They're both made by known scammers who commit false advertising and fraud.
Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.
it started with one schizo that would post in every valve thread complaining about artifact. i think now it's just other people copy pasting the meme because the first guy would always mention the $1 million tournament
aperture science in portal 1 felt pretty artificial atmosphere-wise before you get to the third act. after that it felt like you broke the game almost but something was still off about it. aperture in portal 2 felt like a real place. i guess it's a matter of personal preference.
I don't think community stuff should count. Base Portal 2 has a pretty significant problem of puzzles being way too constrained. Way too many portal blocking surfaces which makes some of the puzzles feel like they solve themselves.
>Portal 1 has better writing
Huh? It literally has barely any story if you compare it to Portal 2. If it was released today you would screech about reddit humor.
>It literally has barely any story if you compare it to Portal 2.
Exactly. That's what makes it much better. Portal 2, as much as I liked it, feels like a Disney fairy tale. The first game had an impeccable atmosphere of existential dread no other game can match.
The more backstory about Apature you get, the less believable it is.
They swapped out the atmosphere for comedic humour in 2, it has its moments and is a great game, but portal 1 feels much more like you a trapped labrat, which makes escaping all the more satifying, only to have it all robbed from you again in the end
i disagree, i think the backstory in aperture made it more believable. it never used retconning and everything seemed pretty plausible given the rules of the world that were established up to that point.
Portal 2 puzzles are much more linear. Most devolve into "find the portal-able surfaces and just figure out the order in which to use them", and the 'challenge' the designers include there usually falls back on just kind of hiding the portal walls, especially in the old aperture areas. Once the moon gel comes into play, things get a little better, but it's too little too late.
The only truly, consistently good puzzles in Portal 2 are in the co-op levels.
Portal 1 was a mind blowing tech demo.
Portal 2 was better in every single way
NPCs then proceeded to leech their blood.
/v trying to be away from npcs, witch is fine.
Portal 2 still the better game, on every gaming mechanics.
>The problem I have with Cave Johnson isn't that he isn't funny. It's that there seems to be no consideration for anything except telling jokes. Cave barely has a line of dialogue that doesn't lead to some ridiculous joke and I get the feeling nobody really asked if this is worth it. I know Aperture has always been full of insane scientists and that's part of the charm, but now they've imply that in the Half Life and Portal universe, there now existed a race of mantis men created by Aperture. And this is all for the sake of one throwaway joke that wasn't that funny.
I remember the Portal 2 puzzles rustling my jimmies so hard. >okay gotta put a portal on the wall, hmm wonder where... oh there is only one single spot that isn't a dark wall thanks gaben very cool
At least the co-op campaign got trickier towards the end
I already knew that.
Yes, it is. Is that news for you?

Where were you? There were a bunch of Valve threads without your schizo posting, Artifact-kun
Off playing the superior valve game Artifact, obviously.

Much as I wish I could condemn Valve every single time, I am only human. If I'm not there, I didn't see it.
>Artifact fanbase
Somehow it gets funnier every time.
Portal 1 has better writing and atmosphere.
Portal 2 has better gameplay, especially when you factor in community-made stuff.
I dunno about that, old aperture was fricking amazing

valve did good worldbuilding so effortlessly
I miss them

portal 1 has no reddit humor. the cake is a lie was turned into reddit humor afterwards
My point still stands. Portal 2 story is a rollercoaster in comparison. It still the only game I ever played which squeezed some tears out of me.
how
not him but the glados backstory is kind of emotional

Writing isn't the same as story, you dumbass

>Portal 2 has better gameplay
No it doesn't, the overuse of restricted areas and walls ruin the puzzles and make them one-dimensional and too simple.
>Portal 2 has better gameplay
the moron that made this comic never played portal 1. there are dark surfaces all over the fricking place.
is that not common knowledge? it used to be
>first game ends with a "lol enjoy your fire pit" with no finale or credits
>second game has an actual ending
I know which one I prefer.
portal 2 doesnt fit into the half life world
see? the only people who hate P2 are half life lore autists.
only reason homosexuals shit on portal 2 nowadays is muh reddit humor, portal 2 is better than portal 1. better story, puzzles etc.
handholding is worse in portal 2
