It's a story driven series, so start with 1, if that's the only one you'll play.
Also you'd ideally play the Xbox or original PC version (this is easier to set up than you might think) NOT the Master Chief Collection.

The MCC version of Halo 1 is better than the OG version.
It's literally the only game in the collection where this is true

I'm pretty sure the AI is fricked in MCC for all games so I believe the OG discs are still better.

Halo 2s AI is mega fricked.
People b***h about Halo 2 on legendary but the enemy AI in 2 on MCC is busted and they actually fire their guns faster and react quicker than they did in the original game.

        No.

Depends really. I am a PC MCC Black person and all the games in that collection is busted for me when it comes to plasma weapons, something to do with the higher frame rate fricking with the fire rate of plasma weapons (shade turrets/ghosts/wraiths and so on too) so when I play I get lit the frick up, although it ain't really too much a problem unless you're playing on legendary or laso. I have a friend who played them all on the shitbox and he played on PC with me and he said, of course there are many bugs in MCC that was not in the original games but I don't remember them.

the MCC on PC and play them in chronological order

The MCC is only good for having active multiplayer, which *is* somewhat worth it, but original versions are better for every campaign.

all of the issues the CE port had have been fixed and some campaigns have even been improved. It's nostalgiajerking to believe the OG releases are somehow better

          Nah.
343i is a classless company of ingrates who keep fricking with the original vision.
MCC is only good for the multiplayer.

Yeah, but the xbox versions. The original PC versions suck shit.

Halo 2 and 3s OG versions are hard enough to get your hands on that the difference isn't worth it.
Halo 3s campaign on MCC is 98% as good as the original and it's worth getting 60fps for the very, very few bugs it has.
Halo 2&1 is more debatable but asking someone to find an OG xbox to play it is asking a lot.
The OG PC version of Halo 1 is ass and the MCC version obsoletes it.

Aren't they backwards compatible? Also there's xemu.

Xemu while having made major strides over the past year is still not a playable experience and at that point you are just moronic for recommending it over the MCC versions.
The MCC versions aren't perfect but unfortunately they are the only reasonable option for playing these games in 2022.

Playable on this list literally just means "it boots"
The actual segment you should be looking at is "perfect" which still has shockingly few games on it.

    >CE - 2 - 3
This is the trilogy, they made 2 more games ODST and Reach that are like spin offs so you don't play as John Halo in those but I still like those games. Don't play any Halo game released after Reach.

I guess the only thing to do is to pity the people who believe the MCC could be acceptable.

It's not acceptable but what the frick else are you gonna do?
MS left Halo to die over a decade ago, and screaming at Postums and telling him what a massive fricking Black person him and the rest of 343 are isn't going to fix the game, they still get paid either way.

First I've heard about all this. I have better things to do than care about 343i.
I will tell people to play the original versions if they can though.

Why has CE never been surpassed Halobros?

  7. 2 years ago

MCC. Go Halo CE (Not remastered since the artists fricked with the atmosphere and level geometry), then Halo 2 (Remastered since it looks fricking incredible), Halo ODST (think of it as a demo to Halo 3), then finish the fight on Halo 3. If you're desperate for more, go Reach but the campaign isn't that good. Stay well the frick away from 4,5 and infinite. You finished the fight in 3. That's it. That's the end.
