I finished nioh 2 recently and it was okay for the first 30 hours but started to suck later on because it fell into the same team ninja traps of having lame level design, constantly repeated enemies that just got higher stats, and the best way to win being the same couple of combos you toss out over and over

The bosses weren't bad at least

      >lame level design
It has one of the best individual level design among all modern arpgs, the frick you're talking about.

not even close, most levels are these linear slogs with things to find in them that require you to run all the way back to the start and begin combing again if you miss any. want the kodamas? frick you, get kodama sensor and pay close attention or spend 3 hours in each mission

not to mention nioh and nioh 2 both suffer from this ridiculous design philosophy of having levels that contain shortcuts and loop back a bit but all that gets erased if you exit the mission, making replays to get stuff like blueprints to craft specific gear from a 1% boss drop an exercise in pure tedium

Just uninstalled yesterday after beating the third boss, I've been really forcing myself to enjoy it to the point that it started to feel like a chore to play. They tried too hard to differentiate themselves from the Souls game but all the unique additions just made the combat worse to play.
I heard there's even more tacked on bullshit in Nioh 2 so no thanks, I might try their other games regardless but I'm not touching another Nioh title after this.
Shame because I really wanted to like it.

this is another issue that i just brought up, the player is capable of so many varied combos but only a few are really generally applicable and you use them to just beat down enemies that can do nothing but eat shit

          >most levels are these linear slogs
There's more non linearity in Nioh 2 level design than in any other level based arpg i can think of. Almost all levels have branching and alternative paths, secret routes via the wall mimics and rotating floors, shortcuts to get behind archers/ambushers and ambush them instead. There's also a shit ton of verticality and certain levels even incorporate puzzle elements like that rotating tower in the inverted temple.

Your brain when your entire view of the world is modeled by engagement bait tweets you saw reposted on /misc/ by actual morons.

I agree the shortcuts are pointless but almost all bosses in 2 have their own dedicated combat missions, only a few force you to run the entire level to grind them
          >want the kodamas? frick you, get kodama sensor and pay close attention or spend 3 hours in each mission
I still missed half of them with Kodama sensor, real frick you is having to collect them from scratch for each chapter AND on each difficulty, no idea what they were thinking there

I'm used to playing more defensive weapons like a pussy. If you say it's good then I'll keep at it.

I personally hate kusarigama and when im the one playing it, its probably the worst weapon in the game. Doesnt mean its objectively bad tho

Weapons in Nioh are honestly really well balanced, and everything is viable

U should try out all weapons tbh and unlock basic skills before you decide its shit, since some of them pretty much dont work until u have bunch of shit unlocked (like 2kat)

More of a classic action game heavily influenced by the Souls games and with a Diablo style loot system.
