But anon, this IS the PS2 emulation scene.

If you want to talk about how an emulator is ruining something by existing let's talk about Project64 and RetroArch.

I'm not arguing PCSX2 is good, it isn't. But it also isn't ruining anything because no alternative exists yet.

When I was in high school PCSX2 was the only option. What happened?

        Anonymous

a "scene" requires multiple parties to compete and /or contribute in it
there is no parties other than PCSX2 itself
obviously PCSX2 is not good, but it can't ruin a literally non existent scene, or one in which it is the only party

nothing happened, PCSX2 is still the only option, OP is just a gay as usual

            >play!chads
PCSX2 might be shit, but at least the vast majority of the entire PS2 library is 100% playable on it with either no glitches or minor ones, meanwhile can barely play 1/3rd of that, and most of the playable games have multiple glitches or slowdowns
claiming Play! is a party in the PS2 emulation scene is like saying the 7 yo kid who can barely bounce a basketball is a competitor in the NBA

Yeah? Retroarch is literally just a front end for libretro cores. Are you still on your gay shit because the Frickstation developer compiled and released a libretro core and then got mad because oops the license I HAVE to use means people are allowed to use the codebase?
        Or worse
        MAME homosexualry?

QRD on project 64? Why is it ruining emulation?

        Anonymous

well all I know is it has some texture problems with DK64, but there might be more than that

        Anonymous

Project 64 is the reason Nintendo 64 emulation is so behind. For the longest time it was the only viable option, then the dev just walked away for a decade and hoarded his code.

This is exactly why you don't support closed source projects. The same thing happened to Dreamcast when Demul was abandoned.

Same with PS1. Until DuckStation PS1 emulation was fricking trash.

so is there a solution for the garbage misaligned minimap at all? or the game slowing down massively during the start of combat or saving?

        Anonymous

Not that guy but I just spent 4 hours of my life setting up P3FES in PCSX2 with the HD mod and cheats and it was the biggest pain in my ass of my life, but the game runs smooth as butter. PCSX2 has gotten so much better in the last couple years than it has ever been.

        Anonymous

Minimap no but that's a small issue for me. As for saving just use a save state- PCSX2 simulates the PS2 too accurately in its annoying clunkiness.

I have seen YT footage of the P3P remaster that they are currently selling on Steam and I dare say emulation of a 15 year old game is better.

Which versions of this are clean? Latest version I've used is 1.0.0 because I know some hacker who fricks with RATs joined the project around 2014. Did they ever leave or is PCSX2 still risky?

Wild Arms 3 needs specific configuration for some reason. They even made a special hack for this sole game.

Have you tried uping the internal resolution? GTA vice city was blurry as shit until I set that to 6x native.

After upgrading from 1.5 to 1.7 and applying the Wild Arms fix everything seems to look fine. I guess PCSX2 really does work

          see

It looks like the version they are about to put out is completely different from the current stable version. That might be promising.

Although, when I tried the new "nightly" version as they call it, which is what they are recommending, it crashed as soon as GTA vice city got out of the opening cutscene and into the looading/menu screen.

The old one has some bad slowdown with the same game, but at least it works. Took me a couple of hours of adjusting settings to minimize that to a more acceptable level. Couldn't get rid of it completely though.

New version immediately crashes vice city for some reason. I was super disappointed because that new version looks like it should be really good.
