Great list. I wouldn't necessarily play the PS2 versions of all these games, but if PS2 is your only option you can't go wrong with this list.
>Man, if only this site somehow had an extensive list of recommended PS2 games for EOPs like me
https://vsrecommendedgames.miraheze.org/wiki/PlayStation_2
>Oh wait, I'm not an EOP after all. I keep forgetting I totally know Japanese. Silly me.

>Anything good on the system (for example Fatal Frame)
Install MechaPwn and make your system a dev console so that you can play physical PS1 backups natively instead of using POPS (cause it's ass). I think SMB is faster than the disc drive so you're probably good on playing PS2 games that way, but you can't load PS1 games via network without popsloader.
Can't MechaPwn brick your system? POPStarter is underrated too, there's plenty of games that work perfectly especially with Hugopocked's recent fixes.
>there's plenty of games that work perfectly
lol
lmao even
being able to play through the game doesnt mean they work perfectly
>Can't MechaPwn brick your system?
Only if you do something stupid while installing it. Like installing the wrong model's firmware or something. It's as easy as running it and following the instructions onscreen.
>there's plenty of games that work perfectly especially with Hugopocked's recent fixes
Haven't heard about the fixes, but it's still irrelevant when burning gives 100% compatibility. Just cause a game runs doesn't mean everything's perfect. Since you're already using real hardware why not go that extra 10%?
>but it's still irrelevant when burning gives 100% compatibility
it's relevant cause I'd rather load games off a menu then and there than burn discs
>Just cause a game runs doesn't mean everything's perfect
I agree, but there are games that DO run perfectly
>there's plenty of games that work perfectly
Don't ever trust POPS unless you regularly backup your save file. The compatibility lists are full of fucking shit. I've had 2 different games delete my save file at certain spots late in the game. Resident Evil Director's Cut always deleted my save at a certain typewrite in the guard house.
>Resident Evil Director's Cut always deleted my save at a certain typewrite in the guard house
That's not an issue with POPStarter, that's an issue with JayJay's dog shit "DB" fork of OPL. Use the actual OPL: https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader
I recently 100%'d RE1 and 2 on POPStarter with zero issues.
I've been playing Steambot Chronicles, it's been very fun customizing a mech for combat and side quests, and has a ton of soul.
Tekken 5
Dark Cloud
TimeSplitters 2 and 3
Didn't even know they made a TimeSplitters 3
Shinobi and Nightshade
Drakan: The Ancients' Gates
Persona 3
Warship Gunner 2
Obtain high-quality $600 dance pad and appropriate pad-to-PS2 adapter, find light, high-traction slip-on shoes, purchase all Dance Dance Revolution games for PS2, set aside all other games (but do not discard them, for you will need them once your skill tops out or your knee cartilage starts to fail and you lose interest)
