I don't know what exactly preemptive frames is, anyone tried it?
Runahead is buggy af, maybe this new thing is usable

Have they fixed the interface yet?
Seething
I guess that's a no.
>entering a thread where you know the topic is going to drive you out of your mind with rage
lol y tho?
They did. It's no longer launching with the awful XMB interface by default. You can also just hide the useless menu items you don't need now. Paired with config override and the interface is no longer a problem for me.
Yes, now it's that awful smartphone and/or NSwitch looking interface that sucks almost as bad. I guess if nothing else I can now see all my menu options at once
Actually I guess it's pretty identical to the switch
Filtered.
You don't deserve to use RA if you get filtered this fucking hard.
“People” who don’t understand RetroArch shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
Nah fuck you guys. I'm going back to the purest soul.
That's only present in the Windows version, it seems. I'm on linux and don't have it. But I use a gamepad and the xmb interface, so not a problem.
download the one with Qt in the filename
I simply got what automatically downloads. I only wanted the desktop thing for adding the new marquee thing, but it breaks some of my settings, so I'm good, everything works perfect. Only thing left to do is fix the arcade roms. Also fixed having to login to retroachievements every time this past weekend.
nope, it's still awful
many options that should be standard are hidden within menus
setting up controllers is a still a huge mess let alone saving any configuration
and them bullying emu devs into only doing cores instead of standalone emulators is the worst of them all
>and them bullying emu devs into only doing cores instead of standalone emulators is the worst of them all
Name one example of this.
>inb4 duckstation
Stenzek is a mega sperg that cries harassment at every turn, even when it's just an end user reporting issues he doesn't care to fix. Not that RetroArch's lead dev isn't a gay in his own right, mind you, but a lot of standalone devs either declined to make a core themselves or even told him to fuck off with little in the way of consequence beyond bouts of Discord drama. The cases of "bullying" you often hear about are just RetroArch's lead dev getting into e-pissing matches with equally or even more insane autist devs like Stenzek, which gets branded as "bullying" or "harassment" by NPCs at Reddit and Resetera.
>Name one example
>Writes an entire essay trying to cover his ass because he's wrong
You done?
>setting up controllers is a still a huge mess
It's confusing at first but I find the process really smooth now, you can have per games remapping and it's easy to do
> them bullying emu devs into only doing cores
Oh but yeah this is total shit and fuck them for this
SNES9X devs still do standalone releases along with maintaining the libretro core upstream. Mupen64Plus devs have NEVER collaborated with libretro and never got bullied into it (TwinAPhex fumed about it for a while but again, there was never any harassment, they were simply not interested). Dolphin and PCSX2 both told him to fuck off (the former do blame him for one of their chud devs suiciding, though, but he/she/whatever actually cited health issues before doing the deed). The only people that are committed to pushing this gay narrative about libretro/TA bullying devs are Stenzek and the MAME devs, who have huge axes to grind with him for various reasons. Not that TA doesn't deserve some hate, far from it - he's a total fucking clown who deserves humbling more than once in a while. But he's not this big bad villain of the emulation scene, either.
>give me an example!
>Wait no. Not those examples!
Kek
It's been fixed for a few years now
It's nothing to get excited about. Runahead would operate constantly meaning effectively double CPU usage. Pre-emptive frames is simply a more efficient way of doing it so that it only has to do extra work in response to controller input.
In practice it matters not outside of synthetic benchmarks because unless your machine was already fast enough to do runahead then when pre-emptive frames kicks in to re-run the core logic you'll still go over 16.6ms and get frameskip. The most it achieves is it will consume less power and so you'll save battery life.
Thanks anon, now I understand
oh no, the framepacing was already bad
The preemptive frames is basically a nothingburger as the performance is worse (varies depending on inputs) and the frame pacing is worse. But you can fast-forward faster is really the only main advantage.
You also get input replays and an overhaul of the override menu though, which is pretty good.
I only tried runahead with Genesis games and it was working extremely well. What other systems got decent runahead?
PS1?
Does it support diagonals yet?
My TV screen was never that convex. This is like playing with a fisheye lens
Man, I miss my wide as fuck TV that looked like an broken in half SNES with a huge MEGA BEZEL logo in it. Good times.
>"Retranslation" patch
Soulless
You know that the retranslation is a gayass fanfiction rewrite right?
>You know that the retranslation is a gayass fanfiction rewrite right?
As opposed to the "oficial" translation?
Drooling mongoloid retard.
>Some anons thread earlier about RA got deleted
??
Nice feature. Now if only someone would remove the code scrambler from certain mario world romhacks I could actually play them with runahead
I like this image, it represents Retroarch as the trashcan where videogames go to die.
>can't figure out RA's UI
You Ganker bros really act like you're smart. Use standalone emus if you're really that fucking dumb
