The Old Lady from route 111 isn't your grandma, homosexual. And if your Grandma pulled random strangers from the street and allowed them to spend the night at her how she wasn't "overcaring"
Hoenn’s world design was so great. The weather institute even being a thing was 10/10. They tried to do a repeat in Sinnoh with the Valley Windworks and failed.
People seething about Sinnoh is always weird to me. I think it's a cool, comfy region, and I prefer it to Hoenn (mountains>tropics). I get some of the complaints, but it's the way people foam at the mouth whenever it's brought up that confuses me.
I prefer Hoenn for sure but I also don't really get it either. People accuse gen 4 of trying to be gen 3 again, but like, yea? It's literally designed to feel like gen 3 + just like how gen 2 was designed to feel like gen 1+, carrying over basically everything but also adding a bunch of extra features and such on top of it.
I don't see how this is a bad thing, and sinnoh very clearly still has a unique identity. The entire stretch from Jubilife to Eterna city might actually be my favorite chunk of any pokemon game too.
I feel like these days people hate on sinnoh because, along with gen 2, it's one of the few gens that isn't trying to be some reimagining of the games, it's trying to be a direct follow up to it's predecessors. If you ask me, Emerald, FrLg, Platinum, and HGSS my favorite games in the series for that reason, they cover all the japanese based games and are all collectively part of the same cohesive vision for the series.
This. This whole area was my favourite in the games. I spent so much time going around Fortree City, the tall grass, the hidden bike areas. It shocks me that they never came close to that again.
In comparison, SV is so empty. Even the towns and cities don't have many neat areas once you find all the items in alleys and roof tops. There's no neat npcs in the middle of no where, the forests are sparse and empty.. you can't even enter any building outside of the school and hairdressers. How is it that PLA, a much smaller game, has 100x the amount of soul in one town? Almost every NPC has a side quest and most of them get their own partner pokemon that helps them get over their fear of pokemon. The 6 or so areas you go to have a lot of care put into their design and noticeable landmarks so you don't get lost.
My only wish is that SV's dlc brings back some of the world building.. I just want more side quests, and some buildings to enter.

Gen 4 itself just tries to do gen 3 again but falls flat on its face.
