Nintendo already spent their entire geoff budget on getting two of their ports nominated, they're content with that amount of attention.

Tears Of The Kingdom is an astonishing achievement in game design.

One of the things which blows my mind is you can enter a Lookout tower and be instantly shot into the sky. Immediately you can see the entire expanse of the world, the draw distance disappearing over the horizon - without a hint of a loading screen.

That is fricking insane. I can't even go from room to room on my spaceship in Starfield without a loading screen. How in the name of Christ did Nintendo manage this on a toaster tablet?

And this technical wizardy barely registers on the player in amongst the incredible immersive dynamic systems and ridiculous complex attributes of Link's abilities.

It's easy to say that if another competent talented developer was given a decade of R&D and a bottomless pit of cash, they could turn in something similar. But no way in fricking hell would they ever get it running on a Nintendo Switch.

Tears Of The Kingdom is not only an outstanding fun and immersive video game, it's also a towering achievement in game design and coding mastery.

Sure, but I don't care to explore this version of Hyrule all over again. The sky islands and underground don't make me care enough to explore them to completion either. I'm burnt out on open-world games, and this is one I don't want to play again.

Based. TotK completely BTFO the entire gaming industry, who were still reeling from being BTFO by BotW.

TotK is scripted to win so they can use the event to announce an OoT remake and feed the hype of each into the other.

No matter if totk or bg3 wins goty, it's still an embarrassment to western AAA movie games. They will look at these two quite complex games and all they can copy is boring art style and homosex. They will dig their own graves.

regardless of whether baldurs gate is shit (i have not played it) totk should definitely not win goty. i refuse to pretend it's anything more than the exact same game as botw except with mobile game physics puzzles and a handful of empty sky islands.

Both totk and bg3 are well known for clickbait mechanics (building crazy machines in case of totk, le ebin funny dialogue options and meme bear sex in case of bg3). And in cases of both, they do not represent how 99% of people play the game.

Not sure why people even give these awards attention. You know a deserving game isn't gonna win, it's all clickbait and bribes and journo circlejerks.

BG will obviously win because the journo judges have never played a crpg or D&D before so they probably think all of its mechanics and systems are brand new innovations or whatever.

I think even if it loses it will be considered a strong second place… which is objectively a W.

Anyone who says that BG3 winning GOTY invalidates Zelda is delusional. TLOU Part II won over Animal Crossing, but AC remained popular long after TLOU faded from memory.
