good but another really basic conversion like future Volcarona
I think I might be in the minority here but I vastly prefer Scarlet’s paradox Pokémon. Feels like they could’ve done more with Violet’s. Still a really good selection though, I’m happy they brought back the Ultra Beasts idea without just making more of them.
I think I prefer Scarlet’s group because I see most of the redesigns as straight upgrades over the originals while Violet’s group tends to be of very slightly higher quality as the originals, if not worse in a few cases.
>Scarlet’s group because I see most of the redesigns as straight upgrades
Which is both and an advantage and disadvantage. They can be better X (which I think is more often the case), or worse/barely different X. Violet is like mecha pokemon fanart, you see it and go oh neat but comes off as kinda uninspired.
I think I would like the Violet ones more if they took more risks with them. I’m hoping there’s more to them in motion, I like that Gardelade, Delibird, and Donphan took some risks even if I’m not a fan of Donphan. I really wish they’d done more with Hydriegon, it’s the only one that feels like a straight up pale imitation of the original.

P. Donphan. Pretty good, brutal looking mon without too much edge. 8/10
P. Volcarona. Awesome, cute and cool balanced perfectly. 10/10
P. Amoonguss. Nothing to say here, i didn't like original design, and this didn't improve it. 1/10
P. Jigglypuff. Looks like a downgrade to me. 4/10
P. Misdreavus. Sylveon fricked her mom it seems. Not bad looking, but nothing interesting. 5/10
P. Magneton. No score, i need to see it in movement first.
P. Salamence. Solid and a big improvement over original design. 9/10
Koraidon. Kinda boring. 4/10
F. Donphan. Looks cool, although the camera angle might be hiding something. 7/10
F. Volcarona. Kinda leeches from other games too much, really non-pokemon design. 4/10
F. Gallade. Fusing gallade and gardevoir was a really lazy way to go about new design. 4/10
F. Hariyama. Pretty cool, but kind of alien to pokemon. 6/10
F. Delibird. A meme shit. Frick it. 1/10
F. Hydreigon. I don't like the way it's changes went. 6/10
F. Tyranitar. Not the worst but original is so much better. 6/10
Miraidon. Kinda boring. 4/10
A lot of the future mons are probably gonna look 10x better in motion so im not gonna rate, but every single one of them looks cool. Are all the past forms only in scarlet/future forms only in voilet?
They both dropped the ball in my opinion. I've been rightfully shitting way more on Violet because I think completely ignoring any sort of speculative evolution is a huge missed opportunity but Scarlet could have done better too. I would have loved to see a terrestrial Wailord or a dino-Blaziken but instead we got "X, but primal." The past forms end up slightly less milquetoast but that's probably because they could do more with them given the theme.
You can tell the a lot of the problems arise because they were trying to play it safe and skirt around actual evolution beyond some brief implications. They probably didn't want to piss off religious people any more than they already have.
Idk, even now, I already prefer them over the primal forms.
Although that might be because I overall prefer the base pokemon that have gotten future forms.
I get that, part of it is prolly because my favorite base design out of the Violet bunch (Hydriegon) kinda disappointed me, I still think Violet’s lineup is still really solid all things considered and has more heavy hitters. I think I was just more pleasantly surprised with Scarlet’s lineup because even the ones I wasn’t really looking forward to (Jigglypuff, Amoonguss) ended up being pretty enjoyable. The group has an underdog feel to it that I enjoy compared to Violet’s more all-star cast.
>Donphan, volcarona, jigglypuff, misdreavus, the legendary and I bet suicune looks sick
vs >Volcarona again, Gardevoir, TTar, the legendary
scarlet has cooler designs but tyranitar is my favorite mon so I'll download violet
You really think they "couldn't think of anything else"? It couldn't just be that they wanted a consistent theme to make violet forms more distinct/recognizable?
Violet designs are creatively bankrupt for the most part, over half of them are just straight up robotic versions of a pokemon with 0 twists. When Hariyama is one of your better Paradox designs despite there being a fricking Tyranitar in your roster you know you did something wrong.
too lazy to rate, do it yourself
Robo-Deli looks sick. Don't really care particularly for the others
no need, i'm gonna frick all of them

Feel like the overall opinion is Scarlet has higher highs, while Violet is more consistently okay largely from more popular base designs
I think I prefer Scarlet’s group because I see most of the redesigns as straight upgrades over the originals while Violet’s group tends to be of very slightly higher quality as the originals, if not worse in a few cases.

Violet is decent but kinda boring because they're mostly robots. Scarlet is dogshit except for like salamence and even then it looks mid.
shit taste
Why the frick are like half the past form not in their final stages?
Their evolutions were discovered in the future
Past ones are cool, future ones look pretty generic.

Incineroar went from an absolute clown to one of the best, most expressive pokemon in the series.
>still referred to one of the shittiest starter design ever
People started pretend to like him just because he was so powerful in meta.
Literally everyone loves incineroar outside of /vp/eddit
Yeah sure, because clearly no one here ever visit any other websites and won't laugh at your ridiculous claims.
Exactly.
Not that anon but absolutely, a lot of Pokémon from gens 6-9 have absolutely looked better in motion.

They both dropped the ball in my opinion. I've been rightfully shitting way more on Violet because I think completely ignoring any sort of speculative evolution is a huge missed opportunity but Scarlet could have done better too. I can't wait to see the I can't wait to see the robots moving.
Hope they have some cool animations.
I really hope they sell me on the future designs more, there isn’t enough to make each of them stand out right now imo.
Idk, even now, I already prefer them over the primal forms.

Jigglypuff is more popular than a lot of the pokemon in the Violet list solely because of the anime and smash.

>HURR DURR ITS FROM LE FUTURO AND THE ONLY FUTURO THING WE CAN THINK OF IS GUNDAM MECHS HURR DURR
You really think they "couldn't think of anything else"? It couldn't just be that they wanted a consistent theme to make violet forms more distinct/recognizable?
And the consistent theme being bringing nothing new to the table and using the same techno cyberpunk babble we've seen a billion times before?
Violet designs are creatively bankrupt for the most part, over half of them are just straight up robotic versions of a pokemon with 0 twists. When Hariyama is one of your better Paradox designs despite there being a fricking Tyranitar in your roster you know you did something wrong.
Violet paradox forms are literally just my mom's robot pokemon, they're too similar to their originals.
I really hope hydreigon just shoots missiles out of its hands. Also robovoir out is top tier Waifumon
I like em. P-Donphan, both Volcaronas, Tyranitar and that cute Delibird are my favs.
>The Pokemon don't look futuristic, but are instead robots.
They look fricking stupid.
What are their names, anyways?
Hydreigon reminds me of the low quality Pokemon Rumble models. A shame it got such a boring paradox
Scarlet has too many nfe shitmons
i just realized Delibirds bag is a water tank holy shit the typing makes so much sense now
i think were gonna need better images to get a good grasp on how they really look, these cut out too much
>jigglypuff unanimously liked despite changing almost nothing

I wouldn't say like it, but there just isn't enough going on for anything to go wrong.
I think it's an improvement over the original
They're all fricking ugly.
