Nothing that game was great, shame they dropped the ball on the sequel by removing any sort of puzzle. The removal of pester ball was to be expected but man they didn't even try.

Another shame is in the original, there's only 63 pokemon you can photograph.

Technically, that was more than half the pokedex, at the time. Pretty good for the graphics and numerous courses on an N64, too.

It's that there's only 63. Though early beta images revealed they wanted to include Ekans, bringing the number up to 64.

Wonder if we’ll get a decomp and PC port eventually with custom mons and levels. I’ve seen a custom fan made course before but it was pretty shit, had none of the clever design of the game’s courses and the pokemon placement was completely blatant and in your face.

I think stadium (the original dogshit one not the second one which was eventually released as stadium 1 in the US) came before snap

The sequel is an improvement in nearly every regard, but I can't lie and say I don't miss chucking random Pokemon into shit and watch them evolve from it. There's just a lot of charm that the first game had that can't really be replicated. New Snap is still worth a playthrough though.

      Anonymous

The sequel is good and has a shit ton of puzzles, but some of them are way too obtuse and the content is padded to ridiculous extents.
It also lacks that 90s funky groove the original OST had. Nevertheless New Snap has more care and is way better than the slop GameFreak shits out these days.

        Anonymous

I felt the same way about the puzzles. Being on rails, it usually means you get one chance to try something and if you miss you have to restart.
And some snap puzzles require luring, or doing something earlier in the level to make a new situation.
I really liked the game, lots of content but trying to get all the pics was too frustrating a task to attempt

My problem with the sequel is there's so much fricking padding.
      >Play level
      >Play same level a second time
      >Play same level a third time
      >Play same level........ BUT AT NIGHT! :O
Not to mention that you have to play the same levels EVEN MORE TIMES because they have a godawful leveling system. The first game was short and sweet which is why I liked it so much. It's like Namco made a great 3-4 hour game but knew people would b***h that it was too short, so they went "you know what Pokemon Snap needs? GRINDING!"

This tbh. The main pokemon games were on Gameboy and they knew they couldn't live up to the mainline standards if they were to adapt it to a big console (and they still can't lmao).

So the N64 was used to expand the Pokemon world. So in one game you go on a safari trip and finally get to see how pokemon behave in the wild. For another game, you're best buds with your Pikachu and go on small scale adventures together. Another one is a 3D battle simulator to pretty much inject graphix to the cable link battles and have a 4 player party game. Oh, and there's a puzzle game.

        Anonymous

        >and there's a puzzle game
Pokemon puzzle league is good but it's just a Panel de Pon clone. A good one mind you, since it came up with the 3D mode, but still a lazy cash grab that was reskinned just to sell the same game over again, just like with Tetris Attack on the SNES.

Hell I even like the game, but let's call a spade a spade.
