Please bring back E3

I can't take this shit anymore.
After the State of Play I'm seriously wondering if I should even care about video games. Usually, this week would be a time where I had some sort of enjoyment because at least there was some visual element like E3. At least I could get enjoyment out of clueless and awkward CEOs or lead developers being carted out on a live stage, in front of shills/journalists or whatever. At least there was some way to be entertained, as least I could shitpost here.
With this virtual format of streams and stuff, it just feels like a trailer reel, and a bad one at that. Every person that shows up doesn't feel real and just feels like a cardboard cut out. It has been scrubbed clean of any imperfection.

Next week we're going to have the Xbox showcase on June 9th. You will get an whole hour of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 like you did Starfield last year. This will be the only game that Activision has plans to release this year, despite owning the rights to franchises such as Guitar Hero, Spyro, Tony Hawk and Crash Bandicoot. They will not make a new IP, there will be no attempt from Activision to use Beenox, High Moon, Raven or Demonware other than just being support studios for Call of Duty.
That's not mentioning Summer Games Fest, which will have the biggest announcements but will most likely be full of bloat garbage indie games, advertisements for games already out like Destiny or other titles. In fact, this will be a majority of the Summer Games Fest. You will watch Geoff ask the same questions he does to every guest.
>hi great to have you
>what is this bold new idea
>when is it coming out
>okay, lets see a trailer!

How am I meant to be excited, much less care for any game when every part of this upcoming week is going to be a multi-hour long trailer-reel of games with inflated budgets chasing industry trends that won't succeed.
At least the people attending E3 might've had a good time. But now no one is.

Seriously, everyone is just fricking miserable. Look in the threads and no one is excited for hours. No one is going to be excited about Black Ops 6 getting an hour long presentation where it's edited to hell, any personality the devs might have apart from whatever the higher ups allow will be removed. Everything will be sterlized and boring.
The fact that every year people would bother to make cards for the showcases and then it dead stopped and hasn't happened since. No bingo cards, no OC based on the events, no fond rememberance of the shit that happens in the events at all.

      > It has been scrubbed clean of any imperfection.
No shit, that's the point. You think they were deliberately trying to come off that cringey?

No, of course not, but stripping away literally every imperfection makes everyone feel the same and dull and boring.
May as well not even have the event and just upload trailers to the youtube channels of the publisher/studio at this point.

Even if E3 was around people wouldn't be doing that anyway. No one tries to get along here anymore, just shit up every thread and pick fights.

At the end of the day it is just trailers. The same thing could be accomplished by just uploading them onto YouTube. Still, I had some fun times watching E3 and all of its alternatives simply do not hit the same

The fact that there were streams and there was demo coverage just slips your mind? There were some games that never even released, that had E3 coverage. I remember there were certain servers in games, that were only alive during E3. I think I played with a doom dev during an E3.

I get that you're sour but, come on. Lies will only make you more sour.

Understandable when NSMB was the standard, but both Odyssey and Wonder were GOTY material. It's really been a return to form for casual platformers.

Wasn't an E3 event. The Xbox One reveal happened prior to E3 2013. Don't worry, you're not the only one that forgets this, a lot of people no doubt do.

Take the Nintendo pill anon. We get big release events multiple times each year and none of the modern cashgrab trends ruining everyone else

I already watch the Nintendo ones. Unfortunately it does have a lot of the same issues but it does seem to actually please Nitnendo fans. The problem is that I've never been invested in Nintendo franchises.

This was actually the last E3 I remember.
It was just too memey, I don’t think its meme level can ever be topped.
Based Don Mattrick basically telling US Army zogbots that if they don’t have an online connection they can just buy an Xbox 360.

The gaming industry needs to die. It needs to burn and crash so all the investors and groups that are raping everything can frick off and ruin something else. All the big studios need to clean house and lay off all their shitty employees and writers.

    this is true

maybe zoomers don't know because they were still swimming in their father's balls back then but terrible E3 conferences were extremely entertaining, stuff like the konami trainwreck from 2010, sony's playstation 3 price announcement, the wii music demonstration by the brown spastic guy all this shit was fun

now it's all sterile and impersonal

I used to have friends that really wanted to E3 to die because they wanted "just the news" of videogames. But missed the point of E3. It wasn't that it was professional. It was that it was stupid and fun to watch with friends. E3 has been dead and I haven't heard much from those friends since...

  14. 3 weeks ago

it's dead forever. not entirely because of all the homosexuals that b***hed about it, but I'm going to put the blame on them anyway.

  15. 3 weeks ago
    Anonymous

    It's the small things too.
    >one of the main ways people could see the head of a studio and the way they handled themselves was at E3, live on stage
    >now they don't need to be live on stage, no failure or mess ups
    >can't tell anything about the people leading the studios
    >most of the time it's played so damn safe that it's uncharismatic anyway
So literally anyone can walk in and be a central figure of one of these studios or publishers and never show or show their true selves or competency. They don't even get the chance to mess up.
    It's gone fricking corporate.

Abuse and harassment are corporate problems. I literally could not care less. All I care about is devs making good games. If that means all white male devs teams or creepy harassers or troony discrimination then fine, just make good games god dammit.

I absolutely do not want the 2000s back. As bad as things are now both in video games and in the world at large, I'd keep it all just to make the 2000s go away forever. Being nostalgia blind for the 80s and 90s is quaint because at least the games were actually good, but nobody actually legitimately misses the 2000s.

      -no events
      -significantly fricking shorter
      +awards
      -giveaways doomed to be crowded
      -less scope
-undertones of cramming everything into a TV timeslot
+all the devs in one place
-all the complaints about media in one day
-more awkward banter because "It's an award day, give them a break!"

Not even 1/4th of what E3 was. That was a damn gamer holiday.

I keep a gap in my calendar where E3 was, to do fun things on my own. o7

This is what happens when major shareholders and investors take over your industry rather than passionate people dictating the direction who love the hobby. It gets sold out, boring and when no one can agree on things anymore as a group, everything gets shut down because MONEY. I fricking detest and despise commies and their ilk but the one point they have absolutely right (or did), is hating, detesting, and trying to undermine the control of the rich, well at least they did until the hypocrites started supporting these companies because they started falsely supporting their ideals while still continuing to be evil.

M8 I cant even take 5 minutes of devs explaining how what made their new game was the diversity present in the team and you want a full one hour of it
The people in charge now are completely different than the people then, it would not be good at all, not even in a blunder way, also it would only work if the only gaming event besides E3 was tokyo game show, but there is too much now that when june comes around there is not actually that much new to announce, I still watch old E3 for nostalgia and even read old gaming magazines because even the journos were not insuferable and actually did play videogames cause they liked games but humanity downgraded so much since then

Same question here. The "hollywood" treatment is really an honor in itself but, someone in the wrong place just jammed it in. The decisions were made, disregarding what made the spontaneity of E3 special or unique to fans. No need to shit on your risotto, if they plate it too dry.
