I know several guys with ps5 but they exclusively play sports games and cod. I still haven't actually met someone irl who played tlou or tlou2. I'm convinced those "games" are a complete psyop.
This. My roommate only ever plays Golf, Fortnite, and CoD on his PS5. He has no interest in single-player narrative games he got the Dead Space remake but only played a couple hours before he dropped it lol

Because you're not saving money on a console, depending on how many games you intend to buy. This is a common misconception. The entry fee for console is lower, but you're not accounting for the Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo tax and the more expensive games compared to PC. All of that adds up quite fast. By the end of a generation, so around 7-8 years, you wouldn't have paid all that much more on PC if at all.

The piss5 is basically a better way to play most ps4 games, sometimes extremely better (eg: genshin). The software/OS is absolute dogshit though and a downgrade to the ps3/ps4 and virtually almost every single way, it's only "better" because muh better hardware. I'm honestly kinda done with sony so this is probably the last console I'll ever buy. I do not own a gaming pc, but my toaster is able to run lego racers.

Since i got mine in May, I've mostly been playing the games i was playing on my ps4, but now they dont run like dogshit (Chiv 2, DRG, Genshin, SF6). I beat ff16 a few months ago, and will be getting Spider-bros when it comes out. I didn't buy it for new games specifically, more for better performance on old games and the ability to get the best versions of new games if they ever come out. The near total absence of loading times itself has been a major welcome improvement, and a few games look a lot better than on last gen hardware, but good GOD do I fucking hate this controller.

its big, blocky, heavier because of all the hardware used inside for the rumble/haptic feedback shit (which is cool for the first hour, then annoying and you turn it off). But worst of all for me, a fighting game player who has been using DualShocks his whole fucking life with great success, is the GOD AWFUL FUCKING DPAD, the worst one i've ever had the misfortune of being stuck with. I thought it was just me, but other people have said the same shit, and when I went to play SF6 on a ps4 controller, i was literally 50% better automatically from having my goddamn inputs properly registered
admittedly, not much. However I do play some games now and then, my wife uses it mostly but even then she plays most Vidya on PC.
I mostly play multiplats, the reason why I chose a PS5 is that there are a handful of console exclusives that I care about and I don't care about xbox and nintendo exclusives.

i do own a gaming PC but it is old, from 2013, has a GTX 660 and athalon X2 but it is broken atm, I need a new case and fans and need to reboot the OS and clean the components.
I intend to do it this autumn.

I got my PS5 because my PS4 was on the way out and it didn't feel like there was much point in just replacing it with a slim.
I use my pc way more, things a paper weight. I thought it might be a nice AAA buffer because I was waiting for GPU prices to come down but I should have just invested the $400 into a 4090 as this console generation is a complete failure

and playing some ps4 games like MHW with faster loads without having to start over on PC

I bought one recently on a whim. I have a gaming pc but it's getting old. Since I already spent all my time working behind a pc it feels nicer to game on the couch on a tv in my off time. I also completely skipped last gen console gaming and wanted to catch up on some games. Played RE2, RDR2 Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3. Currently playing Witcher 3 and DES remake, will probably try sekiro/elden ring and ghost of tsushima next. I'm enjoying mine but for someone who already played all those games last gen I can see why you wouldn't bother with it. If it didn't have backwards compatibility with ps4 I wouldn't have bought mine.
