Play etterna if you really want to git gud at keyboard shit. It grades each of your techniques on your account, so you know the exact things to practice. It even ranks songs by each technique category as well as overall.

I'll check that out, thank you. I like the one in OP since you can just play it in the browser which is pretty neat.

If you're playing anything below 7 keys then you should just give up on rhythm games

I am playing 7 keys, no turntable though.

Think of the notes coming at you less as individual things to press and more like "lanes" to keep rhythm on.
Due to the limited amount of lanes, there's only so many patterns of notes to learn, you just memorize them and play them at different speeds to the music's BPM.

It really comes down to just playing on a difficulty until it becomes too easy for you, then moving up a difficulty when that happens, and before you know it you'll be on hard or expert

Find something you enjoy and stick with it. This sounds obvious, but: you will know you enjoy it because you keep coming back to it. A lot of progress in rhythm games is having proper technique, rhythm, and pattern recognition, and the rest is bashing your head against the wall until you're good (practice).

This site is mainly tips for IIDX, but it looks similar enough to what you're playing and kind of covers ideas for rhythm games in general.
If you can't seem to move up in difficulty, I recommend turning on random if the game allows it and playing songs you are comfortable with. Usually, IIDX, I lose a letter grade in scoring by turning on random, it's kind of like DBZ training with weighted clothing (sometimes random will make it easier though, it just depends...it's random).
Anyway I love rhythm games so I'll be in this thread checking it out until it dies after 15 posts.

Thanks for the site rec, at first it kinda seems like bs if you know your rhythm games.
But I guess it's worth a read, he's mistaken on the "translation" for gachioshi though

Does anyone have a link to music from the older beatmania games and perhaps some of the early IIDX entries?

Etterna (https://etternaonline.com/) or Beatoraja (https://github.com/wcko87/beatoraja-english-guide/wiki) are the premier ways to experience VSRGs on keyboard for PC. Anything else is inferior and you are going to have a bad time.

*should specify etterna for 4keys, raja for IIDX/7+1k. Etterna supports bms (7+1k) files but is not mantained at all because nobody uses etterna for it

        >be bemanigay
        >never heard of this
        >play it
        >it's fun
        >now know of a browser rhythm game that I can access from anywhere that isn't flash flash revolution
I'm consistently amazed lately how people just put out good free shit for me to do with my time nowadays, then again, I grew up with flash games, so I guess it's always been a thing, but I appreciate it the most as an adult.

I got clone hero and downloaded all the guitar hero and rock band songs I could. Think it ended being 100GB+ of just songs. Thought I would enjoy it but after a while of playing it just isnt as fun as I remember. Might give my guitar to my nephews and install guitar hero on their wiiu. They go fricking crazy over video games and it makes me happy.

Anyone has a full pack of official Diva songs for PPD? I'm too lazy to download individual songs.
