It's a linear platformer. You progress through the levels one by one, returning to the Bikini Bottom hubworld inbeetween.
There are some collectathon aspects with the sidequests.
I really do admire them getting the same composers, though. It's pretty insane to think that a twenty year old random licensed platformer gets both a remake and a sequel, and that they even go the effort of using the same composers. What other games get that sort of treatment?
