how do you guys deal with car pool tunnel syndrome? what are the essential stretches?
I've been using a mouse 10+ hours a day for 15 years and never had any issues
Literally just stop being a limp wrist gay
thats because every singly case of someone complaining about CTS in this thread has tendonitis.
you dont get carpal tunnel syndrome from using a mouse.
the entire CTS scare is a meme, you need to be a builder demolishing entire buildings by hand to get carpal, heavy stress, in other words.
You could make a whole bingo on retards spreading dumb shit about tendinitis. Like being told to apply ice packs.
YOU ARE A MEME
actually the earliest recorded case of carpal tunnel syndrome from labor in america was from dudes who worked on an "assembly" line of sorts--twisting the heads off of chickens
I've been a construction worker doing building and heavy demo work since I was like 14, so going on 20 years now. I have also been using a mouse and keyboard for just as long. My wrists are fine.
My eyesight on the other hand, its fuckign ogre.
Anon. Being 14 is EZ mode when it comes to bones.
Breaks to stretch every 30 mins. You can't play hours and hours on end expecting nothing to happen lol
get a vertical mouse
Start lifting
At the very least do some pushups daily
Or just get so overweight that there's fat around your wrist to protect the nerves.
Not gonna work, the fat is around your wrist, not around the nerve inside your wrist.
I think the problem is that you're not eating enough
Why not both? COME ON ANON ITS BULKING SEASON.
I don't deal with it, the secret is to use your computer ergonomically so it never happens in the first place. I assume it's on your mouse hand? You should place your arm's weight on the chair's armrest and said armrest should be adjusted at a height very slightly above your desk, such that when your arm is on the chair your actual hand reaches the top of the mouse perfectly, without your wrist touching the desk and putting pressure on it. Also you should mostly use your arm to move the mouse, not your wrist.
I had what i thought was bad carpal tunnel syndrome, went and got it checked out and it turned out to be pain from a pinched nerve in my shoulder. I went and saw a doc because i felt a numbness/tingling in my armpit; once i took care of the pinchy it was all good
I use a mouse pad with a gel pack on it
Those things always looked strange to me. Isn't carpal tunnel caused by pressure on your wrist in the first place? Wouldn't a mouse pad like that which is specifically designed to add pressure on your wrist actually be a bad idea?
Carpal tunnel is caused by moving your wrist around, especially lots of smaller movements in short time accumulate a lot of stress. A gel pad helps to restrict the movement of your arm and it gives you a more comfortable resting position. If you feel comfortable you tend to move less versus feeling uncomfortable and shifting a lot.
you're thinking of RSI, carpal tunnel is caused by pressure on the median nerve
CPS is a repetitive stress injury.
I still don't really get it, if you don't have a gel pad you can move your entire arm to move the mouse, thus actually keeping your wrist straight and relaxed. If you have a gel pad, doesn't it get in the way of sweeping arm movement, thus 'encouraging' you to control the mouse with your wrist even more?
>Carpal tunnel is cause by [here's ramblings I pulled out of my ass]
Why do retards voice their opinions when you know fuckall on the subject. Carpal tunnel is PRESSURE on the median nerve. Like from riding a bike.
Yeah, just get one of these
>pressure on tendons is bad
>why don't I rest the wrist on this thing exactly where the tendons are...
>what could go wrong
Gel pads put more stress on your wrist and accelerate carpal tunnel
Stretching is godlike. I do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn7qUkydEHg once a day and can play or draw for hours and my hands are completely fine. If I don't stretch my arms literally start aching just after 10 minutes of drawing.
Get strong veins. worked for me
Get a vertical mouse, even if you don't have pains yet. I used to get pain using my mouse for even a little bit at a time, but now I don't anymore after switching. Do it early and save your wrist. Don't be a 30 year old with a fucked wrist like I am.
You have to use a trackball mouse. One with it on the thumb works best for me.
The only time my hands really act up is when I'm writing for long stretches.
Also one time I found my old gameboy and a tetris cartridge and I literally played until I couldn't see anymore and my thumbs were sore for a few days after.
>literally played until I couldn't see anymore
lmao wtf how close was the gb to your eyes
Just from eyestrain.
This was the original gameboy I got for christmas in 89(?).
That dinky fucking screen, that god awful spinach and piss color scheme, and playing like 16 hours of tetris straight.
Eyestrain level omega.
i started wearing a wrist brace years ago out of paranoia and i've never had an issue
i can't say if it's because of the brace or not, but no sense in changing my ways
I wore those when I had carpal tunnel, they did fuck all.
Use one of those kidney bean shaped wrist supports too, they're cheap.
magnetic copper bracelet
I had a thoracic injury and now I have permanent nerve damage/carpal tunnel in both wrists and fingers. Also developed insomnia and stomach issues too. My life is a living hell. Doctors just think its stress related. I want to fucking strangle him. Still waiting to see if I can see a rheumatologist.
I feel you anon, I also have spine injuries that wreak havoc on my body. I wish I could offer you any encouragement, but I think God has abandoned us.
I've got some nerve/vein issues in my left hand that seem to be permanent. Probably from an old injury. Whenever I use a power tool it feels like my hand is vibrating for like a minute after and I can feel my heart beat in the hand. I went to the doctors but they didn't do shit, so after a couple of years I've just sorta accepted it.
for ME, it's vision loss
>le mortality is bad
Maybe reddit is interested in hearing the details.
Make sure your desk and chair are the correct height.
Read the Bible. God laces every miracle you need throughout it for a reason. Especially important is your salvation form hell, but you can’t get it if you are dead.
>how do you guys deal with car pool tunnel syndrome? what are the essential stretches?
I avoided it by tilting my hand when using the mouse so that the pressure is in the right side rather than on the left. I did this naturally as if my body/mind somehow knew to avoid messing with the nerve when I started using computers daily decades ago.
The downside is most mouses feel odd due to my weird hand placement so finding one that 'fits' requires some trial and error.
>masturbate everyday since 2011
>never had carpal tunnel syndrome
Imagine getting carpal tunnel syndrome from masturbating. Would you tell the doctor what caused it?
For me it's this motherfucker.
What do?
pretty much the same shit as carpal tunnel but for the thumb, also your grip strength goes to absolute shit
In any case if something like this hurts, stop doing the activity for now. Tendons and ligaments take a lot longer to recover than muscle.
Stretches, massage.
Compression gloves. (They are in the ELDERLY WOMEN section...)
>by their 30s gamers are elderly women
If you’re WFH, file a work comp claim
>good posture
>hand exercises if hand feels tired
>not being a retard
Wow
>MUH TINNITUS
>MUH CARPAL TUNNEL
Not my fucking problem, retard subhumans lmao
What does it mean if I occasionally have a dull ache from my entire wrist to elbow? Feels like my one big tendon is sore in only one arm
It means you're using shitty controllers with hard to press buttons, smart guy.
But it's in my mouse arm and I haven't used a controller in 2 years. Are you saying I'm clicking too hard?
Yes probably playing with cold hands. happened to me many times when speedrunning and playing too much basically
imagine unironically using a MOUSE to play a VIDEOGAME like a fucking VIRIGIN lmao
What, you only play dwarf fortress or something? Not a lot of games out there that you have to play keyboard-only.
pretty sure I got this after trying to S rank all Naruto Storm 4 missions recently. It's been about a month and it still flares up and hurts sometimes. I've took a long break from vidya cause of it and it feels like it will never fully heal
What a coincidence, I was also trying to S rank NUNS4 recently. I had to take it slow because my thumbs starting hurting.
remember to take a break the moment you feel any pain. Also the final Naruto vs Sasuke fight is lame. His health only goes down to a certain threshold and won't advance until a scripted event of their gay lover dialogue is finished so you'll end up spending most of the fight running
It's nicknamed Gamer Thumb for a reason
stop being so fat
your body is literally hurting itself to give you a hint to get off your fat ass and run a mile
Dumb esl poster
I've never understood the "x game hurts my hands" thing
Even playing games for hours at a time that people usually complain about it hurting like fighting games, rhythm games, games with very high actions per second like Ultrakill I never felt even slight discomfort
I wonder if I just have good genetics for this kind of thing
For me it's the last finger joint before fingertips that sometimes hurts in games where you smash a lot of buttons like starcraft 2 or osu. But I need to play for a long time for that to happen, usually long sessions multiple days in a row.
>make an important part essential to survival
>if you use it too much it breaks forever and no way to fix it anymore
what did evolution mean by this
Evolution isn't an intelligent process
tendinitis is the gamer's ACK
>have this for 5 years now
>cant flex my arm without pinkie feeling numb
its over
fucking lose weight fatass
>thing is caused by muscle growth
>lose weight
what did he meant by this
fit people don't get injured ever, obviously everyone is fat.
Sometimes when I wake up that area in green exactly is completely numb. Could this be why?
most likely yes, you are developing it, or just slept in a bad position compressing the nerve and its a fluke, if it happens more frequently you are fucked
It goes away if I take a long break from the gym but as soon as I start lifting heavy again it comes back. Happens like 3 times a week.
I am no doctor, but you should probably talk to one, maybe lifting you are straining your nerve, and if you keep doing it for a long time it becomes chronic and there is no going back
>tennis elbow
Start doing yoga. Hold your arms straight out. Spread your fingers. Hold for as long as you can. Repeat.
cubital tunnel syndrome isnt tennis elbow
>car pool tunnel syndrome?
Lol. Easy, just drive your own car.
I don't have it.
I'm 33, using PC since 7. I play 5 hours a day, and another 7 hours I'm using tablet and pen or code.
Vertical mouse is a good solution.
I don't have it but I slipped at work and tried to catch myself with my dominant hand. Still bounced my head off the stone tiles. It fucked up my wrist pretty bad. Went a couple times to have it looked at and they can't find anything wrong. I figure it is a pinched nerve or something I don't know. Been over half a decade and it still aches.
>pinky and ring finger numbness from time to time
Is this bad? It happens to both hands. I lift btw.
but i can flex my arms just fine
>Quick he needs BEN GAY
A pepperflake from dinner got into my throat while i was sleeping somehow and burned the hell out of me while also swelling my throat and making it hard to breath. I thought i was going to die, but the swelling went down after about a minute. What gamer streches can i do to fix this?
Penis down the throat.
You'll need a bro for this (oral) stretch unless you are super flexible.
But for real ask a doctor, doesn't seem like a normal reaction to pepper.
Anyone else get the feeling of something swirling around in your hand? Holy fuck it's annoying.
You gotta get those GAMER GLASSES and GAMER WRISTPADS and GAMER ACCESSORIES for maximum long session GAMING.
Do work outs with your wrists. Get 1-2 pound weights, hand your hand off a table, then lift just before the maximum amount you can bring your wrist forward. Do this 10 times for one hand, switch to the other for 10, and repeat until you've lifted 30 times.
Another good exercise is what I call anime monk palm. Place both hands with palms together directly in front of your chest, then lower your hands until your arms are straight. You should feel a lot of pressure and tension in the muscles.
Ignore the morons telling you to "get over it." Nothing bad comes from doing proper exercise.
If you feel tingling in your fingers, then that's a pinched nerve. See a physio.
unironically a vertical mouse and a trackball on your left hand to give your right hand a break
consider an ergo keyboard as well and evaluate the ergonomics of your whole setup
I fucking hate being sick.
I have tremors that started in my right hands and now affects my whole body. Every muscle aches, everything shakes as if I am hurt all of the time.
My bones crack in a lot of places as well, especially the right hand. It’s gotten to a point where I can barely move my hands well and my writing is atrocious now.
That, combined with insomnia, fatigue, and a chronic neurological disorder I cannot find the name of have basically left me bedridden for a bit
I hate not having vidya to play, but how the fuck do you even heal cracks in bones?
>how the fuck do you even heal cracks in bones
pretty sure you just wait homie
Threadly reminder.
Happens to the best of us. My friend has some mystery disease that started in his legs and spread to the whole body. It’s some sort of muscle weakness but not atrophy or anything like that. I did jerk off a lot though. To the point I had horrible pains near my prostate. The only thing that was wierd is L5 nerve was irritated.
>feel fine
>enter this thread
>the longer I'm here the more my forearms and hands are starting to hurt
The truth is the only cure for Carpal is to pass it along to others on Mongolian basket weaving forums. By the time you finished reading that sentence, it was already too late.
i just try to ignore it
it might be because of diabetes
i was overweight, around 176 lb, got carpal tunnel syndrome, when to see a doctor because i got shingle and got diagnose as a diabetes because normal young people shouldn't get shingle at that age, got my weight under control and lower my blood sugar and carpal tunnel syndrome just gone
thank god i don't need insulin and i live in thailand so the medicine here are way cheaper than in the US
>176 lb is overweight
what?????
>Thailand
He's 4'6"
you didnt have carpal tunnel, you had a diabetic neuropathy, you are lucky you could reverse it on time
had to stop playing adofai because it'd just grind my wrists and fingers to mush. currently my right hand is calloused from playing runescape and using the mouse too much. I think I need to quit this whole "gaming" thing.
Just get stronk fag
