>players try to hard to be le funny marvel quip guy
>Constantly try to RP comedic MCU comedy moments in games
>when something lands they turn it into a meme and run the joke into the ground
>despite that players are great and everyone enjoys that humor but me so I don't say anything
>I don't say anything
then its your fault, nut up and challenge them to something a little more fun than cheap jokes
also no alcohol at the table, it makes ppl play shitty
>no alcohol
Nothing wrong with getting buzzed before playing so long as if you aren't slavering drunk
NTA but I never had a good experience with it at my table.
The smug smarmy one-liner spouting jackass with a heart of gold has been around since long, long before the MCU, stupid zoomer.
You have missed the point entirely you senile oldgay. The archetype you're referring to was almost always a singular character, and bounced off of more serious characters so that his quips and jokes would land or provide levity to heavier situations. MCU-tier of this is when nearly all of the characters, including the "serious" ones, have smarmy attitudes, constantly crack jokes or quip unnecessarily, and undermine otherwise serious scenarios with out of left field humor that adds nothing and rather serves to detract.
Damn one need really a phd in marvel to keep track with all that shit.
Yeah that zoomer has no idea what he's talking about. Uhhh he's right behind me isn't he?
>Uhhh he's right behind me isn't he?
But if he's behind you, then where's-
OH NO
The day is coming when I start forcing Gord memes. Screencap this post.
in marvel films everyone does it all the time though
similarly, if your players do this once in a while, it's fine
if they do this all the time without regard for context it's going to get grating pretty fast, especially if they don't have any other kinds of jokes
>smug smarmy one-liner spouting jackass with a heart of gold
This only works if the person writing the character has some skill and is actually funny themselves, which (You) and (You)r players are not.
Better than (you) and (You)r players by a country mile, considering they actually exist you stupid nogames Black person.
The fact that you're troony ass is defending IRL autistic shitposting is proof you are the only nogames here.
>You're
Your*
>troony
Straight white male and proud, go frick yourself projecting closet troony.
>defending IRL autistic shitposting
>NOOO STOP HAVING BADWRONGFUN
have a nice day nogames israeliteBlack person.
>proof you are the only nogames here.
If you had any games you'd know there are NEVER 100% SUPER SRS games. Every game devolves into in-jokes and shitposting eventually, even shit that gets incredibly dark.
For all intensive purposes, your're pushing your're luck and should of quit agless ago, kiddo.
You're the odd man out. Deal with it or leave.
If he leaves the game ends. At least this version of it does.
So?
Back in the day, it was like that but with Monty Python instead.
That shit is still around, too. Except that zoomers haven't watched a whole episode/movie, they've just seen clips of the Black Knight fight and the Knights Who Say Ni
>The Knights Who Say "N"
One day, they will be reunited with the Knights who say Gger.
Not OP but you're really reaching there bro.
>"Hey I don't want to ruin your fun but could you turn down the comedic tone of your character a bit? I feel as though the way you play them right now clashes with the overall tone Im trying to convey in the game. Maybe when this campaign is over, or if someone else would like to trying DMing, we could try a more lighthearted game."
>’It’s just a game bro, lighten up a bit. We’re just having fun.’
The normies cries out in c'mon dude as he strikes you.
The third bit kills me.
I'm the funniest person in our group and my friends all take any joke I say and repeat it like four times after I say it out of context during the same session.
>when something lands they turn it into a meme and run the joke into the ground
Funny because this is exactly what you're doing by making vague complaints about the MCU whenever something unrelated annoys you because you saw other people get a positive response to complaining about MCU
Mcu gays really get antsy when someone criticizes there movies
Just because something is true doesn't necessarily make it a meme.
This is just how TTRPGs have ran since the 1980s, anon. People are there to have fun, not be serious all night.
>1
You can have fun in a serious adventure
>2
Rapid fire shitty - 4 charisma MCU-esque quips delivered ad nauseum isn't fun
yeah this
few people get mad because there are sometimes jokes (sometimes they get mad because a joke hits a sore spot or undercuts a serious moment but that's a different issue)
it's easy to get mad if everyone is competing to get off a funny badass quip every other turn
"so THAT just happened"
"he's right behind me isn't he"
"you have an army? we have a barbarian"
it's the same as people who quote monty python instead of having a personality, the relevant trend is just shifted by 40 years
>Rapid fire shitty - 4 charisma MCU-esque quips delivered ad nauseum isn't fun
clearly the other players think so
>clearly the other players think so
They don't which is why it is always radio silent after one of these quips, sometimes even follow up with an muffled explanation of reference. They're just constantly gunning for the quotable, green text, viral d&d moment, duds be damned.
>everyone enjoys that humor but me
Straight from the OP.
Like penks
This is how most tabletop games go in my experience. Even when you have a serious and fully engaged group, there will be times where they will break tone to go on a marvel/monty python-esque digression. It's kind of inevitable in this hobby.
Maybe someone has had different experiences. But I've DMed for/played in over a dozen different games with different groups and they all had this issue to some degree.
At least they know how to play the game, I have to constantly deal with that type of player while they don't even know the basics of combat strategy like "don't get surrounded"
