What the fuck am I supposed to do with “superior character designs”? There’s no actual point there. It’s just a unsubstantiated subjective opinion you shat out with le SOUL buzzword and no references to back it up. I can just say it has inferior character designs and it would be equally as valid as your post.

Correct on all counts. The GC games have a kino aesthetic, interesting encounter designs and XD in particular has a really cool curated list of Pokemon. I never liked Claydol before I used it in that game.
I agree with everything except the gameplay. Colo's gameplay is boring and repetitive as fuck, and the shadow Pokémon is legit one of the most poorly implemented and annoying mechanisms they've ever implemented.
>Higher Difficulty Curve compared to standard GameFreak shit because of the actual use of Status, Weather and everything in between >Focus on Double Battles makes you optimize your to work more cohesively than having a Level 100 Sweeper with 5 Meat Shields and a bunch of Full Restores and Revives >Challenging post-game that can enhance replay value unlike the Battle Facility from Gen 8 onward >better models and animations on every aspect compared to SwSh and SV
Only thing Colosseum falls short is the lack swild encounters.
Difficulty Curve
Stopped reading there. You being a retard and wasting exp on shitmons like Furret and Magcargo and Yanma the entire game doesn't mean it was difficult.
pvp isn't the same with having to constantly worry about meta tryhard shit at all times
there's nothing wrong with that if you like it but it doesn't give me the same enjoyment as campaign

Surprisingly, there are people, such as most of the players, that care about the singleplayer campaign of an RPG. Though the multiplayer aspect is fun, it's an entirely separate section of the game.

Yeah, I can tell.
the characters were appropriate for the region and story they are in.
Orre was different, even more than the other ones, because of how far away it was and it being a literal wasteland.
If you consider the rest of the game, it isn't edgy, it fits in. They just didn't give him any role in the game making his entire existance pointless.
The characters being unique and having a distinct style and mannerism is one of the best things about the gamecube games
the second this guy showed up I was hyped for the rest of the game.

They're in a Pokemon region and a Pokemon story, so no, they actually don't fit in the slightest.

I refer back to my original post
Do people on this board ever get tired of being contrarian shitposters
Nope, doubles is assured indefinitely until VGC stops making a profit because people still keep paying to partake in the event at every opportunity.
Doubles is the fastest format, and thus, VGC needs it so that matches can go by quickly and take as little of everyone's time as possible.
>VGC is entirely doubles >in the actual games, you can count the number of double battles you need to do on one hand
Honestly a new doubles only game would be fun.
Since I've been playing through all the games recently, I have to say this was quite a breath of fresh air, and I wish they'd give the concept another shot or at least take some ideas from it >Different starters instead of the traditional Water/Fire/Grass >Double battles are inherently more interesting, and give status moves a much greater value in single player >Enemies consistently stay a few levels above you for easily the best challenge in a pokemon campaign >No wild battles, so grinding is limited >Limited selection of pokemon is great for forcing people to pick things they normally wouldn't
Some things that really hurt the experience though >Game's story doesn't live up to its intro cutscenes >Shadow pokemon always knowing a recoil move is pretty bad since you want to catch them >The double battle format does start to reward boring playstyles once you get access to certain combos, like Protect/Misdreavus + Earthquake/Explosion, or spamming sleep/paralysis >Battle animation+double battles make the battles take obnoxiously long, even by pokemon standards. >(Much less a problem in XD) sometimes you can get stuck filling out a good team because you have much harder balance getting something now, or hoping for something better later on
Granted, I doubt they'd ever do something like Colosseum/XD again, I feel modern pokemon is too sanitized for that. But given how much they were willing to experiment with PLA, who knows.
>so grinding is limited
But Mt. Battle exists. Mt. Battle specifically exists for grinding. The Pokemon slowly go from level 15 to 60 from its 100 battles, giving you ample opportunities to Call spam your Shadow Pokemon. Plus, many of the trainers only have 2 Pokemon.
>yep this final fantasy looking motherfucker totally fits in with the rest of the franchise and definitely doesn't look like a retarded edgy fanfic character
It's a carry over from their DQ games. Horii loves fakeouts, so the hacks at Genius Sonority tried to do a version of this with this cunt and the mayor. Unfortunately they're stupid, so it was terribly executed.

Literally took me 2 days to clear it with in game mons only. If you weren't able to move tutor self destruct onto Snorlax I probably would have given up. Probably the single hardest series of battles in any pokemon game in my opinion.
Guess I know what i'm trying next then, thanks. I never got past team rocket in the gym leader castle in 2 but I was waaaaay younger than I when played XD too lul
i like the pokemon center theme in this game but moreso the slightly retweaked version in gale of darkness its the best pokemon center theme ever and its what the oras version shouldave sounded right in a perfect world where they didnt butcher the soundtrack but as a game both colosseum and xd kinda suck
>thinking that would be an insult
It wasn't an insult. They know America is a big dick country that loves to muscle into territory and business that isn't theirs. This is an accurate portrayal.
I've played thru the entirety of Colosseum but never played Gale of Darkness. I'm tempted to start a playthrough on a rom now.
Is it a direct sequel to the first one or is it just its own thing?
it's a sequel with some qol changes as well. I'm also playing it for the first time now and have to say col was better at the beginning, but over time xd showed it's qualities. Most changes are for the better.
It's a sequel. You're fighting the same criminal organization but this time you're a 10 year old kid.
Has a much weaker and slower start than Colosseum but is generally overall better in almost every way, from Pokemon diversity to explorable areas. The Bingo minigame is genuinely one of my favorite Pokemon minigames ever and I wish it'd come back in some way.
If ya want a remaster the Grand Colosseum rom hack might just scratch that itch. https://projectpokemon.org/home/files/file/4623-pokemon-grand-colosseum/
I just bought a copy on offerup for 50 bucks which is an amazing deal but i'm pretty sure the seller is dead cuz he hasn't shipped it in a week, which refunded my money and puts the listing back up. He hasn't sold anything in two years including that very copy of pokemon colosseum so i think it's just a sad cycle of items selling and getting refunded and relisted.
[...] >thinking that would be an insult

Absolutely not. Nintendo knows this as well, because why put games people have nostalgia for because we don't rerelease them on our online service, when we can resell them for full price? (And in the case of Mario Sunshine, for a limited time as well)
Never, because GameFreak didn't make it and by the time everyone from GS who's in GameFreak that was involved in the Orre games is capable of directing, they'll be old, jaded and out of touch.
Never fucking ever. The original GS who made the Orre games was absorbed into GameFreak in grunt positions, the remnants are a husk who exist solely to create mobile puzzle games for the Pokemon franchise.
The people responsible will either die of old age or go borderline senile before they ever get the opportunity to direct a game.
Never got through xd completely but colosseum was average at best. It was very flawed and even at the time it came out I got over it quickly. The thing is the last ten years of pokemon have sucked so much ass that now in comparison the gamecube games are masterpieces.
>just shitmons everywhere
That's a good thing. It makes you gain a new appreciation for often overlooked mons.
Colosseum actually inspired me to go through the entire series with just shitmons, and it was one of the most fun experiences I've had with the franchise.
What Colosseum needs is a mixed treatment between WindWaker HD & Megaman Zero/Megaman Battle Network Collection. (and a bit of Crystal Virtual Console release)
It needs it's bug fixed, All cut content (the cut shadow pokémon) re-instated, Virtual Trainer room unlocked with all it's cards come pre-installed, Japanese Bonus Disc content inherently accessible as a post-game 100% completion bonus (as it was needed to access the content in the original) and American Bonus disc content as an unlockable, like bonus artwork etc. in other collection games have.
Remaster never, Masuda wants you to forget these games ever existed because he's insecure about another company making a better Pokemon RPG than Game Freak.
yeah I love this game that’s worse than every single mainline game in every way!
It and XD are better than all the 3D games, easily
You say this yet you won’t be able to name a single actual thing that they do better than any of Game Freak’s games.

Stable framerates?
yeah it is easy to get stable frame rates when you make the entire game a series of hallways and use literal n64 models for the battles
Weird, you'd think Gayfreak would be capable of it in that case

I'd sooner expect gayfuck to remove double battles than to make them significant in-game in any way

What a fucking bizarre concept for a Pokemon character.
Literally Ghestis.
Less retarded than the average nu-gen trainer design
the characters were appropriate for the region and story they are in.

all the XY characters look like actual pokemon characters
the only weird looking character is AZ and he has an actual reason to look weird instead of "uhh we want to design this edgy fanfic character"
>all the XY characters look like actual pokemon characters
Lmao
bruh
yes that looks like a pokemon character
Never. If there was any hope, they would have been in Masters EX by now.
The first two gens on 3DS was literally the only time they've ported an old mainline game. This spinoff has no chance.

Softmod your wii then pirate it
GameCube was overall a kino console
Dreamcast too
Crazy to think Battle Revolution was able to stop the trend of Pokemon console games. Pretty sure the sales weren't even that bad.
I hope they change the 3d character designs to look more like they did after SM if they remaster it, the original is too ugly to sit through.
Remaster never because Gamefreak is allergic to making good video games.
>Remaster when?
kek, never. We don't get to have nice things remember.
we got Mystery Dungeon DiX, which was nice
maybe they'll do more
I look like this and do this
Someone's making a pixel art remake called Burning Colosseum.
>Someone's wasting their time
who gives a fuck?
what are the chances that nintendo will add a Gamecube emulator to their virtual console portfolio?
Why do that when they can charge 60 bux a pop?
Absolutely not. Nintendo knows this as well, because why put games people have nostalgia for because we don't rerelease them on our online service, when we can resell them for full price? (And in the case of Mario Sunshine, for a limited time as well)
Too bad there's no rom hack that lets you turn off battle animations. That alone holds me back from replaying that and Gale of Darkness.
Just emulate it with speedups like every other pokemon game
Never, because GameFreak didn't make it and by the time everyone from GS who's in GameFreak that was involved in the Orre games is capable of directing, they'll be old, jaded and out of touch.

When has nintendo let alone tpci ever done something decent like this for the fans?
We all know the answer to that. I only mention what it needs.
The Wii U VC release of Mario Advance 4 SMB3 had all the e-reader levels available.
When I'm done my fangame. Stay tuned naggers, you're gonna love this one.
