the original prey is so fucking boring

      >"I did not want to call this game Prey," Colantonio said. "I had to say I wanted to anyway in front of journalists, which is not my pleasure. I hate to lie. And those are sales lies, it's not like a personal lie or whatever, but it still felt bad that I had to support a message I did not want. Not only me, but nobody in the team wanted to call this game Prey. Our game had nothing to do with Prey.

        >wet noodle combat
I've been told the weapons felt pretty powerful and bombastic. Is that not accurate?

not as in the guns aren't satisfying, just that combat as a whole is lame and repetitive

I have, many times. great game.

it's okay at best. it hasn't aged well, but I thought it was pretty meh even back at launch. I've tried replaying it a few times over the years since Prey 2017 but it's just.. really boring and the combat sucks.
the portal stuff was neat until you very quickly realized it was entirely scripted. and then Portal came out a year later and blew everyone away with far better portal tech.

I will never not be mad that the leave ending doesn't have a cutscene and proper ending screen, you just die after a short voice clip

Now that the lead dev came out and said naming it prey was a shit idea, I'd just like to say I told you gays so.

Pretty sure Arkane wanted to call it "Neuro Shock" or something along those lines, but Bethesda forced the Prey name on them because the copyright was running out.

Yes but the devs at Bethesda's gunpoint said WE LOVE THE NAME and gays in similar threads kept defending it being named prey, so this is me going neener neener neener

told us what? that Prey was a bad name for a game unrelated to the original? I've never seen anyone say otherwise.

Pretty sure Arkane wanted to call it "Neuro Shock" or something along those lines, but Bethesda forced the Prey name on them because the copyright was running out.

this isn't true, idk why people keep spreading it. they've said in a reddit AMA that they wanted to name it Typhon but then were very early on told by Bethesda that it'd be named Prey and there'd be no other options.

        >proceeds to reiterate almost everything I said VERBATIM with the exception of the name "Neuro Shock," which even I admitted I was unsure about when I said "or something along those lines"

I don't know what it is about Prey. On the surface, I like everything about it. The space ship design, the fact all the crew have names and you can track them all, the progression system and exploration, the artstyle, the crafting/scavenging system. Everything about it is cool; even the story is cool though the twist is easy as fuck to see coming. But for some reason, I just couldn't force myself to finish it. I'm not sure why. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would.

How far did you get? I felt the same way, but by the end I had become sick of running around the station and constantly dealing with enemies as I moved to-and-fro. Also, investing all your points in the human skills made the game so much more fun than the Typhon powers, so that might've reduced your enjoyment if you picked the latter

I mostly played with human powers up until I randomly tried to get the psychic powers because I saw later on there was permanent passive damage reduction, both to elements and physical damage, so I decided to start spec'ing into that since I had/could craft so many neuromods.

Then when the cutscene played that shows you falling to the ground and "unlocking" memories I instantly knew this would be related to the ending somehow and I pressed on despite it putting a bad taste in my mouth.

As far as story goes, I just got back to Alex's office after you do some shit in the power-plant of the station, the part that spawns new enemies there. I'm unsure how close I was to the end but maybe because they killed me a few times I just didn't feel like pressing on much.

I can't remember this part. Did you get to the part where some private security guy lands on the station with orders to kill everyone?

Yeah that's what I was talking about but I didn't want to spoil it for anyone reading lol

I decided on my first playthrough I would play it straight, human-centric Morgan who blows up the station like his recorded personality tells him to. I have no idea how far away I am from the end or whatever.

Yeah, you were pretty close to the end if I recall, so don't feel bad. You basically got to experience what the game had to offer

I did and it was too much of a bitch to kill respawning enemies with limited resources and a fucking annoying tiny inventory system that requires you to manually haul bags of garbage back to the recycler constantly to afford combat

still nothing, max inventory is fucking huge and I can't see filling it up unless you grab like 30 shotguns and just never use recyclers when you find them

Thanks for telling me what my experience was, but I wouldn't have gotten annoyed to the point of stopping unless there was a valid, prominent reason. And I play horder games like the elder scrolls.

Different anon here. I was constantly recycling because I was constantly having my inventory filled with all sort of shit. And if you want to have the wrench, pistol, shotgun gluegun and stungun (plus ammo), you are already using a big amount of space
