I thought it was uniquely high in Russia, but I just looked up the stats and it looks like Arabs kill their wives less, but beat them at about the same rate.
Fake soul is when a game is ticking your brain into believing it has a soul, and only by actively disbelieving can you regain control of your brain and dispel the illusion.
Forced soul means that the game tried and succeeded at having a soul, while true game would have a soul without trying, so you need to force your brain into recognizing the inherent forcedness of the soul and to ignore it.
Both are two linked but not identical concepts, and both require high IQ to recognize, and high strength of willpower to overcome. I don't mean to brag, anon, but you can't even recognize forced soul, well, you could be a little dumb.
Planet Crafter looked very similar to Subnautica to me, but I tried the demo some months ago and it didn't pull me in in the slightest. I don't know, maybe I'll give it another shot one day.
>star sector
Mountain Blade, X4 and to a lesser extent Kenshi scratch that itch for me.
"There is nothing quite like it" is a bit different from "there is nothing that is literally the same thing"
They both draw on the same general goals and concepts
>project zomboid
are you retarded?
There's about 60 games exactly like it, or that take so many elements from it that they're essentially the same.
Even SCUM could be considered "Just like it" because it's so fucking generic
>outer wilds
Gee, I wonder where else I can find a generic indie puzzle solving game. hmmm... it's a shame there's literally none of those on the market!
sorry boomer but the shooter genre evolved passed "aim gud only needed skill" what you gonna say movement tech (things every game has to varying degree) and knowing something is going to respawn in 20 secs is a skill?
quake 3 is still the only competitive fps game that is completely egalitarian in its foundational structure. the only factors that differentiate is aiming, movement and map knowledge skills. its pure and clean and not plagued by asymmetrical factors like every other fps is. people can't handle the equality that quake 3 gives.
The Island Defense custom game from Warcraft 3. Lots of custom games from WC3 went on to become their own genres, but not MY favourite. The only games I can think of that even remotely resemble it are VS Saxton Hale from TF2 and Dead By Daylight and that's only because they're "1 strong guy vs a bunch of weak guys" multiplayer games.
Catalyst wasn't so bad, unlike what sperglords here like to say.
It doesn't match the atmosphere and pacing of the first ones, by design, but it still manages to be lots of fun.
Hard to believe it was made by a single person, the music, the setting, the story, attention to detail, the pacing of the game, even the 1bit style is deliberate and not just a stylistic choice, every element plays into every other element so perfectly. Work of a true genius imo
PlayStation…Home. I can still hear the seagulls from the starting apartment and the menu sound effects. Nostalgia may play a factor here but this was one of a kind experience for me.
I watched my 11 year old cousin play this and I do not see how adults can get into it the way some s*ys do. It's so incredibly janky with horrible pop-in and lazy geometry that the entire appeal of thalassophobia actually never comes into play except in the twilight zone or whatever it's called. Even then once the monster does show up it's also super fucking retardedly janky and clips its big head through your ship and you can just spam infinite freeze rays at it.
You just swim around and build some shit. Eventually you go deeper and deeper in the planet core. There is a story but it's very basic and not that interesting. It's mostly just about the exploration and building.
Trad white women.
>Muslims are the only people who still have trad women
what went so wrong?
orthodox christians in eastern europe and asia would definitely disagree
Eastern Europeans beat their women into submission, it isn't really the same.
you think muslims don't?
I thought it was uniquely high in Russia, but I just looked up the stats and it looks like Arabs kill their wives less, but beat them at about the same rate.
Nothing else matches the atmosphere of doom and intimacy between the villagers like this game. There's something so surreally tragic about the theme
>Nothing else matches the atmosphere of doom and intimacy between the villagers like this game.
Literally Undertale
disco elysium is an actual good version of what a youre describing
forced soul
explain how
It just is, ok?
i disagree.
You literally can't.
i'm just spouting buzzwords to get people to reply to me
you're not me, bot

Retarded but thanks for the laugh
>the game tried and succeeded at having a soul, while true game would have a soul without trying
>posting the edit
Unironically minecraft.
Vintage Story
They're not even in the same universe gameplay wise you stupid homosexual.
OSRS for some reason
Project zomboid, magicka, and most of all star sector.
Also this
Osrs ruined other mmos for me for a long time.
Planet Crafter looked very similar to Subnautica to me, but I tried the demo some months ago and it didn't pull me in in the slightest. I don't know, maybe I'll give it another shot one day.

Try Space Rangers. A smaller scale but a similar feeling with a kinda living universe.
>Project zomboid
It's just realtime C:DDA?
C:DDA is turn-based Zomboid. Just because it's ascii doesn't mean it's old
ok
so there is something like PZ
Turn based vs RT is a pretty big difference
"There is nothing quite like it" is a bit different from "there is nothing that is literally the same thing"
They both draw on the same general goals and concepts

there's actually a few 1 person project osrs clones, like Genfanad
Fuck dbd it doesn't count.
I never played it but I liked the monster design
You just posted california-core albeit
>albeit
albeit what?
Played this recently, turned out the final boss was jank.
Duskers.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/738520/Breathedge/
It's kino.
Outer Wilds and Cractorio.
>outer wilds
Gee, I wonder where else I can find a generic indie puzzle solving game. hmmm... it's a shame there's literally none of those on the market!
>outer wilds
why does this game upset so many people like yourself?
Pocket Tanks

Pic related has been marketed as "subnautica but in space"
Ain't half as good but i suppose it can scratch that itch, especially the first half of it
absolute dogshit game one the worst of all time
Filtered.
It's absolutely kino.

Team Fortress 2
The only thing that comes remotely close is world PVP in WoW, whether you're ganking, getting ganked, or having a fair fight.
Aion
Archeage
Rift
the infectious madness of doctor dekker
im sad theres nothing else like this. its not perfect and sometimes kind of annoying but man is it one of the best games ive ever played
Her Story
her storys gameplay is more similar to the 'found lost phone' games like simulacra arent they?
doctor dekker is a game where you type out questions to people as a psychiatrist in real time and they answer you
Her Story's "gameplay" is trying key words found in the fmv bits to discover other recordings
so no its literally nothing like doctor dekker then. theyre as similar as zelda and dragon age because they both of swords in them
The Mirror's Edge games. Yes, I liked Catalyst
Catalyst wasn't so bad, unlike what sperglords here like to say.
It doesn't match the atmosphere and pacing of the first ones, by design, but it still manages to be lots of fun.
>almost two decades and still zero attempts at recapturing this feeling
Not even the sequels are similar to it.
I have played at least a dozen flash games in 2010 that were like this
Name any.
nagger its been 13 years, why would I remember the names
>make absurd claim
>refuse to provide any proof when asked
It's okay to admit you were wrong, anon.
I spoiled this game for myself by watching videos, now I know about all the big spooky monsters of the depths, no point in actually playing it
Untill Amnesia: The bunker came along, that is
Recettear, weirdly enough.
No other "shop manager" game is QUITE like it.
has any anon tried pic related. it sometimes gets bought up in comparison to subnautica
also curious
Yes. There's only ~8hrs of gameplay currently. It's good though. It's the next subnautica
Looks kino.
Besides actuall mmo's closest is White Knight Chronicles and FF12, but completely on the other side of the 'genre'
soul
fake soul
nu-soul
Hard to believe it was made by a single person, the music, the setting, the story, attention to detail, the pacing of the game, even the 1bit style is deliberate and not just a stylistic choice, every element plays into every other element so perfectly. Work of a true genius imo
KSP
Death Stranding to a lesser degree
Binding of Isaac
shattered horizon
and no, the new glorified chinkshit assetflip does not count
PlayStation…Home. I can still hear the seagulls from the starting apartment and the menu sound effects. Nostalgia may play a factor here but this was one of a kind experience for me.
this tbh. never played anything else like this before or after it.
>ITT
>People can't differentiate between "There's nothing like it" and "There's nothing exactly the same as it".
The remakes/reboots from other companies really failed to capture the charm that was closed alpha/ beta paragon.

world of warcraft which is a better version of this no lifer game for gen x neckbeards. wow is shit now though, of course.
bump
I'm a retard that forgot to attach the image, whoops.
What's this game like? I've heard it's good and sort of like the outer wilds which I love
