SMT classically has very little in the ways of story. It is combat oriented. There's a reason why Mainline and Persona fans tend to not like each other.
Ok should I play Nocturne remastered or is it a very egregious port?

I haven't played it myself, but I don't think it's egregious from what I know of it even if it wasn't completely satisfactory. I think the only major change is how fusion inheritance works, where the re-release lets you select what skills get passed on like P4G/P5 but the original release had it be random, like P3 or vanilla P4.

The nocturne remaster is fine. It brings decent enough QoL improvements (mainly choosing skill inheritance and having a more accurate script despite some additional unnecessary swearing that wasn’t in the original) and you can mod the pc version to have some music be uncompressed compared to the original. The worst part about it is the lightning is worse than the original in some sections which heavily detract from the atmosphere of the original, you also got voice acting which some people don’t like but you can mute that shit in the menu

>why so much autism?
because they are jrpg and social sim hybrids with a large "fanbase," much of which has not actually played any games from the series >any good?
yes
They are good if you like that specific kind of game
Also I didn't read the thread but while 1 and 2 are not absolute horrible game they are miles bellow the other 3
they bring out the autism because of how easy it is to project onto them and the shitty waifu shit.
No, they're all pretty bad, though Persona 1 gets props for at least juggling some interesting concepts and having a really solid cast.
>complaining about autism on Ganker of all places
To answer your question. It’s a jrpg with romance visual novel elements that relies on the player to be personally invested into the characters and stories. Additionally, it has the usual fanbase problem where there’s a frickton of infighting over what is the best game in the series because typically the one you find the best is either the one you played first or the one that emotionally resonated with you the most >are they any good?
I personally don’t like P2EP or 3, but objectively speaking they’re at the very least decent games but they’re niche in the sense you’ll need to have a tolerance for shit like long sections of not a lot is happening with the story, the p3-5 games are pretty long in terms of length, dungeons crawling can sometimes be pretty mediocre, stuff like the social link and social stats system is not to everyone tastes, etc. and if we’re talking about the older ones, the biggest problem is that Persona 1 is outclassed by a lot of other mainline SMT games that does the FPDC thing better, and Persona 2 ISEP can be pretty fricking boring on the occasion
If I’m being honest, I don’t entirely know why I prefer IS over EP but IS just left a stronger impression on me than EP. I don’t really have a good reason why unfortunately
>Persona 1: sucks. Recruiting demons is cancer - there are 4 different stats your decisions can modify, and you need to focus on just one. And then when you recruit them, you don't actually recruit them; you get a card, which you then use to fuse into a demon. The battle system is hobo dick-cheese tier with the grid nonsense, the main character is silent, you get tricked into accepting your permanent 5th party member without realizing it affects the ending, the music (in the PSP remake) loops after 45 seconds for every single track and is ear-grating beyond belief, and the dungeons are all featureless hallway mazes where you bump into everything like it's fricking bumper cars. >Persona 2: sucks. Better music, but too much fricking talking, censored on the PSP, same shitty graphics and first-person dungeon crawling, silent main character again but they talk when you're playing the game where they're *not* the main character. >Persona 3: sucks. Cutscenes out the ass, social links reverse if you don't coddle everyone, one battle theme for the entire game, another boring ass linear dungeon except this time it's randomly-generated with 200 floors that look identical, 90 minute boss fights, you cannot control your party members, the FES storyline has everyone acting out-of-character, and the PSP port attracted trannies to the series. >Persona 4: sucks. Same shit as 3 but with an annoying mascot character that never shuts the frick up. >Persona 5: sucks. Too long, too many cutscenes, too many moronic characters, too many political statements, dungeons become worse over time, the twist is the most impossible event to ever occur in history, and the music attracted posers to the acid jazz scene.
Oh that's nothing. I also payed SMT 3, 4, 4A, 5, Soul Hackers 1 and 2, Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2, Devil Survivor 1 and 2, Strange Journey, Persona 5 Strikers, Persona Q 1 and 2, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and I hated pretty much all of them. Nobody can tell me I didn't give this series a chance. I gave it more of a chance than it deserves, and more than anyone should reasonably give a chance to anything in life, just so I can argue with people online that try to convince unsuspecting individuals that this series is some hidden gem in gaming, and so I can be the voice of dissent, to spare people from the ungodly amount of time they would waste in attempting to complete just one of these overly-long dried-out turds. You can also find me shitting up the Souls Hackers 2 thread because that game is fricking abysmal beyond belief. Looking forward to the next Persona so I can finally burst the vein in my head from anger and finally be at peace.

You sound moronic. Not liking the games is one thing, but going out of your way to play multiple very long games you have no expectation of liking just so you can argue about them online is another. You definitely have given them a chance, but you have to be moronic to give something a chance, have it ruin the chance you gave it, but the continue to indulge it for hundreds of hours anyway.
>Persona 1
Oldschool dungeon crawler with some neat music and pretty braindead combat. It's an alright experience all things considered and the characters are compelling. The world itself evokes a feeling of nostalgia and youthful joy that set the stage for the franchise itself.
>Persona 2 Innocent Sin
By far the worst game in the franchise. From a writing perspective it's amazing, symbolism wrapped neatly together in character interactions and moments where each of them gets to shine. But holy FRICK they did not care about how it plays at all. Combat is ass, persona making is ass, dungeons are SUPER ass with their teleport puzzles.
>Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
Same as the first P2 except from an entirely different perspective. Great if you want to know more about the characters, but don't expect anything but mind-numbing tedium at every stop between story segments.
>Persona 3 FES
By far one of the best route they could have taken the franchise. Full of flaws but also genuine love and interest in making the game as good as it could be. The amount of variety in gameplay and demand from the player makes actually building your personas meaningful. Everything they throw at you has a solution and the breaks in-between story bits help you really lose yourself in the world.
>Persona 4
Takes most of what made Persona 3 good and tosses it right in the garbage. Simplifies combat and persona-making so none of it matters and you can do whatever without challenge. Characters are extremely hit or miss and overall the themes, cast and narrative took a nosedive for the sake of a more happy, upbeat and feel-good experience.
Also it is by FAR the longest intro in any Persona game until anything at all of importance happens. This combined with the overabundance of narrative-break events between important moments makes replays a total slog.
>Persona 5
Absolutely gorgeous game, it does an amazing job at getting you invested in the premise right off the bat. The music, the visuals the characters, all of it just fits together so well and it does just enough to distract from how little it does that's different from other games both in its own franchise and in the genre itself. It really suffers from the first act being the best and clearly the one they spent the most development time on. But the rest of the game is orchestrated in a way that it makes you want to know more and more. Not about the overall plot but about the world and cast themselves.
Games are fun and are coming to gamepass, give them a shot if you're into character-focused games.
4 and 5 are just friend simulators for friendless autistic weebs. Its why they never talk about 1 or 2 and the only time they talk about 3 is complaining about Yukari being mean to them instead of immediately getting line to suck their dick like the girls in 4 and 5.
Reminder that the prostitutes from 4 and 5 are so fricking cancerous, they ruin everything they touch.
Has Chie not fricked up anything she's in outside personashit? That stupid b***h not only has a homosexual fanbase that shits on things hard while being unable to take any in, they ruin everything just to suit their needs to highten this worthless c**t no matter how shitty she is in it.
>implying 3 gays every played or talked about 1 or 2ISEP outside of trying to suck up to oldgays pretending to be one of them
Also 3 started the whole friendship sim thing with the social links, doesn’t matter if your main party members takes a while to warm up to you, because you’re already trying to befriend the rest of the city
No, go away. Stay out of our club.
Love yukiko and fuuka
holy based, the 2 best girls in the entire series
THE ENEMY!!!!
Everybody who plays them are peadophiles, now kindly never get into them.
I wish there was a game like them but without the dating sim and the moronic long ass stories
I should clarify it's the combat that I quite like
just play SMT then you gay
>and the moronic long ass stories
Nocturne's one of the lightest JRPGs on story there is.
Ok should I play Nocturne remastered or is it a very egregious port?

Nothing is stopping you from playing SMT, anon.
persona 4 protagonist is an absolute chad
I like them

I've played the first two and they're pretty fun if you take them on their own terms but are very grindy. They need a balance patch.
Same reason genshit does. They attract normalgays.
The first two games are dogshit. 3, 4, and 5 are great games.
they bring out the autism because of how easy it is to project onto them and the shitty waifu shit.
No, they're all pretty bad, though Persona 1 gets props for at least juggling some interesting concepts and having a really solid cast.
They're fun turn-based combat and time management games, what else is there to say?
Persona 3 is really long at the cost of having a really small world. Even if summer is mainly filler where nothing happens.

the first two bring out 0 autism
the third brings out 2000 edgelord teen spirit
the fourth and fifth are the perfect games to play while you dilate
P2gays are pretty autistic. Also the third game is EP anyway and 3, 4 and 5 are 4th, 5th and 6th.
1 and 2 are the closest to good old SMT.
3, 4 and 5 are for homosexuals that want a dating sim.
Yukari, Rise and Futaba best girls.
