Easily the most entertaining character in the game. Always on some shit. Never a dull moment with him. He’s like Junko if she was good.
Why are guys just always better characters?
NTA but I'm a huge fan of the series and it's kinda undeniable that most of the characters don't use their talent for anything serious.
In 1, Celestia gambles nor bets on nothing, Hifumi and Toko write nothing, Aoi does not use her athleticism for anything, and Yasuhiro predicts nothing important. Other characters are a complete stretch to not include in this list; Sayaka used her charm and cuteness to manipulate Makoto, and Kiyotaka... was on time for his own murder? I guess?
In 2, Chiaki games for nothing (not sure how she was supposed to, but still), Fuyuhiko does not live up to his own Yakuza-esque threats (which is ironically the only way he could use his "power"), Akane is athletic for no reason, and Hiyoko performs for nothing. And, of course, we have more stretches; Ibuki uses her hearing a couple times, Teruteru uses his own cooking to hide his weapon, Peko uses her sword to climb out of a window, and Nekomaru was probably the only one made of tough enough stuff to take on an RPG shot.
In V3, Rantaro dies immediately, Ryoma uses his tennis skills for nothing, Tenko never uses her fighting skills, Kaede does nothing with music, Gonta can't take advantage of his bugs for anything important (not that he would), and Kaito can't do much with his astronaut background.
Dangan is not a good game for showing off "ultimates". It could have been a lot better in that regard.
>Yasuhiro predicts nothing important
He does predict nobody getting murdered after the third trial and the bad ending >Fuyuhiko does not live up to his own Yakuza-esque threats
Does a half-assed seppuku but yeah >Akane is athletic for no reason
That's her talent, duh >Tenko never uses her fighting skills
Her, Gonta and Kaito were going to fight Excecals (or whatever the frick that word is) since they are the most physically capable of the cast >Kaede does nothing with music
Plays to Shuichi once to give his character motivation > Gonta can't take advantage of his bugs
He noticed Kokichi's message in the grass while looking for bugs >Kaito can't do much with his astronaut background
Not even a proper austronaut, the frick was his accomplishment anyway, getting away with being accepted into japanese NASA despite being underage?
It's hard to consider Nagito a "side character". Nagito feels like the antagonist of Danganronpa 2 even if Junko is the final boss
In the same way Chiaki is still the main heroine even if she dies before the final chapter
They're good but I can only say they're better than V3. SDRA2 in specific has some insane ideas that convinced me the killing game formula still has tons of potential.
the best part of SDRA2 was getting rid of Monokuma and Junko altogether
It had an amazing mastermind that finally was feeling fresh. Proves that you dont need to rececle Monokuma every single time
For me it was >Revealing the mastermind at the start >Bringing back a past character (Twogami doesn't count) >A group of traitors rather than just one
That helped make things really interesting. The story being self contained and unrelated to Junko but still working in the setting also helped.
I read a lot of these and tbh most of the classic are basic b***h stories compared to the crazy shit they are pulling out in modern VNs
cant blame them because they were creating the trend at their time but these days its eh
>actually really like this game for the fun exploration and environmental story telling and interesting/weird backstory and world building, even if the murder mystery part is whatever. >Ganker just shits on it as hurr pozzed trannie shit western wannabe dangan ronpa >they’re not even necessarily wrong
Persona did the same thing, Akechi is just no name brand Adachi. They tried to force lightning into the bottle twice and the only ones who cared were nasty fujos.
Kokichi was the classic sad case of the >we need to top the previous one
that failed
It's sad because he was pretty good as his own thing, but once Chapter 5 happened they tried too hard to top Nagito's scheme.
Persona did the same thing, Akechi is just no name brand Adachi. They tried to force lightning into the bottle twice and the only ones who cared were nasty fujos.
Kokichi had one nice moment where you lie and try to frame him so he just spoils the whole fricking case. It was nice seeing everyone go from "its impossible" to "frick its the only possibility". Saddest moment of the game follows
Kokichi was best when he was stirring shit up and being an butthole before Chapter 5 made him out to be a master genius who planned everything in advance and actually hated killing
Yeah, "X knew the whole game from the start and actually manipulated everyone the whole time" is a shit trope in 90% of situations because no rational person would plan around a bunch of morons doing exactly what they want
Worst thing is that Nagito chapter 5 plan worked completely logical and fine the most crazy things were
1) the scope of his insanity pull this shit out
2) the way he knew and was able to use his Ultimate Luck especially compared to Naegi in the first game that held the same talent but never used it for 99% of the game
Kokichi plan was stupid to begin with because it would serve nothing even if it worked and shit was trying to be complicated just cause they wanted to top the previous chapter 5
I wonder why isnt anyone C&D all these fangame danganronpas
Not that I complain but if you for example try to do anything with Nintendo properties they will send a death squad for you right after you announce it
I like his character a good amount but it felt like the game was building up to him doing something bigger in Chapter 5 but he just shoots himself and is out for the rest of it.
he had enough of this shit, cant blame him him surviving shooting himself in the head at least teased the Divine Luck spreading on other people well and pretty much set up whole Voin motivation in the second game
Being too based. I usually hate the more supernatural shit in these kind of games but I liked it in this, it felt mostly well-foreshadowed. Bonus points for having the balls to not automatically redeem the MC and having the 'bad' ending be the true one. the sequence where you interact with all the dead classmates before making your choice was amazing too, had me kinda tearing up
>they could make the thing that every game teased so far, murdered living after the murder because he killed after someone already killed the other person >nah we will just pull of the same double murder the third time
still SEESAW was probably the funniest killing method in the series but eh they could do so much more with this character
For what we got, the idea that Korekiyo gave up a perfect locked room mystery for the sake of the seesaw plan is hilarious. The wasted potential sucks but at least he lives on with shitposting.
totally and completely unironically, what WAS his fricking problem?
He was gay
Easily the most entertaining character in the game. Always on some shit. Never a dull moment with him. He’s like Junko if she was good.
Why are guys just always better characters?
Because japanese men can't write women without them being cum-bags
Men have the ability to feel emotions besides horny, Junko's whole thing is that she was just some bawd that had an orgasm when people were sad.
I unironically liked this character when I was a teenager and I feel bad
>stopped liking objectively right characters
What went wrong?
Why would you feel bad for liking the objectively best character in the game?
>when I was a teenager
>danganronpa 2
Underage b&
Dang 2 came out 11 years ago zoom zoom
>-oomer
Now I have no doubts left that you're underage
>Dang 2 came out 11 years ago
No way I'm 11 years older already.
>literally sets up the best case in the series based on the idea he'll definitely be lucky
You got gayer
are you a woman??
Why dont most of the characters use their ultimate skills? I think thats my biggest problem with dangaronpa
For the most part they do. Which characters in particular are bothering you?

>Yasuhiro predicts nothing important.
He was right that no more murders would happen after Chapter 3
this is kind of a stretch because the very next chapter they all agree to never betray each other so that they can focus on the mastermind.
>Yasuhiro predicts nothing important
He does predict nobody getting murdered after the third trial and the bad ending
>Fuyuhiko does not live up to his own Yakuza-esque threats

>the bad ending
this never happened. He imagined it.
play Danganronpa Another 2
most of the character use their talent especially in the murder cases
Play the first game before that, even if you have to put up with shitty MTL english
>side character steals the show from both the protagonist and the main villain
How is this trope named and what are the other examples of it?
Does jack sparrow in the first pirates count? Cause he's definitely neither the protagonist nor the main villain.
It's hard to consider Nagito a "side character". Nagito feels like the antagonist of Danganronpa 2 even if Junko is the final boss
In the same way Chiaki is still the main heroine even if she dies before the final chapter
>side character
He's arguably the primary antagonist of the game.
>fangame is better than the main game
Name of the fangame?
Danganronpa Another and Super Danganronpa Another 2
They're good but I can only say they're better than V3. SDRA2 in specific has some insane ideas that convinced me the killing game formula still has tons of potential.

>no new murder mystery VNs to play
I need my dose
Just read a normal murder mystery book? If you enjoyed Umineko, then go read Agatha Christie (Umineko is mostly based on "And then there were none")
Books are boring. There's a reason nobody talks about them anymore
Umineko is literally a book with pictures
I read a lot of these and tbh most of the classic are basic b***h stories compared to the crazy shit they are pulling out in modern VNs
cant blame them because they were creating the trend at their time but these days its eh
You’ve played AI the somnium files I’m assuming?

Eh whatever I liked it
Kokichi didn't have half as cool moments as this. His potential was so squandered, best thing he did was pic related.
Kokichi was the classic sad case of the
>we need to top the previous one
that failed
It's sad because he was pretty good as his own thing, but once Chapter 5 happened they tried too hard to top Nagito's scheme.

Kek, this sums it up perfectly
Kokichi had one nice moment where you lie and try to frame him so he just spoils the whole fricking case. It was nice seeing everyone go from "its impossible" to "frick its the only possibility". Saddest moment of the game follows

Spike just doesn't care as much as Nintendo does. Fangans aren't nearly as big or frequent either.
Spikechunsoft is too small to bother with those things unlike the Goliaths that are Nintendo or other huge companies.
what the FRICK was his problem?
I like his character a good amount but it felt like the game was building up to him doing something bigger in Chapter 5 but he just shoots himself and is out for the rest of it.

I could fix her
She had a great case but for the motive she was just worse seesaw man.

This singlehandely ruined both the song and komaeda for me
