>retrieve a bunch of artifacts for the Temple in Morrowind

>retrieve a bunch of artifacts for the Temple in Morrowind
>after you become the highest rank you can ask for all the artifacts back from the priests you retrieved them for

>retrieve some artifacts for the Archmage in Oblivion
>he says he'll keep them safe and does so by deleting them from the game and you can never get them back

>retrieve the skeleton key for Nocturnal in Skyrim
>have to turn it in to continue the questline and you never get it back

There's no reason to ever hand in the skeleton key

You need to hand it over in order to complete the Thieves Guild questline.

So? The quest fucking sucks there's no reason to complete it.

cant you get them back after you become archmage or some shit? like I think you can just loot them in his room. I'm like 90% sure this happened when I played it a month ago. too bad everything is leveled and shitty in this game.

I can't believe I bought morrowind and oblivion. I'm never going to have the patience to actually play them.

I remember thinking it was such bullshit Oblivion 'breaks' the springheel jack boots. Oblivion and Skyrim so often don't want to reward you with fun and mechanically useful gear

      >I remember thinking it was such bullshit Oblivion 'breaks' the springheel jack boots.
If your acrobatics score is high enough, you don't need the boots for that drop and you get to keep them.

Yeah, the problem is iirc they're scripted to break and don't tell you. So keeping them doesn't seem to be entirely intended

There are a lot of "unintended" things in Oblivion, like 100% chameleon armour. Not as many as Morrowind, yes, but it still feels "gamey", unlike Skyrim where you cannot do anything remotely close to fun.

That might be the only true RPG feature left in skyrim. Will definitely be patched out in TES6.

naw man, the fighters guild in oblivion started with "go kill some mountain lions that are killing some lady's pet rats"

The Blackwood Company appears and upstages the Fighters Guild. With another member of the guild, you both investigate them, do some interrogation work, and it turns out they abuse the fuck out of highs from Hist tree sap (that also made you unintentionally kill innocents). There's also a little shit of a Bosmer who defaults on two contracts before joining Blackwood and getting killed by your hand later.

Can you avoid murdering innocents? I remembet realising what the game was trying to trick me into doing and trying to break it, but Oblivion is so forgettable that I don't remember if I succeeded.

Don't forget the amazing painting drawn by oreyn. I don't know how that anon found the FG questline forgettable. Sure there were a lot of boring dungeon crawls, but the hist sap hallucination twist was very neat. During the hallucination you even end up killing the person who you helped before to pay off the debt of her father. Her father returns mourning over her corpse when you return to investigate the slaughter
