If you think puyo is mediocre it's because you were awful at the game. This game is as deep as a puzzle game could get. Only the quickest, smartest player could master it. A mediocre puzzle game would be panel de pon
Convince me then, i play Tetris but never understood puyo, is it worth learning right now? Can i play champions or puyo Tetris and find beginner players?
ok but why am i so bad? its fun but i feel so retarded, i barely scraped through puyo tetris 2 when it came out and i got shat on hard the first and only time i played a real person
You haven't put enough effort into learning the game. It's not really for people that don't care for practicing/learning
Convince me then, i play Tetris but never understood puyo, is it worth learning right now? Can i play champions or puyo Tetris and find beginner players?
There are new players on the switch version of puyo tetris 2 and champions. On the steam versions youll need to play only when japanese players are online or when americans get home from school. I'd say its worth learning only if youre interested or a new game just released which it hasnt.
Sell me on it
It's fun. It's fun to build big chains and its pretty satisfying to learn the many, many different way to build chains. see https://youtu.be/Fc65ujUbP_A
Which one?
depends. do you have a switch? get puyo tetris, or puyo tetris 2, or champions. if PC get puyo tetris 2 or champions. also get puyo vs 2. if ps4 get puyo tetris 2
im not autistic enough to get good and people who pick tetris online are unbeatable, i can do setups for 4-5 chain at the start but after that i cant do shit
if you dont like playing vs tetris play puyo tetris 2 and only queue up puyo vs puyo. its not too late to get good. the game is a lot more fun if you are good enough . no autism needed
i play action and fightan games a decent bit, so im used to practicing and learning. it's just that i don't understand whatsoever how to do that in puyo. is there helpful information online? are there games that help facilitate the process better than others, maybe?
Well that is where puyo fails, because this link is probably the only useful information that exists out there. https://puyonexus.com/wiki/List_of_Chaining_Forms
The best thing you could do is just read all of this and try to learn as many different ways to chain as possible. It doesnt really talk about counter play but I feel like that would be obvious the more you play.
I think the first thing I tried was stairs, but half the time it ended up in a situation where I get a two chains and then the third one just dropped in the wrong spot. So I just play the lazy, fast way of fill up the right side as fast as possible.
Yeah thats why you should learn GTR. Much more beginner friendly. Idk why people always recommend stairs first, it's something a newer player wont understand imo. It is nearly impossible for a new player to build a 2nd floor with stairs and its too easy to break your chain with these builds as well. GTR allows you to keep it as simple and easy as possible.
I completely disagree, and trying to convince new players that grinding until they can make a 16 chain is just going to discourage people. Actually playing through the games is much more fun than spending all of your time practicing in endless mode (although I have spent many hours doing that).

Why do you want people to play through all of the games? Past the madou monogatari series they're all the same game. Once you've played one you've played them all. If anything people should play the modou monogatari series, then puyo tsu, then skip straight to playing whatever the newest game is exclusively playing multi-player. Besides, multi-player is what Sega wants you to play. Do you really think they'd prefer paying for online services that'll never be touched anyways because people are too busy playing by themselves? They are pushing competitive play. Sega does not care about thr story mode and either should you, because there isn't anything meaningful there anyways. The real game is multi-player. Play vs people, it's fun

I think people should play through the games because they're all fun and aren't all the same. New players are going to learn more about the game by playing through the games rather than jumping right into multiplayer and spending all of their time practicing in endless mode.
I like the madou monogatari games as well, and I don't see any reason why people shouldn't play them if they like the Puyo games, although they don't need to be a prerequisite to enjoying the series.
As for what Sega wants people to play, its pretty obvious that they want to focus on multiplayer given how shit the singleplayer content has been in recent games, but that absolutely does not detract from the singleplayer in the older games, and if anything, provides a reason to play the older games. The fact that Sega doesn't care doesn't mean that I also shouldn't.
It wasn't even until the recent games that everyone had the ability to play multiplayer, so the singleplayer was always a huge part of the series. >Play vs people, it's fun
I agree its fun, but so is the singleplayer.

You seem to be AGAINST playing multi-player though. That's all I want people to do. There is no one online and I want people to be online. You don't even bother clicking on my threads if I make them about multi-player. It seems you only care about the single player in games past tsu but before puyo tetris

I tried playing one of the madou monogatari games on game gear and there are random fights every couple steps and you have to do even more grinding to win against bosses. Are they all like this?

I've only played the game gear ones, but yeah if you're really put off by that style of gameplay then you probably aren't going to enjoy the games.

I was visiting in africa two months ago
My goal was to see all those wild animals
Most excited I was when I came close to Zoh
He was so big and somehow so scary
Something happened when I snapped a picture
Three Zohs surrounded me
One of them ripped off all my clothes
Second Zoh came on me and Started to spread my buttocks
With his huge trunk
I screamed in agony when I felt it started to shove up my ass
Third Zoh forced me to Take his giant cock in my mouth
I sucked like a whore while I was assfucked by Zoh's trunk
After all it wasn't too bad at all
It took only about ten minutes
And cock in my mouth started to cum
Extremely huge load of Zoh
Sperm filled my throat and
Spurted allover my face
I was completely fucked up,
But the Zohs had one more thing to do
All three of them huffed and puffed shits on me
Then they left me alone with my ripped asshole
I'll never go to Africa again
You should actually play the game that image is from.

I'm not against people playing multiplayer, however I will always recommend that new players start with singleplayer due to the huge learning curve of the gameplay. The series isn't going to get new fans if every new player starts in multiplayer and gives up because they got destroyed before they could even figure out the basics. >You don't even bother clicking on my threads if I make them about multi-player.
Where exactly was it specified that this is a multiplayer only thread? >It seems you only care about the single player in games past tsu but before puyo tetris
I also enjoy the single player in the original and Tsu, but the new games leave a lot to be desired, so I'm going to recommend the earlier entries for the single player. I'm obviously going to play the singleplayer a lot considering how difficult it is to find multiplayer matches these days.
>You should actually play the game that image is from.
I have it on my list. Puzzle games aren't my thing but this one looks fun, and has nice char design
It is fun and does have good characters. It also has good music. Draco's story is easy mode, so you don't have to worry about not being an expert at the game.
No. I play Magical Drop instead.
I can never get the Puyos to chain properly anyway, which seems to be the only way to play the game properly.
I'm enjoying it. It has a good selection of modes from previous games, far better than MD5 and it's exclusive vs mode. Survival was what got me into the series, after all, and was a nice way to get back into playing properly. And the board game is a nice way to play that isn't just vs matches or playing through story again.
That said, I've not played all the previous MD games so someone else might have a better idea of how it stacks up properly.
If it plays anything like 3 then its probably pretty good.
Also do you have to unlock characters or something?
>Draco's story is easy mode
cool to know, she's my favorite chartacter.
puyo games had pretty cool designs, don't really like the artstyle of the later entries.
>she's my favorite chartacter.
Mine too. Sun has the best artstyle in the series in my opinion.
>Draco's story is easy mode

>imported copy of chronicle finally arrives a couple of days ago >been wanting this since i first heard of it, finally get it 6 years later >rpg mode is just ok
i am too retarded for puzzle games
Okay, but only the single player. Not the multiplayer.
What's wrong with multiplayer
I have to focus on playing the mediocre puzzle game instead of the top-tier character designs and aesthetic
puyo puyo isn't mediocre

Can you elaborate?
I've played it before and I thought it was fine, even if not as good as Puyo
Not right now, but it's always a good option. Thanks for offering anyways.
no problem

well that's something, at least. thanks for the info, anon
Which one?
Puyo Puyo Tetris, because it lets you look at Puyo characters while you're actually playing a good puzzle game instead.
Start with the original or 2, then play them all in order. Don't start with the new ones.
This is a multi-player thread
It clearly isn't. It's a Puyo Puyo thread.
Playing all of the games is the best way to experience the series.
The best way to experience the series is learning how to build a 16 chain. You have done that, have you?

Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Best game in the series.
Based and EGG-pilled.
Imagine if Sega cared even half as much about Puyo as Enhance does about Tetris lmao
im not autistic enough to get good and people who pick tetris online are unbeatable, i can do setups for 4-5 chain at the start but after that i cant do shit
Even trying to see better players play and better setups, I still don't know how to do anything other than this.
looks like you need to learn GTR. I can promise youll get better at a much quicker rate the second you build GTR instead of whatever this is
I think the first thing I tried was stairs, but half the time it ended up in a situation where I get a two chains and then the third one just dropped in the wrong spot. So I just play the lazy, fast way of fill up the right side as fast as possible.
