The whole point is that the campaign is bound to the specific slugcat. At best you can play another additional slugcat in coop.
However, i haven't tried expeditions yet so i don't know what the conditions are there.

I know, I just don't particularly care. Ultimately I play to have fun, and spearguy isn't fun imo. >At best you can play another additional slugcat in coop.
would it be possible to gib spearcat and just continue as artificer that way?

its a bad time however you choose to do it. Specially with a fat frick like gourmand getting tired after every spear throw
i just looked at the wiki for it there is a big crafting grid listing everything
https://rainworld.miraheze.org/wiki/Gourmand if you want to look at it here
Does any food spawn in the memory crypts? Go through and lost all my progress because there's not a single fruit/bat/anything in between the end of Citadel and the shelter at Leg.
Yes and they restore 2 hunger.
As a general rule, you can eat anything smaller than you as Survivor.
You might need to kill some creatures first though.
None, I'm still plugging through my survivor run and I got it into my fat head that I want to get all the colored pearls for moon so now I'm plumbing every area and looking for them.
Finished all of the main campaigns. If the quality of the base-game is 10/10. I'd give the DLC a 7.5
Its good, at times great, but its still just a fricking mod. If Downpour were still a mod I think I'd be way, way more impressed with it. Hell I'd consider it one of the best mods ever made. But as paid DLC? There are certain aspects that simply do not cut it. The "new" creatures are pathetic. Some look so bad I wish they had just cut them out of the DLC entirely. A lot of the new areas look derivative or just look worse than the average region mod you can download for free. Seriously nothing in Downpour comes even close to looking as good as Lush Mire or Aether Ridge. As a whole package Downpour is still very good but it does not even come even near the best moments of the original game. Still though, I don't regret spending 15 bucks for it. I've gotten 50 hours out of it so far and I've still having fun.
Here I go to do my first hunter run. Limit of 20 cycles feels intimidating but I'm determined to push through. To save moon! To reach happy ending! To get the achievement!
I had a good beginning but at sky islands shelter who do I see jumping around? Yes, none other than a snow white little slugpup. At first I thought: no way, I can't get distracted, but moment later instead of spear I was carrying a baby on my back. I took care of little thing, I fed it, I saved it from lizard's jaws twice.
Then few cycles later, as I laid down to hibernate a scavenger sneak into my safe sanctuary just as gates were about to close. I know hunter and scavs aren't on best terms but I thought maybe I'll be able to spit out my starting pearl to make yet another unexpected friend. Game saved. Next cycle began...
And in the first three seconds of the cycle, Scav deemed it necessary to deploy a bomb he was holding, detonating me, my child and himself in the process. Death. Cycle restart and exact same thing happens. In horror I watch as my karma plummets to lowest levels, I watch time and time again as my child is obliterated by an explosive charge, spawn killed, locked in a limbo of no return, hell in which I have to watch my loved one die without chance to stop it.
I had to reset the run
I already played artificer, but now I UNDERSTAND artificer
Completed gourmand, tortured myself with spearmaster for a while and now i am stuck with rivulet in the underwater endgame area. While i enjoy exploring each campaign i got to say, the only good thing about the new regions i explored so far are the visuals.
Level design is bland, regions are confusing mazes with splits that are only meant to waste you time, and the creature selection is often ill chosen for the room they are in.
Vanilla is not perfect, but it is consistent in it’s design choices and follows a few but clear principles:
- Regions must be linear, no mazes, no dead ends, if a path splits off the main route it provides some sort of point of interest, an alternate route or a connection to another region.
- Each region’s layout follows a consistent theme and provides an adequate challenge for the player (ex: the wall - scaling a massive vertical wall)
- Predators should complement the room layout (ex: no green lizards in vertical rooms)
I lost count of how often i lost my way with spearmaster while trying to scale moon, i don’t understand what the purpose of stuffing yellow lizards in struts, vents AND luna is, why have mother spiders in struts and vents if all they do is run away or fall to their death, why do vents go so far east if you can go through the much easier inner lttm halfway through the subregion? Why do they let you enter moon’s outer chamber but tell you to frick off and find another way from the top, where you could get misdirected into memory conflux instead.
Why are all of rivulet’s new regions full of linear easy to traverse layouts, but with rooms connected like a fricking maze? Again, why are there so many yellow lizards, why are there centiwings in areas where they can barely fly like in the lower parts of chimney. The only enemy that can pose a threat to you is the aquapede which only appears in the final area, nothing else can catch up.
Why is Outer Expanse so convoluted? I was genuinely lost for two hours.
I think i will try arti before finishing rivulet and spearmaster, i just can’t take another hour of having to deal with bullshit enemy spawns or convoluted mazes, i will take a spear in the face from off screen if that’s what it takes to have a decent platforming experience.
need some saint help where the FRICK is the echo in 5P/ shaded citadel
I climbed up and down all over the damn place and could not find it. it's not in the place where it would be on The Wall.
do i need to find every other echoe first?
drainage and chimney canopy
entrance to chimney is hidden
the room with the shelter about midway through chimney with the garbage worms in it and the pipe going straight up? the room immediately to the left of it has three unmarked pipes right when you get out, it's the first one on the left
why is the dlc content presented like it's just mods you activate in game? i know the origins of the content but it's so weird and inelegant to me. would the fans that started those expansions really have felt slighted if it was rolled into the actual game itself? idk i find it weird and makes the game feel less beautiful to me but i know i care more about stuff like that than most people.
Nah i feel the same way. Makes no sense to me. Its good as the new mod interface but putting "official" content like MSC, coop, and Remix in there makes it feel less official that how they have presented the content as being so far. All they had to do was have that shit pre-activated. Also labeling the mod interface option in the main menu as "Remix" makes no fricking sense. Like isn't Remix just the specific mod with QoL features? Just label it as "Mods" in the main menu nobody would have given a shit and it would have made actual sense.
I guess it's more elegant from a game engine point of view, fewer special cases. I don't really mind, Bethesda expansions worked in a similar way since at least Morrowind.
I guess to me it's just because I felt the base game was such a holistically beautiful package, and now I feel like it's kind of a jank awkward package, and to me that's a bummer. I also hate when rereleases and expansions (this one included) replace the title screen with a title screen with some new subtitle. I'm playing Rain World show me the logo for Rain World you cowards (again I realize few care about this as much as me)
Yeah you've lost me.
I love Rain World because it's the most beautiful and amazing experience I've had in a game but it also has a score attack and a jank competitive multiplayer arena mode. The fact that it can support that just shows how much of a real game it is, beyond the 2deep4u stuff that made me fall in love with it.
What are you even talking about? The "plot" was my experience of the game and the path I took through it. The "depth" is all of the thematic scaffolding of what it all means and the ideas it got me thinking about.
I don't think there's anything wrong with those modes being added, I just dislike that it's through a mod list when it's actual bought expansion content.
I also dislike that when I boot up the game I get a Downpour logo instead of the base Rain World logo forever now, but that's a different point. I hate it in remasters and stuff too, seeing a big ugly subtitle under the game's actual logo. To me it displays a lack of artistic integrity. (which again I acknowledge very few people care about in games)
i don't think that's what anon meant and also idk if b-lining is the best recommendation for a first playthrough (not to mention the Thing they have to do at the top of the wall if they go that route)
eh, i'm still not sure it's altogether advisable to care about that for a first playthrough. even if you do follow the overseer's path, as long as you aren't a total savage, then the potential error is recoverable
I think it was interesting in concept, but I wish they made the ancient blockheads do more then just stand still or made the whole area just 20% shorter.
The final FP + Moon talk followed by trying to escape the void was kino though
shut the frick up you mouthbreathing gorilla Black person
you didnt understand jack shit, the void is not evil and nothing points at this, you just are too braindead to understand
>gourmand that low
His exhaustion is really annoying, but his fat ass slam, heavy headbutt and long roll make up for it.
It's also fun to follow the food quest
I like him as a character and the food quest is nice, but I just found his campaign pretty underwhelming compared to the other ones I rated higher. I don't really like Outer Expanse that much either. Still enjoyed it but it was like a low 7/10 for me.
How many of the new regions are accesible by Survivor? I thought they would all locked off but I wandered into Pipeyard and thought I somehow missed that region this whole time.
This DLC fricked with my save, Dragon Slayer is bugged and I can't get it now because it completed itself and didn't give me the achievement, and now I can't passage back to shelters i've already been to and my map is seemingly wiped.
Yes Black person, I know what Buddhism is, there's nothing in any of the scriptures about bodhisattvas being punished with eternal time loops.

Really because Krishna talks about seeing all time at once and there's nothing in the Mahabharata that isn't attested to in at least one Veda.
>has to appeal to entirely different religious system to make sense of le grand conclusion to the rain world saga
Vanilla rain world's conclusion was pure and beautiful: you are trapped in a cycle of suffering, so ascend. A buddhic prey animal is a compelling concept that hasn't been done anywhere; even claiming vegetables possessed buddha-nature was controversial in old Japan.
Now it's... le void was ebil, le void worms are ebil, dude loops lmao
>le void was ebil, le void worms are ebil, dude loops lmao
Holy frick you are one dumb ass Black person if you think thats what downpour is saying. The whole point of Saint is that its a happy ending because all living creatures including iterators can eventually go to the void instead of being doomed to perpetual existence.

It's just so muddled. Why do we need timelines and past selves and future selves? Why couldn't have they settled for a straightforward global ascension ending? The Saint and all suffering creatures 'ascending' (descending) into liberation. Now we got this looper bullshit

cool bait made me reply thanks for the free bumps now please have a nice day its okay youll just loop back trust me bro
Nothing says he has to repeat his journey or that there's a timeloop, it just shows his future ascended self appearing to himself in the past at the beginning of his one single journey.

... Why? Why are suddenly past selves a factor in anything?
Anonymous
why do you even bother if you just insist on seeing it as some timeline bullshit in your own mind in this scenario youve made up yourself in your head
1. Achieved max karma, which was the only goal the saint had knowledge of from the beginning of its journey
2. Upon achieving max karma saint receives ability to ascend other beings
3. When ascending himself, saint chooses instead to essentially communicate to the void worms its plan, which is to ascend every living creature itself
4. Resets the timeline to the very start, where it can now begin with the knowledge of the true purpose of its journey, to ascend all creatures
5. The Saint goes on to become the solution the iterators were yearning for, the means by which all iterators and all living beings no matter how insignificant may ascend
I brought this up in another thread which had an anonymous buddha guru detail the finer points, but I believe the key to understanding lies with the golden slugcat that appears in shelters and saint's ending I don't think it's a time loop but instead an 'omniscience' that allows the saint to pass on the steps to ascension through visions within the cycle but not limited to linear time (as guru anonymous said), which happens to also include his past self. If you noticed at the end when the golden slugcat appears it's also when at the start of the campaign that he receives a vision to ascend.

i don't know if i got the entire sequence but golden slugcat also appears for artificer, showing her basically her kids getting killed and her beginning the revengeance quest
was there more to that? i would have imagined something along the lines of a vision going >hey maybe scav genocide isn't the right way to go
if that were true
interesting theory at least
Yeah, buddha anon also said it was for other slugcats too (I thought it was just monk, same premise) but I did not see that one during my playthrough.
Something like that could go onto hinduism with my surface level understanding of there being a path to enlightenment through violence, ie stabbing a serpent or the sun with a dagger? I have no idea why the saint would advocate for violence in a mostly buddhist setting where even an echo unique to artificer tells them to stop their path of violence. Which I didn't because stopping scav genocide is not based.

you mean this thread right
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/625886153
>stopping scav genocide is not based
incorrect
letting go and ascending past base impulses is the essential part of the game no matter how much fun genocide might be
based, FRICK scavs yes it was only 11-12 scavs but it was a clown car tier kill squad and they all filtered themselves into a pipe like dumbasses, they deserved EVERY spear they got
I just started, lost already on the second cycle, and this kills my interest in the game. You really give me a room like this where you have to use the blue bugs to fly up to the top, and theres nothing there? Why am I supposed to give a shit about exploration when its not rewarded?
You're not, disregard that anon.
However, you shouldn't be this game expecting to be rewarded for every little effort, the maps are full of screen that serve no purpose other than giving a sense of space to the region, or for visual storytelling. It's not a world made for you.
go up until you cant go up anymore then go right or go right until you cant go right anymore then go up
if at some point you end in a dead end where you cant go right then you didnt go up enough so go left then up
bros, it's all so muddled...
can't believe these alphabets ruined the game with their timeloop and ebil void fanfiction...
americans really do ruin everything
Yes. Americans don't read and don't have a subtle bone in their body. I've seen it argued that the void is a 'parasite' and, you guessed it, ebil. It's just the same fricking 5-7 tropes spinning round and round in their heads until they die
not any of those Anons, but you can't deny, reading past threads, that some people seem to praise the new writing because it goes against the original 'suicide cult propaganda'
>but you can't deny, reading past threads, that some people seem to praise the new writing because it goes against the original 'suicide cult propaganda'
show me an example in this thread
new slugcats should have had self-contained stories that didn't impact anything else and VC should have whipped modders harder to not frick with anything they didn't scrutinize
I have yet to encounter to big jellies but they kinda remind me of waterborne daddy long legs, except instead of consuming you, they give you the electrical shock therepy treatment
i'm surprised i haven't seen the theory that void worms themselves are boddhisvatas, remaining in the sea to guide whoever comes by to the depths where they need to go
hence why one helps drag survivor down to the rest of his fellows, and why it ignores artificer since she doesn't properly have enough karma at this point, i.e. isn't "ready"
or maybe that's old news and i'm just out of the loop
I always imagined that void worms were whatever happens when enough people coalesced after swimming into the light.
That big ball of light looks just like the one on their head.
>Exploring Submerged Superstructure as Survivor
Fricking "brilliant" design, guess direction right or drown. After hundred deaths made it to upper non-flooded rooms only to find that they loop back into earlier sections. Found a colored pearl tho.
Give it to me straight, is there another gate anythere or should I just passage out.
>how are you exploring a rivulet area as survivor
Back in shoreline I grabbed a jetfish to go deep and eventually reached a gate that leads into SS. In there it's sorta possible to traverse Vents area with a jetfish if you know exactly which rooms have air (this took many deaths).
Eventually I reached something that's undoubtedly Moon Memory Conflux. I was sorta hoping to find another gate back into LttM but so far found squat.
Also, not everything is reachable for Survivor, there's HUEG fully flooded corridor that's impossible to survive, jetfish or bubbleweed won't help
>also why
Dunno, whoever made this region didn't think to lock it for Survivor. So here we are.
Once again, is there other gate(s) out of SS? Or should I use a passage.
passage the frick out, you should NOT be here or you'll make drainage systems deaths by drowning look like a fricking joke
it's hard enough as rivulet and you can hold your breath about 10x longer
>I find it the most non-Rain world of the new slugcats
Thats why I love it. It feels like something truly new. It focused on a gameplay element (scav combat) that worked well in the base game and exploited it fully. Its the only campaign that I think actually fully explored its main idea successfully. The story of Arti's pups is minimal but an effective way to make me care about arti in a way I didn't really care about most of the other DLC slugs. Scav combat on its own fully compliments Arti's abilities. Metropolis is gorgeous and the only new region that felt truly unique to me. I also think its design fully took advantage of arti's movement and the scav combat just added to that. Loved the whole campaign from start to finish. Also love that you get the choice between vengeance and forgoing it, and that both routes felt justified and well executed. Also love how its a campaign where the plot is also completely separated from the goings ons of Moon and Pebbles. Arti simply uses Pebbles to gain access to more scavs to kill.
rivulet's 5p is actually just horrific. cool premise but the most shit of areas. plus the overseer doesn't guide you for SHIT
>get the funny orb >passage the frick out of there first shelter i see >it dosent come with me
really should have thought that through more but im not letting this turn into another gourmand run ie longer than frick so im just going to try and spawn one in
The orb should come with you. There's a setting to make the orb come with you. The setting should be on by default.
If spawning doesn't work, you can also just https://github.com/LeeMoriya/Warp
lmao. i turned on the remix option to passage important items during spearmaster's campaign because frick off with that shit. didn't even realize my passage wouldn't have worked if i didn't keep that on

wait should i be turning this on before i do downpour? sounded needless when i looked at remix but idk if new slugs really benefit
aright whoever decided not to just say the fricking region names and instead put these inaccurate abbreviations is a homosexual
also its putting me in just regular old drainage systems with a normal rain timer and i think if i start walking it will take me through survivors campaign as the rivulet
You have the orb now, so you're good. The regular rain timer is a side effect of taking out the orb.

yeah the rain also doesn't kill you now that you have the orb right?
Also I fricking hate that the menu says rivulet can breath underwater but in reality they just have a really long breath meter.

Nope, rain still kills you, cycles are just longer. It's the pre-cycle (shelter failure) rain that I'm pretty sure can't kill you.

man the new content in Downpour is kinda underwhelming when you look at it. The "new" regions are mostly just reskins kinda like the "new" creatures. 10 "new" regions were advertised and half of them are just different variations of Five Pebbles, a shoreline reskin and a drainage system reskin, oh and rubicon is literally just a bunch of old rooms spliced together so there is that as well.
you bet your fricking ass i'm gonna passage from 5p to moon as rivulet. why the hell would i wanna carry this thing all through chimney -> industrial -> garbage -> shoreline
i really don't get why more areas weren't flooded in Riv's campaign. Like Outskirts should be half underwater imo. I think this is the only time I've ever felt a campaign needed MORE underwater sections.
There's a pipe with a long vertical drop. It's the first exit you encounter when going west from LTTM. Drop down to the bottom there and then go east - that'll lead you to where you want to go.
where the hell are people encountering all these new creatures? giant jellyfish, the ceiling things, the couple new lizards, firebugs i haven't seen any of them over any campaign. i'm about to start saint. the only one i've seen is the water pede
Firebugs are Saint-specific, giant jellyfish can be found in water areas (I saw a bunch of them as Rivulet), dropwigs are the bane of my existence and also pretty easy to kill as Spearmaster, not sure about the rest.
by ceiling things i didn't mean dropwigs, i meant those things that hang on the ceiling and have tentacles and gaping mouths. as for the jellyfish, where did you see them? i didn't see any of them in shoreline as rivulet which is where i would've thought they'd be
Oh, those things - haven't seen those either, then. I saw the giant jellyfish in a bunch of places in Submerged Superstructure - at least three or four of them, I think.
I've been in metropolis for a while. I'm not sure what I am supposed to be doing. Do I just have to kill all the boss scavengers in the various main bases?
>spears disconnect after throwing making it more annoying than necessary to feed to full >forced to carry pearls through most of the campaign >no interesting movement tech unlike pretty much every other slugcat, controls literally just a regular slugcat with infinite spears >campaign map is just artificers without any interest weather changes or alterations to make it stand out >new region is just yet another superstructure
its just underwhelming as frick.
There's a mod to fix the first issue.

If you set co-op to easy. then only one slug cat needs to survive and get to a shelter.

Also, what now? Pebbles told me to go to some location, but i couldn't find the entrance yet, anyone with some indirect hint?

Its good, at times great, but its still just a fricking mod. If Downpour were still a mod I think I'd be way, way more impressed with it. Hell I'd consider it one of the best mods ever made. But as paid DLC? There are certain aspects that simply do not cut it. The "new" creatures are pathetic. Some look so bad I wish they had just cut them out of the DLC entirely. As a whole package Downpour is still very good but it does not even come even near the best moments of the original game. Still though, I don't regret spending 15 bucks for it. I've gotten 50 hours out of it so far and I've still having fun.

Did Aim Anywhere get updated for Remix?
With artificer at the scavenger chief, giving me a hard time I'm not sure whats the best strat for him
That fight is such horseshit. Just chuck all the spears to the left so he can't grab anything and then bomb him.
I already played artificer, but now I UNDERSTAND artificer
anything else i need to eat as the gourmand or can i finally passage back to outer expanse and finish this?
finished
fat fricking piece of shit finally put to rest
still loitering around metropolis
Only new region I think is genuinely well put together is Metropolis
I think i will try arti before finishing rivulet and spearmaster, i just can’t take another hour of having to deal with bullshit enemy spawns or convoluted mazes, i will take a spear in the face from off screen if that’s what it takes to have a decent platforming experience.
>saint killing everybody? GOOD
>artificer killing scavs? BAD
racist
This area as spearmaster
Still waiting for the campaign to be bad, im having a blast.
Yeah, Spearmaster is kino, it's a real ride and having unlimited spears is great.
Im working on artificer but I'm stuck in Chimney canopy trying to get to the wall. So many fricking scavs and white lizards
I didn't have that problem because I went through the underhang, which was a terrible idea
need some saint help
where the FRICK is the echo in 5P/ shaded citadel
I climbed up and down all over the damn place and could not find it. it's not in the place where it would be on The Wall.
do i need to find every other echoe first?
Go right from the bottom of silent superstructure
You know that shelter to the right, just before the Leg turns into Underhang? It's around there (in Saint's version of that area, that is).

why is the dlc content presented like it's just mods you activate in game? i know the origins of the content but it's so weird and inelegant to me. would the fans that started those expansions really have felt slighted if it was rolled into the actual game itself? idk i find it weird and makes the game feel less beautiful to me but i know i care more about stuff like that than most people.
Probably because that was how it worked when it was just a mod, and they never bothered to change it.
Just label it as "Mods" in the main menu nobody would have given a shit and it would have made actual sense.
rimworld works the same
its just easier, makes it more compatible with mods and also modular
The absence of an explation does not equate depth. Your mind is filling in the vacant spot where a plot should be.
What are you even talking about? The "plot" was my experience of the game and the path I took through it. The "depth" is all of the thematic scaffolding of what it all means and the ideas it got me thinking about.
way to completely miss the point
moron
I don't think there's anything wrong with those modes being added, I just dislike that it's through a mod list when it's actual bought expansion content.
I also dislike that when I boot up the game I get a Downpour logo instead of the base Rain World logo forever now, but that's a different point. I hate it in remasters and stuff too, seeing a big ugly subtitle under the game's actual logo. To me it displays a lack of artistic integrity. (which again I acknowledge very few people care about in games)
What's the proper way to play this? I don't want to accidentally make it casual mode or dogshit "use a FAQ" mode for my first playthrough.
Easiest way would be to roll back to version 1.51 and play Survivor. Otherwise you'll have to make judgment calls with the QoL options
You can just disable remix, can't you?
survivor
go Outskirts > Industrial Complex > Chimney Canopy > The Wall
i don't think that's what anon meant and also idk if b-lining is the best recommendation for a first playthrough (not to mention the Thing they have to do at the top of the wall if they go that route)
speeding to that point avoids missing on stuff because of what you get there
after that you can just explore
eh, i'm still not sure it's altogether advisable to care about that for a first playthrough. even if you do follow the overseer's path, as long as you aren't a total savage, then the potential error is recoverable
how do you feel about rubicon being the finale area of the rain world saga
kinda meh but at least it looked cool
I think it was interesting in concept, but I wish they made the ancient blockheads do more then just stand still or made the whole area just 20% shorter.
The final FP + Moon talk followed by trying to escape the void was kino though
it makes sense, they dont attack max karma, it goes agains their programming or nature as guardians or whatever
okay Black folk heres my kino af saint intrepretation are you ready strap in
The Saint IS the player
think about it
No.
oh yeah well like thats just your opinion man
the saint's campaign is a delusion and not real because otherwise it's really stupid fanfiction
you are either baiting or just really really moronic
we've had this argument enough times
It's a lame conclusion to the saga, modders can't tell compelling stories so they have to resort to jrpg bullshit like 'the void is ebil'
shut the frick up you mouthbreathing gorilla Black person
you didnt understand jack shit, the void is not evil and nothing points at this, you just are too braindead to understand
idk feels like the saint was just trying to rubicon the void worm as well
midwit
Don't larp like you're a Buddhist scholar, it was a muddled story written by midwit furries and you know it.
i still havent played downpour
can someone who has rank the new campaigns? just curious
also should i care about unlocking them sequentially? did you?
Artificer > Saint > Rivulet >> Gourmand >>> Spearmaster
>gourmand that low
His exhaustion is really annoying, but his fat ass slam, heavy headbutt and long roll make up for it.
It's also fun to follow the food quest
I like him as a character and the food quest is nice, but I just found his campaign pretty underwhelming compared to the other ones I rated higher. I don't really like Outer Expanse that much either. Still enjoyed it but it was like a low 7/10 for me.
How many of the new regions are accesible by Survivor? I thought they would all locked off but I wandered into Pipeyard and thought I somehow missed that region this whole time.
3. 1 of them is only unlocked after finishing Gourmand.
Pipeyard, Gutter, Outer Expanse
Is there any reason to ascend normally or take the outside path with the other slugs?
Finished Rivulet, Spearmaster and Artificer. Gave up on Gourmand as he is boring. Just started Saint. Interesting so far!
This DLC fricked with my save, Dragon Slayer is bugged and I can't get it now because it completed itself and didn't give me the achievement, and now I can't passage back to shelters i've already been to and my map is seemingly wiped.
Slugcat was pulling the strings all along!
Can you bring slugpups to Moon or Pebbles? Do they have any dialogue about it? If you or the babies die do they respawn in the shelter?
...Can you feed them to lizards to befriend them?
pebbles has slightly changed dialogue but don't expect much
I still don't get Saint.
apratiṣṭhita bodhisattva
Yes Black person, I know what Buddhism is, there's nothing in any of the scriptures about bodhisattvas being punished with eternal time loops.
Explain what happened then.
>punished with eternal time loops.
Black person, don't pretend like you're some lore scholar, I was playing vanilla RW in 2018 while you were still jizzing over WoW classic or whatever gay nerd shit we were supposed to care about then.
Time loops are gay and in this entertainment culture, it's always the mark of an inferior writer
cool bait made me reply thanks for the free bumps now please have a nice day its okay youll just loop back trust me bro
>time loop
neuron count in the single digits
>uuuh dude he just has to repeat his journey because... uh.... ummmm.... uhhh...
Ad hoc rationalization after ad hoc rationalization
Nothing says he has to repeat his journey or that there's a timeloop, it just shows his future ascended self appearing to himself in the past at the beginning of his one single journey.
... Why? Why are suddenly past selves a factor in anything?
why do you even bother if you just insist on seeing it as some timeline bullshit in your own mind in this scenario youve made up yourself in your head
5. The Saint goes on to become the solution the iterators were yearning for, the means by which all iterators and all living beings no matter how insignificant may ascend
this
i dont get it how is this so hard to understand
>a solution has been found
check
>a technical implementation is possible
check
>the solution is portable
is saint portable?
He ports himself around.
I brought this up in another thread which had an anonymous buddha guru detail the finer points, but I believe the key to understanding lies with the golden slugcat that appears in shelters and saint's ending
I don't think it's a time loop but instead an 'omniscience' that allows the saint to pass on the steps to ascension through visions within the cycle but not limited to linear time (as guru anonymous said), which happens to also include his past self.
If you noticed at the end when the golden slugcat appears it's also when at the start of the campaign that he receives a vision to ascend.
It's just so muddled. Why do we need timelines and past selves and future selves? Why couldn't have they settled for a straightforward global ascension ending? The Saint and all suffering creatures 'ascending' (descending) into liberation. Now we got this looper bullshit
i don't know if i got the entire sequence but golden slugcat also appears for artificer, showing her basically her kids getting killed and her beginning the revengeance quest
was there more to that? i would have imagined something along the lines of a vision going
>hey maybe scav genocide isn't the right way to go
if that were true
interesting theory at least
Yeah, buddha anon also said it was for other slugcats too (I thought it was just monk, same premise) but I did not see that one during my playthrough.
Something like that could go onto hinduism with my surface level understanding of there being a path to enlightenment through violence, ie stabbing a serpent or the sun with a dagger? I have no idea why the saint would advocate for violence in a mostly buddhist setting where even an echo unique to artificer tells them to stop their path of violence. Which I didn't because stopping scav genocide is not based.
you mean this thread right
https://arch.b4k.co/v/thread/625886153
yeah that one yesterday
>stopping scav genocide is not based
incorrect
letting go and ascending past base impulses is the essential part of the game no matter how much fun genocide might be
Being an animal is based... in reality.
Yeah I know, but I also really like that they added result pictures than little ascended slug ghosts.
based, FRICK scavs
yes it was only 11-12 scavs but it was a clown car tier kill squad and they all filtered themselves into a pipe like dumbasses, they deserved EVERY spear they got
kek
Oh wow, it's different dialogue from dying to the left instead.
I just started, lost already on the second cycle, and this kills my interest in the game. You really give me a room like this where you have to use the blue bugs to fly up to the top, and theres nothing there? Why am I supposed to give a shit about exploration when its not rewarded?
homie thats towards the endgame area you gotta go back then up
>the endgame is the closest savepoint to the start
>you are not supposed to go that way
>im somehow supposed to know this
You're not, disregard that anon.
However, you shouldn't be this game expecting to be rewarded for every little effort, the maps are full of screen that serve no purpose other than giving a sense of space to the region, or for visual storytelling. It's not a world made for you.
what do you mean you lost? you died? its a game where you should expect to die a good amount
I meant lost geographically
go up until you cant go up anymore then go right or go right until you cant go right anymore then go up
if at some point you end in a dead end where you cant go right then you didnt go up enough so go left then up
Reminder that this is canon
what is? your autism?
The Videocult twitter posted that shit. Don't shoot at me
bros, it's all so muddled...
can't believe these alphabets ruined the game with their timeloop and ebil void fanfiction...
americans really do ruin everything
can you at least change up your vocab you absolute homosexual
Yes. Americans don't read and don't have a subtle bone in their body. I've seen it argued that the void is a 'parasite' and, you guessed it, ebil. It's just the same fricking 5-7 tropes spinning round and round in their heads until they die
stop samegayging
or if youre not, stop being moronic and replying to bait
>"stop replying to bait"
>replies to bait
not any of those Anons, but you can't deny, reading past threads, that some people seem to praise the new writing because it goes against the original 'suicide cult propaganda'
>but you can't deny, reading past threads, that some people seem to praise the new writing because it goes against the original 'suicide cult propaganda'
show me an example in this thread
shut up you midwit homosexual moron, I will defend the narrative integrity of the games I love from shitwits like you
t. modder troony
DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS
OBVIOUS BAIT IS OBVIOUS
saint's ending is actually an analogy for moving to ohio
new slugcats should have had self-contained stories that didn't impact anything else and VC should have whipped modders harder to not frick with anything they didn't scrutinize
How do you know that's not what happened?
jesus christ how horrifying
I have yet to encounter to big jellies but they kinda remind me of waterborne daddy long legs, except instead of consuming you, they give you the electrical shock therepy treatment
i'm surprised i haven't seen the theory that void worms themselves are boddhisvatas, remaining in the sea to guide whoever comes by to the depths where they need to go
hence why one helps drag survivor down to the rest of his fellows, and why it ignores artificer since she doesn't properly have enough karma at this point, i.e. isn't "ready"
or maybe that's old news and i'm just out of the loop
The Void Worms are properly buddha-like beings because they don't elect to stay behind in the world to ferry others to the void
I always imagined that void worms were whatever happens when enough people coalesced after swimming into the light.
That big ball of light looks just like the one on their head.
With so much lore and love for this game coupled with brand new DLC, where does a newcomer start? How long do I play main game before doing DLC?
each dlc cat is its own campaign. play the whole survivor campaign first (white slugcat), then it's up to you which you want to do.
oh wow, how long are they compared to slugcat?
Sounds based.
All shorter because you know your way around better, but still it adds a sizeable amount of content.
jesus christ how beautiful. is rivulet's pearly important besides getting some lore out of moon?
That's the only importance of it although the lore does hint at at how to complete an objective of yours - it's not like spearmaster's pearl.
>Exploring Submerged Superstructure as Survivor
Fricking "brilliant" design, guess direction right or drown. After hundred deaths made it to upper non-flooded rooms only to find that they loop back into earlier sections. Found a colored pearl tho.
Give it to me straight, is there another gate anythere or should I just passage out.
huh
how are you exploring a rivulet area as survivor also why
>how are you exploring a rivulet area as survivor
Damn dude i assumed theyd have blocked it off. Warp the frick out of there.
I think it's pretty cool they didn't personally.
i guess they figured if you can make it this far you either know what you're doing and what you're getting into, or you just really like drowning
You can only leave through the same gate you used to get in
>You can only leave through the same gate you used to get in
Thank you, passage it is then. Better be some amazing lore on that pearl.
Passage out: the only other gate out isn't accessible as survivor.
(Rivulet Spoilers) It's beyond that huge flooded corridor.
anon im pretty sure going there without riv is easter egg territory how the frick did you manage to do it
That's not usually an area you're supposed to explore as Survivor, anon.
how the frick did you even get there unless you brought like triple handfuls of bubbleweed + jetfish shenanigans
explain yourself
artificer is peak rain world
Is it?
I find it the most non-Rain world of the new slugcats, it's fun but its existence is hard to justify.
Arti simply uses Pebbles to gain access to more scavs to kill.
he called me stupid
hey thanks, i feel better, i wasn't the only one
does anyone have a map of rivulant's five pebbles?
Found one. It's in russian, but you shouldn't really need the text, right?
rivulet's 5p is actually just horrific. cool premise but the most shit of areas. plus the overseer doesn't guide you for SHIT
>get the funny orb
>passage the frick out of there first shelter i see
>it dosent come with me
really should have thought that through more but im not letting this turn into another gourmand run ie longer than frick so im just going to try and spawn one in
The orb should come with you. There's a setting to make the orb come with you. The setting should be on by default.
If spawning doesn't work, you can also just https://github.com/LeeMoriya/Warp
i saw that setting like 2 weeks ago and thought "nah i wont really need it im sure" and turned it off
wait should i be turning this on before i do downpour? sounded needless when i looked at remix but idk if new slugs really benefit
unless you wanna go through immense annoyance with two of the slugcats then yes, turn it on. you'll know when you wanna use it
ok will do thanks for the tip!
no thank YOU for the tip b***h
aright whoever decided not to just say the fricking region names and instead put these inaccurate abbreviations is a homosexual
also its putting me in just regular old drainage systems with a normal rain timer and i think if i start walking it will take me through survivors campaign as the rivulet
MS = submerged superstructure
OE = gourmand autism
HR = rubicon
LM = spearmaster's autism fortress (moon)
DM = waterfront facility
LC = metropolis
RM = rivulet rotted pebbles
CL = silent construct
UG = undergrowth
Vs = pipeyard
almost none of those make any sense wtf

Replace 1 with t.
Thank you
i unironically prefer the old names
is pic related in the game during the dating sim?
No, just a Ganker shitpost. I believe there were some spicy parts in the dating sim that the publisher retconned, though.
wow thats fricking stupid
also i just force restarted and warped back to the ball just to see what would happen if you did not talk to 5P before nabbing it and he actually has some unique dialogue
lmao. i turned on the remix option to passage important items during spearmaster's campaign because frick off with that shit. didn't even realize my passage wouldn't have worked if i didn't keep that on
if you go to ss as someone before rivulet you can make moon very happy 🙂
sex scene confirmed??
man the new content in Downpour is kinda underwhelming when you look at it.
I think this is the only time I've ever felt a campaign needed MORE underwater sections.
the shelter failures make up for that imo. they really add a lot
Yeah, that definitely would've been fun. Especially since underwater areas are far less troublesome for Rivulet than any other character.
favorite DLC campaign?
https://strawpoll.com/polls/61gDmBDBAZw
anyone know where to go to access moon's insides on rivulet?
I am about to annoy one very specific, very stupid anon.
oh cool he holds it in the title menu
do i need a karma flower to talk to the echo in shaded as artificer
trying to ascend
Yeah.
frick. is there a flower in shaded?
I've been in metropolis for a while. I'm not sure what I am supposed to be doing. Do I just have to kill all the boss scavengers in the various main bases?
theres one particular scav you are looking for. Its pretty obvious when you find his lair.
the guy sitting on top of a small tower who has his own drone?
...? so you found him and just didn't bother killing him?
he seemed like a nice enough guy
bloodlust is clearly not for you anon go ascend
dlc?
alright Black folk
how do we fix spearmaster?
i havent played him yet whats wrong with him?
>spears disconnect after throwing making it more annoying than necessary to feed to full
>forced to carry pearls through most of the campaign
>no interesting movement tech unlike pretty much every other slugcat, controls literally just a regular slugcat with infinite spears
>campaign map is just artificers without any interest weather changes or alterations to make it stand out
>new region is just yet another superstructure
its just underwhelming as frick.
There's a mod to fix the first issue.
