Anyone else think we've been eating pretty good this year in terms of horror games?
Been a while since we've had this many horror games coming out. and a lot of them are bangers too.
Is Survival horror finally saved?
Calisto Protocol was better than Dead Space Remake. Had actual story and amazing graphics, not just a 2008 "Remake"-tier polish
Calisto Protocol was the only horror game recently that I legit hated.
I'm a massive Dead Space fan and CP let me down at every turn.
Come on man, how the fuck are people calling shit like RE4, Dead Space and Alan Ware horror games? Aren't they supposed to make you feel like you don't want to play anymore because you're so scared? These are just action games with monsters sprinkled in.
Action horror is a thing.
And I would rather be able to fight back instead of running away like a pussy in my horror games. it' more fun that way.
You can fight back in SH1, 3 and still have an actual horror experience. These modern horror games are lucky to have even one act where it's actually scary like the Regenerador fight
horror is subjective
Not really when people aren't even going to mention these games as being horror compared to actual scary ones like SH, Amnesia, Outlast, FNAF in a decade. RE was a horror series until the fourth one.
Guess I'm just a pussy.
Dead Space Remake got a few good scares out of me. I found it pretty immersive.
if you look at the gamepass subreddit about deadspace there's a ton of people who noped out because the game was too stressful and scary. not for me tho, I'm a turbo alpha Chad, I beat it 3x
There's no such thing as a scary horror game. The only video games that ever scared me are Jak & Daxter and Outer Wilds.
This literally only happens when your like 10 years old.
If your a grown adult you should be so far detached from this shit it doesn't affect you at all. You can still kinda get it if you play horror VR games but that will also eventually have no effect as well.
>you should be so far detached from this shit
Why?
If you can't make the distinction between video game and reality you might have to be locked up for everyone's safety
Are you fucking braindead?
DS is definitely horror.
RE4 is mostly action. Horror was only been very rarely used in the whole RE franchise.
Alan Wake I never played.
>eating good
get your reddit speak outta here
My Friendly Neighborhood was good but way too easy, and the Unfriendly difficulty turns it up way too high because it's a le silly meme difficulty. Something between veteran and unfriendly would have been nice for me.
Games where I can defend myself with guns are inherently not scary and never will be
games where I can reload my save after being killed by the monster are
inherently not scary and never will be
Dead Space Remake is actually pretty good, not really sure why Ganker shat itself over it. Makes me want to give Callisto a stroke.
>not really sure why Ganker shat itself over it
virtue signaling
>virtue signaling
Who is?
people here like to virtue signal they hate DS remake because it has some ESG on it
Yep. Playing through all the modern RE games on Xbox. I think the Series X is the ultimate horror game console because of amazing graphics, quick resume, Dolby Atmos support, and overlap with games also released on PC
Treat it as it's own game, not a Dead-Space like. Raising your expectations is a mistake. Consider buying the additional deaths DLC for even more enjoyment on your first playthrough.
What's bait about it?
I absolutely despised what they did with every character except Elizabeth.
Gender neutral bathrooms mind broke Ganker
A stupid bathroom sign was the main thing they cared about not the game it's self.
Ganker does not play video games. simple as that.
there was a hanging tranny in one of the bathrooms as well
As someone who liked Dead Space and the remake. not The Callisto Protocol is not worth playing. it's awful. I'd go to say it's even worse than Dead Space 3.
It can't be that bad. Is it because of the melee combat?
Yes, the game looks pretty, but the gameplay/combat is terrible.
>eating
Can you stop expressing yourself like an imbecile for a moment?
Amnesia the Bunker is the only good (actually new) one there so no not really. We're still in a miserable drought and it's gonna get really bad when the SH2 remake comes out.
>Amnesia the Bunker is the only good (actually new) one
i wish the story wasn't so fucking short and the bunker was bigger
they should also have given you more ammo and made the monster more aggressive
It'd be cool if there was a true randomizer mode that changed up the layout of the Bunker itself to an extent.
regardless of randomizers there just isn't any good reason to replay the game multiple times apart from clearing the hardest difficulty
they should've added new areas, unveiled new lore, new weapons, enemies, shit like that to make it worth replaying
shit, at least they could've made some wacky gameplay mutators
I'm not exactly an expert, but the bunker in Amnesia seemed absurdly large to me. Were WW1 bunkers just that big?
That wouldn't really work with the way the Bunker and its rooms are built.
If you slightly tilt the stick left in right in the DS REmake you'll see Isaac leans a little bit but stays standing in place.
>remakes
>good
jfc are we this cucked?
Just wait until SH2R comes out and this board is filled with people defending it.
