I emulated it via RPCS3. Look up some config settings and it plays fine. There is crazy screen tearing, though.

Because it condensed the game to its best parts. As short as Asura's Wrath game was it's simultaneously also too long for how simple it is. Not to mention DLC also does some new things like combine ground and aerial combat in that one level.

This, the DLC feels like the crammed everything they could into one hour of non stop over the top madness and it's fricking glorious.
And even after all that punching and yelling, the ending still hits like a truck.

This game is like a 6.5/10 with just the normal ending but with the DLC it becomes an unforgettable experience. I've been listening to the soundtrack for 12 years.

combat system in the game is simply unsuited to a fighting game moveset those characters use. so devs compensate by giving them "frick you, here goes 30% of your health bar" moves.

I want a remaster of this game, but knowing Capcom, they will sell the ending as a dlc again, just like Separate ways for Re4

  10. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

Did I get some Director's Cut Edition then or something? Because I don't remember paying for that ending after I bought the initial game. It would make sense since I bought the PC3 on Black Friday a few years after it came out and then bought all the "must play" exclusives on it obviously after their release, so probably some Special Edition or whatever with all DLC and stuff.

    >Who remembers Asura's Wrath selling ending as separate DLC?
Actually this was a good thing.
It was supposed to be a sequel, but they were not able to make the sequel.
Would you rather you NEVER get the full Asura's Wrath story?
They managed to implement the main points of the sequel through DLC:

      Anonymous

bigger problem was ending itself, especially the true ending episode you have to unlock, felt really weak and latter was a massive cliffhanger.

The DLC was the remains of a scrapped sequel put together so the story would actually have closure. Makes one wonder what an entire second game would have been padded by, if it still contained many of the same important beats. Perhaps Chakravartan would send out 'failures' from previous cycles to test you or something.

I can't find any source for this besides a youtuber giving Capcom the benefit of the doubt and saying this as a theory. I really don't buy it because the DLC came out like 2 or 3 months after the game released. That's really not enough time to decide whether a sequel to the game is going to be green-lit or not, then find a coherent way to cut down a sequel and then actually make it in that short time span. If it came out like half a year or a year after then it would be more plausible. I'm almost positive selling the ending as DLC was a planned thing that Capcom thought they could probably get away with.

Is anyone else experiencing "Connection errors" every few minutes? Thumbnails, images and new posts stop loading, threads don't open, can't update any thread or catalog. It happens when using Ganker X. But I can access any other website on the internet during that time, so it's not my ISP.

            Anonymous

I think different teams lipsynched the game to different languages. Some moments in Asuras Wrath it syncs really well to Japanese (I remember the hot spring episode did, as did Kalrow's final speech), some to English (wanna say Wyzen battle, but dont remember), some to Netiher

Asuras wrath is interesting because it's absolutely rife with flaws from top to bottom. From gameplay to story, to the fact that there was supposed to originally be an entire sequel that got instead hastily scrapped and crammed together into the dlc, and the simple fact that game is loaded with QTEs.

And yet the game is beloved, because it really cinched its own style.

I only played it semi-recently for the first time. I only knew it back in the day as the movie game that everyone shit talked, funny how times have changed, but decided to emulate it. Man is so angry he wouldn't even die if he was killed, is so over the top masculine energy I loved every second of the game. The combat was different and it was mostly cutscenes, but I like yakzua games so this is no different.

I feel like a lot of people are probably in similar shoes and haven't played the game to which I'd highly recommend it. It holds up very well and if anything has probably aged like fine wine.

Stricktly speaking they were hyper advanced cyborgs powered by souls/emotions but official sources call them demigods or gods, the latter's a fair description when they do weird things like turning into stone, dissipate into nothingness or coming back from the dead and knowing about the afterlife

this was objectively bullshit and means this game is going to be emulator only if not outright lost media eventually unless it gets a re-release but also I kind of respect it

asuras wrath is just an interactive anime, it's got more in common with dragons lair then it does an actual video game - the idea that the "true" ending of the series is a movie you gotta buy separately was very common with 80s/90s/early 00's anime that the devs would've been watching growing up before making this game
