all over again. Then again smt is supposed to be niche, if the story doesn't filter people it's not smt.
SMT looks too satanic
I don't like that vibe
i dont play videogames anymore, i dont have time and videogames are expensive now build a pc too
I've been telling people to play Devil Survivor 1 for years because it's precisely the more realistic and edgier take on the Mons genre that Pokemon fans have been wanting.
Imagine if Pikachu had real personality like Jack Frost.
Every Jack Frost acts the same way
Every Pikachu is different
Checkmate
I played 10 hours of SMT IV and got stuck on Medusa and then never played it again.
Medusa is the final filter in IV. I haven't beaten IV but the people who said the game gets a lot easier after defeating Medusa were right.
I guess I'll try it again at some point, I liked the game a lot asides from Medusa filtering the frick out of me.
If you are doing a magic build all you need is a wind spell and some wind demons, with at least 1 dedicated to buffing and support with null elec. if you are doing a dex build, the same is true except you can play the role of support in that battle since you may not be at the point where you have enough luck to crit everything.
You barely even started the game
Based. Kill this entire board and the zoomer homosexuals with it
Good opportunity to shill Monster Rancher
Its available on Switch, 1 & 2 DX with a bunch of QOL changes.
Monster Rancher is based, these games can be tough as frick to actually finish though.
And there is a new monster rancher but with Ultraman Kaijus coming out this year that looks pretty good and plays the same.
>Cetitan and PLA-Palkia are both MR stolen designs
And I thought that ripping-off YW and Digimon's D-reapers for Gen7 was the lowest of low
That reminds me, I've been meaning to try out Demikids Light/Dark, as they're supposed to be somewhat Pokemon-like.
Maybe after I finish the last two endings of SMTV. Just have to get through the fourth area for the Law ending, then run through again for True Neutral and give the Demifiend a try.
The only other monster-collecting games I've enjoyed are Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, the first two Fossil Fighters, and various mobile-tier games like Crystal Monsters. I used to play the dragon and monster farming sims, but I haven't enjoyed those since I was still in high school.
I only wanna fug pokemon (and also some Digimons and other fantasy/vidya creatures like Nanaki & the Feylines)
