      >wasting that much money
just get a mouse with a decent sensor (look up a list) and without acceleration or smoothing, and non-shit switches (I heard Omron dropped their quality). My current mouse cost ~$40 and it's lasted me well over 3 years so far. I used shitty generic mice I got for $10 and the switches would start misfiring every 6~10 months.
Now if only manufacturers being cunts and posted what their mice contain instead of forcing people to tear them down to check.

    Viper ultimate

      Anonymous

I've got a gen1 viper ultimate that's still going strong except for the rubber grips wearing out. I'm probably sticking with this for a long time until the non-optical switches on the mouse wheel and the left side buttons start fucking up or they make a version with a hyperscroll tilt wheel and optical switches for all buttons.

Too late, I got this because it has those new optical switches and a bunch of macro buttons. I'm so fucking tired of buying G600s. I would've given Logitech $120 for one that actually lives longer than a year. I actually really like the cable too, it almost feels like a shoestring Everything else about it feels like the G600 to me, slightly lighter but familiar weight. Best compromise for not having a ring finger button is the weird thumb button on this too.

Also forgot to mention: The worst part about this mouse is the scroll wheel, it's pretty shit. Feels like when you pull out that old backup mouse and it doesn't like to scroll until you wear it in again. Except this doesn't wear in, feels like there's constant friction on the wheel that makes it not want to spin.

Based Kone xp enjoyer. I bought one off Amazon in march I think and it’s my favorite mouse. My gf is really hard on all her mice and breaks every mouse I get her and she uses my PC more than hers too game and broke my last two mice in a few months and she still hasn’t broken this one. The Roccat software isn’t bad once you get used to it, I have like 5 different profiles. Also don’t forget if you have a nvidia reflex monitor like I do to plug the mouse into the monitor cause it’s a reflex mouse.

I like the software too. I had to use the really old Logitech Gaming Software because I also have a G29 and it doesn't work at all basically with the new shitty software. Now I have a mouse that has all the same features on a software that's actually updated. I also don't get that annoying as fuck memory issue where my profiles don't save to the mouse. So when I go to my BIOS I have more than 3 DPI to work with. I still have LGS for the wheel but I'm not worried about that since I only ever use it to change small things and it just werks for that.

I really like that it came with extra mouse feet too, in case something inside does eventually die I have the feet already. And seriously that cord is really nice, I don't know why every other mouse has that hard as fuck cable when this is so weightless and nice feeling.

its lighter than i usually prefer, but im getting used to it. the clicks are loud and the left click is the loudest for some reason. it competes with my mech keyboard. doesnt bother me, but its something to be aware of. scroll wheel feels a little too "soft" and barely notched, which probably means that its going to turn to complete mush eventually and getting a single scroll out of it will be impossible. the middle click is good though. has a defined click with no travel and is easy to push in without accidentally scrolling. for now anyway.

its exactly what i was expecting from the cheapest of the big name gaymen mice. i like it so far.

oh one more thing. you can left and right clicks VERY far back on the mouse. that split down the middle? you can easily click all along it. so if youre gonna lay your fat sausages across the mouse, youll get some negligent discharges. its definitely made for claw grip.

All combined with a random Dell keyboard and an original Max Payne mousepad that came with the first game PC box.

            >Theres literally no reason why you wouldnt want to use high dpi
The higher your DPI is, the more prone to errors you are. There is LITERALLY no benefit to having a DPI above 800/1600 other than the cursor going faster.

It's pretty funny how everyone over the last 30 years in professional settings who play video games for millions of dollars all agree on this, but somehow you, the "enlightened" random ass Ganker user is here to try to lecture people.

Theres every reason to use high dpi, like mentioned, it simply gives your sensor higher resolution to work with. It has nothing to do with "mouse going faster" you retard lmao

Also, professional players often just copy each other without understanding WHY someone is doing something, abck in the day 800 or 1600 was the highest you could have on a mouse, and all the following generations of proplayers just do the same thing their ancestors did without questioning it, and they dont try to change it because theyve already developed the muscle memory for that particular setting, not because its better.

Most gaymen mice that'll run you $40+ have one of a handful of sensors that are pretty much pixel-perfect accurate and less prone to mistakes that are common in mice with cheaper sensors. If you've got a mouse with one of those sensors and it's comfortable in your hand that's pretty much all you need.

Like most Logitech cheaper mice they just use the cheapest OMRONs they can currently get their hands on.
Some years that's 7N, other times it's the FK variant, in either way they are always trashy cheap switches that don't feel particularly great and have a very short lifespan due to being run at too low voltages ontop of it all.

that's the worst of it all with all those budget store brands using omron, there's no fucking reason for them to undervolt the switches on wired mice especially like i get it with wireless because of battery concerns and all but wired it really makes no fucking difference other than causing the mouse buttons to start double clicking and missing inputs like fucking 3x faster than it normally

Model-O. Bought it a few months back. Been a superb mouse so far to be honest. I came from nearly 5? years of using 3 different G502s. Each one had a double clicking issue, or the mouse wheel collecting so much gunk it wouldn't scroll properly. That's WITH being (fake memey) OCD about washing my hands 4~5 times a day with soap. I wouldn't recommend getting the White version, however. It shows hand gunk / grime very clearly. It's easy to wash since the housing is smooth plastic. I've not noticed the holes getting any gunk in them either. Then again every day or two I just take a spare toothbrush and run over it and it's clean.

ASUS has a patent for swappable switches but only for the right and left buttons. You're stuck hoping they don't cheap out on the mouse wheel or side buttons.

None. You gotta get a mouse that you like and then solder proper ones yourself.

      Anonymous

What matters far more than the switch itself is how rigorous the mouse manufacturer's selection process and QC is.
Most high end mice use Kailh 8.0 now, but they also have a huge range on their tolerances out of the box.
So the manufacturer of the actual mice is the one who gets let's say a million switches and then has to sort through them. Maybe a thousand of them are good enough for their high end products, then 100k of the more average ones for their cheaper lines, and then the bad ones are discarded or sent back.
So really how anal the company is about their switch selection is the main thing that matters, so company reputation is everything, and that's something you can really only find out about by being a part of the community long term.

        Anonymous

        >they also have a huge range on their tolerances out of the box
That's no different for OMRON switches by the way, and a big reason companies like Logitech are so fucking hit and miss with their mice.
You might get lucky and get a G600 that lasts 20m left clicks, or you could get unlucky and get one that starts having issues after 20k left clicks.
The bigger and more mainstream the company the worse their switch selection usually is since they don't really have to care too much about their reputation with enthusiasts and can afford to replace the mice customers have die on them under warranty no problem.

I like the deathadder V2 and I'm tired of pretending that I don't. 2nd gen optical switches feel pretty tactile, good cord, good feet, light but not TOO light (82g) and a top tier sensor. and the shape is good too ofc.

I'm left handed and honestly never understood left handed mice. Back when I first used a pc, I just used the system as is because that's simply how it was set up and it felt pretty natural. It never even occured to me to switch everything around simply because, I mean how the fuck would I know right or wrong in this case?

This is because you're a subhuman. I first used a mouse aged 5 or so, and even I wasn't stupid enough to use it with the wrong hand just because someone put it on the wrong side of the keyboard.

          Anonymous

That's exactly what I mean though. If you have never used it before there's no clear concept of right or wrong so switching that shit up out of principle seems utterly autistic. I tried it as it is, it felt perfectly fine and just kept using it that way. Just do what feels the most comfortable to you, but consider that you might be the subhuman here because I'm not the one who has to cry about a lack of choice now. :^)

the only lightweight MMO focused mice, shape is good, basically a Viper with a bigger hump, sensor is alright but outdated, a pm 3550 iirc, retuned into their own whatever marketing name they got, its solid but at that price tag there are way options in regards to the sensor, but knowing its meant for MMOs and such I wouldn't worry about it.

battery life is dogshit, I owned an Aerox 3 and that 80 hours of battery life its basically wth RGB turned off and low polling rate, and maybe, just maybe, it lasted those 80 hours.

its also water and dust rated so don't need to worry that much about the holes

If you are looking into it because you play MMOs I'd get it, its the only lightweight mice for MMOs so thats a plus, but please try to find it cheaper, the full price is insane, specially knowing you can get an Aerox 3 wireless for like 60 bucks all the time.

the naga pro trinity its pretty good and the battery last almost an entire week non stop, but its not lightweight, it weights 120g vs 89g of the aerox 9

My G502 has started double clicking and the scroll wheel is dragging because there's some garbage inside the mouse. Yet I can't really fix it since the last time I opened my MX518 I realized that the replacement teflon pads cost more than a new mouse, and that I couldn't actually put the spring in the clicky thing back together due to my incredibly shaky hands.

      short answer no.
I've tried to find one while my g500 was being repaired and the best I could do was a shitty logi m500s with a crap sensor and only 2 side buttons.
the double click happens on every mouse because they all use the same shitty chinese microswitches which use shitty chinese metal for their leafsprings (the internal clicky bit). at best you can get jap ones which might last a little longer.

mouse design is so shit these days I've given serious thought to just making an offbrand g500/g400 with better optical sensors and selling them myself.

would it be possible to buy a higher quality spring separately and installing it on the switch? would it be worth it?

          Anonymous

I've been replacing the springs on my g500 for like 10 years, so yeah it's viable. Though you may need to make sure you buy compatible ones. The alternative to that is you can solder the entire microswitch in.

It's cheap to buy new mousefeet and the switches in my experience so I dont see why not. the hardest part is figuring out the delicate insertion of the leafspring but once you understand that it's very easy, just practice on the spring you take out until you get it so you dont ruin the good ones if you buy high quality and reference youtube videos.

        >the double click happens on every mouse because they all use the same shitty chinese microswitches which use shitty chinese metal for their leafsprings (the internal clicky bit). at best you can get jap ones which might last a little longer.
Even the worst Omron switches would last way fucking longer if most modern mouse manufacturer's didn't insist on running them at too low voltages to accommodate modern MCUs which require far lower voltages than them.
You can still find old office mice from 30 years ago that use basically identical switches and work flawlessly after all this time, just because they didn't get run at less than half of the intended voltage.

It's pretty fucked and there's not much anyone is doing to try and fix it since many people see "Japanese Omron" or "Kailh" or whatever and think that means they are high quality and will last forever and don't even give anything else a chance.
Razer is one of the very few companies that's at least attempting to go against the grain and revolutionize this whole garbage with their new optical switches, but those have their fair share of own problems right now.

they list their sensor as "AIM-WL" which seems to be proprietary, not a huge issue since companies like glorious have proprietary sensors, theirs is called "BAMF"
MCU is perfectly fine and a google search says it shows up in the pulsar xlite v2 mouse
switches are gateron or kailh like every other microswitch mouse under the sun i imagine, i'd be leery of omron switches since those are logitech's switch of choice
assuming this spec sheet on the store page is accurate i don't actually see any problem with the mouse
"the MCU isn't made in china" is weird to bring up and means nothing and there's about as much verification this daewu company is doing good QC as there is that logitech, razer or corsair are doing good QC, and we all know how logitech is with QC

I specifically brought up that the MCU isn't "Made in China" since you were so adamant about everything being made there for whatever inane reason.
Like I said, if you want to buy that mouse buy it, but spending 61 fucking dollars on something with so many question marks is absurd when there's plenty of proven mice with extremely good value for way less than that.

You don't need a charging cradle if you buy any remotely modern mouse.

And yes, that product description does NOT go into detail what components they use.
The only thing on there they clearly label is the MCU, which by the way is from Taiwan and not Made in China since the Chinese semiconductor market is basically nonexistent.

And another yes, I do infact think Razer is held to a much higher quality standard than a literal who Chinese company that doesn't even clearly label what parts they use.
QC is literally EVERYTHING for mice with how high tolerances on production necessarily are, and a big brand with a known track record is abso-fucking-lutely going to have better QC than literal who Chinks that can't even give you a proper product description.

Wait if you plug the usb wire to a wireless mouse it will charge from the PC? Why do people get those charging docks then? I thought the alternative would be to replace the battery
Sorry for being ignorant I only ever used wired mice

          Anonymous

Almost all wireless mice these days have a wire with a "dongle" on the end that acts as the receiver. When your mouse runs out of juice you just remove the dongle part and plug the wire into your mouse. Then your mouse charges in 1 hour and you can still use it while charging. When done, remove it and put the dongle back on the wire.

          Depends on the mouse.
For something like the Orochi v2 you have an actual physical AAA or AA battery in there that depending on usage will last about 1-3 months, then you pop it out and replace it with a new one. Can get rechargeable batteries and just swap the same 2 sets back and forth too obviously.
For mice with built in batteries you just plug in the USB-C for an hour or two every 1-2 weeks, or alternatively if it supports wireless charge set it on a wireless charger, for example the one you use for your phone, every now and then.
In either case it's a complete fucking nonissue and charging stations are the joke of the century.

The thing is that you're less likely to have trouble with cables dying.
Sure, you can resolder them and stuff, but replacing a battery, whilst more costly, is easier I believe.
Also, the uncluterring of your deskspace if you were to remove all wires sure does a lot to improve looks.

The biggest reason I could think of to buy wireless if you game across a room at 4k or some shit.

      Anonymous

Latency is basically a nonissue if you buy any modern wireless mouse and use 2.4Ghz without obstructing the dongle. Sure it's ever so insignificantly higher than with a wired mouse, but if it's good enough for professional CS players competing on a world level it's good enough for (You).
Battery life has improved drastically too. Most mice will easily last weeks, then you just plug them in for an hour or two and you are good for a couple weeks again.

Whatever you say. The fallacy of thinking lighter = better never ceases to amaze me. The switches could be better, that much is true, but the 703 goes on sale for 50-60 bucks frequently and you won't get a better deal for an all around wireless competitive mouse. The Hero sensor feels identical to the 3360 which is the best sensor I've ever used.

Not that anon but isn't "being light as fuck" like literally the entire selling point of those Logitech Lightspeed mice?
I've never used this "Hero Sensor" either but I have a hard time believing there is any noticeable differences compared to the 3370 most high end mice come with nowadays. What makes it so much better?

        Anonymous

Main difference for the HERO sensor is it's designed and tested for 0% deviation from spec.
So if you set it to 1000 DPI it will ALWAYS be exactly 1000 DPI vs quite literally every other sensor that will have some minor variation and instead of exactly 1000 DPI might be moving between 995 and 1005 DPI.
You can probably count the number of people that can play accurately enough for that difference to be perceivable mid-game on your fingers, but that doesn't change the fact that it's objectively superior.

          Anonymous

That doesn't really sound all that great compared to higher quality build and better switches tbh. Interesting though, thanks for the explanation

2.4 GHZ dedicated receivers (NOT Bluetooth) can beat wired for response time on a couple of mice and match it on everything else, even shitty 2.4GHZ blows Bluetooth away. They're excellent these days

The newcomer VAXEE OUTSET AX seems interesting and tons of people have started using them, but I haven't done actual research on it myself yet. Then there's also Razer Viper wireless mice which are good. Zowie has 2-3 mice that are also still top tier. It does actually make a pretty noticeable difference if you compare a heavily holed shell vs one that doesn't have any, especially if you use fingertip or claw grip.

Slightly heavier mice are good with palm grip to do long smooth and controlled sweeping motions, but just needlessly adding weight for the sake of it has never been in style.
Maybe you are confused by people transitioning from heavier office mice to gaming mice for the first time and adding weight since they were used to their mice weighting twice as much as before their "upgrade".

Pure fingertip places almost no strain on the wrist compared to palm and especially claw grips.
Most Ergo are kind of a meme by the way. They are big and clunky and if you don't use them properly, meaning purely out of your arm with zero wrist movement which isn't very natural at all and takes a shitload of learning to get used to, will actually do more harm than just using a normal mouse.
If you really want to take care of your wrist you should use a track ball.

You finally started using proper capitalization and punctuation, nice! That's a start!
Now you only need to work on the forming an opinion about a topic and detailing your thoughts in words parts of the equation and you might even be able to start discussing something.

                No it isn't.

Sure is anon. It's either Claw or Fingertip Grip, if you Palm Grip you are kind of fucked at a high level for most faster paced games.

fingertip is the best for quick precision actions but dogshit at long swipes
claw is okay precision and speed and okay at longer swipes
palm is dogshit for precision but the best at long swipes

really depends on the game what you need, most games have a bit of everything so claw is great but if you mainly need lots of very precise shots in quick succession fingertip is king

                >how weak are your arms that a few holes making the mouse weigh >10g less is a big deal?
I wish people like you would stop this dumbass "HOW WEAK ARE YOU?" non-argument. It's like asking a marathon runner if they have weak legs because they want to use lightweight shoes.

      It's easily fixable.

Buy a set of small screws and If you don't have fat hands you will fix it.

Something people don't talk about often with mice is how fast and responsive the clicks are. I started with a Gpro X and later tried the razer viper v2 pro. Both cost around the same but the viper was unusable for me since by comparison, each click was significantly heavier and slower to react than the superlight.

Because that's entirely dependent on how lucky you get with tolerances and will never be exactly the same even if you get the same exact model mouse multiple times.
You can glue some button spacers to the actuator stems on your mouse buttons to change how responsive the clicks feel really easily though.

Seems like that would be the case if the difference was slight, but in my case the difference was so big and noticeable it had to be a design flaw

For sure, in your example it's two entirely different switch styles too.
I was more just talking generally, button spacers are something people often overlook even though they make a huge difference in how the mouse feels

started using the g pro when I got into apex, never going back

even older games like quake it's just more responsive and nice clicks.

I was watching a valorant tournament and at a glance all the players were using it too, seems like it's the golden standard. IIRC bjergsen and simple use it too

it has a great shape and the clicks are nice and the sensor is good, typically wireless mice are heavier but this one is light and works great. the white skates or whatever they call it on the bottom also gives it a nice glide, while some other mice can feel heavier/drag more.

    >logitech MX518 legendary 16k which is pretty damn good, but it has mousewheel issues like all logitech mice and also due to its surface attracts gamer gunk constantly
    >a logitech g400 with cable issues that i don't use anymore but keep anyway
    >a razer viper 8khz which i think is pretty great but i don't have the specs to use it at 8khz so i set it at 2khz to 4khz depending on the game
    >a razer deathadder which lasted a year and i threw away in disgust into the bin and i hated this mouse so much it almost put me off razer entirely

Coolermaster you motherfuckers, you were THIS close to creating perfection. Should've just slapped the MM711 scroll wheel in and called it a day.
