My ability to discern how shit a game is gonna be by how many "Punch a bigot" and "Be gay do crime" characters there are is quite refined.
Because if they put shit like that in the game, there's a good chance they're not going to deliver on any other aspects of the game I enjoy.
there are several characters ingame who literally tell you "diversity is our strength", most notably that asura guy in lionsarch, I believe he stands at the stargates.
This game has been ridiculing gw1 from the start. The original creators left years ago because they didn't like working in a big team anymore, basically saying they lost control in this woke corporate mess.
Combat, open world, visual customization, lots of QoL shit that comes with games that aren't over 15 years old, etc. GW1 does tone and atmosphere better along with build variety and PvP, but GW2 is better in every other way.
I played GW2 during launch, during HoT launch and recently for several months during last spring, and just before the SoO release
I've also been re-playing GW1 during the last half a year and I played it from Factions to EotN and beyond end of life
Combo fields and the various type of finishers to get effects from them was a great idea.
But in GW2 the combos are so weak they're mostly pointless except for in PvP where certain combos grant weakness/blindness/stealth and are borderline overpowered
Different weapons having entirely different profession based basic attacks would be great, if it did not determine half of your fucking skills at the same time
Traits are a nice idea, but are horribly unbalanced so they end up just being power creep instead of a real choice.
There are some niche trait combos, like you can make a borderline immortal revive necro for group open world content, but 99% of the time a max dps whore is the best option

Also some the base game human and norn areas are great
I'd argue Queensdale, Wayfarer Foothills and Snowden Drifts are better than MOST GW1 areas
Asura, Sylvari and Charr areas all fall flat on their face. All lvl60+ areas fall flat on their face.
I can't remember where I read it, but apparently far more of the original GW1 team and original GW2 concepts were used for early human and norn areas, in addition to GW1 establishing a "feel" for humans and EotN for norns giving a good flow for design as they knew what they were doing already.
wvw is or was the only fun thing in the game really

I hate GW2 with a passion, but its open world stuff really is better than 1's instances. There's a surprising amount of detail with hidden shit everywhere. Events that seem unrelated often will have some kind of connecting tissue if you follow the NPCs around.
1's missions are still better than 2's Fractals/Dungeons though.
And while 1's pvp is leagues better than 2's, WvW is a solid mode in its own right.
It has jumping and had cool jumping puzzles.
That's literally it. Maybe dress up options, but many of those are clown tier anyways.

>combat
Bitch you shut your whore ass up before i slap you again.
The open world and freedom of movement is better than the first game. I also like being able to play as norn. The first game did virtually everything else better.
Congrats man and welcome to the club! That is a real accomplishment that you should be proud of. I assume you use Vanq daily quest to your advantage to knock out certain areas and mission?
If for some retarded reason you still play GW2, you can wear that title and be happy like 99% of the playerbase won't have that title.
I have started playing GW2 again recently after shitting on it for like 9 years. I mostly just login to do WvW with my guild full of actual boomers and nothing else. I hate how they added a parody gwamm title you can get from fishing because I constantly have to do double takes to see if it's the real gwamm or Cod Swimming Amongst Mere Minnows.
Touch Ranger is such a based build. No build has cause more rage than this. Its even funnier that most of those players didn't realize that walking away from Touch Ranger is their biggest weakness.
I don't even have a pve ranger, the guy mistook me for someone else. This was my congratulations for gwamm.
Made me laugh and reminded me of better times.
GW is going to outlive your shitty homosexual game and all the rainbowhair troons and furfags like you will -ACK themselves when that happens. The thought warms my heart.
The only games that have "jumping puzzles" are the ones with terrible platforming mechanics, with the goal being to learn how to exploit the massive flaws within said mechanics much like a bad game from the 80s and 90s
They hate how popular she is. so they made her had a one night stand with a black guy and gave birth to one of the most retarded character in GW2. That how spiteful those writers are.
I pay attention to all games. I receive trailers. I browse gaming news. This is the first time I hear about a GW2 expansion or that the game was still even remotely active.
Granted, I have been on a month long pornographic game binge so I did miss some news here and there.
I don't get how the reviewers can all praise the story in this game when even at the best of times its still below the quality of an ironic runescape quest. I have to assume all of them have been brain rotted by anime or something worse

Dragonstorm, seen here
um sweaty that's actually drakkar not jormag 🙂
is a great example of one of these moments. Primordus (the lava one) was built up from back at the end of GW1 and was teased earlier in GW2s life when you descended into a massive volcano and all you can see is his head sticking out of the lava. You're going down there because he's starting to wake up and in a contrived fashion you manage to put him back to sleep for a while. It was a pretty good tease of the scale of what his final appearance/battle was hopefully going to be like. He isn't seen again until the battle in that screenshot where he dies immediately and is only ever seen as that big head. Jormag, the white one, also had some good build up. Over the years Jormag was portrayed as the most cunning of the dragons, using manipulation and deception to further her agenda and you see some of this firsthand when the Icebrood Saga started. In that first zone she whispers to you, other players and even NPCs and she even sometimes succeeds in temporarily controlling normally friendly NPCs in the area and the entire zone had a pretty spooky atmosphere. It was pretty memorable. All that cool master manipulator stuff is the undermined when you trick the trickster into fighting the lava dragon in a cutscene battle that kills them both because they had to end the story quickly and get to work on the expansion.
All that without mentioning that Jormag's army of mind controlled Charr were a purposeful allegory for Trump supporters and that Jormag was retconned to a they/them and the player knows this intrinsically and respects it even when she's trying to mind control you and kill everyone.
Anything cool they do they just fuck up later.

Oh boy, here we go.
So over in Cantha you find the sixth, final dragon, the sea dragon Soo-Won (who looks like a basic bitch eastern noodle dragon, way smaller than the other dragons). It turns out she was the mother of all the other dragons and the original creator of Tyria. See, she created the world and magic from the Void and created the other dragons in order to filter the Void energy into other forms. As the dragons were killed, the Void magic within them has manifested into the malicious Dragonvoid (I'm not making this term up), which would destroy the world and return it to its natural state of undifferentiated Void. Soo-Won has been struggling to contain the corruption of the Dragonvoid, including the growing Void corruption inside her.
So this whole time while the other dragons have been running rampant, she's just been chilling with Joon, half-sister of the empress and a genius inventor who figured out how to make magitech that rivals the Asura based on jade infused with dragon magic. When you finally talk to her, Soo-Won says she can't hold back the corruption much longer, so her plan is to pass off the reins to Aurene and let her be the new mother dragon balance goddess thing. There's a lot of drama about fighting the corrupted Soo-Won and Aurene cleansing the Dragonvoid and taking up the mantle of balance and so on. It's all so very tiresome and all that matters is that Soo-Won is dead, the dragon cycle is over, and Aurene is now Super Dragon Balance God and fucks off to do her balance stuff.

Fuck me, I stopped playing awhile ago, but I remember wanting to fight every elder dragon at some point in the game. Zhaitan sucked dick, but I figured they'd learn from that mistake and make each subsequent dragon a proper fight. That's horrendous. Was I the only one that was hyped to take on each of the elder dragons at some point at the beginning of the game? Did they rush things along so much because most people were sick of the dragons or something?

After Heart of Thorns, they got stuck on this plot point for a long ass time that just straight up killing the dragons was bad because it disrupted the balance of magic and would destroy the world. That's why they make you kill Balthazar. He was being too based about not abandoning humanity like the other gods and wanting to kill all the dragons. Of course no one actually asked him what his plan for dealing with the dragon magic was. Everyone just sort of assumed he didn't have a plan and was gonna get everyone killed and never really talked to him about it.
Eventually they use Aurene, Glint's baby who bonds to (you), as the go-to macguffin for dealing with the bad dragon magic.
As for the dragon fights, you do technically fight and kill all of them.
>Zhaitan's fight is lame >Mordremoth has a cool fight with his plant-snake physical form, but you actually kill him by invading his mind and doing a kinda lame mindscape fight >Kralkatorrik has a really cool, cinematic fight where you bait him into a cave and fly around him blasting weak points and helping your allies. Of course this isn't how you actually beat him. That would've been too cool and satisfying. Instead you invade his mind (along with Aurene) and do another lame mindscape fight >Jormag and Primordus kill each other in a super contrived, super anticlimactic fight that the other guy talked about >Suu-Won gets a fairly cinematic fight where you fight her. Periodically Dragonvoid™ versions of the dead dragons show up and it's kinda cool. Then she gets one last moment of clarity before she dies peacefully. Truly touching, I crieded erry tiem.

Haven't fought any past Mordremoth, but that's criminal what they did to Jormag/Primordus. Primordus especially being so heavily involved with Eye of the North (can't remember if it was directly/indirectly, but still).

It can't be understated how fucking dumb Dragonstorm was. Something the other guy didn't talk much about was that a key part of the premise was fucking Braham becoming Primordus' champion. Basically he went down to Primordus with the Spirits of the Wild in tow and offered himself up to Primordus. The idea was that the Spirits would help Braham retain his will so that he could guide Primordus into confronting Jormag. Somehow this was entirely successful instead of resulting in Braham and the Spirits getting consumed.

It's been awhile since I was into the lore of Guild Wars, but you seem to know what's up. Weren't there only five elder dragons originally in Guild Wars 1, with only four known explicitly but the fifth rumored to be a deep sea dragon? Then Mordremoth was a surprise, bringing the supposed total up to six, but the deep sea dragon was still mostly unknown during HoT?

The existence of the sea dragon was known since the start, but details were sparse to none until End of Dragons. For a long time, basically all we knew was that its name started with "S", hence why it was nicknamed Steve.

That seems familiar. Mordremoth was a full on surprise though, right? I'm reading on the wiki that "more learned" individuals knew of its existence, but the player didn't know until HoT or maybe the Living World Seasons preceding it?

Anonymous
There were a lot of suggestions towards Mordremoth's existence if you dug around. As I recall, even his name was revealed if you looked at the attack names of some boss in the Crucible of Eternity dungeon that was supposed to be an experimental amalgamation of dragon minions. But yes, he wasn't directly known in the base game.

I'll probably play through the first game and actually take the time to do side quests and read stuff, which is something I never did when I was younger. If I make it through all of that, I'll at least try the second game again on a new char to see if it appeals to me at all. I do remember enjoying the exploration aspect of the game at least.
I thought their biggest weakness was that retarded morbidly obese lesbian(for attention) who keeps putting blacks, gays and trannies into everything
also, hard to advertise a game that looks like this
the whole game is covered in this yellowish fog at all times, it's so fucking bad
and for whatever reason, even after they developed flying somehow they have the "ceiling" of the map extremely low
the older maps especially, if you try to get some altitude to use the griffin you hit the ceiling immediately
also the combat is pure shit with no redeeming qualities, it feels like molasses and the people who still play are more delusional about it than XIV trannies when they talk about how 200ms server delay and slidecasting is actually good for the game
>There was an expansion?
Not really instead they’re just selling tiny updates now, the latest “expansion” only had two zones, no new mounts and no new specs. They are giving each class a new weapon but to pad out the expansion they’re holding that hostage until the end as they have nothing else.
I miss it every day unironically.
I know it still exists and is playable but to those of us that were there during the prime of the game going back now is just a depression tour of what used to be.
What earning report? I don't really like the expansion, but the player numbers have been incredible steady for the past year and a half (I'm not sure how). They blundered the expansion by making the world world legendary armor grind just shitty rifts. The strikes are also horrendous compared to End of Dragons. I'm not sure who they made this expansion for. I was excited going into it. I had just gotten my legendary armor from raid finished and was working on 3 other legendaries, but the expansion killed any hope I had for the future of the game. Still worth playing just for the first 3 expansions, but future looks bleak.
Yeah I came back after like quitting at launch, I have everything up to the new expansion and the old content holds it up really well but it got boring as fuck doing rifts, wizards tower, and amnytas all day. Only reason why I'm even back is because there's not much to do in 14 for me outside of some raiding groups to help friends, so one of my static mates wanted to do some laid back guild wars CM raiding.
Another reason the expansion feels underwhelming is because of the story missions. If you look at previous expansions many story missions takes place on their own maps that were designed just for the story. EoD in particular had some very intricate story missions (the jade bot puzzle mansion and underwater lab). In SotO every single story mission just takes place on the open world maps and all you do is walk from place to place killing enemies which makes it feel very cheap. They can make smaller expansions, but the quality needs to be up the par with the full expansion... not this shit.
Very true, story felt weak as fuck, especially after going through everything to it. It really just feels like a crappy living world season. At the very least weapon mastery is fun but it's not really enough
Too heavy, too light, too black or too white, too wrong or too right
Today or tonight, cumbersome
Too rich or too poor, she's wanting me less and I'm wanting her more
The bitter taste is cumbersome
No, yeah, no-no, no
No-no, no, yeah
what even was the new expansions about. all I saw about it was that it was related to the wizard's tower. it looked half-assed. even more than the previous ones. they couldn't even get me to buy the Cantha expansion because the SJW garbage already made me quit the game by that point.
The real reason is because the expansion killed dailies. Half the player base is now locked out if them because you need the expansion to get the rewards. I’ve logged in daily for years sometimes just for the daily reward and sometimes to play. It I haven’t touched the game since the expansion dropped cause I can’t get my daily rewards anymore.
PVP being shilled as much as it was did NOT help warplots were such a fucking mistake what world of warcraft player's PC in 2013 could run a 40v40 battleground with that many effects and shit happening.
Arenas were fine but im not a PVP in MMOs fan it was so cringe how much it was pushed. Wish we could get like ONE official server back up but thats never gonna happen
in theory this game was ok.
in reality I just held down 1 button on my healing medic and got gold on all 4 dungeons and quit after doing the 20 man because it was boring.
All of the Wildstar females were masturbated to.
Even the robot lady. Trust me, I lost weight and gained muscle mass in my right arm when those trailers for the game coomed out.
>Sell a patch as a mini expansion >Literally no new subclasses or shake-ups >First leg after your multi-decade-long dragon saga is just vague incoherent mumbling about 'muh demons'
Who could have predicted this result?
Imagine hyping dragons for 16 years and finishing it with a wet fart then going for muh demons instead of going back to the Underworld or Fissure of Woe
It's funny because the meltdowns people are having over the recent Bungie firings already happened to ArenaNet, which is why they're now selling living world patches as real expansions
Reminder that >>>/vm/ has an active Guild Wars thread + guild with people around if you want to play sometime or just want an invite. We're not as active as we used to be (ran through the three campaigns weekly until overall loss of interest) but four of us just ran HM UW for Halloween a couple weeks ago.
I actually liked it when it lost but it was so mismanaged with the Living Story shit and the busy work expansions, sometimes I think about playing again but then I remember how they replaced the soulful old Lion's Arch with a concrete plaza.
Some of my best memories was with guild wars 1, having my gf's parents get mad because I was on her computer when they had dial up, taking a rando pvp group so far they give you an organized group and you get crushed, running people across missions for tips with my warrior/ranger. God, I miss that game.
>taking a rando pvp group so far they give you an organized group and you get crushed
Fuck, I loved doing that too. Theorycrafting teamcomps for Heroes' Ascent, managing to convince 7 other people to accompany me and run my builds despite having no rank, and every once in awhile making it several stages deep and even to the Hall of Heroes.
oh come on anon, it's not a massively multiplayer game in literally any sense, it's an rpg with multiplayer elements which a large portion of people don't ever even interact with
i'm not even sure why that could ever even offend you, mmo's are generally trash and not worth being associated with
>oh come on anon
no you bitch, I've had this argument with naggers since 2005 and I'm tired, it has millions of players and cities boomed with life, it's an mmo just like destiny 2 is an mmo
I had fun with GW2, but after being lied to about WvW for so long, I had to drop it. I did come back for a hot minute when they finally made WvW viable with massive fucking rewards, and it was suddenly active and full of PUGs instead of the same blob guilds. Then they nerfed it all, and everyone left. It was a genuine betrayal...

They should have pushed WvW as the main draw of the game. It's such a fantastic game mode.
GW2 had FIVE pillars, and they flubbed all of them.
-Open World was meant for people who can't spend too much time playing each day. Go do world boss trains, or explore the map, or do specific daily quests to get rare materials to make a profit on the TP. World Boss and map rewards weren't updated or balanced with each new expansion, making this only for title hunters.
-Dungeons tried to have max-level paths, the Aetherblade paths, and finally it was scrapped for fractals. Then they hardly released new fractals, something that should have been done every three months. All this mode is for making huge profits without making friends.
-Raids were supposed to be a big fuckin' deal and mandatory for legendary gear. But Anet couldn't be assed to make at least one new raid per year, so now only turboautist elitists run these.
-PvP is an actual scam. Use real money to buy gems from Anet, which you then trade to players who fix ranked matches via the secret Discord server. Anet pretends it doesn't exist, and gets even more money from people buying titles. Anet also refuses to ban bots, to keep their player count up.
-WvW offers rewards at 1/4th the rate of PvE, never updated their Alpine map, refused to address major bugs, never properly balanced scoring so Maguuma kept dominating, actively discouraged fighting on objectives, and refused to address the guild blobbing as "combat" issue.
Do you want to play GW2 when this is what they offer you?
>Use real money to buy gems from Anet, which you then trade to players who fix ranked matches via the secret Discord server.
Wait, what? That's hilarious.
that's all very interesting, but the main issues were always the aesthetic and the combat.
The aesthetic is bad. Just feels like a bunch of random shit piled together, there's no thematic cohesion and no vibe to anything. The entire game, up to POF when I last played, feels like someone shuffled a bunch of unity assets into a map. The classes have a similar feel where everything feels like a scrapper due to being forced into swapping between 2 weapon sets.
The combat is shit. It just plays like shit and appeals to no one.
It's not responsive enough to be a competitive game, or even a satisfying game to get good at, and it's too spastic and schizoid to be a relaxing game where you watch your numbers go up.
Vanilla WoW combat captured so many because it somehow managed to be both, at the same time.
Retail WoW's is similarly spastic and schizoid with its 50000 procs to keep track of, but at least it's still responsive enough to be satisfying.
XIV is borderline tolerable because it manages to be the latter, often becoming extremely boring.
GW2's combat is the worst of both worlds. It is an actual pain to play.
The boon system is the dumbest shit ever conceived and it actually makes the game harder to follow, and utterly indecipherable for people from the outside looking at footage of the game, trying to decide if they want to buy it or not.
Should I make my first character with the intention of taking it through all the expansions? What's a fun class that requires some thought and isn't just repetitive spamming?
Depending on what campaign you start with, you can start with different professions.
To play assassin or ritualist you need to start in Fations. To play dervish or paragon you need to start Nightfall.
I'd advise you to start with Nightfall as dervish. They're fairly powerful but don't require you to know the game in and out, like mesmers do. Starting with Nightfall will also let you get heroes (customizable party members) way faster than if you had started in any other campaign.
>Should I make my first character with the intention of taking it through all the expansions?
Yes
Every class requires thought if you get into the buildmaking aspect of the game. There are literally hundreds of abilities you can choose from. Otherwise, something like mesmer maybe. It's a largely reactive class that focuses on countering the actions of its opponents, so you need to pay attention to the enemy types and what they're doing to maximize your usefulness. They still have some direct damage abilities too though.
This was the first Halloween since I started playing Guild Wars Prophecies that I skipped a Guild Wars event. Even if I haven't played all year, I come back to Guild Wars for Halloween, I just didn't this year.
>Speaking of Charr why does no one complain about what they did to Ascalon in-universe or out?
Because we must all hold hands and be together and diversity is our strength. You get beaten over with the unity stick throughout the entirety of the personal story.
Besides, it was a war, wasn't it? GW humans are alien naggers that barged into a planet they did not belong to and ran charr off those territories. What were the charr supposed to do, NOT exterminate the pests?
>Speaking of Charr why does no one complain about what they did to Ascalon in-universe or out?
Well first of all it's been 250 years.
And the land was the charrs land first
and the charr agreed, over time, to outcast the fanatical group that was responsible for actual act.
what the fuck more do you want them to do? suck you off?
The Charr were an invasive race bent on complete conquest of Tyria and beyond. GW2's retcons are disgusting. They were not peaceful dindus that just wanted to live in Ascalon.
>And the land was the charrs land first
Ascalon was Forgotten lands first. Charrs invaded from the North and genocided them until they fled to the Crystal Desert.
Yes. I played a lot of Alliance Battles.

That's all fine and good but from a story and gameplay standpoint, them being eternal cereal pissers was much more interesting.
It should've been >250 years later >The original reason why the Luxons and Kurzicks were unified at all has been lost after the devastation wrought by the dragons >Now that the dragons are gone, they're back to pissing in eachother's cereals, only having pieces of their history that refer to their wars and grudges

if you wait around a bit at the proper times yeah
or if its a double faction event
Because after the time gap anyone that still gives a shit about Ascalon or the Searing is an extremist. Also all of Ascalon was originally Charr territory anyway and the Searing is just expelling evil conquerors. That's the way its presented in GW2 at least.
Is it acknowledged as revisionist history in-universe or was it a retcon?

The Krytan humans might not give a shit, but there's a whole zone where the descendants of the Ascalonians have a city called Ebonhawke and until recently were fighting the Charr, at the time of the game there's a ceasefire but extremists on either side still want to fight.
You're not supposed to have a mount until you start the second expansion. Everything before that expansion was designed to be traversed on foot, + with a glider if it's the first expansion.
people that played gw1 hate gw2
and people that dont know gw1 love gw2
I'm the latter but Im having so much joy Im glad I'm not bitter and jaded about it
BG3 just killed any momentum GW2 had. It's that simple and tragic.
If Arenanet knows what's good for them, they'll hire a competent writing team, and get to working on a true GW1 sequel.
>easiest fix to thief is that it deals more damage with more initiative, and a damage reduction at 0 >told this to anet on the forums multiple times >they never did it
:/
I made a forum thread about increasing the difficult of old world bosses to not make them irrelevant content, and I was met with droves of Anet retards telling me >That content is supposed to be easy because it's for low level players
Meanwhile the "easy" content for "low level players" is shit like Fire Elemental literally dying in 3 seconds by a bunch of people half-asleep at max level.
Then they complain that nobody knows how to play against the game's mechanics in endgame content.
Why would they know how to actually play the game, they never had to learn how to do so to get ahead.
haha remember how after 10 years into the game they added tutorial achievements because players didn't know how to dodge lmao
But seriously though the more the game progressed the more I realized that those in charge don't have any idea what they're doing with the game. I should have known when I was told constantly that all the devs do is ERP, but I thought it was a myth.
Also in GW1 PvE mobs had actual party comps and used 99% the same skills as players so it helped prepare for PvP if people stepped into it. God damn it was a masterpiece.
I like how the dev were spiteful enough to just add Metabuild into later mobs. And sometime, they buff elite for the sole purpose of fucking players over when they fight against it.
every time i hear about this game, I get the words "Lost Generation" stuck in my head
Is there even a way to play Guild Wars 1 at this point, or did it go the way of that old battletech mmo? most people didn't even know guild wars 2 was a thing until it launched on steam.
What even is "Guild Wars"? it seems to be a game that slipped over into our timeline from an alternate timeline like a reverse mandela effect.
to test this I'll ask you all this: doesn't ANYone remember the Jak & Daxter MMO? Jak & Daxter online was rivaling WoW at some points in the late 2000s and suddenly I see people stopped talking about it. nobody remembers, and when I look it up, there's no records.
WHERE ARE ALL OUR GAMES?!
WHERE ARE THEY?!?!
WHERE!!!!!!
I was excited for GW2 in 2012 and almost bought it, but went for MoP instead because my friend was playing it. and I kinda regretted it ever since.
is it still worth getting into now? I see that everyone in this thread prefers GW1, but is GW2 still fun for leveling or anything?
anon, if you think wow is bad, gw2 manages to be worse, in all aspects
the story is awful, the updates inconsistent, the game is so woke it calls blizz writing conservative nazi shit
the gameplay is essentially grinding open world shit for loot
and there is no hardcore raids, the players want to gaslight you in believing fractals are somehow equivalent to mythic
fractals are essentially 3,4 min dungeons glued together for a "floor" with a debuff that you completely negates by sinking gold in your gear for agony resistance
yes because doing something piss easy every day for years means fun
i bet you scream like a girl when they release a new fractal, ohh boy, another 3 min dungeon for a whole year, we eating good gaywars 2 sisters
Story is shit, every expansion has been shit. Leveling is okay but still jank after a decade lmao. The one thing that's actually been fun is playing the economy and crafting legendary weapons. WvW is also cool in phases.
For the oldfag players that haven't played in many years: I recommend going back for the Wayfarer's Reverie event some day. It takes you back on quests throughout a lot of old vistas in the game. Did it with my good friend that used to play with me all the time. Would recommend.

This is why I love how LoTRO did HP. It's not actually health, it's morale. When you 'die' your character retreats to safety(respawn zone).
Never seen another MMO do that so the constant dying and reviving is always extremely retarded.

In City of Heroes you get teleported to a hospital right before death.
That was a gw2 ss. You're right about gw1 though. Pre-heroes when most people were forming actual groups and mission outposts were well-populated was peak
It was definitely annoying to wait, but it was a lot more fun grouping with mostly real people. You could often swing it with the healer henchman too if your group wasn't terrible.
I for once hope that all anet staff gets fired and the studio shut
all good devs left already, there is nothing of value to lose there, and they still have the balls to act like Colin sohandsome being back is a good sign when this fucker was the single responsible for all the clownfiesta that was season 1 , scarlet and zaithan press E to win fight
I remember the vague original ideas for them sounded cool and actually being hyped from the teaser in GW1 then they were turned into what they are now.
Now that I think about it, is there any actual prominent gay couple like the lesbians? There's Rytlock and Logan's fujobaiting at best, and some subtle references at worst.
It really does tell you something doesn't it, that they won't explore that dynamic but they'll explore lesbianism uwu lovey dovey emotional drama romance.
>Was hyped for GW2 since its first mention in 2007 >Took a train to London to play it at an event in 2011 >Had to wait in line for hours to play for 15 mins >Pre-purchased the game >Managed to get into a stress test despite not being invited but somehow it worked because I had the client already downloaded >Played every beta >Was there on day 1 of early access release
Yeah, I think I played it.
I'm just saying I was also hyped as fuck for it, played all the betas and stress tests, and was still disappointed by the final product. Just like that other guy.
I know, I was too. I played the open beta and I couldn't believe how it was nothing like Guild Wars, it was just another generic mmo.

I play through the beta and I honestly do not mind if it tries not to be GW1. And then they start taking a dump on the game with sylvari, Trahearne, and fucking Living World.
I had fun for the first few months even though the game wasn't like GW1. It just didn't have nearly the same longevity for me. The only endgame at first was chasing legendary weapons which was mostly a huge scavenger hunt/gold farm. Compared to the rare weapons in GW1 you got as a reward from endgame instances, there wasn't the same variety or excitement. The build system of the first game, along with the variety of game modes (GvG, Heroes' Ascent, Random Arenas, Team Arenas, the Factions stuff, and even the misc. low level arenas that used to be populated), also made PvP substantially more interesting than the zergfest of WvW and monotonous arenas of GW2. The personal story missions were a massive downgrade to the campaign missions of GW1 too. Fuck, I could go on, but these are all common complaints I imagine.

I don't blame you and I would agree. I love dungeoning in that game, I love WvW and all the banter in WvW subforum before Anet deleted it because its shitposting fest, and I certainly love big cats, but god dammit if I hate the story post level 20 so much.

yeah because it sucks. I played that shit at gamescom when it was shown off and it sucked dick back then already. Also >hur dur read this book to undestand what happened inbetween
they killed the franchise
>hur dur read this book to undestand what happened inbetween
It's not like you need to know more than the basics.
>Dragons are fucking shit up >The gods are non-communicado >Ascalon ghost-nuked itself >Kryta got rid of the White Mantle and has a queen >Lion's Arch got flooded and is now pirate town >Based Joko rules Elona with an iron, but fair fist >Cantha is isolated >Norn moved further south because dragons >Dwarves are all dead >Asura built more shit on the surface >Charr are the same but with no gods and more guns >That tree that Ventari was tending became big and popped out a bunch of effeminate vege-elves >The Tengu live in a big walled off city (which the writers probably forgot about)
But GW1 players did play GW2, along with a ton of other people, who then all quit weeks after launch because the game was garbage and the developers had to promptly back pedal on some of their retarded designs like not having dedicated healers.
No it fucking doesn't. You literally have restrictions on using the fucking trading post of all things.
Also the story is fucking garbage and has one of the most embarrassing endings in any MMO. Get the fuck out of here with that "IT HAS SOURRR MUCH CAHNTENT XD" You literally run around filling gay hearts up and doing BROKEN AND BUGGY events that STILL aren't fixed while only having access to DOGSHIT base classes that aren't useful as a solo. Fuck off.
You have to BUY expansions to have any meaningful shit to do and even then the endgame of this middle-aged audience is chasing infusions and doing horizontal gearchecks in WvW and trying to duel a daze thief that's macroing.
Game fucking sucks.
There's a reason WoW and FF14 are still the kings of MMORPGS and gw2 is left in the dust.
GW2 is a game for old people that don't have time to do fucking anything, it's a game for fucking third-worlders and austrailians to mope around on in WVW because they're too goddamn poor to play anything worth shit.

Bro every MMO is dying a slow death, some slower than others. The genre is cooked and it's too expensive to actually innovate for companies.
>GW2 actually has a lot of content.
Lol no. Especially for a F2Per >lol dungeon dead >open world quest is shit >heart is just normal questing without running to the quest giver >lol botted pvp >can't even WvW early on, or care since you will get one shooted >you will walk slow as fuck while people with expansion would ride their mount and jump over you >instant kick if you try to Fractal >all the "side games" has no rewards >open world boss awards are bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag full of trash >maybe ONE ecto from a salvage >limited fashion, skill, and gearing >Some of the worst story telling in mmo >some of the WORST characters in mmo
I'm remembering my experience as a new player, and you're right.
A new player's experience is going to be fucking horrendous.
They're not gonna get to fight any cool world bosses or do any of the dungeons.
I recall trying to get my wife to play GW2 and she loves MMOs. She was really interested in it, and she was disappointed that everything in the world seemed to be cleaned out the moment she got to it.
The first boss she saw was the Shadow Behemoth and it was a very exciting moment; until she realized it was impossible to lose the fight no matter what.
I'll be honest, I didn't really hate Trahearne that much. And at this point, I'd gladly take him over the fucking dogshit characters we got from HoT and onward. Though god knows they would've given Trahearne some gay buttbuddy by now if he'd lived, so it would've been a wash.
The biggest issue about being f2p in WvW is that all the meta zerg builds are generally elite specs. So some commanders might just remove you from the squad if they're kicking non-meta builds. But you don't really need the warclaw, other peoples warclaws buff your speed so you can keep up with the zerg even when running. Also I doubt anyone is instant kicking anyone else out of a T1 fractal, they're designed to be face roll. I don't think people in fractals even pay attention to comp until t4 maybe t3.
The rest of the points are true though. I've played the whole story and the only character I liked was Canach
Sounds good enough for me. I should be good on mmos for a bit by time I finish whatever it has to offer if its a lot.
I am not being ironic, just play FF14 free trial. It offer a lot more stuff than GW 2. Or not play MMO in general or play a private server if you're that desperate.
I've played XIV a lot, I quit after Shadowbringers since they cut out a ton of skills including WAR stances making the job infinitely less fun. The game peaked with Heavenswards final patch and has yet to recover. I'll maybe try it again if they ever add a new tank job.
Man, I was so excited for this game before it released and after it did I actually did like it for a time, think it would've been a lot better received if it wasn't a Guild Wars sequel. But then every decision they made after releasing it was a bad one, kind of sad to think about what it could've been with competent people in charge.
Everyone in these threads haven't touched GW2 within the last 6 years. Their opinions hold no merit and just watch some honest YT vids if you want to know on whether you should play.
I quit in Echovald Forest in End of Dragons because I was disgusted over what they did to Cantha along with all the bullshit modern day crap they jammed into it. My character is still parked where I exited to desktop and nothing has pulled me back in.
I saw the shitfest that is Nonbinary Ice Dragon and sleepy fire dragon killing each other while Gayham got away with causing a civil war and a possible death of HUNDREDS of people because of his retardness. Fuck you and fuck Gayham.
Anet refuses to update the new player experience. If you don't already have 200 hours in the game, you're shit out of luck, late to the fuckin party. And the party's getting fucking stale.
The newbie achievements were a good step but in typical Anet fashion they never expanded on them. Not to mention you level so fast now there's a real chance you can miss out on some item achievements because the gear stops dropping kek
Yeah, no shit.
I don't know fucking anybody who wants some soulless class-less easy-mode MMORPG.
The reason people played GW1 was because it was the opposite of that.
>I don't even remember why we did it.
Probably for the same reason people play healer in other game- attention whoring.
Anyway people just took Alesia and tried weird stuff like E/Mo and didn't negotiate with terrorist scum.
Thunderhead Keep was a giant filter for many players. You can build however you want, but that doesn't mean its good. This lead to players running Frenzy+Mending+Healing Sig builds that would cause them to die instantly. Monk players in general are shit, but they know they're needed and attention whore with that strike. You can't run the henchmen healer since she will die instantly to any mursaats and dwarves. To this day, I wonder how a guild group let a wammo like me in their team and clear that mission while the strike was still up.
Because in hindsight, Thunderhead Keep wasn't that hard; we were all just shit at the game. You can clear with bad players as long as you manage your pull size properly.
Yeah, its just a matter of not aggroing two group at the same time, and making sure the person you bring has infusion in their armor. It felt good going to the fire island, regardless.
As someone who played GW1, WoW, and GW2 all on release...GW1 was complete dogshit and clearly the worst game out of these 3 games, you nostalgia morons are insufferable. The only reason anyone even played for more than a week was because they couldn't convince their mom to pay for WoW.
>sold a content patch as an expansion
Anet isn't big enough to get away with something that dumb. WoW probably could but GW2 has some of the worst player retention in the market.
It's not an MMO that keeps players around constantly. A lot of coming and going, it's not good as a main MMO like more traditional ones such as FFXIV and WoW.
I can't believe they got rid of all the different cultures of Factions in End of Dragons to just replace it with Korean shit only. It's so depressing to go around Echovald Forest and you see all the Kurzick stuff in ruins and just replaced by generic Korean huts for the towns.
There's a lot of things I don't like about GW2, but what they did to Cantha is the one that gets under my skin the most. They took a flavorful setting and completely fucking demolished it in favor of chasing the stupid fucking kimchi trend. And fucking Joon is the Maryest of Sues they've written, which says a lot when you're talking about GW2.
It's amazing that the new "expansion" has managed to go on for two episodes without Taimi telling us what to do. She's been in charge of the plot for so long that I feel lost and confused without her.
All this demon and wizard shit is weird and retarded. I'm just waiting for them to pull another Nightfall and reveal Eparch is the one who made Abaddon evil in the first place.
>inb4 he's somehow responsible for making the dragons evil too
>BG3 >Path of Exile
what the FUCK is this chart trying to convey fucking lmao
Does even having an optional online coop mode count as being an MMO these days? Jesus fucking Christ
You can only serve people "your character will never get stronger" for so long before interest dries up. People want a gear treadmill and a traditional dungeon/raid structure.
If you don't have that and then also fuck up all of your writing and story on top of that, it is bound to fail eventually.
I quit midway into path of fire and never came back so it's no surprise that anet is struggling to keep the game relevant. i was a day 1 beta player and put thousands of hours into the game, i had my fun but anet is pretty trash. the game deserves to die at this point. the game peaked with heart of thorns and raids but it was all downhill after that. i never played end of dragons and the new expansion but seeing how they were rushed out so quickly it's easy to assume they both flopped hard.
I loved GW1 so much and GW2 just felt wrong at launch. I loved that GW1 has fully clearable region instances. I loved collecting abilities from enemies and how the game was more about gear and map completion than levels.
GW2 is THE tranny game. Gw1 is home. I pity all those wowtroons never getting the oportunity to try it during it's peak. It has the best events of any online game. Best pvp and build veriety. It's just an amazing game and the music is done buy a guy name JEREMY SOUL. He's the dude that made the morrowing soundtrack too. (The company fucked him for life due to false rape allegations by an ugly tranny) GW2 trannies deserve the rope.
The fact that I sunk thousands of hours and several years into the game and didn't even know they released an expansion shows how terrible their marketing team is. I quit after End of Dragons but I haven't had a single youtube video pop up or ad or email or anything in the year since, it's insane.
>there are dervish enemies in path of fire >they even have a few skills and animations >they never made them a profession in GW2 >same with paragons
Why?
You'd only need to pay 50 for the main expansions to get the Elite specs. But honestly Anet is so fucking retarded for charging for living world seasons still. Everytime I try and get someone into GW2 it always gets to the point where they ask what they need to buy and I have to explain to them that the entire game costs $125 if you want to experience everything and immediately they become disinterested. People would be willing to pay $50-60, but asking more than that just drives a lot of potential or returning players away. $125 is laughable when you're still going to rape them with convenience microtransactions.
I did see that you could buy the dragon expansion package (the one I cared about, I wanted to play bow guardian) for cheaper but I saw in the comments on steam that you'd have to pay for it again if you wanted the living world expansion because the price of the full package doesn't go down on steam if you own some of the expansions and they don't sell the living world separately. So yeah I quit
I don't know about steam stuff, honestly for these MMO's that got relaunched to steam I'd usually avoid using the steam version because they always seem to have weird payment issues or you miss out on sales and deals. The Living Worlds are for what it's worth, able to be purchases with gems in the in-game shop meaning that it is possible to convert gold to gems and buy them, but for a new player that would take too much time, even for a person playing for a few years that would take too much time because your gold is probably better spent on crafting legendaries and filling out your armory.
No, it doesn't. No game deserves what would be inflicted upon it in a "remaster" by the modern dev teams. It is perfectly playable and functional and supports higher resolutions and modern systems.
>horizontal progression so your gear doesn't become useless every time there's a new update >but they barely ever add any new proper endgame content, just pointless collection grinds and terrible story
GW2 feels like so much squandered potential. I love the idea of an MMO you can just hop on whenever you feel like it and do raids and shit with friends without having to treat the game like a second job like other MMOs, but the vast majority of content in the game is menial grind shit that only appeals to people who like to treat games like a second job anyway. There's no incentive to play the game unless you want to do chores to fill out a percentage bar of some collection that's the first out of 20 steps to make some legendary you don't even have any use for.
>Muh endgame
What they should've done is make Eternal Battleground a part of the world map and let guilds control zones there for resources and shit, basically the lowsec from EVE, and let guilds fight for them
probably weren't enough bigots to beat up

They walk around LA (main hub area) just shouting dialoge about how they love being a tranny. You don't even need to seek them out they just walk past you say fag shit for no reason
this, the unfortunate reality is that the bad story in the game is just fucking boring
My ability to discern how shit a game is gonna be by how many "Punch a bigot" and "Be gay do crime" characters there are is quite refined.
Because if they put shit like that in the game, there's a good chance they're not going to deliver on any other aspects of the game I enjoy.

I can't remember where I read it, but apparently far more of the original GW1 team and original GW2 concepts were used for early human and norn areas, in addition to GW1 establishing a "feel" for humans and EotN for norns giving a good flow for design as they knew what they were doing already.
wvw is or was the only fun thing in the game really
i loved the big zerg fights with 50v50
this was 9 years ago, every server had these communities with ventrillo/teamspeak servers and weekly matchups were between 3 servers
most people join and follow a voice commander and siege big castles and collect loot bags
good times
>everyone isn't stacked into one blob with ranged weapons
thanks for depressing me
it was like that sometimes
there was the melee meta first and then pirate ship arrived after big stability (cc immunity) nerfs and range buffs
Underrated
Only Guild Wars fans would get it.
S, good riddance
SPBP
I still play Guild Wars regularly. Game is almost dead but you can usually get a group for zaishen missions.
I finally got GWAMM a few days ago bros
Based congrats Anon!
They locked my account for security reasons and I don't have any keys anymore. Feels bad.
Me too.
Touch Ranger is such a based build. No build has cause more rage than this. Its even funnier that most of those players didn't realize that walking away from Touch Ranger is their biggest weakness.
This is a canon event for Ranger players.
I don't even have a pve ranger, the guy mistook me for someone else. This was my congratulations for gwamm.
Made me laugh and reminded me of better times.
qrd since I seem to be the only one that doesn't know what this is from?
Nvm, I thought it was a meme
>no playable charr
Irrelevant trash.
Kys furhomosexual.
GW is going to outlive your shitty homosexual game and all the rainbowhair troons and furfags like you will -ACK themselves when that happens. The thought warms my heart.

Mental illness.
>GW1
What about factions?
I liked factions
What was the point? Magic tower and weird demon realm you visit once?
>Try to sell scuffed living world patch as expansion
>right after dragonsflop as well
>it flops
Nobody. LITERALLY NOBODY could have seen this coming.
You mean end of dragons?
Yeah. never bought it and only remembered it had something to do with dragons so got it mixed up.
tbqh the "expansion" was so mid it probably made Dragonflight (I actually had to google it) to look good in comparison.
Were there any good jumping puzzles?
Anet killed Jumping Puzzles years ago when the guy that liked making them left. Just like dugeons
Oh, that's said to hear. But I guess I can't complain since I wasn't there to support them more.
They just kept stripping staff after launch. When I dropped the game they were pretty much just temps making a skeleton crew of a skeleton.
There's no such thing as a good jumping puzzle
The only games that have "jumping puzzles" are the ones with terrible platforming mechanics, with the goal being to learn how to exploit the massive flaws within said mechanics much like a bad game from the 80s and 90s
The ones in GW2 were fun IMO
I had a buddie with who we only did jumping puzzles. he found the rest of the game boring.
Yeah jumping puzzles are weird. It'd be like a point and click game having a shooting puzzle.
>There's no such thing as a good jumping puzzle
t. spastic
There's one in the hub city that is alright. It's a multiplayer race that's kinda like a Mario Party minigame. Sadly it's the only one...
Griefing people in the EBG jumping puzzle (when people actually went there) was fun.
> F to honor Eir
She was too sexy and straight so she had to go.
But she was a coalbruner! That should count, r-right?
Thanks for reminding me that Anet somehow forced black Norn to exist when their entire race was originally white.
Wait, there were no norngers in GW1?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
No they were an all white race with lore behind it.
There's been some migration since GW1, chud. Get over it!
But the lore also says the races cannot interbreed...
It's exactly why I choose a black character as a Norn,
They hate how popular she is. so they made her had a one night stand with a black guy and gave birth to one of the most retarded character in GW2. That how spiteful those writers are.
>no new specs
into the trash it went
>expansion
it's literally just a content patch or a living world being sold as a expansion
The only worry is that if gw2 dies, NCSoft may kill GW1 servers along with it.
the whole game is fucking retard
it's dead Jim quit ramming assr
There was an expansion? I thought this game died years ago.
just because you stop paying attention to something doesn't mean it stops existing
That's exactly what it means.
>slopsism
I laughed
I pay attention to all games. I receive trailers. I browse gaming news. This is the first time I hear about a GW2 expansion or that the game was still even remotely active.
Granted, I have been on a month long pornographic game binge so I did miss some news here and there.
honestly I'm not gonna blame you because I only learned of this expansion as well like a month before its release
Anet's biggest weakness is they have no concept of effective advertising.
actually their biggest weakness is constant shitty patches and terrible terrible writing
ACTUALLY, their biggest weakness is that there's basically no talent left. All the important people left, what's left is women and "women".
I don't get how the reviewers can all praise the story in this game when even at the best of times its still below the quality of an ironic runescape quest. I have to assume all of them have been brain rotted by anime or something worse
GW2's story is extremely pozzed and ticks every diversity checkbox for game journos to coom over.
And it did it all a decade ago, almost a pioneer!
>I don't get how the reviewers can all praise the story
It has representation and beating up bigots.
i have watched over 500 anime and gw2 writing is infinitely worse than any anime which is a shame because WvW is fun but there's nothing else to enjoy in the game (and wvw wasnt enjoyable in a while so i stopped playing that as well)
It really is awful. There are specks of good writing here and there but they are drowned out by all of the slop that surrounds it or they have a cool buildup and then completely shit the bed when it comes to executing. How anyone says its good when its just a series of disappointing wet farts is baffling to me.
Palawa Joko was their peak but they couldn't resist shitting all over the character in the end.
>Palawa Joko was their peak
Not him but it wasn't. You're force with that retard Braham the entire time.
I mostly meant the last bits including his speech to you which was actually interesting until they had their lolxd aurene moment.
>Who will save the world...from you?
Post the worst examples. I need a laff.
Bonus points for wokeness.
Dragonstorm, seen here
is a great example of one of these moments.
I honestly think it's intentional, especially when they deal with GW1 callbacks and lore. They hate it and the people that loved it.
There was no way they were writing a satisfying conclusion to the dragon conflict but hot damn that is still immensely retarded.
All we wanted was Primordus to have badass moments and be given some respect since a lot of us were waiting forever to finally see him.
That's not even the conclusion. It somehow gets even worse in End of Dragons. It's honestly a stunning achievement in shitty writing.
How can it get worse than that
Oh boy, here we go.
Is Joon a lesbian aswell?
I knew they could never resolve the dragon thing is a satisfying way but holy fuck.
No, Joon actually has a husband and a daughter. It genuinely surprised me too. I guess they missed a box when they were going down the checklist.
>Soo-Won (who looks like a basic bitch eastern noodle dragon, way smaller than the other dragons). It turns out she was the mother of all the other dragons and the original creator of Tyria.
I did get a weird vibe off of Jormag's mind controlled charr but I couldn't put my finger on what it was.
>mind controlled Charr were a purposeful allegory for Trump supporters
do you have any evidence of this being the case or are you just having a schizophrenic self-victimization moment
?t=1213
>Tom Abernathy is an award-winning narrative director, narrative designer, & writer on games including Guild Wars 2, The Division, League of Legends, Halo: Reach, The Saboteur, and Destroy All Humans!
>In this chat, we discuss the intricacies of game narrative, Tom's experiences in the industry, the criticality of diversity, Guild Wars 2, and even a little baseball.
Straight from the horse's mouth.
>amazing allegory about white nationalism and... you know all of the stuff that was going on outside during the trump administration
Woah! How powerful and original! That's never been done before in media. Midwit redditors taking over the gaming industry is the worst
I liked how if you fail the Drakkar fight, all the players in the area get marked hostile and you can attack each other.
>Zhaitan's fight is lame
>Mordremoth has a cool fight with his plant-snake physical form, but you actually kill him by invading his mind and doing a kinda lame mindscape fight
>Kralkatorrik has a really cool, cinematic fight where you bait him into a cave and fly around him blasting weak points and helping your allies. Of course this isn't how you actually beat him. That would've been too cool and satisfying. Instead you invade his mind (along with Aurene) and do another lame mindscape fight
>Jormag and Primordus kill each other in a super contrived, super anticlimactic fight that the other guy talked about
>Suu-Won gets a fairly cinematic fight where you fight her. Periodically Dragonvoid™ versions of the dead dragons show up and it's kinda cool. Then she gets one last moment of clarity before she dies peacefully. Truly touching, I crieded erry tiem.
>Suu-Won gets a fairly cinematic fight where you fight her
a fairly cinematic fight where you actually physically fight her*
Haven't fought any past Mordremoth, but that's criminal what they did to Jormag/Primordus.
>Braham's plan (expectedly) fails
>Primordus fucks off somewhere else in Tyria
>Epic fight with Jormag ensues
>Next expac is about tracking down the pissed off Primordus against hordes of destroyers
Obviously I'm missing a shit ton of details/context, but would something like not have been better received than having them kill each other without Primordus even having a chance?
The thing I hate most about the Soo-Won fight is the ceaseless (bad) dialogue. I wish the devs would realize that the characters don't need to be talking 100% of the time.
>Steve
That seems familiar. Mordremoth was a full on surprise though, right? I'm reading on the wiki that "more learned" individuals knew of its existence, but the player didn't know until HoT or maybe the Living World Seasons preceding it?
There were a lot of suggestions towards Mordremoth's existence if you dug around. As I recall, even his name was revealed if you looked at the attack names of some boss in the Crucible of Eternity dungeon that was supposed to be an experimental amalgamation of dragon minions. But yes, he wasn't directly known in the base game.
As stupid as this is, this discussion has made me want to try GW1/2 again from the beginning. I'm such a sucker for the lore of these games. Even if I know it'll get butchered in the end and might leave me feeling like my time was wasted.
just don't play 2 and you die a happy man anon. 1 is one of the best games ever made especially when it was still popular. Its still great but you might find it lonely if you don't have anybody to play with
I'll probably play through the first game and actually take the time to do side quests and read stuff, which is something I never did when I was younger.
>I pay attention to all games. I receive trailers. I browse gaming news.
So you're a homosexual.
>There was an expansion?
Not really instead they’re just selling tiny updates now, the latest “expansion” only had two zones, no new mounts and no new specs. They are giving each class a new weapon but to pad out the expansion they’re holding that hostage until the end as they have nothing else.
everyone post your fav gw1 skill icon
I honestly want Healing Light to be good.
one and only
Good, can we go back to GW1 now
dangerously based
only problem gw1 had is they stopped working on it
I miss it every day unironically.
I know it still exists and is playable but to those of us that were there during the prime of the game going back now is just a depression tour of what used to be.
it six you gioz don't get joke
loving that source op
fuck. i'm 30 and wish i was 13 again booting up faction battles
i hate life
factions was the best expansion
I wish I could go back...
No idea why they went and did another Factions to Nightfall expansion release cycle.
Even shorter this time. What the fuck are they thinking. That hurt GW1 so much when they did that.
They can make smaller expansions, but the quality needs to be up the par with the full expansion... not this shit.
so what? they just made living world release and made you pay for it?
Very true, story felt weak as fuck, especially after going through everything to it. It really just feels like a crappy living world season. At the very least weapon mastery is fun but it's not really enough
I actually think GW3 is closer than people think. It feels just like it did when they killed GW1 in favor of 2.
Too heavy, too light, too black or too white, too wrong or too right
Today or tonight, cumbersome
Too rich or too poor, she's wanting me less and I'm wanting her more
The bitter taste is cumbersome
No, yeah, no-no, no
No-no, no, yeah
at least post the report, retard
what even was the new expansions about. all I saw about it was that it was related to the wizard's tower. it looked half-assed. even more than the previous ones. they couldn't even get me to buy the Cantha expansion because the SJW garbage already made me quit the game by that point.
GW2 on the way out, time for the KING to come back
If they disabled PVP completely I probably would have given it more of a chance. It was such an immediate turn-off that I dropped it right away.
I only know this though the mechanic girl that Ganker could not stop masturbating too that entire year
All of the Wildstar females were masturbated to.
Even the robot lady. Trust me, I lost weight and gained muscle mass in my right arm when those trailers for the game coomed out.
End of Dragons and what they did to Cantha made me quit the game. What an insult to Factions it almost felt intentional.
>Sell a patch as a mini expansion
>Literally no new subclasses or shake-ups
>First leg after your multi-decade-long dragon saga is just vague incoherent mumbling about 'muh demons'
Who could have predicted this result?
Imagine hyping dragons for 16 years and finishing it with a wet fart then going for muh demons instead of going back to the Underworld or Fissure of Woe
post the report and also FF14 WON.
Guild Wars 2 is the Destiny 2 of mmos
It's funny because the meltdowns people are having over the recent Bungie firings already happened to ArenaNet, which is why they're now selling living world patches as real expansions
>they're now selling living world patches as real expansions
Yet another thing Blizz copied from Anet kek
Anon those women worked their asses off to bring you that content, they deserve their fair pay!
the lead writer for gw2 now is a foot fetishist and it's fucking annoying how many characters have bare feet now
NOOOOOOOOOOOO BUT SHILLS IN WOW AND XIV THREADS TOLD ME GW2 WON AND IS THE BEST GAME RIGHT NOW
Reminder that >>>/vm/ has an active Guild Wars thread + guild with people around if you want to play sometime or just want an invite. We're not as active as we used to be (ran through the three campaigns weekly until overall loss of interest) but four of us just ran HM UW for Halloween a couple weeks ago.
I did all of Fissure of Woe with a group of anons some years ago. It was based
>Video Games/Multiplayer
man, when the fuck did they add so many vidya sub-boards
because Ganker is not for videogames, it's just disguised /b/, it even has not so subtle porn threads for coomers and tranny advertisement spam
I remember first finding that thread about a year ago. The fact it's still going all this time later is great
>Jimothy Staniels in guild
hell yeah brother glad youre alive too
is there a guild wars 2 community on vm that isn't completely insane like the vg one was
I played GW2 and burnt out in the 'amazing levelling' to the point I started buying wizard vault level skips
Absolutely soulless world full of grindy shit. It sucks
I got all of my leveling skips in WvW, way more fun leveling through just zerging people all day.
I logged in a month ago to see PvP and spectated a match in and it was literally just entire bot teams fighting each other... it made me sad.
I logged in during the summer and outside the few big cities like Lion's Arch everything is empty, so I hope you like mercenaries.
What third world shithole still had dial up in 2005?
we had it where i lived
the internet there is still like 15megabit
in Florida btw
>Guild wars 1
>MMO
>le istances so le not le mmo le le le XD XD
kys wow homosexual, nobody cares about empty maps
oh come on anon, it's not a massively multiplayer game in literally any sense, it's an rpg with multiplayer elements which a large portion of people don't ever even interact with
i'm not even sure why that could ever even offend you, mmo's are generally trash and not worth being associated with
>oh come on anon
no you bitch, I've had this argument with naggers since 2005 and I'm tired, it has millions of players and cities boomed with life, it's an mmo just like destiny 2 is an mmo
fuck. off.
>destiny 2
>mmo
Not even close
>developer intentionally doesn't advertise and label game as an MMO
>Ignorant retards online call it an MMO and get upset if you correct them
retard
>BB-B-BUT THEY CALLED IT ONLINE ROLE PLAYING :~~*~~*((
cope tranny nobody cares
GOTTEM 2016+ newfag bot
The developers cared.
The aesthetic feels like an Asian MMO. I know NCSoft has always been the publisher, but GW1 still felt like a fully Western game. Even in Factions.
>I had fun with GW2
no
I don't know why I laughed.
>Anet paid people to create playable tengu and then scrapped it
I'll never not be mad.
Their starting city was almost finished, too. What a fucking joke. At least we got the Lake Doric area they first scrapped before release
>look what they did to my boy
What the fuck. Gw2 is so shit
>Left
SOUL
>Right
Ghostbusters 2016
I didn't even know there was a new expansion
Not that I've ever played GW2
F. i wanted to like the game and i wanted it to do well, but every time i tried to get into it i just couldn't.
The tragedy of GW2 is how Anet's server setup and patching system is owned by NCSoft so other devs can't just copy it.
I bought GW1 when I saw it on sale back in like 2019. One of these days I will get around to playing it.
play it, it's good. even by yourself it's a solid team-based RPG.
They still have some direct damage abilities too though.
>reactive class
>spam ESurge, Ineptitude, or Panic
lol
The real mesmer elite is cry of frustration.
>Spams panic on melee, Ineptitude on casters, or esurge on oom targets
i miss shadow form farming
i miss 50/50 monk
i miss trap ranger through the UW
i miss 2v1ing koreans in halls and still losing
i still have fun on gw2
eternaly mad about elementalist treatment tho
This was the first Halloween since I started playing Guild Wars Prophecies that I skipped a Guild Wars event. Even if I haven't played all year, I come back to Guild Wars for Halloween, I just didn't this year.
I've noticed that the more GW2's focus has shifted away from femcharr, the worse it's gotten.
Just a coincidence I suppose.
Femcharr are for closeted homo furries anyway. Don't care if it has a vagina, you are not straight if you crank it to that Johny Bravo frame.
Untrue
Simply need big fluffy wife
Your wife's shoulder to hip ratio is broader than your own.
Her teeth are longer than my whole hand, too
Teeth are fine. Looking like a man ain't.
Femcharr have no womanly shape. No tits. No curves.
Speaking of Charr why does no one complain about what they did to Ascalon in-universe or out?
I want to fucking fight.
>what the fuck more do you want them to do? suck you off?
How about not act like pricks regarding what they did?
The Charr were an invasive race bent on complete conquest of Tyria and beyond. GW2's retcons are disgusting. They were not peaceful dindus that just wanted to live in Ascalon.
>And the land was the charrs land first
Ascalon was Forgotten lands first. Charrs invaded from the North and genocided them until they fled to the Crystal Desert.
For the same reason kurdicks and suxons are mwah mwah with each other now.
Did you even play gw1?
Yes. I played a lot of Alliance Battles.
You know, kurdicks vs suxons.
okay well if you play the story of the game, you'll find out that the hero actually unified them both so that they could do more than piss in each others cereal for a thousand years.
They gave the hero the necessary stuff to fight Shiro.
Fast forward they're now bffs.
then you should know most of that was the most garbage attempt at rivalry that only a corporate retard could come up with
there was never any actual good fun rivalry going on
>only a corporate retard could come up with
Too bad, that's what it was.
I miss Fort Aspenwood.
That's all fine and good but from a story and gameplay standpoint, them being eternal cereal pissers was much more interesting.
It should've been
>250 years later
>The original reason why the Luxons and Kurzicks were unified at all has been lost after the devastation wrought by the dragons
>Now that the dragons are gone, they're back to pissing in eachother's cereals, only having pieces of their history that refer to their wars and grudges
>I miss Fort Aspenwood.
Lucky you, fort asswood is still played during weekends on american evenings.
Wait
Are you being serious
I imagine JQ and alliance battles are still going too. There's like one super alliance left that organizes all sorts of events.
JQ is filled with bots so it is playable but you won't be playing with humans. Ironically you can play JQ more often than AB or FA thanks to bots.
ABs are played on either Fridays or Sundays, I forget.
The alliance/guild is [LGiT], and their leader has a Youtube channel
https://www.youtube.com/@GWReborn/videos
believe it
I will check in the evening on Friday/Saturday nights, thank you anon.
if you wait around a bit at the proper times yeah
or if its a double faction event
Tried to get into guild wars 2
but it's just so overwhelming
I don't even have a mount yet.
take one thing at a time, enjoy the exploration part at your own speed, gw2 is chill
you can get raptor at level 1 if you go to lions ark with portals
You're not supposed to have a mount until you start the second expansion. Everything before that expansion was designed to be traversed on foot, + with a glider if it's the first expansion.
minimum viable product? more like minimum viable profit
people that played gw1 hate gw2
and people that dont know gw1 love gw2
I'm the latter but Im having so much joy Im glad I'm not bitter and jaded about it
BG3 just killed any momentum GW2 had. It's that simple and tragic.
If Arenanet knows what's good for them, they'll hire a competent writing team, and get to working on a true GW1 sequel.
The whole company is 100% Californian pozzed. They actually think their writing is good and all the shoehorned diversity is wanted.
That's fine, they should just hire the pozzed writers that can actually write.
>easiest fix to thief is that it deals more damage with more initiative, and a damage reduction at 0
>told this to anet on the forums multiple times
>they never did it
:/
I made a forum thread about increasing the difficult of old world bosses to not make them irrelevant content, and I was met with droves of Anet retards telling me
>That content is supposed to be easy because it's for low level players
Long gone are the days of GW1 where the balancing team were made of a few actual hardcore players and balance changes were a big deal.
the balancing team are literally pvp autists
the actual problem is the rest of the game doesn't give a fuck about pvp
Also in GW1 PvE mobs had actual party comps and used 99% the same skills as players so it helped prepare for PvP if people stepped into it. God damn it was a masterpiece.
I like how the dev were spiteful enough to just add Metabuild into later mobs. And sometime, they buff elite for the sole purpose of fucking players over when they fight against it.
>tfw the fucking mobs read the wiki
every time i hear about this game, I get the words "Lost Generation" stuck in my head
WHERE!!!!!!
GW1 is still up and running on official servers, it's one of the few games that has officially been preserved well
meds
i can't take them anymore because of fucking drug runners putting FENTANYL in my goddamn happy pills.
oh.
They are absolutely struggling to not look dated at this point. The engine needs fixing.
neither of these look good
they should have just embraced the retconning and made a good region for once
can you even view either of these ingame?
yeah
Here come the femcharr avatarfags posting about their epic game that's pve scene is 10 people and Chinese selling raids.
I was excited for GW2 in 2012 and almost bought it, but went for MoP instead because my friend was playing it. and I kinda regretted it ever since.
is it still worth getting into now? I see that everyone in this thread prefers GW1, but is GW2 still fun for leveling or anything?
I'd say the base game is still fun and worth exploring. And you can do that for free I believe.
anon, if you think wow is bad, gw2 manages to be worse, in all aspects
the story is awful, the updates inconsistent, the game is so woke it calls blizz writing conservative nazi shit
the gameplay is essentially grinding open world shit for loot
and there is no hardcore raids, the players want to gaslight you in believing fractals are somehow equivalent to mythic
fractals are essentially 3,4 min dungeons glued together for a "floor" with a debuff that you completely negates by sinking gold in your gear for agony resistance
fractals will always be more fun than any of the shit wow has, just an objective fact
yes because doing something piss easy every day for years means fun
i bet you scream like a girl when they release a new fractal, ohh boy, another 3 min dungeon for a whole year, we eating good gaywars 2 sisters
Story is shit, every expansion has been shit. Leveling is okay but still jank after a decade lmao. The one thing that's actually been fun is playing the economy and crafting legendary weapons. WvW is also cool in phases.
I'm genuinely surprised they even made expansions for this game, considering how badly the player retention was for the base game.
Post Asuras, homosexuals.
Fuck off, bot.
i enjoy the open world and fractals
pof and lws4 is the best content in the game
>dead troon game just got deader
ok?
For the oldfag players that haven't played in many years: I recommend going back for the Wayfarer's Reverie event some day. It takes you back on quests throughout a lot of old vistas in the game. Did it with my good friend that used to play with me all the time. Would recommend.
https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Wayfarer%27s_Reverie
um sweaty that's actually drakkar not jormag 🙂
Fugg
I at least got this one right, ya?
das rite
i think
Character assassinated my boy
2male2straight for GW2
>balthazar is murdering us for no reason help us gods
>naggermir shows up and tells "no, get rekt, we leaving bye"
>balthazar killing crystal boy
>you fight him
>retarded aurene engulfs the power OF A FUCKING GOD
>later she eats palawa because fuck your legacy characters
>MAKE HER A CHIK, MAKE HER GAY, MAKE HER LAME
Aurene's one whole role is being a magic catalyst why isn't she allowed to do that?
Eating joko was based tbh
The most important question, however. Would you your daughter dragon?
I was gonna say something akin to "you're asking the one that made that screenshot" except I can't retrace this one but I'd unload daily in her if I could
a new generation of dragons with aurene...
wait i shouldn't be giving them ideas they'll actually do it
Only with female pcs. Male PCs get to watch.
male are rapist demons after all, they're going to make the reproduction happen through spores/osmosis or something
>something something exposure commander through magic
>haha wow I'm suddenly eggnant
I stopped playing when they revealed what israelites they were with the pricing of that first expansion. Seems like I got out before the going got really bad.
they assassinated the gods
Balthazar was dug up and paraded around in a dress
>every non Balthazar god fucks off because???
>because Grenth is gone the player character can literally walk out of the afterlife after dying and be fine
>no one else ever does this because?????
The writing in the game is so fucking bad it loops back around to being hilarious.
>your "lesbian" friend thought its a good idea to hang out with Balt
>you tell her its a bad idea
>LOL IM A STRONG AND INDEPENDENT WAHAM
>fucked up and ask you to help her
>while you do all the work to prepare for the fight againt Balt, the lesbian bitch and bring lesbian drama in the background
>got hit by Balt in the fight
>Your retarded PC decided BALT HURT FRIEND BALT BAD FOREVER
For me its the queen.
>Be the Queen of Kryta
>The incompetence of you and your simp directly lead to a large chunk of the continent being glassed.
>Do basically nothing as the survivors of said glassing are constantly beset upon by monsters for years
>The Charr decide to get in on the action and also start fucking up the survivors
>Not only do you not help them against the Charr, but you deem the people trying to defend their homes as criminals.
>Your incompetence is so great that the lawfully elected representatives of your citizens are considering removing you from power
>Before they can do anything you DISSOLVE THE ELECTED BRANCH OF THE GOVERNMENT immediately starting a civil war.
>Somehow the writers still think you're a just and moral person.
The incompetence of that team is staggering.
We should never have stopped Abbadon.
>had to side with an obvious evil lich
>dont do anything to him during or after abbaddon
>everyone suffers as a result
Befriending the centaur didn't do anything as they all died from that event. Its annoying even back then
>the simp
Fucking Logan dude
>Get Snaff killed
>Get Glint killed
>Get thousands of people across Ascalon and Elona killed
>Get an orphanage or hospital killed
>Get a flagship killed
>Get a boat full of Krytans killed
>Ruin a Charr peace conference for no reason
>Despite being more of a fuckup than the joke character voiced by Yuri Lowenthall, is apparently a "Hero" to be respected.
>because Grenth is gone the player character can literally walk out of the afterlife after dying and be fine
Ahhhh I'm roominiscinggg about when the game was still fresh and fun
before heros ruined it when every outpost had multiple instances of players forming parties for missions and quests
That was a gw2 ss. You're right about gw1 though. Pre-heroes when most people were forming actual groups and mission outposts were well-populated was peak
>LF HEALER!
>LF HEALER!
>LF HEALER!
>that entire monk strike
I don't miss it.
It was definitely annoying to wait, but it was a lot more fun grouping with mostly real people. You could often swing it with the healer henchman too if your group wasn't terrible.
Alesia always kill herself for being retarded and they only gotten good many years later... when Hero was a thing.
I for once hope that all anet staff gets fired and the studio shut
all good devs left already, there is nothing of value to lose there, and they still have the balls to act like Colin sohandsome being back is a good sign when this fucker was the single responsible for all the clownfiesta that was season 1 , scarlet and zaithan press E to win fight
>singlehandly destroy any credible story or lore the game has, even after she got fired
All this done to me is burn every plant I see
Is this the bitch that got her hands on the Sylvari and turned them into her cringe OC?
Yes
I remember the vague original ideas for them sounded cool and actually being hyped from the teaser in GW1 then they were turned into what they are now.
Now that I think about it, is there any actual prominent gay couple like the lesbians? There's Rytlock and Logan's fujobaiting at best, and some subtle references at worst.
It really does tell you something doesn't it, that they won't explore that dynamic but they'll explore lesbianism uwu lovey dovey emotional drama romance.
They were her OCs from the beginning.
Its a shame that the high price tag and bots ruin it for any new comers.
>GW1 trannies blindly hate GW2 despite never playing it
take off your nostalgia glasses you stupid nagger boomer
Nice digits but ur rong
Pentuplets of truth win the argument.
GW2 is now based.
>Was hyped for GW2 since its first mention in 2007
>Took a train to London to play it at an event in 2011
>Had to wait in line for hours to play for 15 mins
>Pre-purchased the game
>Managed to get into a stress test despite not being invited but somehow it worked because I had the client already downloaded
>Played every beta
>Was there on day 1 of early access release
Yeah, I think I played it.
Extremely based
Ah, yes, a dozen of people zerging an enemy.
The epitome of Guild Wars.
I'm just saying I was also hyped as fuck for it, played all the betas and stress tests, and was still disappointed by the final product. Just like that other guy.
I know, I was too. I played the open beta and I couldn't believe how it was nothing like Guild Wars, it was just another generic mmo.
I play through the beta and I honestly do not mind if it tries not to be GW1. And then they start taking a dump on the game with sylvari, Trahearne, and fucking Living World.
Fuck you Spencer
Unironically enjoyed the Battle Royale/Hunger games event they made to end one of the betas, literally ahead of it's time.
XIVsisters, it's over...
>no mention of XIV in the entire thread
>some mindbroken retard has to seethe about it
I will never understand this
wasted
GW2 has had a hate club since beta days and those people STILL haven't let go. It's so fucking weird.
To be fair, the game continues to exist and somehow keep getting worse
yeah because it sucks. I played that shit at gamescom when it was shown off and it sucked dick back then already. Also
>hur dur read this book to undestand what happened inbetween
they killed the franchise
>hur dur read this book to undestand what happened inbetween
It's not like you need to know more than the basics.
>Dragons are fucking shit up
>The gods are non-communicado
>Ascalon ghost-nuked itself
>Kryta got rid of the White Mantle and has a queen
>Lion's Arch got flooded and is now pirate town
>Based Joko rules Elona with an iron, but fair fist
>Cantha is isolated
>Norn moved further south because dragons
>Dwarves are all dead
>Asura built more shit on the surface
>Charr are the same but with no gods and more guns
>That tree that Ventari was tending became big and popped out a bunch of effeminate vege-elves
>The Tengu live in a big walled off city (which the writers probably forgot about)
Digits wasted on lies, have a nice day.
But GW1 players did play GW2, along with a ton of other people, who then all quit weeks after launch because the game was garbage and the developers had to promptly back pedal on some of their retarded designs like not having dedicated healers.
Is it worth coming back to? I got kicked out of my guild i was in
>30
>manlet
>bald
>never worked
>khhv
>poorfag
Installed GW2 a little bit ago to scratch the MMO itch I get every so often. How much content am I in for as a total f2p player
If you just play the first campaign, a lot.
GW2 actually has a lot of content.
Sounds good enough for me. I should be good on mmos for a bit by time I finish whatever it has to offer if its a lot.
You just described MMOs, anon.
>Anything worth shit
>WoW
Disregard the shit this anon says.
eternally seething
Just mad that you're dying game had a flop expansion and everyone is leaving to WoW again.
Have fun playing buggy fractals and enjoy the wvw beta, it'll be out in 2 more weeks.
Bro every MMO is dying a slow death, some slower than others. The genre is cooked and it's too expensive to actually innovate for companies.
bro you have a hateboner i havent seen the low quality shit you speak off on gw2
>GW2 actually has a lot of content.
Lol no. Especially for a F2Per
>lol dungeon dead
>open world quest is shit
>heart is just normal questing without running to the quest giver
>lol botted pvp
>can't even WvW early on, or care since you will get one shooted
>you will walk slow as fuck while people with expansion would ride their mount and jump over you
>instant kick if you try to Fractal
>all the "side games" has no rewards
>open world boss awards are bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag full of trash
>maybe ONE ecto from a salvage
>limited fashion, skill, and gearing
>Some of the worst story telling in mmo
>some of the WORST characters in mmo
You're full of shit. The new player experience is still dogshit and awful, how'd that steam release go for you?
bruh, everyone knows about SotO being a glorified living world pack
I saw the shitfest that is Nonbinary Ice Dragon and sleepy fire dragon killing each other while Gayham got away with causing a civil war and a possible death of HUNDREDS of people because of his retardness. Fuck you and fuck Gayham.
We know it hasn't gotten better because when the fuck has anything gotten better in the last six years
Anet refuses to update the new player experience.
Playable Tengu will save the game.
They will never be playable.
I lost it on a fucking "Wurm Siege" LMAO WHAT THE FUCK
And the Chad icon and following without description
I don't feel like playing again after they deleted Fervent Force. Now that weapons are divorced from specs, how is hammer soulbeast?
Any GW1 vets remember when the Monks went on strike? That was pretty funny. I don't even remember why we did it.
>GW2 has some of the worst player retention
?
It's not an MMO that keeps players around constantly. A lot of coming and going, it's not good as a main MMO like more traditional ones such as FFXIV and WoW.
Oh I see. I keep seeing anons or some random keep parading GW 2 IS THE BEST MMO! like some shill.
Norn or Charr?
I can't believe they got rid of all the different cultures of Factions in End of Dragons to just replace it with Korean shit only. It's so depressing to go around Echovald Forest and you see all the Kurzick stuff in ruins and just replaced by generic Korean huts for the towns.
There's a lot of things I don't like about GW2, but what they did to Cantha is the one that gets under my skin the most. They took a flavorful setting and completely fucking demolished it in favor of chasing the stupid fucking kimchi trend. And fucking Joon is the Maryest of Sues they've written, which says a lot when you're talking about GW2.
pretty crazy how genius tech prodigies keep popping up in the story like holy fuck, how many of them do we need?
It's amazing that the new "expansion" has managed to go on for two episodes without Taimi telling us what to do. She's been in charge of the plot for so long that I feel lost and confused without her.
Korean culture is 'in' now because of korean TV shows and Kpop being big among the tumblr types.
Shame we'll never get faux-imperial Chinese kino.
NCSOFT WHY
I fucking wish I had the time for MMOs again.
>GW1 is great guise!!!!
>same game that cucks the main character and makes Kormir the big hero and a god
I already beat this game when it zergred out 10 years ago.
I'm sure they're going to shit all over Razah at some point with this demon world expansion, but hopefully they just forgot about him entirely
is that game still ran by fat women?
Well in this expansion there's already a "good" Mursaat still alive that's been fighting the evil bad guys for many years so can it get worse?
All this demon and wizard shit is weird and retarded. I'm just waiting for them to pull another Nightfall and reveal Eparch is the one who made Abaddon evil in the first place.
>inb4 he's somehow responsible for making the dragons evil too
i like the mount system in GW2.
Grothmar Valley was one of the best maps they ever created.
this shit died long ago
It's like the 3rd or 4th most played MMO
lolno
>Baldurs Gate 3
>BG3
>Path of Exile
what the FUCK is this chart trying to convey fucking lmao
Does even having an optional online coop mode count as being an MMO these days? Jesus fucking Christ
>unironically using this website
yeah I believe that baldurs gate 3 has 40mil players weekly
Damn what happened to Lost Ark? I never got to play it because it's banned in my country but I thought it looked fun.
not even close
I tend to just skip all dialogue since I don't really care about the story but every time I see Caithe I wanna fuck her plant butthole.
I liked the game for ERP with tall norn chicks
Very nice
>they made the main norn chick get BLACK'd
I don't like what the hero system did to GW1
I get that they did it because the population was declining
But it massively discourages the old way of seeking out other actual players to help with missions etc because of how OP they are compared to mercs
The fact that I sunk thousands of hours and several years into the game and didn't even know they released an expansion shows how terrible their marketing team is. I quit after End of Dragons but I haven't had a single youtube video pop up or ad or email or anything in the year since, it's insane.
It wouldn't have mattered. The more you knew about the 'expansion' the more you'd see the writing on the wall.
I quit right after finishing the end of dragons.
Why is the story so insultingly bad? AI could unironically wrote better stuff.
Dervishes are the coolest class. FFXIV reapers don't come even close.
yeah i was actually hoping the scythe job would be something more dignified in FFXIV similar to dervish but they went full chuuni bullshit
>there are dervish enemies in path of fire
>they even have a few skills and animations
>they never made them a profession in GW2
>same with paragons
Why?
This is such a monkey paw thing. If they turn off gw2 then theyll prolly turn off gw1 too.
>OP posts shit out of his ass
>everyone believes him
No one really cares either way. It's more just a pretext to shit on the game. Which it deserves.
I tried this recently but when people said I can't do dps without paying 125€ for all the expansions I quit
Original Lion's Arch was great. I guess there's an item in the game now that lets you revisit it?
What happened to all the retards saying this was going to kill xiv?
GW1 deserves a remaster but zoomies are too low IQ to play Teams Arena
No, it doesn't. No game deserves what would be inflicted upon it in a "remaster" by the modern dev teams. It is perfectly playable and functional and supports higher resolutions and modern systems.
I usually jack off to elementalists and necros and thought how cool it would be if the models had more resolution,
I miss mommy Ree so much bros
I only remember that cute artist that everyone spammed when GW2 was released.
>horizontal progression so your gear doesn't become useless every time there's a new update
>but they barely ever add any new proper endgame content, just pointless collection grinds and terrible story
