Post old ass gen 3 shit

Hey, Im curious to see all the old ass gen 3 fan creations from way back during gen 3. This is the first gen that was completely post pokemania, and I am extremely curious to see old content from ye olden days when a generation not having an eeveelution was an exception rather then the rule.

pic related is from an extremely old windows maze screensavor texture pack. iirc the absol textures were one of the few, if not only, who survived.

I wasn't even born then. Why do you expect me to have content from that era saved?!

my guess is because the present pretty much sucks, there is no soul to anything anymore unironically

Simpler time. Imagine Social medias and youtube without the amount of ads and soulless content as there is now.

    What is there to explain?
It was fricking awful for the most part, everyone who started on gen 1/gen 2 was going into middle/high school and now pokemon was seen kiddie shit.
It was a game that was not only NOT evolving, it was GOING BACKWARDS, gen 3 removed animated sprites, day/night, did a massive dexcut, only 1 region, etc.
Meanwhile the anime dropped Misty and Brock, it started feeling like a proper cash in meant to be nothing but an advertisement.
At the same time there was constant talks of sony coming up with their own portable that would release a couple years later and the PS2 was absolutely dominating everything while stuff like Yu-gi-oh! was taking over.

You couldn't really talk about Pokemon anymore without being considered either an idiot or a kid that won't grow up, it was the end of the era of Poke mania, gen 3 designs looked extremely overdesigned and "like digimon" to most people and people lambasted gen 3 for the completely horrid graphics and same old formula, fan content was scarce because it was only either done by autists, kids or very few die hard fans.

Gen 4 came and it was the same, lambasted for the graphics, lack of innovation, same old stuff.
Around the release of platinum, hgss and gen 5, it started growing past the kids demographic again as the original crowd are now entering college/adult life and Pokemon starts becoming mainstream again until GO made it way bigger, in big part due to the jump on quality from later DS games coupled with the insane abundance of flashcarts so everyone was able to play them.
It's gonna be hard to find much stuff because it happened to be the early days of normie internet, most of the stuff you'll see is from 2007 and beyond with stuff like romhacks and what not.
    Not fan content, but this ad always works as a time capsule and brings me back to those days;

      >a massive dexcut
...but every pokemon in gen 3 was still playable and in the games' files?

Don't give me that bullshit, those pokemon were not available until firered/leafgreen and some were unavailable no matter what.
Them being on the files doesn't do shit if you can't actually get and use them.

Don't forget you couldn't transfer them either.
All those hours in gen 1/2, down the drain.

The moment Masuda got his claws on the franchise he instantly started gutting it.

Well said. I was 9 when Pokémon came to the US, so I pretty much fit this demographic. By the time I was in middle school, Pokémon was seen as lame and I just became disinterested before Gen 3 came out and didn't even really bother with Pokémon again until my roommate picked up SoulSilver when it came out. It looked fun, so I decided to pick up a DS and a copy of HeartGold and got back into Pokémon for the most part since then.

I don't have anything from back then but I have this tidbit as someone who was pretty young at the time. Gen 3 was a weird time since a lot of people were entering their "i can't play Nintendo games or i'll be considered a kid" phase. Most kids had a PS2 or an XBOX out of pure insecurity, the people who were still into Nintendo stuff at the time were actual nerds or otherwise outcasts, and with the rise of the Internet Sonic fandom starting the first modern examples of OCs/edge in kids series/whatever, there was a lot of crossover between the two groups on forums. Since "cringe" as a modern concept didn't really exist since most normalgays who bullied these people in real life didn't care about the internet, they were free to express themselves in their own circles, and they pretty much did freely until 2012. Gen IV was the golden era, and Gen V was the swan song. We've been in the dark ages since Gen VI.

I wouldn't call it insecurity at all, Nintendo burnt every single one of their bridges after the snes so every game went to the playstation and sometimes xbox.
64 had rare but gamecube didn't had that, your choices there were paper mario and a couple of gems that went multiplat anyways.

I'm an elder zoomer (1997 baby) and these responses are pretty accurate. Gen 3 Pokemon was seen for young kids and weirdos. By no means was Pokemon popular or cool, hence why the TCG was so relatively underprinted. While kids my age still loved it (we also loved Gen 4 later), anybody older than us ridiculed the franchise. Gen 4 breathed new life into the franchise
