hello fellow redditor, I noticed you threw a slur in your response to make it seem like you're a ~le epic Ganker user~, please refrain making those commentaries in the future.
I see in Reddit posts of "I owned this product and is garbage because XYZ reasons!"
I mean, you should always take any kind of Reddit posts with a giant grain of salt anyway. Even the most well intentioned person might unknowingly know most products are good, but they are assholes writing provocative reviews for get upvotes.
they unironically think of the company as a friend and identify with it, so they will rush in to defend its honour because an attack on the company is an attack on them
Can't say I don't blame them for freaking out a bit though. With the way some companies like Apple and Microsoft operate, Valve could have easily done some fuckshit to the old models that essentially forces people to upgrade.
Its just like the switch people didnt suddenly throw away their switches because the oled switch came out, though im guessing some people were foolish enough to do that.
The burn in argument is so fucking retarted
>2023 >Asshats on Ganker love sperging out about how many thousands of dollars they spend on monitors and tvs and somehow aren't smart enoguh to realize they come with burn in protection
>BUT ALL THAT DOES IS-
Yes also look up pixel refresh
>MUH POWER CUT OFF
if you can afford all that shit you can afford a battery protected surge protector then, stop fishing for something to bitch about
That was an example vid, doesn't only have to be lg, the companies as a whole should start offering that as an option, unless somehow lg is the ONLY one who's doing it,
It’s also unique in that you’re almost guaranteed to NOT leave it on 24/7 and it plays everything in fullscreen so there’s basically no way for it to burn in. Being worried about OLED burn-in is like being worried about SSD read/write limits
Does that setting really help though? I had an old LCD that got burn in from that TV guide channel, when it was still around. There are static elements on it that burned right in, which is expected. But even the scrolling menu burned in too, it was just a blurry vertical burn-in. I don't see how the screen slightly moving wouldn't just cause a blurry burn in as well. Unless OLED burn in is a lot different than LCD.
I just don't trust them still. I'm waiting for the day I can just leave something on all the time and not worry. Modern LCDs seemed to have gotten rid of the problem without any extra bullshit. I'm waiting for that day for OLED.
>have to jitter the offset of the screen all over the place to prevent burn in
this is so fucking stupid, really turning me off from buying oled deck. I fucking hate oled.
doubt it, you'd be playing games most of the time so everything would be moving around and you wouldn't have many static elements on the screen for very long at a time. switch OLED users don't seem to be encountering it (aside from a video where a dude left a static image on the screen for days straight as a test) so i don't see how it'd be any different for the deck unless the panels they're using are particularly garbage
Idk my switch lite was laid off when the oled model was released. I didn't buy the oled model. Mine was just deemed obsolete and now all it does is sit at home and watch maury and drink pbr and complain about brown people.
That garbage was obsolete the day it came out because real PCs and the switch both existed already, even a gaming laptop is a better choice, the only thing steam deck ever replaced was other pointless portable PCs
I refuse to believe it's almost 2024 and somebody out there still compares the ergonomics of a handheld with a laptop. I honestly can't believe it. Did you fall off your bed as an infant or something?
you cant upgrade or replace parts. Laptops allow replacement of RAM, storage, touchpad, battery and keyboard, but you cant replace anything in Deck. And Deck is only available in USA, meanwhile Switch in available in everywhere.
If you buy it from the store, the Deck is sold in retailers on third world countries, along with the switch, plus a measly tip of twice the price of course.
>the Deck is sold in retailers on third world countries
brownie here this isn't true
the retailers stocking these are just making new steam accounts in bulk to buy them with a VPN and sell them for 5x markup here
the dock which is really what would justify the purchase is like $200 where I live lol
>but you cant replace anything in Deck.
Every single part you listed except keyboard is replaceable in the Deck. It was made modular by design and valve announced the OLED version is even MORE user friendly for modification. Why do you get into arguments about things you don't know about?
It's not even technically obsolete. Something that is technically obsolete is like a 2G phone or a pager. Last year's model isn't obsolete unless you're some kind of pathetic keep-up-with-the-Joneses consoomer who is only happy if something is the latest and greatest rather than what sees your needs met.
I intend to turn my Deck into something I can play on my TV with a presumed holiday dock sale, and the intended games for that course are not gonna be really needing the slight benefits of the OLED. If I had the opportunity to trade off, mind you, I would, because I enjoy the thing for the most part but wouldn't mind not needing fucking Decky just to get this LCD panel to look decent.
nta but its a great entry level version of a desktop with the cool portable factor, mine came in handy when my desktop was unsusable while waiting for parts in the mail. if ur not a performance hog and temper ur expectations its all u need tbh
There's opportunities you can do with this thing that a simple laptop is an overpriced bitch to work with. Like getting a game I really want my aunt to play that she hasn't played since like 2006, that emulates perfectly fine on the SD. You can just bring this sucker to anywhere in your house and make any monitor or TV and an outlet into a console spot on the fly with it and minimal setup.
I ordered the 256gb model on a whim yesterday. Kind of regret in a way. Could have got the old base model for the discounted price, and slapped an SSD in it, and still paid what I did for the actual model I ordered. I know I could still cancel my order, but I'm going to stick with my mistake and see how it all pans out.
Retarded. You have the option to cancel your lcd order and get the oled in a week? But you're just gonna stick it out?
THERE IS STILL TIME TO STOP THE KEY FROM TURNING
Other way round. I ordered the oled model on a whim, but then I thought how I could have saved money if I just bought the older LCD model. But to be honest, it's not a big deal, which is why I don't care.
Nah it is. You are consumed by fomo, the expensive thing you bought is now the inferior version, especially if you bought recently or the older models higher end variant. Everytime you pick it up or turn it on, it's all you can think about. If only you waited.
Still doesn't make people's fear of missing out on literal pixels and polygons to impress noone but themselves any more pathetic than anything.
Preorder bonuses and how easily people fall for them also make my blood boil.
Nobody actually cares about your special pixels on screen, and spending money on them is contributing to the problem of why more games run like shit instead of getting completed
fomo is what drives 99% of the sales of anything these days, all thanks to israeli marketing tricks like >OH MY HECKITY HECKIN HECK HECK IF YOU WON'T PRE-ORDER OR BUY AT LAUNCH THE THING RIGHT NOW AT FULL PRICE YOU WILL MISS OUT ON THE HECKIN EXPERIENCERINO, AND IF YOU BUY IT MUCH LATER, THE EXPERIENCE LITERALLY WILL NOT BE THE SAME
>10 percent
They've dropped in price by hundreds of dollars. Valve is being extremely aggressive with the pricing because they know they can make it all back on steam.
People needed that pointed out to them? Are Redditors really such braindead consoomers that the one with an extra 2 IQ points needs to stand up and say "You know, maybe I could just keep the one I already have"?
>still didn't buy original deck >still probably won't buy oled deck >all because valve still doesn't sell it in my country
cmon volvo, I refuse to order it through someone else because it will not give me a neon steam profile theme
neon theme is restricted to steam accounts that bought 'eck through steam store
It's not but I was greedy and broke my own waitfag rules so now I pay the price by having a device I play in bed for an hour or so be not quite as pretty to look at and 5% heavier.....the pain is unbearable. If I were an ancient japanese the sudoku would call to me
Fine, but the PS2 emulator has some input latency problems. So if you're playing games that require quick reaction times, it wouldn't be the best way to play. That's an emulator issue, not a steam deck issue.
That's a little depressing honestly. I guess it would be worth it to get one to play the games I already own and haven't started, but I was hoping to play stuff like Haunting Ground or Timesplitters
Fine, but the PS2 emulator has some input latency problems. So if you're playing games that require quick reaction times, it wouldn't be the best way to play. That's an emulator issue, not a steam deck issue.
Even if you emulate PS2 games on a monster PC, you'll still get the same latency issues. Well, on PCSX2 anyway. It's always been a problem. The latency is nothing horrific, and it would certainly be a "milage may vary" situation. Because in some games you won't even notice it.
goddamn how do you even leave your house being that retarded

I haven’t had any trouble other than widescreen hacks for MGS 2 and 3 being a little borked. GC and Xbox are also very solid.
7th gen stuff is where things get more hit and miss.
Imagine feeling the need to own any of these overpriced pieces of shit when the Switch exists and the only sensible thing to play on either of them is indie titles
i have a shitch and would prioritize buying games on it before i got my deck and games were often 2-3 times more expensive that compared to their steam version.
>steamies now have to buy a new graphics card every 2 years and a new steam deck every year
these are the same retards making fun of having to buy a console every 5 years btw
>have to
But no they don't. If you have a good enough PC, no one is forcing you to buy this. How is this anything like a console situation? It's not like Steam is releasing exclusives to this device, and then being like "sorry Goy! Gotta buy the handheld!" It's literally just a handheld PC, with some additional bells and whistles. If that's sounds cool, go for it. If it doesn't, you can still play your games on a traditional desktop. There's no gated shit here like a console.
I never owned a Vita but isn't the fat Vita better by like every metric except weight? I read they gimped the screen for the slim and the general build quality but maybe that was just fat owner cope
>battery life still shit >still struggles to run the newest games
Why would anyone buy this? Why not just wait for a deck 2 at this point? Oh well hopefully some retards will be selling their decks for dirt cheap so I can flip them I guess.
Depends on what you're looking for. I'm fine with it, since I mostly play older games anyway. And the fact that it can emulate mostly everything from Switch down is absolutely a bonus.
I can kind of see this, but honestly I prefer to play old PC games on a desktop anyways because I'm a M+KB fag and for anything older emulating I just use a chinkheld.
The people unironically buying a goydeck only really play vampure survivor's clones, shitty roguelites and goyRPGs about depression.
They don't need the extra power.
the problem with newest games is developers not optimizing, doesn't make sense the deck can run MK11 AT 60FPS with ultra settings meanwhile MK1 struggles to reach 50 fps with the lowest of Lowest settings
> OLED > 90Hz > Better trackpads and sticks
It's would be more competitive in mmofps with gyro+flick stick+trackpads
But valve pigs overbloat CS2 so it will consume 15 watt in minimal settings and 640x360p on steam deck
Honestly as many issues as people have with the Deck, which could be justified, it’s just been a great device for me. Played so many games I never would’ve gotten around to.
It's literally the same as switch vs switch oled
oled is clearly superior if you need a new console because your old one died or you don't have one but paying a premium just for some QoL is fucking retarded
Everyone is always overpaying for something now vs. waiting. You'll wait until your grave and there will still never be a time where you don't get israeliteed
This day and age it's painfully clear that companies release the prototype first, have the early adopters (dumb drooling retards) recoup dev costs, then release the actual product 3 years later. It's not like some scientist went "Eureka!!!" and developed some new screen that Valve went gaga over and just had to incorporate it. They probably developed them concurrently and as soon as the bean counter gave them the thumbs up, it's suddenly "The ultimate way to play".
obviously more expensive qol stuff is getting added later retard-kun
why put expensive oleds in hardware that can easily bomb instead of making everyone want the thing then release premium version later for more free money?
Also just wait for ifixit to release an OLED replacement screen and install it yourself if it bothers you that much, you technologically incompetent zoomies
As a boomer, OLED is a huge upgrade. Way better brightness, contrast, and colors on top of 90hz in this case and HDR support. Even more, the OLED deck has a bigger battery, slightly bigger panel, and a more efficient CPU. It's a very nice mid gen refresh and I'll be returning mine for one
We can all agree though that having a sale for the old models like a month and a half before announcing/releasing this was a dick move though right? They could've even been honest and just loaded off the old models and some people would've bought them anyway but they chose to trick people instead
Did anyone need this PSA? Anyone who bought a Deck would know that. It's a PC. Even when the Deck2 comes out the Deck will still be getting all the same proton and steamos updates and still play tons of new games. It won't be obsolete for a long time.
The correct thing to do is for Valve to refund or exchange the LED steam deck for the OLED one for free to those who bought it in the last few months (2-3). It sucks paying the same price for an inferior hardware when the time period in question is such a short one
Just ask. Valve is usually pretty lenient with returns if you can actually talk to an employee. Tell them you want to put the money into the new deck so they're not just losing a sale.
Both the Steam Decks aren't compatible with next gen engines like Alan Wake 2 unable to run on the Deck. Not my problem you bought these expensive outdated systems on a chip when the Switch 2 is around the corner with Unreal Engine 5 compatibility.
>Both the Steam Decks aren't compatible with next gen engines like Alan Wake 2
Sure they are. Its up to the devs to actually optimize their games and not leave it like a fucking disaster like AW2 and the new Cities game.
I mean it is. It's not SUPER obsolete in that it's mostly the same internals but the new one has better battery life and a much better screen for about the same price as the old one
>the thing I've owned and used for over a year is no longer the newest thing
Oh no!! Gabe, you tricked me! Technology was supposed to stop!
I should have just waited to buy the new thing which will surely be the last thing ever but for real this time.
they promised there wouldn't be upgrades for a few years at the bare minimum then did a massive sale not that long ago
that's as scummy as it gets, to the point pretty sure they will get sued over it, and valve being valve they can just not give a shit about it either
They did not promise that. They said there was not going to be one with better performance any time soon, but that they were looking into ways to improve the base deck with revisions.
Just always le wait bro. Just, le wait.
Imagine buying PS1 or PS2 or PS3 or PS4 or PS5. lol! All obsolete. I'm not even buying PS6 because they're gonna make a PS7 before I'm even dead and that's a scam. Only buy the last thing ever made you idiots
https://www.theverge.com/2023/9/21/23884863/valve-steam-deck-2-refresh-upgrade-cpu-2025 >Valve: don’t expect a faster Steam Deck ‘in the next couple of years’ >don’t expect a faster >faster
your fault if you're illiterate
I'm not too concerned with the difference between LCD and OLED, what has me interested is the better battery and lighter weight (weight being my biggest hangup with the Deck)?
mid cycle refreshes like this do bum me out, but I'm just not irresponsible enough to spend another $600+ on a few minor upgrades. I'll wait for the next version to upgrade
The first 3 days I unboxed it I was so fucking disappointed because the screen was so shit.
The screen had terrible colors where reds looked orange. Not even vibrant deck could fix it and it was really noticeable on super mario sunshine in the first level at the airstrip where you have to fight the first goop monster. Compared to even my gigabyte m27q 100% DCI-P3 IPS monitor it looked fucking terrible.
I packed it up and sent that shit back and got a full refund. Now 6 months later and steam deck OLED releasing I'm pretty happy that there's finally a handheld that's good.
All I wanted was a deck with an OLED screen that plays gamecube games and switch games.
i honestly have no idea how can anyone unbox it, see the screen and not instantly return it from sheer disgust at how shit the screen was
for that price point it's simply unacceptable to have a screen worse than cheap ass chinkdroid handhelds
the battery will last 2 hours tops even with the oled and improved specs, don't bother
just learn to stream your gayms from your gayman pc at home to your phone or a dedicated cheap chinkdroid
Mine actually is
I've barely used it and like 6 months after owning it, EVERY SINGLE CHARGER I use says "slow charging", it charges like 1% an hour, so I can use it like once a week
I never felt like doing a support ticket, mailing it to them, waiting, etc. I don't even know what the warranty or support is
So just a 600$ paper weight.
if the charger it comes with doesn't fast charge it then obviously something is wrong with it, just send a support ticket instead of wasting your money, nigga
the cheapest new model is like 50% more expensive than the old cheapest one so if you bought that then you still got a pretty good deal afaic. I haven't really used mine yet but I wouldn't have bought a new model anyway at the new price. I would just buy a small laptop.
This. It's not the oled, it's the shame of people knowing I don't have the oled. They're going to laugh at me when my deck dies after only running for 4 hours instead of 6.
It's more like anons tried to warn other anons to just wait a bit because there will be a Deck 2 just like there is going to be a Switch 1.5 or whatever.
It's a better display and plays switch games better than the switch itself does. Isn't that why people are going to get it? This is a switch with good specs and a better display.
Neither do emulators. If you are getting stuttering, that's user error. Download a shader cache.

3.5 gives better performance. The OLED deck will too. It runs multiplats better than the Switch and most exclusives as well as the Switch. There's some where the performance might be 30 FPS instead of 60 FPS on the native hardware but those are games like Mario Wonder. Games like Kirby and the Forgotten Land which are 30 FPS on native hardware are also 30 FPS on the Deck. You can also load up a Wii U emulator for a lot of the Switch "exclusives" and get a better experience like with BotW.

It doesn't though. It has a minor dip when he swallows an enemy. You can see the frametime stays perfect as he interacts with enemies, spawns coins, cuts grass, etc without budging which, if anything, is evidence that the dip is likely from shader caching. Keep coping though.
I've had my steam deck for 1 year and I only use it for streaming games inside my house from my pc. It is too big to take it out of the house and when I'm out of the house, I'm working so I don't have time to play it
With battery life improvements and using remote play it could probably go a long time on a single charge. I like messing around with Linux too, the deck seems pretty tempting to me honestly.
I have had my deck since q2 and I love it but I really want that bigger battery.
Talk me out of it, I know it isn't worth another $600 but I want it so bad
Gift your deck to a friend for christmas and treat yourself to that sweet sweet oled. You will regret it every day of your life if you do not consume the new shiny.

I was having fun playing Star Ocean 2 Remake on my OG deck until this announcement, but now I've realized all that fun was a lie. Fuck valve and fuck gabe
I don't understand the appeal of the Steam Deck. I own a Switch. I bought it on a whim thinking it would be cool for the exclusives back in 2020. I instantly regretted it after placing BotW. The controls are dogshit, the graphics are dogshit, and ultimately I ended up just playing it in the Dock with a controller. At that point I may as well just play on my PC with proper KB&M or controller. I can't imagine it's any different for Steam Deck. It's even got that retarded touchpad shit that failed on the Steam controller. These handhelds just look like expensive paper weights at this point over a proper PC or even laptop. The only handheld that ever seemed worth it was the Gameboy / DS for the game that actually made sense on it. These big 3D world ones make no sense, look like ass, and play like ass.
Steamgoys are the snoys of the PC world, they will happily slurp whatever their overlords shit in their plate.
The goydeck doesn't need any appeal, they will buy it regardless, never use it outside their homes, cope by saying it's for comfy gameplay on the bed, then use it once or twice then never again.
i only ever use mine when it's nice out and i can just sit out on my patio and play a game, but i could live without it, i feel like i only really bring it outside with me just because i have it.
it does have probably my favorite controller (besides the fact that it's a giant rectangle with a screen in the middle) and i wish there was a controller with all those features, like a steam controller 2

>Asshats on Ganker love sperging out about how many thousands of dollars they spend on monitors and tvs and somehow aren't smart enoguh to realize they come with burn in protection
>BUT ALL THAT DOES IS-
Yes also look up pixel refresh
>MUH POWER CUT OFF
if you can afford all that shit you can afford a battery protected surge protector then, stop fishing for something to bitch about
The steam deck OLED isn't an LG TV OLED panel, nor does it have LG software which is what does pixel refresh and shit.
Have you ever seen a laptop? They have USB ports and bluetooth.
>USB ports
see picrel
>Bluetooth
The original Steam Deck has Bluetooth, and so does the new OLED model.
Have you seen the size of the goydeck? At that point you're better off streaming directly off your PC into your phone.
for me it replaced my switch
>plays more nintendo games than the switch
>plays most of my pc games
>does not feel like a children's toy
>and the switch
Not good enough.
you cant upgrade or replace parts.
This right here is exactly why this shit is useless
Deck replaces the switch
He's right, I saw people bitching and they bought the lcd model like 6 months ago
No shit, old tech works just fine most of the time. The "obsolete" mindset is weird
t.don't own any of those decks
copium maximus
Well it's techincally obsolete, but does not mean it can't still be used, consomeers are idiots
>Buying a deck
>Just to leave it docked
Why not just buy a PC then?
don't question goyims
This has prevented me from buying any console since like 2005
it's cheaper than a PC with the same specs
nta but its a great entry level version of a desktop with the cool portable factor, mine came in handy when my desktop was unsusable while waiting for parts in the mail. if ur not a performance hog and temper ur expectations its all u need tbh
>FOMO
Missing out on what exactly?
It's just a fancy portable pc
There isn't any battlepasses or event skins that you're missing out on, are you?
Do zommers really?
>battle passes
>event skins
>calling others zoomers
the irony
>smugly implies that missing out on battle passes and event skins is a legitimate thing to fear
>calls other people zoomers
Post your birth year NOW.
You got me anon, am born 1999
Still doesn't make people's fear of missing out on literal pixels and polygons to impress noone but themselves any more pathetic than anything.
Preorder bonuses and how easily people fall for them also make my blood boil.
Nobody actually cares about your special pixels on screen, and spending money on them is contributing to the problem of why more games run like shit instead of getting completed
Tldr:
>go fuck me and yourself
fomo is what drives 99% of the sales of anything these days, all thanks to israeli marketing tricks like
>OH MY HECKITY HECKIN HECK HECK IF YOU WON'T PRE-ORDER OR BUY AT LAUNCH THE THING RIGHT NOW AT FULL PRICE YOU WILL MISS OUT ON THE HECKIN EXPERIENCERINO, AND IF YOU BUY IT MUCH LATER, THE EXPERIENCE LITERALLY WILL NOT BE THE SAME
everytime i read something like this i think "there is no way people actually fall for this"
and i then i see the people who will refuse to play anything not released in current year.
the people bankrupting themselves over battle passes and skins.
the people who will accept a bad game purely because it's the latest one in the series and will pay full price for it.
to be fair it ain't all that wrong thanks to scalper culture
which makes me think scalpers are just company employees these days
>that absolute territory
Cartoons have always been this horny huh
if you bought the older models higher end variant you were scammed way before the oled got announced
you are mentally ill
in more ways than one
I hope you rot in jail, pedo
you too
>FOMO
only applies to the "limited edition"
So does this mean the non oled ones are going to go on sale? If it was 100 bucks cheaper I'd consider buying one
Yes. The old models have dropped in price by like 10 percent or something.
the 512gb lcd refurbished is at the same price
>refurbished
you're the type of dude to use another mans condom, huh
I don't use condoms, incel
>10 percent
They've dropped in price by hundreds of dollars. Valve is being extremely aggressive with the pricing because they know they can make it all back on steam.
Here's the truth bucko. If you got one of these old ass non O screens you're basically fucking stupid and poor. All my screens have O in them.
yes your computer is also obsolete if you don't have oled screen plugged in to it lol.
might as well throw the whole thing in trash
It is obsolete. Now sell your LCD models cheaply en masse.
People needed that pointed out to them? Are Redditors really such braindead consoomers that the one with an extra 2 IQ points needs to stand up and say "You know, maybe I could just keep the one I already have"?
Yes.
>still didn't buy original deck
>still probably won't buy oled deck
>all because valve still doesn't sell it in my country
cmon volvo, I refuse to order it through someone else because it will not give me a neon steam profile theme
neon theme is restricted to steam accounts that bought 'eck through steam store
not true
i bought mine from a ebay seller and i still got the theme
Just curious, how does that work?
I have had a steam deck since launch and used it maybe 3000 times.
>used it maybe 3000 times.
Fucking casual
fuck off u fat homosexual im not going to cum on my deck
It's not but I was greedy and broke my own waitfag rules so now I pay the price by having a device I play in bed for an hour or so be not quite as pretty to look at and 5% heavier.....the pain is unbearable. If I were an ancient japanese the sudoku would call to me
thats some top shelf cope
I have a good PC already, but I kinda wanna get one to play at work or in bed. How do PS2 games un on it?
All of them I've tried so far run okay. I get some slowdown once in a while in Ratchet and Clank but it's pretty rare and minimal.
That's an emulator issue, not a steam deck issue.
>b-blame the deck
lmao steamkeks are so pathetic
What's a better handheld that runs PS2 games perfectly?
pretty sure any of the mid-tier chinkdroid devices can, so the fact the goydeck can't is laughable
wrong retard, see
goddamn how do you even leave your house being that retarded
Even if you emulate PS2 games on a monster PC, you'll still get the same latency issues. Well, on PCSX2 anyway. It's always been a problem. The latency is nothing horrific, and it would certainly be a "milage may vary" situation. Because in some games you won't even notice it.
It ruined some shooters for me like medal of honor.
I haven’t had any trouble other than widescreen hacks for MGS 2 and 3 being a little borked. GC and Xbox are also very solid.
7th gen stuff is where things get more hit and miss.
But it totally is
Hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Imagine feeling the need to own any of these overpriced pieces of shit when the Switch exists and the only sensible thing to play on either of them is indie titles
>overpriced
You say that, and compare it to a switch, which given its weaker performance is even more overpriced. Really?
i have a shitch and would prioritize buying games on it before i got my deck and games were often 2-3 times more expensive that compared to their steam version.
I can't play WoW at work on a Switch. At least not that I know of.
>Switch
enjoy your input lag
It was always obsolete
>steamies now have to buy a new graphics card every 2 years and a new steam deck every year
these are the same retards making fun of having to buy a console every 5 years btw
good morning sir
DO NOT REDEEM SIR DO NOT REDEEM
What am I supposed to glean from this image?
That it's always indians doing this shit and probably on a payroll worth a couple of cents
>have to
But no they don't. There's no gated shit here like a console.
this. im pretty sure gaben approved making this shit just to read the seething comments online
steamgoys don't buy GPUs, there's a reason they only play pixelshit indies
>there's a reason they only play plixelshit indies
because nothing new is worth a fuck
Steamies seethe and review bomb any game that only runs on 4090 though
Omega Giga cope
It is tho.
It's fat vita / slim vita again
I never owned a Vita but isn't the fat Vita better by like every metric except weight? I read they gimped the screen for the slim and the general build quality but maybe that was just fat owner cope
Original Vita was OLED, the newer ones were LCD
Correct, it was obsolete when it was released.
PSA: Yes it is and saying otherwise is just how poor people cope.
Someone please talk me off the ledge of double dipping. I just bought mine two months ago and its great but the screen is the worst aspect of it.
Take a loss and sell it then.
double dip and give the old one to a bro
play some shit together
I have an lcd monitor and two oled phones and let me tell you lcd is hog shit doesn't matter if glossy or matte
When the pg32ucdm comes out fucking buy it you stone age plebs
>pg32ucdm
Shit won't be out til march or april
>battery life still shit
>still struggles to run the newest games
Why would anyone buy this? Why not just wait for a deck 2 at this point? Oh well hopefully some retards will be selling their decks for dirt cheap so I can flip them I guess.
mine can run dying light 2015 at 1080p docked on a monitor at 30 fps or so. Pretty impressive, like a portable ps4
Why would you play consoleslop?
The people unironically buying a goydeck only really play vampure survivor's clones, shitty roguelites and goyRPGs about depression.
They don't need the extra power.
the problem with newest games is developers not optimizing, doesn't make sense the deck can run MK11 AT 60FPS with ultra settings meanwhile MK1 struggles to reach 50 fps with the lowest of Lowest settings
I bought a Deck because of the ick on eck poster.
thinking about buying the $400 256gb lcd because it's a reasonable price. $530 is not a reasonable price.
I mean, that pretty much is the definition of obsolete
> OLED
> 90Hz
> Better trackpads and sticks
It's would be more competitive in mmofps with gyro+flick stick+trackpads
But valve pigs overbloat CS2 so it will consume 15 watt in minimal settings and 640x360p on steam deck
>your LCD Steam Deck is not s-ACK!
I'll wait for the next superior model
I've never understood why people buy first gen handhelds
thanks for buying the beta steam deck
thank you all redditors for beta testing, now its time for the big boys to have fun with the Deck
Thanks for beta testing
You're welcome, it's been a lot of fun.
>the one thing that makes this God tier is the screen
>But nope you can't get one and install it on your old deck
Fucking valve
pay up goyim
Thanks for beta testing.
>old thing does not have to be immediately thrown in the trash when new thing comes out
Unironically useful advice for millennials.
Honestly as many issues as people have with the Deck, which could be justified, it’s just been a great device for me. Played so many games I never would’ve gotten around to.
i’ll buy one just to read visual novels and play yakuza 5
99% of Ganker doesn't know the difference between LED and OLED.
if you have working eyes its pretty easy to tell
my new phone that i got came with an OLED screen and i was mindblown how good it was compared to my last phone that had an shitty LCD
the O
What's new. Niggas don't even talk about what kind of lcd screen it is either.
I've been financially ruined.
I bought a fucking steam deck you stupid valve retards. YOU TOOK MY MONEY
it's obsolete.
OLED > LCD
It's literally the same as switch vs switch oled
oled is clearly superior if you need a new console because your old one died or you don't have one but paying a premium just for some QoL is fucking retarded
Not obsolete but you paid more for the worse model
Everyone is always overpaying for something now vs. waiting. You'll wait until your grave and there will still never be a time where you don't get israeliteed
the cope is real
I have had an OLED vita & an LCD vita and I don't remember there being a noticeable difference.
Zoomers are needlessly obsessed with spending thousands of dollars for a .01% graphical improvement
Also just wait for ifixit to release an OLED replacement screen and install it yourself if it bothers you that much, you technologically incompetent zoomies
I fucking wish that would happen. Especially before my metallic red shell gets delivered.
Well still
If someone has an old model just do this.
The steam deck is actually really easy to rebuild
We can all agree though that having a sale for the old models like a month and a half before announcing/releasing this was a dick move though right? They could've even been honest and just loaded off the old models and some people would've bought them anyway but they chose to trick people instead
valve is arrogant. gaben treats people like cattle
not like it's unjustified, steamgoys continue to suck valve's dick even while they are fucked in the ass raw
Not sure why, I got it cheaper so what's the problem?
It's scummy behavior
But I literally paid less, what's scummy about it? If you don't like LCD screens why would you buy one in the first place?
Did anyone need this PSA? Anyone who bought a Deck would know that. It's a PC. Even when the Deck2 comes out the Deck will still be getting all the same proton and steamos updates and still play tons of new games. It won't be obsolete for a long time.
lol OLED is the biggest meme ever and a paltry cost that switch idiots will gobble up
retard
>mfw ive been beta testing
>mfw ive been having beta fun instead of Fun 1.0 release
Mother of god you're right. I regret everything. I will be altering my memories of all the Fun 1.0 I thought I had into what it really is, Fun 0.1
Cope.exe
>ITT: Cope
$500 isn't a lot for the average PC homosexual to cope over when they already drop $5000 on even worse shit that gets outdated immediately
Average PC chads do not do that. That's the hardware geeks and they are in their own little world.
The correct thing to do is for Valve to refund or exchange the LED steam deck for the OLED one for free to those who bought it in the last few months (2-3). It sucks paying the same price for an inferior hardware when the time period in question is such a short one
no they should allow that for all of us that ever bought a steam deck.
My mint condition deck deserves an upgrade
I should have just waited to buy the new thing which will surely be the last thing ever but for real this time.
they promised there wouldn't be upgrades for a few years at the bare minimum then did a massive sale not that long ago
that's as scummy as it gets, to the point pretty sure they will get sued over it, and valve being valve they can just not give a shit about it either
it's always dumb to buy the first iteration of hardware
let the impulsive people beta test it, and make sure it doesn't explode while you're sleeping
>they promised there wouldn't be upgrades for a few years at the bare minimum
Source: your ass
They did not promise that. They said there was not going to be one with better performance any time soon, but that they were looking into ways to improve the base deck with revisions.
>300€ for a deck is a scam because months later you can buy one with a better screen for 570€
damn... if only i had waited...
Just always le wait bro. Just, le wait.
Imagine buying PS1 or PS2 or PS3 or PS4 or PS5. lol! All obsolete. I'm not even buying PS6 because they're gonna make a PS7 before I'm even dead and that's a scam. Only buy the last thing ever made you idiots
https://www.theverge.com/2023/9/21/23884863/valve-steam-deck-2-refresh-upgrade-cpu-2025
>Valve: don’t expect a faster Steam Deck ‘in the next couple of years’
>don’t expect a faster
>faster
your fault if you're illiterate
I would love to see some retards such as yourself try to sue Valve over this lmao
Kek fomo retards are coping. Buying the oled next week
I did own a steam deck briefly.
This. I saw the first version since my friend had it. It was shit. I just want an oled screen so I can use retroarch.
i honestly have no idea how can anyone unbox it, see the screen and not instantly return it from sheer disgust at how shit the screen was
for that price point it's simply unacceptable to have a screen worse than cheap ass chinkdroid handhelds
Oh look pasta.
Not really. I typed it yesterday similarly but I'm still the same person.
the struggle goes on
Alright- I’ve avoided a Steam deck until now but I just got back into playing Civ 6 so I feel like this would be perfect for it
Someone talk me out of it please
the battery will last 2 hours tops even with the oled and improved specs, don't bother
just learn to stream your gayms from your gayman pc at home to your phone or a dedicated cheap chinkdroid
>same shit with new screen gets announced
>consoomers start freaking out and scrounging for cash to buy the new one
Capitalism is so fucking gay.
>EVERY SINGLE CHARGER
including the one that came with it?
not many chargers will do 15v 3A
if the one it comes with says slow charging then obviously it's fucked.
if the charger it comes with doesn't fast charge it then obviously something is wrong with it, just send a support ticket instead of wasting your money, nigga
the cheapest new model is like 50% more expensive than the old cheapest one so if you bought that then you still got a pretty good deal afaic. I haven't really used mine yet but I wouldn't have bought a new model anyway at the new price. I would just buy a small laptop.
Now if I go out with my OG steamdeck people won't just think I'm a sperg, they'll think I'm a POOR sperg! Not like this bros
This. It's not the oled, it's the shame of people knowing I don't have the oled. They're going to laugh at me when my deck dies after only running for 4 hours instead of 6.
The announcement did make it look like the $399 model was also upgraded when it was just a pittance of storage.
>MUST HAVE NEW SHINY THING
Steam is a cult
It's more like anons tried to warn other anons to just wait a bit because there will be a Deck 2 just like there is going to be a Switch 1.5 or whatever.
There's always new things coming out, that's how everything works.
Valve isn't allowed to do that, it's cheating.
It goes against everything they've done, wonder if this will bring any optimization problems, they've never been good at multitasking.
I pity anyone who thinks this is Deck 2 or a good deal.
It's a better display and plays switch games better than the switch itself does. Isn't that why people are going to get it? This is a switch with good specs and a better display.
>better
lol no, it plays switch games, that is true, but switch doesn't have microstutters.
Neither do emulators. If you are getting stuttering, that's user error. Download a shader cache.
Why is it always this excuse? It isn't hard to test the emulators, they chug, it's a fact.
Because it's not an excuse. Emulators run great, your PC is shit or you're not downloading shaders.
>My PC
You said the Deck, the fuck other PCs have to do with this?
I'm a different anon chiming in. With the deck you have to change around settings but it will still work fine. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube for people that cant into Linux to follow.
Yeah and it still chugs, and modifying anything to make it run at lower settings than the switch proves my point.
>and modifying anything to make it run at lower settings than the switch
That's not how it works.
Yes that's how it works.
Prove it.
Frameskipping.
I don't think Yuzu and Ryujinx even offer that as an option, and even if they did, it's not needed.
You can also load up a Wii U emulator for a lot of the Switch "exclusives" and get a better experience like with BotW.
>also 30fps on the Deck
With stutters, I love this thing, it's probably the best small investment I've done in years, but no, it's not perfect and it chugs.
I played through TotK on the Deck, it ran significantly better than what shitch users had to deal with and I got to play a few weeks early without the piss filter
No, the Deck excels as a $400 UMPC. $150 extra for a little battery and OLED is a pretty shit deal.
>and plays switch games better than the switch itself does
>still posting this 2 year old webm
It has surpassed shitposting and is now total cope
Agreed. It's so amazing to drink the tears of deckies from this webm. They have no defense or rebuttal. They can only cope and seethe.
>any response to an outdated webm is cope and seethe
>posts a 2 year old WEBM of Kirby being played on yuzu before the yuzu devs fixed it like a week after this video was made
>"there's no way to defend or rebut this, heh"
Yeah totally, tendies don't look like pathetic seething fags at all. In-development emulators of modern console are totally known to have zero bugs ever and run flawlessly all of the time, no patches or updates needed.
why keep posting something that has been refuted countless times already?
Silly anon, you know why.
>steamie posts very obvious speed up footage as if it proves his point
>doesn't realize this makes him only appear more mentally unstable
Many sad cases
the frametime graph is right there in the webm, retard
Oh so you're even editing the graphs in the video now? Damn you steamies are dedicated
>its not real!! it's not real!! it can't be real this can't be happening
you are deranged, please keep the copes coming
Clearly chugging.
get your eyes checked
There's a graph in there, retard, lrn2plot
I'm looking at the graph. It's a flat line the entire way through except for 1 dip when he swallows an enemy. I don't know how you can get any closer to perfect frametime than a flat fucking line.
>except for 1 dip when he swallows an enemy.
good thing that never happens in Kirby very often
anon, the fact it almost shits itself at the slightest sign of action is not a good thing, the instant gameplay goes further than the tutorial for babies the deck is going to start chugging all the way down to 10 fps if it's barely hitting 30
>the fact it almost shits itself at the slightest sign of action is not a good thing
It doesn't though. It has a minor dip when he swallows an enemy. You can see the frametime stays perfect as he interacts with enemies, spawns coins, cuts grass, etc without budging which, if anything, is evidence that the dip is likely from shader caching. Keep coping though.
OK now post one with an oledeck
consoom product
you need to buy the newest thing every year do it do it you don't want to be left out
Black Look What I Borrowed Anon, are you okay?
LMAO Redditors are truly snowflakes.
Reminds me of all the suicide PSAs I see during big gacha celebrations.
I'd buy a 64gb steam deck for $200. Hopefully people start selling theirs in the used market by December or january
Oh, they will, lots of tech illiterates bought it for some reason. Have fun, anon.
and then you'd be straddled with a portable pc with shit screen that needs an ssd investment
>all those fomo retards selling their hardly used shit
2nd hand bros will be eating well
I've had my steam deck for 1 year and I only use it for streaming games inside my house from my pc. It is too big to take it out of the house and when I'm out of the house, I'm working so I don't have time to play it
You have got to hand it to 'eck fans on this board for somehow managing to both be PC master master race guys and console war guys.
the new deck will be able to run the new games
if valve does that nobody will forgive them
Waitchads win again.
What if Steam Deck 2 is announced next year? Better wait more.
>better battery
>better screen
>better framerates
Lcd deck is obsolete
I'm not a trannie so I wouldn't buy one anyways
yes it is fucking obsolete
I WANT NEW THING AND I WANT IT NOW
With battery life improvements and using remote play it could probably go a long time on a single charge. I like messing around with Linux too, the deck seems pretty tempting to me honestly.
I know. It is now going to be my backup/travel deck.
I have had my deck since q2 and I love it but I really want that bigger battery.
Talk me out of it, I know it isn't worth another $600 but I want it so bad
Why don't you just put a bigger battery in yourself?
uwu idk if it will fit onii-chan
Stop being a retarded goyim and just buy a battery bank.
I don't want to carry more shit around and I hate the way the cord drapes onto my hands because the port is on top.
Gift your deck to a friend for christmas and treat yourself to that sweet sweet oled. You will regret it every day of your life if you do not consume the new shiny.
>no friends
>brother doesn't want it because he has a desktop
what now? I know I'm not going to able to sell this shit because I just checked and there's been like 50 new listings in the past day
It absolutely is inferior, OLED is a better screen with more vibrant colors.
If you can't afford to drop a measly 700 bucks on a device once every few years then you're living wrong.
DOMP ET
And it wont be years down the line when the screen is still good and the OLED starts having burn in.
I already snapped it in half and tossed in the trash next to my OG Switch.
I want the battery and speed improvements, but I don’t want the shitty OLED screen that will get burn in after a year.
Burn-in hasn't been a problem for mobile OLED screens for like 10 years, dude.
PSA: OP is a redditard and sucks cock
I never buy new products. My patience has been rewarded.
These things run Arch, right? Or SteamOS that's built on Arch?
SteamOs is a fork of arch with KDE and some custom firmware and valve rolling out updates. You can't even use pacman by default. It's a very retard friendly, just werks experience if you're willing to put up with flatpaks. If not, you can make an overlay fs.

>Copefags who have been defending the lack of OLED against Switchfags now instantly kneeling and desprately trying to sell their -ecks save up for the exact same thing but with a glossy OLED and 10 more minutes on Elden Ring.
I seriously hope you guys don't do this.
Any Gankerirgin that defends their purchase without any hint of criticism is a shill.
There are no perfect products.
Meh. I get to buy a new OLED and I get to gift my brother my old one. Everyone wins.
I’m mostly mad now because I procrastinated on putting my deck on ebay and its value probably just fucking tanked.
I want to sell my deck so bad. Idk what they go for but I want at least $400
I just want cheap 13-14" craptop with 7640U and OLED. Is that too much to ask?
I did own a steam deck briefly.
All I wanted was a deck with an OLED screen that plays PSO:BB and .hack// games.
Stop fucking reposting my original text.
Please stop pretending to be me.
Nice pasta.
>I don't understand the appeal of the Steam Deck.
It's a potable emulation+Indie machine for me.
Steamgoys are the snoys of the PC world, they will happily slurp whatever their overlords shit in their plate.
The goydeck doesn't need any appeal, they will buy it regardless, never use it outside their homes, cope by saying it's for comfy gameplay on the bed, then use it once or twice then never again.
>never use it outside their homes
This is me but I still play games almost exclusively on Deck rather than desktop
i only ever use mine when it's nice out and i can just sit out on my patio and play a game, but i could live without it, i feel like i only really bring it outside with me just because i have it.
it does have probably my favorite controller (besides the fact that it's a giant rectangle with a screen in the middle) and i wish there was a controller with all those features, like a steam controller 2
My steam deck was obsolete the moment I got my potato pc fixed but im too lazy twhwygro sell it.
I mean, yeah. Only a retard buys the same system again because of a negligible ""upgrade""
BUT I MUST CONSUME >:~~*
the fact that you spent the time making this and got zero replies is deliciously pathetic. here’s a (you) before you kys
Hyperconsoomer society has already fucked everything over. There is no salvation.
if this is your response to a new little gay gamer toy being released then you are the hyperconsoomer
have a nice day retard
being 14 is rough but dont worry it gets worse
cant you just buy it again ?
theres no rule you can only buy one
I'm not a fucking charity
Hahaha thanks for beta testing the PSX, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5 you fucking losers. You should only ever buy the last version of anything that gets made just before you die. Suckers.
