>Been playing MH since the first one on PS2
>Every other MH games made me an addict, playing the game non-stop
>MH Rise
>Bored me out of my mind
>Had to buy Deep Rock Galatic to kill boredom
>mfw a game about clicking rock with almost zero enemy varieties is more fun and exiciting than a game about hunting various powerful monsters
why
I automatically assume everyone who claims to have played the original is lying
>played the original back in 2004
>havent played a MH since World and then Rise
I'm still trying to find out if I can mod the music from MH1 into these games.
Lol frick off. My dad went out and got me the online adaptor and a PS2 keyboard so I could play and chat in MH1. Frick that game was dope
That's because they are
Oldest I ever played was an emulated MH Freedom. Plesioth hipchecks eventually malded me away from it somewhere atound G rank. Can't say I don't prefer World and Rise to it.
you aren't a real hunter unless you had to use the stick to fight
Played it, absolutely hated it. Series didn't click for me until the 3ds version of Tri
They are, because if you've played the original there's no fricking way you can be content with what World and Rise have to offer. The funniest ones are those who lied about starting in gen 1 and claim to have enjoyed Tri.
That's the normal reaction when a 3dsbab feels like their hardcore series veteran status is being threatened
In my experience 3ds people don't brag about veteran status that much. At least those who started with 4U. It's the 3rd gen homosexuals who are extremely insufferable.
I wish consolewarhomosexualry hadn't become such a big part of discussing this series.
I played the original, flicking the stick to attack felt like shit. thank god for them learning their lesson with the psp version
They're only lying if they claim they're a fan of the series who played the original, then skipped the entire series until World/Rise.
Breed with wyverians
Welcome to Monster Hunter.
Is this FU? What armor is that?
Woman has hypno I think and something else, maybe conga
Man has Rathalos and the guild hat
Just wait til you see the endgame grind.
It's just fighting stuff you already fought 95% of the time with a couple 'furious' tier monsters unlocked.
i mean...yeah...that sounds like an endgame grind. What were you expecting?
Possibly the worst mh game in existence.
I don't give a frick.
What pisses me off is that it's the second time my goddamn save got corrupted. First time for who knows what reason, now due to running out of memory most likely. Turns out, a cpmbination of docker eating my butthole and these c**ts having MHRs shaders pissing on the rest can eat through 15 free GBs with ease. What seemed like a normal save and quit turned into another shitshow. I want to goddamn play this stupid fricking game, but now I have to wonder if moving around files, getting my new SSD to work and replaying won't result in the same old bullshit. Fricking hell, I don't want to grind through 1-6 hub quests and rampages again, they take 10-15 minutes each at least and it feels like an unending slog when I just want to get back to Sunbreak to fight the master rank bosses.
Are there any sunbreak ready saves online?
Please respond
I don't understand, even when I started World in Low Rank I would take at least 10 minutes to hunt a monster. Just started this a few hours ago and without using the defender gear, all these monsters just fricking explode without getting a chance to flee. Low rank was arguably longer than high rank even in World because you didn't have strong weapons but for some reason it doesn't matter in Rise
Also:
>rampage quests
The first one felt worse than 5 runs of Zorah Magdnaros
Rise is babby-tier easy. Even for bing bing levels.
Magnamalo is literally the hardest flagship ever made dumbass
lmao wat?
Name one that is harder dumbass.
>"muh velkana!"
That's grank not base game moron
Nergigante was way harder.
No it wasn't dumbass
Almudron was harder than Black persongante sonyigger
The demo was designed to be obnoxiously difficult.
Weird how even a village Khezu managed to filter world babbies then.
>even when I started World in Low Rank I would take at least 10 minutes to hunt a monster
jesus christ thats bad
Not really, world monsters actually have HP and their hitboxes are actually scary because they are sized like....well monsters. Rise, everything in low rank is about as big as you are as the hunter and you can dodge and sidestep literally everything with bad timing.
Low rank Rise monsters literally spread their ass cheeks open for you to wail on them, flinch after 3 combos, topple after another 3, get exhausted after another 2 and then they die.
>world monsters actually have HP
lol
>their hitboxes are actually scary
lmao
Not scary in terms of dying, but scary in terms of actually getting hit. Large hitboxes in World meant you got hit more often while trying to wail on monsters in low rank, making it take longer and making you take your turn properly. Rise low rank is a joke because it is impossible to get hit by anything in comparison to World
>but scary in terms of actually getting hit
lol
>Large hitboxes in World meant you got hit more often
lmao
see
Odogaron is STILL bigger than most of these fricking monsters in Rise, and he's faster with less chance of getting stunned. Its still the same thing: monsters like Odogaron in World are at least a threat to hit you, nothing in Rise is until you get to endgame
>are at least a threat to hit you
Not with how pathetically slow they are in MHW
>Odogaron is STILL bigger than most of these fricking monsters in Rise
lol
lmao
Odogaron's jaws literally clip through the player half the time, it's embarrassing how bad the hitboxes are
Out of all the fricking world shitters you are defending the one monster wich has probably the worst hitboxes in terms of offense
>-garon
>a threat
With THOSE honest hitboxes?
>monsters like Odogaron in World are at least a threat to hit you, nothing in Rise is until you get to endgame
So world was your first mh
>world monsters hitboxes are actually scary because they are sized like....well monsters
Ask me how I know you never fought Odogaron
Are you doing village or hub? Hub monsters have more health.
>when I started World in Low Rank I would take at least 10 minutes to hunt a monster
how?
anon rise monsters have unironically more HP
>play nu-MH
>it's bad
imagine my surprise
play the frontier z game on a local server, it has hands down the best progression of any monster hunter game
Frontier is fun but the server infrastructure stuff is pain and I hope the trannies can separate the client and files from it.
How
mhg op has the instructions
it's way easier now than it used to be
>hands down the best progression
Are you fricking shitting me? The "rush you straight to G rank" "progression" it had late in its life is horrible. It teaches you nothing and you're dropped off in a rank that has wildly varying difficulties.
>Play Frontier Z
Doesn't that game have 1/4th the drops due to it being a pay to play MMO in default, so you're grinding 4 times longer on an already grindy game? Also Magnet Spike and Tonfa are locked by default, no?
You can set up a private server to give yourself a premium sub for all the benefits. It's still a pre-FU MH game though, the grind is not entirely alleviated.
there's a way to make it so that weapon/armor upgrades are way easier, no idea how to do it though.
>can't stand fighting the same monster for 60+ hours, making the rewards more satisfying
>clearly doesn't like fighting monsters in a monster hunter game
Stay out of my franchise you double shitter.
I would like to inform you that some of the shit in frontier needs ridiculous amounts of stuff to forge/upgrade. Like the varusa switchaxe needing 50 supremacy teostra wings just to craft.
All Gou weapons require 50 mats right? 50 of something, 10 top soul tickets from HC monsters, then those G rank gems.
It's an absurd grind just one for weapon. But putting it into perspective makes since as at one point that was the absolute endgame, the last thing you'd grind for. But not anymore. Hence the progression for Frontier right now being shit, frankly.
moving the post for where the endgame is without going back and fixing grinding for stuff that is no longer endgame was a huge mistake.
While I have my problems with afflicted investigations, I do appreciate that the a* levels from previous updates go up faster than levels from the current ones. 100-120 went 4 levels at a time for me, then 121 went back to 1 level per hunt.
Imagine fighting a Great Jaggi equivalent and needing 60 hides just for a basic b***h weapon that'll get you off the ground, but isn't even good. This isn't your average 'Hunter Grind'.
Do you like racing to the finish?
Or do you like smashing heads and cutting tails? Sounds like the former.
If FU/GU/4U/Rise/World are any indication (and the modern games are the 'relevant ones'), racing to the finish is the point.
>The end is logical conclusion, and expectation
>Ultra super elite 1 hit death AOE nuke zone challenges at the end
>Nobody sits at low content
>Game has time limits to keep you moving forward
>Guiding Lands/GQ140s/Deviants/Final Title Updates/Risens+Anomalies/etc - endgame content.
You kinda' are forced to go to the end to be up to date with equipment and content, so why waste time not being there?
This post makes no sense and is pure projection on your part
Getting to endgame as quickly as possible in the old games doesnt make you good, it just means that you’ll inevitably be a carried shitter who triple carts on those ultra-hard quests you’re so obsessed with
>you’ll inevitably be a carried shitter who triple carts on those ultra-hard quests you’re so obsessed with
Frontier in a nutshell. You're talking about a game you don't understand.
There's a balance to things like this, and it's definitely not "grind 1 thing 100 times".
I’ve never played frontier dude, just pointing out an obviously idiotic mindset that has negatively impacted how people approach monster hunter overall
I would rather fight literally anything else rather than put up with supremacy teo's shit 50+ times for a single weapon that I'm only going to replace with a zenith one in a bit anyway.
The comparison isn't good since Frontier monsters are way fricking weaker than mainline with only the very peak of monsters being the select few. What takes 3 minutes takes like 30 seconds to kill in Frontier. Plus none of these monsters matter thanks to the Elephant Snake in the room which by all means removes Monster Hunting from Monster Hunter and is instead Monster Great Slaying : Frontier and maybe eventually a Kut Ku if you feel like it
Supremacy monsters are even harder than most G rank equivalents, are you joking? I don't know if you played on some shitty nerf patch or what but Supremacy Teo is harder than any G rank Teo I can think of otherwise.
Supremacy Teo isn't even harder than GHC Ruko. it's overblown as frick just because it has a bloated healthbar
The grind for a lot of things is completely absurd compared to all other games, yes.
Tell me, anon. What is the Raviente grind like again?
I would if it had more than 10 frames a second, or something like charge blade.
>best progression
lmao
Low Rank is the shittiest and least thought out garbage, High Rank is a terrible rush to G-Rank, G-Rank has unfinished weapon trees and the most absolute nonsensical garbage of having all the G Quests available from the start (except for Exotics and Zeniths which are the only sense of progression the entire game has)
>Been playing since MHFU
>New game releases
>I buy it
>It's fun, money well spent
>Go to Ganker and see losers fighting each other
>Sometimes I join the discussion and throw shit on both sides, the discussion gets even funnier
Life's good
Yep.
At this point I believe people that rag on any MH game either need a break from playing them all the time or are just shitposting.
This also happens every time a new high rank game releases (or re-releases in this case) and people move into it with the expectations of the g-rank they just came from. Happens to me too, honestly.
I don't hate the new games, I hate the players they bring.
I'm willing to be money that you're the problem here and not the new players the games bring.
It is what it is. Can't be making new and improved games in a series without people coming in who only know them.
You got it figured out son.
>any and all monster hunter discussion on Ganker is nothing but shitflinging and autistic tantrums
?close thread
>call up the boys, crack open a white claw and hunt monsters
Swag
Decades.
If the past is anything to go by.
I feel you, OP. Been a vet since PSP, but RIse has been the most lackluster by far. Since I didn't try to pirate 3rd, I can at least appreciate the Nip aesthetic as a novelty.
I dunno. It's not bad, but I feel like it crossed the line from "hunting sim" to "action game" whereas World only brushed up against it.
>stuck on Switch due to how grindy the game is
Absolutely miserable, worse yet the console releases are gonna split the player base further.
>Can't interact with the next NPC/item box/canteen until the autosave finishes
>the autosaves triggers after every NPC/item box/canteen interaction
Frick gameplay, this is the worst offender in this game
Just turn off autosave. That's what I do and I've never had a problem.
>But what if I make a weapon or change some option and forget to save?
The game asks if you want to save after every hunt and whenever you quit. Unless you're not quitting out of the menu, you're going to be saving at every point that matters.
Who even uses auto save in these games? The old method of saving after a hunt or when quitting the game works just fine.
>The old method of saving after a hunt or when quitting the game works just fine.
Exactly
/v/'s endless seething hatred of MHR will never not make me laugh.
Why is playing with friends in World so fricking tedious? I'm talking about the early game when you're forced to watch cutscenes or forced to wait.
>I'm talking about the early game
That's the whole game, Anon.
This installment is almost burning me out from the whole franchise, decided to forget this shit existed just to be hype for the next big title.
Capcom definitely overextended the goodwill they had built with World. This trainwreck was just a quick money grab.
>goodwill they had built with World
you mean destroyed?
World is the best Monster Hunter game and pesk of the franchise
>pesk of the franchise
You got that right!
Nothing will ever come close to GU. The sheer fact that you had 20 Elder Dragons and 15 Deviants to hunt at the endgame makes ever other game in the franchise seems like a minuscule effort.
GU is pretty great. I understand that world was a pretty big undertaking in terms of having to remake everything and being unable to re-use any assets, but its hard to not resent the step back some. However if world/new engine MH can reach GU levels it'll be insane how good it'll be.
GU is worse than 4U dumbasses
>Apex monsters
nothing is worse than 4U with its dogshit maps, GQ autism and awful weapon balance
GU is just a better 4U.
A Charge Blade main, I see.
Max Level Deviants were the pinnacle of the series for me. Boltreaver Astalos. Both World and Rise have been a cakewalk for me since then. I sleepwalk through encounters now. Still enjoyable, but overall, the satisfaction of learning a monster and exploiting ever little opening just isn't there anymore. Even with new mons, I don't think, I tear them apart with just instinct.
Not to mention that GU mechanics are extremely satisfying to use (like the dodge in Adept) and the fact that there's no infinite restock makes you really plan and give your best in every single hunt. In World and Rise there's not much reason for you to give 100% since you know that you have infinite potions to solve your problems. Sadly, this is one thing that I don't think will ever go away since it's a casual filter.
>Boltreaver
mah homie
Nah, 4U is where it's at. Generations is okay and I appreciate it being the experimental playground for a lot of new mechanics adapted in Gen 5, but they shoved every asset they could get their grubby hands on to add to the game for an insanely bloated roster. No, I DO NOT want to fight against Gen 1 monsters and their shitty movesets.
GU was the furthest thing from an “effort” you could possibly achieve though. It’s just 4U with repackaged content from 3U and the portable games, with some meme monsters thrown in for merchandising
Endgame Black folk are the bane of the franchise
So you're the kind of player that wants 10 hours of content so you can bounce to the next game and brag about having finished 57 games at the end of the year right?
Indeed. Playing with Samus skin was quite fun.
Not just that had best promo content ranging from Nintendo stuff, capcom, Sega, SE, and Jump.
Thing I like about gen is the equipment. You can upgrade every weapon line to near parity so you don't have to worry about picking something you like then having its qualities change as you upgrade it. This is especially nice for weapons like HH and GL whose songs or shell types might be different at the end of the line. In addition, most armors don't require rare mats anymore so it's easier to fullset without relying on a lucky drop. Fricking rathian faulds every game requiring a plate to craft. If you were lucky enough to get one you'd rather use it on a weapon instead.
>90% of the monster roster is the reused from the other games
Rise is the first time most of them are actually fun to fight so it didn't bother me
which weapons have the most mechanical depth in rise?
i beat the game with GS but it's a pretty simple weapon as long as you know the monster's behavior.
CB
is this your first MH game? The first sequel, Dos is nothing more than just a glorified expansion to the first game
>The first sequel, Dos is nothing more than just a glorified expansion to the first game
Nah Dos adds a lot of tedious and dumb bullshit to the franchise because the "mainline" developers were high on their own farts.
I hope they add some new weapons for the next mainline entry. The Accel Axe coming off the phone game would be cool.
I just want old HH back
Makes me you wonder how many old weapon concept and type hasn't been reused, yet.
I feel it. Just make the new version of it a style or something if they really want to keep it in.
Sure but having the rocket dashes and extra flair is great, plus the style of it. Tonfas were cool too but were super strong and would need to be brought down to be balanced.
Accel Axe is just a tiny GS. Tonfa is more appropriate
So which one of these would I get do I play?
WHO THE FRICK THOUGHT RAMPAGES WERE A GOOD IDEA
There's rampages in Sunbreak? I literally stopped playing vanilla Rise when they forced me to complete these shitty quests. If it goes on in the DLC there's no reason for me to ever come back.
Rampages are completely gone in Sunbreak, there are optional quests that let you take npc characters with you instead
No, there aren't rampages in sunbreak. Stop being so hyperbolic.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND WE NEED NEW GIMMICKS NEW GIMMICKS EVERY ENTRY.
Hey can someone help me out? I'm trying to fight pukei pukei but idk where he went after flying up to move to a different zone. His icon is still at the same place not moving but it's darkened so he isn't on the same level as me but he's not coming down are anything. Is it a bug? Cause I really don't feel like quitting the quest
The same monsters between IB and SB feel completely different though
I much prefer the latter; strong hunter vs strong monster is funner than normal hunter vs nerfed monster
I don't remember you guys hating those missions in older mh where you just harpoon massive monsters the way you do rampages
Everyone hated this. At least the people I've played with.
I frickin love "beat the shit out of giant monster until it leaves or dies" missions, they're a fun chance to use shit I don't normally use.
I'm also one of like 5 people who enjoy rampages too, so I'm in a minority I guess.
been mh playing since the one that introduced the tigrex and to me theres not really a best one. They just all are fun.
Though i think i did get the most enjoyement from the the one where you join that caravan because the sense of progression felt nice and the one that introduced styles because aerial hammer is the most fun shit ever.
So when is TU4 dropping?
Cancelled coz of Rice flop
February 20th. There are 4 more event quests in the files, you can go look at em on kiranico.
whats the final monster?
TU4: Risen Crimson Glow, Velk/Potential Velk variant.
TU5: Amatsu, Malzeno Risen/Variant
Meant for
oops.
So, 2 more updates with a bunch of old monsters. Thank you Capcom senpai
You morons kept creaming your pants when the previous game's updates were 95% returning monsters.
WHERE IS RISEN SHAGARU?
TU4
I'm sorry anon, I don't think we're getting more than Risen CG next TU. The game already has files for Valstrax performing the risen burst and the roadmap doesn't imply more than one monster. It explicitly says powered up monster.
why would risen CGV come before risen shaggy?
Because the last update just GOT a powered up Magala that has access to most of their shared move pool.
true, but considering that CGV was the last monster added to base rise you'd think that he'd be the last risen monster (unless malzeno ends up getting a risen)
While I wouldn't be against Risen Shagaru (I kind of dislike his armor and would love a Risen remix of it) I don't exactly know how many new attacks they could give him at this point. Chaotic Gore is also already max danger rating in the hunter's notes. I mean, CG Val is too, but four magalas is a lot.
if memory serves me straight there was still a slot after shaggy even after chaotic gore, meaning he's probably gonna get a risen form.
is there any monster in this series that uses blood or themed around it. I'm still pretty new to these games
Baruragaru and Malzeno, probably some others
Rise and Portable 3rd are the best
They are saving the good stuff for World 2
>World 2
There will be no such thing
>go to play it on games pass
>doesn't have sunbreak
??????
why? I don't get it. In fact, you can't even get sunbreak at all, like it doesn't exist on that version. What a weird choice, just gonna skip it I guess.
This happened on PC, too. They're doing the same dripfeed of updates they did with the original Switch version, just accelerated. As such, it'll just be base game Rise for a couple months.
Sunbreak released on both Switch and PC on the same day
That seems like a horrendous idea. Why would I ever want to buy it then?
>less than a month until KINOcraft returns
Drawsword bros... we are going home...
Finally.. kino has returned
Here's what makes no sense to me:
>worldgays want "monster tracking"
>don't want open world
>they want "press o to sniff monster farts"
>already know the monster is in area 8 like it always is
>decry risebreak because it's too "arcadey" and you can see the monsters on the map at all times (can literally be disabled)
Worst thing that could have ever happened to the franchise was appealing to normies
Inb4 before someone tries to claim the old games made you "track" the monster, when it was the exact same "monster spawns in X area" shit and several of the game's QoL changes like constant tracking were previously available as armor skills.
I will forever hate world for being piss easy. It casualized the series in so many ways and brought in so many shitters who just spam attacks. Had it been a seperate game, I wouldn't care. Cry harder world babies.
That's what happens when a console selling exclusive sells out. Things get worse. Tri was the beginning, World was the end. Rise is tinker toys, and whatever comes out next will be World 2. Might skip a gen.
>GL shells still don't work like CB phials
give me my fricking elemental shells already
What's gonna be the next game's gimmick? Sunbreak has so much shit that whatever the mainline team does next is probably going to be removing more than it introduces
I just want them to give us prowlers back, being a cat was kittykino.
Taming monsters. Like stories I guess but like 1 at a time and you feed them and increase their bond.
Given Palamutes and Wyvern Riding, I could see them adapting the Buddy system to include Stories style monster taming.
Another attempt at swimming
What are the funnest MH games to play solo?
I've done all of them solo but if its your first MH then p3rd
>just hunted a congalala and red khezu in everwood for resource points
4U is comfy
I just recently got gud at 4U. Feels so good. Gonna play 3 next. Wish Ace Gunner had more sexy art.
Esbenis :DDD
>a monster hunter game being mostly monsters from old games
perish the thought
>Constantly reusing monsters from old games
>Monsters from new games frequently use the base skeleton of old monsters
Jesus Christ could you even imagine
Next you're gonna tell me they add like two original monsters per full price expansion lmao
Is that nakarkos w/o his shell?
>hunting monsters in monster hunter
I don't believe it
Rise > World > P3rd > 4U > FU > Tri > Freedom
Haven't played GU yet.
why dont they remove ranged weapons from these games? hate when these gays join why dont they play another game
I switch between bow and chargeblade. It's fun.
How do i use the charge blade
Capcom's been getting away with it since Street Fighter 2 unironically. Got really fricky around Darkstalkers 2
I'm so fricking tired of LS being the best weapon in every recent game
the Bowguns are the best weapons though
No one cares about ranged
Its not even close
>another even more cancerous valstrax
frick i hate being shit
>he thinks Monster Hunter is the only game on the planet that reuses assets regularly
>How long can Capcom keep getting away with it?
for as long as there is no serious contender.
dauntless was a good attempt but lacked updates, playerbase and gear and monster diversity so it failed.
there is nothing to compete with the game so capcom can cling to the brand name and get away with anything. its the pokemon situation basically.
>there is nothing to compete with the game so capcom can cling to the brand name and get away with anything. its the pokemon situation basically.
Don't you dare comparing monhun to the pile of shit that pokemon company is pulling out of their lazy anus.
anon... the pokemon company wasnt always as it is now. dont cling to companies and think they are your best friends.
if they can get away with serving shit then they will.
>>90% of the monster roster is the reused from the other games
Welcome to every Monster Hunter since Tri.
Not played Rise in a while. Does old mods still work if I reactivate them?
>was the mod updated to sunbreak
yes
>was the mod not updated to sunbreak
no
>was the mod updated for newest title update
yes, but many mods are unaffected and work regardless
>was the mod not updated for newest title update
no
>Maybe
Eh, ill wait till I can be bothered to reinstall mods then.
I'm still kind of mad that they didn't release console Rise with Sunbreak.
I get why they did it, so Sunbreak can come to consoles up to date with TU5, but it really doesn't seem like that much work to actively update if the game has already ran on PC for a year.
It's fine like that for new players but I was thinking about double dipping and certainly don't want to have to buy both game and expansion separately again. I hope they don't take too long releasing it. I've seen people say they might time it with TU5 but I hope to shit that they give us console Sunbreak a bit earlier at least.
>fighting Yama Tsukami and Kurai
>just makes me appreciate how they did nothing but improve this awful fight in FU
Honestly this thing deserves another chance
>giant orb that you brainlessly slap until it falls down
It really doesn't, it fundamentally cannot be good
Been farming shaguru 16 times for just one phosgem and it refuses to drop, meanwhile I got a sergios lens and skyemerald first time fighting. Why is desire sensor so cruel?
I've given up on actually getting another Lucent mantle naturally. Gonna just buy that shit with coins. Maybe when they put him in anomaly investigations I'll fight him again.
Just release a new PC Monster Hunter on DX9 or something please.
Pickle
