Think about the first 4 generations. What is Japanese about a Mexican duck, israeli golem, a scientific mutation gone wrong, or a Easter head statue? Just think about all the things about the first 4 regions that need to be removed just to fit your gay ass criteria about "giving a shit about the culture of the real world counterpart". Its almost like the mindset that went with Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh is that these aren't real life counterparts, these are Pokemon regions that take place in a world with Pokemon that happens to be similar to the real world. The regions themselves were more inspired. There is no real life Mt Coronet in Hokkaido, and the religious theme about Sinnoh is a real subtle reference to Hokkaido, assuming it is one. That isn't and shouldn't be what Pokemon is about. If anything, this has been an issue thats been bugging me for a while. Ever since Gen 6, it feels like GF began relying on "this X region is actually Pokemon X country" as a gimmick and got more and more boring, more lazy, and more uninspired as a result. Thankfully, they never went so far as to limit the designs of Pokemon to fit their respective country, because that is dumber and would really restrict some creativity. Galar really suffers from "this is meant to be the UK, so here's a theme park shallow representation of it'. When I see you invent scenarios about how Pokemon needs to take place in some country, like Mexico or California. The results are so boring.
