I dont recall anybody discussing the first one either and it still got a sequel. I'm not really sure I've ever met anyone whos actually played or even fricking knows ANYTHING about hellblade

It was a walking simulator that a collection of normalgays (and a few tasteless Gankerirgins) hyped up because "OMG SO TRIPPY SCHIZO HALLUCINATIONS WOWZERS!" and that's literally it. Which means it also gets a complimentary dicksucking from vidya media because the protagonist has "neurodivergence" or whatever dumb buzzword they use to describe mental illness.

It’s hilarious how Xbox and game journos desperately tried for years to meme this series as the NEXT BEST THING EVER and people didn’t care.

I never finished the first one because it was so boring
Is there a point where it actually gets good?

the first quarter of the game was kinda shit with dull forests but once you get on the bridge it got better as it went on

While I liked the first game, it didn't need a sequel.

Haven't they been working on this for an absurdly long time now? I feel like they announced it at some state of play or something like five years ago, I can't imagine how they wouldn't be on the block having released nothing since that.

And not even a full priced release. It won’t be pretty.

definitely. no one played the first game, and no one will buy this or subscribe to gamepass because of it. it'll be a bargain bin critical darling and people will prop it up to argue that gamepass is worth the subscription, but will ultimately be a financial loss. just like HiFi rush

Why is Microsoft doing all of this shit?

Gaming did record numbers during Covid and money people thought it would be the new normal.

Not that anon but apparently Microsoft's actual heads are like "what the frick are you guys doing" after they bought Activision Blizzard, and they're making them trim the fat. Any studio that has their latest release out soon is on the chopping block, and once Ninja Theory gets their SIX YEAR LONG DEV CYCLE game out, they are so fricked.
id is probably safe since they haven't even announced quake 6 or a new doom so it's a year or two off.

            Even if it's a success?

Yep, apparently despite the sudden out of nowhere launch, the lack of advertising, and it being available on a $10 a month service ($17 on xbox, $10 on PC), Hi-Fi rush was a big success according to Microsoft.
Like Redfall obviously was a failure, but them shutting down a studio after a SUCCESSFUL MID TIER RELEASE and surprise hit means they're looking to trim the fat anywhere they can.

They admitted Redfall was a flop but were adamant Hi-Fi Rush was a success. They fully admit when shit bombs, but refused to do so for Hi-Fi Rush. https://www.eurogamer.net/xbox-boss-phil-spencer-apologises-for-redfalls-disastrous-launch-we-let-a-lot-of-people-down-this-week
Hi-Fi Rush got a lot of people to sub to Game Pass for a month, so it wasn't reflected in sales.

I don't understand the idea of making a tech demo a game, Wouldn't it be better to make a movie?
