HOW THE FUCK do I beat the Scavenger Hunt trial where you get drones to fight the Scavenger? I cant even survive the top part let alone defeat the scavenger. Whats the trick here?
I just did it a couple hours ago. What I did was open up the door that gives you Arms Race twice, then go kill spiders until you get 3 small drones from the 20 gold chests. By that time, the first elder lemu should spawn, so put your shield down and wipe him out. Beat him and open up the second door and open more chests, wait for the second elder to spawn, beat him and then go down and face the scav. Fight until there's about a minute left, that should give you enough drones and infusion to survive the fight. I won with like 30 seconds left, so you can try to risk it and fight up top for longer if you want

To add on to this, make sure you prioritize healing drones first since you don’t naturally regen. There’s a spot on both sides where you can shoot the elder lemurians without getting close to them, but def focus on gaining as much cash as you can. The biggest hurdle are the sentries that shoot those orbs, as your shield won’t block all of em. Don’t worry about time either, if you get the gold drones you p much melt the scavenger
Drones in the golden chests that cost 200. P sure you can also keep buying and combining drones to make them
That’s another thing btw, keep combining your drones. I focused the cheapest chests first and combined them while moving on to the more expensive ones. Skipped past a set or 2 to get the gold drones and kill scab but I was tight for time
I'm enjoying the game solo but the multiplayer has me a bit disappointed, there's nothing that actually encourages players to play together (in fact splitting up seems to be better overall) and anyone that lags behind ends up in a vicious cycle of dying constantly due to lack of items. Still fun, but it can feel tiresome at times
it's because it's still new. give it a couple of weeks and everyone will have figured out where shit spawns and when.
I just did a couple of multiplayer runs and they were ok but not that great because I'm just picking up items without knowing what they are when you should be leaving items that don't suit your class and vice versa.
i'm having trouble finding the right time to enter the final level, either i enter the final level early and i'm too weak, or i do a few level repeats to improve my build but then the difficulty will scale up too hard
Drifter is the most insane fucking character ever made. The basic attack has bad range, but its only really used for beating the FUCK out of enemies for their trash. The suffocate ability gets you instant half scrap, and the ability to throw scrap is crazy late in the game when you have items. With 2+ alien heads, the entire fucking game is a joke. Temporary item spam is REAL and with 4 drifters on a team, you're practically unkillable. I suspect she'll get nerfed, but I really fucking hope not.
center gup stays large
bottom right medium gup gets broken into small dumped at bottom right
top right gup gets broken into small with 3 dumped in the right pit and 1 in the left
top left gup i think stays medium and goes into the left chamber (maybe goes small and also into left pit, i forget the end)
didn't they sell RoR2 because they ran out of ideas for DLC?
How did they come up with new ideas for this remake of the 1st game if they couldn't do it for the environment that allows more creativity?
>trying to make me feel bad about killing the shit that was attacking me on sight
Fuck off hopoo the endings were about being mutant abominations not >MUH AMINALS!
I always thought risk of rain as a whole was condemning Providence just as much as your shady company since he's mind controlling these aliens to attack you on sight even at great expense to themselves.
The company might be greedy bastards, stealing alien tech to further their own bottom lines, but Providence is actively turning his sanctuary into a war zone and those under his 'protection' into an on demand military. Both take your humanity from you, the company for supplying the mutagens and Providence by forcing you into a situation that demands a violent response if he doesn't kill you outright.
Iirc he isn’t mind controlling them, they’re following him out of loyalty/fear/worship. In fact, it’d be a p big contradiction/plot-whole if he was controlling them bc of the shit w/Mythrix and Aurelinite
The implication in 1 and 2 is that something led the contact light to Petrichor V with the intent to antagonize/eliminate Providence. After all, how did a teleported from the planet get on the ship in the first place?
If I remember right Mythrix created the planet wide teleport network and somehow Providence convinced mythrix to test it first by going to the moon and not turning it on again. So if it can beam you to the planets moon it can probably put you inside of a ship orbiting atmosphere with no issue.
>Aurelinite
Oh you mean HER actions would be contradicted because what SHE does wouldn't make sense? Sounds like you're making a lot of assumptions about HER, chud.
i think it's alright
i haven't played the original but the thing i like the least is the lack of ability to aim shots besides side to side
t. played ~6hrs with a friend before my internet shit out
most games are really lenient with analog inputs like if you're anywhere from a certain range toward the top it'll basically buffer that as an up input. ror doesn't do that so if you're not pressing exactly up on the stick to catch a ladder you miss. it was exactly the same in the first game. can't believe they haven't fixed it. I bet it's literally the same code. anyway just use the dpad.
>second stage >hit mountain shrine >hit teleporter >horde of overloading shining golems spawns on top of me and the electric proc instantly kills me
thanks hopoo
If they didnt update them to ror2s overloading elites theres no real hope for them actually fixing it. I always thoguht they were bad design. Youre basically always going to take dmg from one a god forbid a flying enemy spawns as one
Something is weird with the spawning. I had bosses spawn in the second or third stage. I don't mind the extra loot but in the original that wouldn't happen unless I was slow and usually in stage 5.
In 7 hours I have made it to the 4th map twice and died instantly both times during the Cremator bosses. I seriously do not know how to win this game. RoR2 is a baby game in comparison.
>Run around for about 3 minutes >No items so activate teleporter >Next level, trend sort of continues >Keep getting to Stage 5 with only 7-8 items >Watch friend play the game >Regularly spawns with boxes visible from pod >Regularly ends stage 1 with 6-10 items
What the fuck, am I just an insane lucklet? We are both playing on Monsoon as far as I can tell.
>challenge of the mountain
I find it to be bait about 80% of the time. You have to be really strong to risk more than one boss considering the amount of bullshit that can go wrong.
both your reply and the fact that you answered both confirm that as a yes.

No you're being fucking retarded. Everyone is already aware what the fucking rewards are the difference is that now the rewards are nowhere near worth the risk of being instantly deleted by an overloading or wasting massive amounts of time because double toxic beasts spawned on a platform where you can't shoot them without getting trampled
>umm HUMANITY is the evil one 🙂
nah man these aliens started it, this was self defense. they only have themselves to blame for getting 1vmillioned by a chef robot
Bandits whip and flashbang are fucking great. Never felt so in control of the enemies. Would've had a win on my first run if I didn't walk into one of providence's target attacks like a total fucking jobber
I couldn't imagine using the quickscope one, that one felt awful during the trial. I haven't tried it out in a run but I cannot see it being useful at all.
What the fuck is this challenge. It seems like every single path is just a red herring of bullshit platforming to waste your time.
Go top, get both red whips, and then go through the middle.
this dang ol Pilot challenge to kill ten shits without touching the ground is mildly annoying
I assume I just need to stack the item that gives stacks of the jump skill for it
>Finally unlock Artificer >No hover >Flame Bolt replaced with world's most underwhelming skillshot
Gee, thanks.
Maybe this is a case of git gud but this primary feels incredibly underwhelming. The last thing I want on a character with mobility this poor is a huge blind spot in front of me. Then you place the shot correctly and you're still missing half the damage if the enemy isn't stationary, and you have to wait for the burn to tick for half of THAT damage.
Why not just make the boomerang explode at its peak? Why all these extra steps?
Nano Bomb and Flamethrower feel somewhat decent, at least.
You're supposed to combo basically all of your skills with the ice wall since it keeps grounded enemies in place. Except it basically shatters immediately in loops so you are going to bend your ass over the moment that bugs and birds start spawning, even jellies can be a bitch.
I understand the design, I just think it's shit.
Flying enemies won't care about the wall, enemies that can somehow pierce it won't care, and being an obstacle enemies can actually destroy means you will often be stuck without a wall for a long time.
It doesn't even place the wall in a way where you can immediately start blasting. You have to like take a step back for the glaive sweetspot. At the same time it doesn't seem to have a pushback effect like Enforcer so if things are stacking onto you you can also just miss your setup. Just really awkward.
For a character whose identity revolves around rotating offensive cooldowns, having one cd basically revolve around enabling another of your skills also just feels terrible.
RoR2 Arti had a bunch of silly restrictions and asterisks to her kit as well but at least the damage was always reliably high right in front of you, and the cooldowns were balanced in a way there was rarely complete downtime.
>cooldowns were balanced in a way there was rarely complete downtime.
Im surprised at how many brainlets managed to fail to notice this and started whining about her cooldowns
With that said, they did a fuckup in later ror2 days : The stupid burn rebalance made her lose almost all the flamethrower burn damage. but you make it up with 1 ignition tank and it makes the primary become retardly strong
>Im surprised at how many brainlets managed to fail to notice this and started whining about her cooldowns
I don't think they failed to notice, they just pussy out of using flamethrower in lategame because they're afraid of melee range without a mobility skill when you're honestly mostly fine once your walking speed and vertical mobility get good enough as long as you aren't hugging elites.
Most people I've seen whine about Arti cooldowns switched to Ion Surge when that got added, which leaves a lot of damage and uptime on the table.
Speaking of, the fact that Flamethrower slows you to a crawl is pretty lame too, but I can at least understand why that's there.
She's somehow worse. Her normal attack is absolute dogshit and only does halfway decent damage if you perfectly zone it and this game lacks bands or other similar items to support a burst playstyle. Haven't fucked around with alt skills though
Bros i think mountain challenges might be a trap (at least until you attain godlike power), its not like you can endlessly walk around the bosses like in 2 anymore.
It's currently good, but ROR2 zoomers convinced the devs to dumb down the controls because not being able to move and shoot in different directions gives them anxiety:
>"Hello everyone! We're happy you're all enjoying Risk of Rain Returns! A very popular ask on day 1 was some kind of 'mouse aim' support.
We will be implementing independent horizontal (not full 360) aim options. >---- >We will be writing this feature and implementing a version of horizontal-exclusive mouse aim that will function as follows: >Mouse Users: >The game will have a setting to utilize your cursor position permanently as your horizontal aim direction. This can be disabled.
>Controller/Keyboard Exclusive Users: >The game will have two more mappable features so that controllers and keyboard users can also determine aiming direction independent of movement. This feature is also going to be optional.
Seems so. Of all the things to be outraged about, I feel like "optional setting to make mouse cursor decide aim direction" is so not one of them. It's not even full mouse aim. It's just left or right aim with mouse. It's not forced on or anything, it's just some fucking option.
>every character can now shoot backwards while retreating >huntress is irrelevant >skill is no longer required to kite >"youre just complaining"
Take your pansy-ass back to ror2
Most of them already could before this patch, this just saves you the 1 input to turn around before holding Z and walking away. Huntress is still unique in being at full speed while doing so, and I'm glad she's getting this change because the auto aim sucks ass and always has.
I can almost guarantee that this will not change huntress basic fire behavior, all it will do is affect what the game interprets as your last directional input such that your character will fire in that direction.
Things that are based on enemy positioning such as commandos suppressive fire will also be unaffected
But that's not true. Every other character goes half speed while moving backwards, and huntress goes full speed. And huntress also seems to have some in-built auto aim thing it seems that I didn't notice with commando.
Huntress thanks to that has become a super strong character, that basically never has to stop firing from second 1. If you think there's no reason to pick Huntress over anything else now, you are either retarded, or never played the game.
>And huntress also seems to have some in-built auto aim thing it seems that I didn't notice with commando.
Jesus christ you make it so obvious that you never played ror before.
huntress was always the most easy character dumbass. the only reason people don't play her is because they got tired of winning and wanted a challenge. acrid is just as easy but he needs specific items to be good. huntress can just find what comes along and build around it.
character can now shoot backwards while retreating
Already the case.
Fucking dramawhore you are literally just here to pick fights you have no real opinions at all and don't even play the game if you don't know this very basic thing. have a nice day.
if it were as simple as just stopping your input there'd be a lot less complaints. You have to wait for the entire animation to end, it's annoying and clunky, and there is 0 reason to get mad about a solution to this other than being a contrarian homosexual. If you don't think this stupid shuffle that was not in the original game at all is fun, by all means, keep doing it.
you do realize that adding a control scheme just fucks with the balance of the game right? you don't just add things for the sake of it, games are designed around the sum of it's parts. now what reason is there for huntress to exist.
alternate skills, new items, new enemies, it's going to have workshop support, you can play online without portforwarding and it won't shit itself after that, new survivors.
alright man, thanks. i was pretty hyped for the game but i was holding off to see how it actually turns out. not a lot of content but functioning online and ws support coming up sound good
What counts as "in combat"? Can I just keep one Lemurian alive after the teleport event is over and no more shit will spawn, and turtle in the corner for 5 minutes?
you have to either be attacking or being attacked, same as red whip. Just holding down your primary fire is fine, you don't have to actually be hitting anything.
1) Time is your biggest enemy. Everything gets worse the longer the game goes on.
2)Your jump is your main ability to dodge
3) Its better to find and activate the teleporter then farm for items while you fight the boss
4) Large chest > small chest.
not better. small chests are guaranteed tier 1 items and you really need those. what good is a tier 2 or 3 item if you aren't doing any damage to start with?
what is the gameplan with pilot? he feels very hard to pull off.
Also are any of the characters broken? I've had success on acrid and loader but some people I've seen say they're just busted. Very fun though. But I struggle with anyone else. kinda getting the hang of bandit with all alt skills though
huntress is listed as easy because she is easy. (on the eyes) just grab some goggles, crowbar, infusion, and lots of soldiers syringes/goats hoof. don't bother with items that require you to stand still. ukuleles are great too.
>Risk of Rain Returns filters all the Risk of Rain 2 kiddies >unfortunately they also bring the steam review scores down by bitching that the game is a 2d platformer (like the original game) and that there is no mouse aiming (like the original)
If these retards don't stop I will actually flip out
I know that you're pulling my leg especially since to add free mouse aiming would mean having to seriously rework the game and its mechanics as it was built around shooting in 2 directions
but everyone can already move in this version while shooting? in both directions too. actually play the game.
huntress moves at full speed so she's still way better in that play style.
The original didn't lock you into looking in one direction until the end of the animation, so releasing one direction key and and the primary attack key, then hitting the other direction key and pressing down the primary key again would actually cause you to change directions. Having another input to determine which way you are facing would alleviate this issue, and I honestly believe any of the retards going "but muh original didn't have it, nu gamers are casuls!" have not actually played returns and are just mexican discordtrannies dredging up shit to get mad about. The original did not have the problems it would alleviate.
I know that you're pulling my leg especially since to add free mouse aiming would mean having to seriously rework the game and its mechanics as it was built around shooting in 2 directions
>its mechanics as it was built around shooting in 2 directions
That's how it would be. Nothing about the announcement implies you'd be able to just click on birds to shoot them. You'd just continue shooting horizontally in the direction the mouse is.
feels sluggish, weird new turning mechanics, also >weird new sound effects >graphics look inconsistent, in general worse >animations don't fit the game, too cartoony >new characters are esg inspired (yeah yeah I know, but unfortunately a fat woman and a cripple raise some red flags)
yeah, don't like it too much, but it's not a bad game by any means, just not nearly as good as the original or Starstorm
>weird new sound effects
Like what? The audio in the game is good >graphics look inconsistent, in general worse
The graphics look fine. If you want to make an argument, you need to actually properly word it. >animations don't fit the game, too cartoony
Its a cartoony game. >new characters are esg inspired (yeah yeah I know, but unfortunately a fat woman and a cripple raise some red flags)
Now you're fucking baiting, holy shit. The pilot is some sort of robot/cyborg and the Drifter is a hobo in a bulky jacket. Detoxx from Ganker immediately if you're not baiting for (you)s
>Like what?
that bell sound, also everything sounds softer than the original, kind of "off" >The graphics look fine
yeah, but they look worse, that's just my personal impression. Also, the style is inconsistent. E.g. why the fuck are there castle ruins on one of the first maps??? >cartoony game
no. fuck you. >Now you're fucking baiting, holy shit. The pilot is some sort of robot/cyborg and the Drifter is a hobo in a bulky jacket. Detoxx from Ganker immediately if you're not baiting for (you)s
100% serious. If you can't or don't want to see it, fine. It's less in your face than for example the nagger sheboon in Remnant 2.
really? can't remember that, weird, at least it did not announce every played minute or difficulty change. or did it??? I got 300h in RoR1, really DOESN'T RING A BELL sorry...
>that bell sound, also everything sounds softer than the original, kind of "off"
Question - when was the last time you played the original game? >yeah, but they look worse, that's just my personal impression. Also, the style is inconsistent. E.g. why the fuck are there castle ruins on one of the first maps???
The maps actually look better now and less empty, also you must've missed how the stone colossus boss had basically a castle tower head >100% serious. If you can't or don't want to see it, fine. It's less in your face than for example the nagger sheboon in Remnant 2.
If a cyborg/android character (or just a guy in a weird helmet) and a hobo in a bulky jacket, both of which being small mute pixel characters with 0 lines are actually "esg inspired" to you, then you really should start detoxxing from Gankereddit immediately
>when was the last time you played the original game
good question, a year ago? I am a bit deaf though, unironically lol. Maybe it just sounds different now?
>new characters are esg inspired (yeah yeah I know, but unfortunately a fat woman and a cripple raise some red flags)
its so blatant and obvious that (before you said so) I literally didnt know either of them was a woman, fat or a cripple. you are a brainless retard
i cant fucking beat the plants vs zombies thingy (get off my lawn!)
maybe im retarded since its not even close. i get 500 health but only like 300-400 score out of the 750 required
The difficulty variance for trials is fucking insane.
Half of them can be beaten blindfolded, while the other half require you to play as optimized as possible.
Is the Hyperthreader still in the game? Commando's "three stages without getting hit" achievement gives something else now
I wanna see if the Hyperthreader is still broken
>got to the final teleporter >looped by accident because the button to go to the final level isn't the same as activating the standard teleporter
HOTPOOO I'M GONNA GET YOUUUU
he's slow but fast with the goo
his melee is meant for here and there when you can as it does DOT. use his ranged attack to stun momentarily and use his melee.
he feels slow and weak because once you get his items he's OP as fuck. probably the easiest character in the game if you can find his items literally can't die if you just mash buttons. I forget them now it's been years but just consider everything he does does DOT and ticks each time.
This is definitely harder than what the original ended up being. Even cheesing it with command you don't out-scale it that easily unless you build some really cheesy shit. Just unlocked my former main Miner, can't imagine they removed his i-frames with having to fight all these bullshit overloading flying enemies as melee.
there's like 4 or 5 different missile items, missile drones, etc. just grab some indirect damage when it shows up instead of going straight for pew pew.
Say what you will about Returns, but Providence's final FINAL phase made me shit my pants. Totally didn't expect it. And it's maximum kino overload too. The patterns are kinda fucky though.
just beat him (her? I dunno) on my first attempt on drizzle.
almost killed me with the fat lazer beam when I was down the bottom. don't stand on the bottom.
honestly after a few hours played it feels exactly the same. but less like it's running on shockwave fusion, which is nice. I feel like it really needs extra content that we all wanted for the original back in the day. It's cool though.
Railgunner is fun for loops because damage scales so hard (crit chance gives crit damage instead), commando reskin is really awkward to play and the purple shit they added to stages just makes it less fun.
Played 74 hours of RoR1, 0 hours of RoR2, and so far an hour of the remaster, and it seems like an alright remaster for 12 bucks.
I just don't like that they never fixed the gamebreaking bugs in the original game.
yeah i think it's been upped to balance out the multiple items that lower gravity or give you an extra jump. I don't remember most of those from the original.
How do you use the grapple effectively, anyway? I was able to slingshot myself once and I can't figure out how. Most of the time I'm just dragged into the wall or ceiling.
>DiscordFOMOrapists already ruining the game with their retarded suggestions because theyre too stupid to manually aim
Risk of rain 2 got progressively worse as it updated, sad to see it happen to this game too
characters that can't kill through walls are supposed to lure the cremator into hitting it. Not that Huntress is one, use the bomb.
Oh fuck me, that's kinda retarded. But I guess it worked. Thanks anons.
I was worried they cucked me, because I set it on drizzle. set player damage to max and player damage taken to 10%, because I just wanted to unlock this relic real quick.
>I set it on drizzle. set player damage to max and player damage taken to 10%
I'm surprised doing that doesn't lock you out of challenges. Hell, I'm downright disappointed that there's no unlocks tied to Monsoon.
Monsoon can be pretty challenging. I'm I'd say an average gamer and I had many struggles with Monsoon in this and in RoR2.
Until of course you get the "god items", shit just clicks and you can loop until the game crashes.
RoR2 is for sure easier. But you can still get your ass handed on monsoon if you don't get strong items quickly. Specially on some of the less OP Characters. Engineer for instance usually takes a few runs to get strong,
i swear i cant clear any of the trials past the few in the middle, let alone getting a fucking crown on them
im being filtered left and right by these fucking things god i hate it
I dunno man they seem pretty straightforward to me. basically all of them give you a crown for "mastering" a mechanic and a "pass" for not failing at it completely. not saying they're not hard, the lemurian one just filtered me hardcore, but I know what it's about. I still haven't passed it but I did like how instead of a simple cutoff point between getting rekt and not taking any damage there's actual falloff now. so they've definitely updated some of the game. died so many times to those fuckers in the first one because I was a few pixels off.
The fire barracks has an interactable that asks for a battery. The battery can apparently be found in temple. I theorize that one needs to put the battery in the carry-over chest on the final stage so they can use it in the barracks. I still haven't found the battery myself.
I found the battery, but I didn't know what to do with it.
In the temple, go all the way to the left on the edge of the map. Jump off and there's a small platform on the bottom out of view. It has a chest with the battery in it
One of the fire barracks lay outs has a hidden alcove with a small panel that asks for a battery. Whatever it is, nobody has gotten it yet or posted about it at least.
It makes the game less tedious at the beginning. Though I feel that glass isn't worth using over 200/200 (maybe higher enemy damage I haven't tested it much). People are just used to playing glass since it was the only way to modify damage in the original. Though usually it was paired with making all enemies elite and other artifacts.
Well to be fair, overloading enemies are bugged and too strong atm, hopoo said there's a fix coming soon. And unlike in the original, Glass now disables OSP so glasskeks are fucked lmao
>in the decade that i have been playing
This game just came out though??? And massively rebalanced a bunch of characters so your opinions regarding their RoR1 state are completely irrelevant???
Why? Let people enjoy the game how they want.
Plus: Think of disabled gamers. If you have issues with your hands (or straight up have no hands) why not let them increase their damage and decrease their incoming damage? Seems cool to me. The issue is Ganker only ever thinks of such features of: "What if some scrub who sucks at vidya now manages to clear the game?" Which: A it's super faggy to care about how someone else beat it, and B: that's not the only people using those options.
Personally, I think it would be cool if they added a % slider to affect the timer as well. Also, consider: the sliders go into the opposite direction as well. If you fucking hate yourself, you can set it so that you deal 10% damage, and take 999% extra damage (which I assume is a one shot from basically everything).
>disabled gamers
we both know it's not about being disabled as disabled people have proven time and time again to be able to play and complete difficult games.
Accessibility should be about bridging the input layer between the player and the game and not about the gameplay layer.
For what it's worth, i think horizontal mouse aiming is a fine accessibility option and i really appreciate the anti-mash option as my hands start to hurt.
In the end, Risk of Rain is a game about playing it your way with different difficulties as well as the artifacts completely modifying the way the game is played, so i think having a more granular adjustment option is fine.
>we both know it's not about being disabled as disabled people have proven time and time again to be able to play and complete difficult games.
No, very DEDICATED disabled gamers have proven that they can beat SOME games, with a lot of time and effort, and often grinding for hours/days/weeks on shit you and I do first try. Just because they, with a lot of hard work and determination can beat certain games, doesn't mean we shouldn't have disability features. That's a bit like saying that because that one guy with no legs can walk on his arms like a monkey, we shouldn't have wheelchairs or crutches you know?
I agree that input layer is great. But what if it can't always be solved with input layer? What if a disability is not purely physical? Me personally, I have a hand-eye coordination issue I was diagnosed with as a kid. It's mild enough that I can still play reasonably hard games, but I struggle with specific inputs. for instance: jumping down somewhere and pressing a button at the exact right moment, or using the roulette dispensers is harder for me than for the average gamer. No amount of better input is gonna fix that. If someone has even more difficulty than me, should they just be fucked? What's the harm in letting someone with disabilities put down the damage taken a few %? Nothing really.
And if some fag who has nothing wrong with him uses it as a crutch to beat the game, fucking who cares? Let him. Cheat codes have existed since the early 80s. Tons of people have beaten GTA with cheats, and while I personally think it destroys the experience, nobody has ever gone "Aaah fucking rockstar! Putting health and ammo cheats into their games! Ruining the game by spawning a tank!"
Caring how someone else plays their game is the most homosexual thing on the planet honestly.
Difficulty as accessibility isn't about helping cripples, it's about making games easier to play for politically motivated shitstains who have no love of the medium outside of its use as a vessel for progressive values

Some fucking people have expressed wanting "games without combat that just give you the story" yes. But the reason I'm saying take your meds is: The driving force behind that are not fucking "wokes" Jesus Christ. All kinds of people have all kinds of shit ideas.
David Cage games have for decades been mocked as "basically interactive movies". Is that as a result of being overly woke?
The fact is: Wokelords also enjoy good video games with good gameplay and challenge and whatnot.
I mean fuck, we can turn that argument around: How many right wingers blame games for all evil in society? How many right wingers blame games for destroying the youth? How many right wingers think video games are just bad in general? A fucking metric shitton of them. Is it fair to say that the right wants to destroy video games? Well, we have a better argument for the right to want to destroy them than wokefags, because wokefags only want DIFFERENT kinds of video games, while right wing fags think video games are bad for you no matter what, as instead of playing video games you should be working and having kids. But obviously the answer is fucking no: because there's tons of rightoids who fucking love video games, and dedicate their life to crying on youtube when a video game is not right wing enough for them.
Same shit on the left. Some leftfag, or even just a fucking liberal has a shit idea about making games movies but worse, and you are actively retarded enough to think: "Oh, this one fat woman expresses the views of everyone woke, they must want to kill the game industry".
That is why I told you to take your fucking meds. Now take them Anon.

WoW had someone with this job/title and they still got shit wrong anyway. I don't care about LE WOMAN, but unless the person is a hyper autist or relying on some kind of heavily detailed guide they're inevitably going to get something wrong or retcon something and piss everyone off. I feel bad for her more than anything
Remind me - should I be rushing teleporters ASAP or clearing every level of chests as thoroughly as I can?
Compared to RoR2 I think time management matters significantly more in RoR1 (which is also part of the reason I like the game more). Like other anons are saying, turn on the teleporter and check for anything that's around instead of saving it for the very end

Well written but still not relevant
I have my own arguments against difficulty settings as a whole but none of that changes the fact that the framing of difficulty as an "accessibility" issue is purely political in nature
Not everybody who wants accessibility is woke, and not everybody who wants difficulty options is woke, but pretty much every single person who frames difficulty as an accessibility issue has a political agenda
You either recognize this pattern from basic observation or you don't

I think this anon worded it very well.
It is mainly about how "accessibility" is framed.
A big example to accessibility =/= difficulty are modern nintendo games, which are often notoriously easy and simplified while offering you a lot of assist mechanics yet actively avoid customizable controls, text/language settings, alternates to motion controls etc. which means if you are not comfortable with the default way you interact with the game, you're out of luck.
Nintendo games do a lot of work to hit a wider audience, yet they are actively anti accessibility
there's nothing wrong with difficulty options in ror but cheating GTA is just fucked. single or multiplayer. the game hands you everything you need to win, on a plate. all you need is some time and ingenuity.
More options is always more cool.
>disabled gamers
we both know it's not about being disabled as disabled people have proven time and time again to be able to play and complete difficult games.
Fucking rare to see a legitimate discussion on Ganker, good shit.
>maps are even bigger (read: somehow even more empty) >providence trials are obnoxious as fuck, but progression is horribly paced if you don't do them >this is exacerbated because you start out with basically nothing >attack moving now exists, but is a clunky mess >vines >birds >basically no new music, the greatly advertised "remastered" soundtrack sounds fucking identical
All in all, leaning towards a 5/10 or a 6/10 at the moment. Actually would have refunded it already but I bought a CD key so sadly not an option.
>Hopoo is fucking clueless
The biggest sign of incompetence is the fucking one shot protection. The Idea that you can't lose more than say 99% of your health in a single hit is great. The Idea that if you get a slow regen shield, and it now counts as your total health, meaning if you don't have the shield you can always get one shotted, is fucking retarded. It makes shield items an active detriment to your build. And they never should be.
>lore master >gave the "female" golem a gender and story >providence in trailer, not in the dlc
Well. There goes the neighborhood.
Thanks for doing shit we never asked for when all we need is more game content to play.
something about the way they talk feels like a bungie/destiny vidoc
either way this at least looks more interesting than survivors of the void and if the stages and characters are cool then i wont be complaining ill complain if any new music is shit though
all this talk about "lore" tickles me the wrong way.
Lore always felt like a supplementary thing to Risk of Rain rather than the main focus.
The new area does look cool and i like the day/night thing but in the end it will matter how fun the DLC is
>maps are even bigger (read: somehow even more empty)
Theyre fine adapt, use your movement abilites, if you aren't on monsoon time is a non-issue anyway >providence trials are obnoxious as fuck, but progression is horribly paced if you don't do them
These are fun as hell and you literally don't have to do them if you don't want to >this is exacerbated because you start out with basically nothing
oh damn, like the OG? fucking retard >attack moving now exists, but is a clunky mess
Retard >vines
The enemies? Annoying but not difficult in anyway just dodge properly >birds
Fuck these naggers >basically no new music, the greatly advertised "remastered" soundtrack sounds fucking identical
The added tracks are bad, and everyone would have complained if the remastered tracks were different, its unironically good that those haven't changed
>These are fun as hell and you literally don't have to do them if you don't want to
I have enjoyed most of them but man, the ones that suck, really suck.
I feel like part of the problem for me is I've been exposed to a lot more roguelites since the original released. Still love the general vibe of the game but it's definitely a bit brainless compared to some of the other stuff on offer
I was also kinda hoping for the stages to be rebalanced a bit, the caverns still feel like ass compared to meadows
I agree with all of this and also will add that the game is extremely visually cluttered. It is basically impossible to parse your screen beyond 20 minutes because of all the particle effect vomit, particularly because elites spawn constantly now. Lmao at the screen shake too, instantly disabled that shit.
>progression is horribly paced if you don't do them
I've played 2 games with Pilot and unlocked 2 of his 3 challenges by accident. Maybe you're just filtered.
>maps are even bigger (read: somehow even more empty)
They literally feel the same as before, when was the last time you played risky? Are you the same nagger that couldn't recognise the fucking bell sound? >providence trials are obnoxious as fuck, but progression is horribly paced if you don't do them
Providence trials are actually a pretty fun way to do unlocks and you're free to grind if you don't want to do them to unlock skills >this is exacerbated because you start out with basically nothing
SO LITERALLY RISK OF RAIN?! HAVE YOU EVEN PLAYED THE GAME BEFORE YOU nagger >attack moving now exists, but is a clunky mess
works fine >vines
they're fine >birds
they're fine, if you can't deal with flying enemies then it means you never played risk of rain 1 either >basically no new music, the greatly advertised "remastered" soundtrack sounds fucking identical
you'd complain about the music being shit and "souless" anyway
>Providence trials are actually a pretty fun way to do unlocks and you're free to grind if you don't want to do them to unlock skills >Lava hop trials, drone trials enter the room
The new graphics make no difference because you're still forced to use the zoomed out camera to not miss any chests and to not waste time looking for the teleporter.
this really wasn't that hard, you can skip huge chunks at the beginning and in the middle by using air strike to gain height, the only somewhat hard thing is that obstacle near the end of the top path.
yeah, that's what i meant. it's not too hard. the level is short so it's fine, it reminded me of super meat boy.
the golds that are a real pain in the ass are ones that take a long time per attempt like the one where you have to fight that buffed scavenger with enforcer after 3 minutes of farming. i was short by 1 second
Ok, I beat it by taking a slightly different route, and also getting lucky that I angled perfectly around some obstacles. But yeah, the enforcer ones are bullshit. I can't even beat that one or the lemurian one.
i like playing acrid and engie. but its so rng for these characters because if you don't get backup magazine for acrid, or fungus for engie, then the runs get really fucking hard.
>red whip activates when you don't take damage or attack for a few seconds
Lads I've coated like half the big ass bridge in the snowfields in one acrid puddle you go so fast all the time now
Because most of the time the game will waste your time by spacing out chests a lot, hiding the teleporter far away from your spawn point, and giving you very few enemies to kill early in the game so you can't get any items, and if you don't get any broken green/red items by the 3rd stage you're pretty much dead.
>Playing with friend who has only played 2 >We hit 2 mountain shrines feeling like hot shit on stage 3 >Overloading Magma Worm is our just desserts
At least he got to experience it now. The one in 2 is no where near as deadly.
Items across the board are significantly weaker, which is a terrible change.
Once the honeymoon phase is over, people will be a lot more negative towards RORR.
>Items across the board are significantly weaker, which is a terrible change.
I'm suddenly reliving every ror2 patch where hotpoo nerfed all the fun each time
I noticed that too, especially with the reds. I got the Ceremonial Dagger, Happiest Mask, Brilliant Behemoth and the MK-II Missile last run and it felt barely noticeable when all of these were run carriers in RoR1. Gay as fuck
I got a dagger early and the damage was really shit yeah, also the projectiles will immediately fade out if there are no targets, you don't get the cascade effect anymore of projectiles accumulating.
More characters, larger maps, more items, unlockable alt costumes and moves, final boss is reworked and has a new phase, some new enemies, reworked controls (for both better and worse). It has a much better multiplayer lobby and is far more stable in multiplayer now.
>can loop reliably on monsoon >cant beat most trials, especially the platform timetrials
im not even using any artifacts or changing the damage modifiers, are the trials just overly cursed? most seem like they're just unfun specific puzzles you have to slam your head against until you find the right way to beat the map
Are the dev's going to add more levels/variations? I'm starting to notice the same levels every run now, idk why i thought this game was procedurally generated beforehand
you get two or so alternate levels per stage to roll randomly but they are 95% the same each time. the only different will be different breaks in the floors, ropes added/removed, small shit like that
Probably not. The game has always been a handful of stages with a few variations each.
2 had it worse, as the stages were almost always static besides item placement. Mods helped with that by adding more. Hopefully we get more fun stage mods in RoRR but its probably harder to make a really nice looking 2D map in this style.
aw shit there's already a thread up.
Anybody watch that awkward 10 year vid they made?
How do you feel about gearbox pushing a fucking mobile game?
What are your fears about a possible ror3 that doesn't even involve hopoo?
I am going to assume anything coming to 2 and future games are trash unless I am shown otherwise. If the 2 DLC ends up good and the devs work on a 3 then maybe. I do have trouble believing Gearbox won't just shove millions of transactions into whatever they make. If we see a mainline RoR with a battle pass I am going to give up isntantly.
>How do you feel about gearbox pushing a fucking mobile game?
I don't feel anything, I had my fun with ror1 and early unpozzed ror2 so now i'm pretty much done with the series.
>What are your fears about a possible ror3 that doesn't even involve hopoo?
considering they are making DLC for 2 right now i dont think a third entry is coming anytime soon
I would purposely try to kill him with the funballs or steal his items or use the colored text glitch to pretend to be him and make him say stupid shit.
From my experience it uses whatever the entire group has unlocked. When I played with a friend it used items he had unlocked that I hadn't and vise versa.
the game pools everyone's artifacts and items together now, no need for host to unlock absolutely everything.
however, Ganker rules are pretty much unplayable right now due to bugged overloading range and terrible sacrifice drop rates.
How do I avoid the imp overlord's charge attack? it seems impossible if you arent playing a character with iframe and dont have a ladder anywhere near you
Abuse the terrain by standing higher than him, dropping off ledges and using jump pads, the game is straight up unfair if you try to play by the rules.
So what do I need to do to make this game actually fun? Because currently I'm just crawling around these enormous stages killing bullet sponges waiting to get enough cash to buy dogshit items until the enemy swarms become too large to manage. Should I focus on unlocking items so I'm not getting garbage all the time or is this a case where I need artifacts/different intensity settings to fix it?
broken?
by the way are there any fun fast-paced (kinda lol) movement characters? I'm asking cuz I don't know shit about the character reworks they made and new characters
I suppose it is because loader can be invincible with a significant uptime and since it counts as secondary instead of utility for some reason you can easily grab backup mags to push the uptime even further
Whenever a company "remakes" a game, I make a habit to immediately replay the original so I'll never have the urge to buy and support terrible behavior.
I agree tbh. Risky 2 has the one problem some indie games have, where anything made later on has much higher quality visuals than everything else (A Hat In Time vs both of its DLCs for example).
Like fuck's sake, Artificer still has 12 poly hands, doing a model+texture refresh on the EA release survivors and enemies would do wonders.
activate it asap, time is ticking and doing the teleporter gives you enough money to buy every chest on the map.
if anyone complains about this, they're a shitter and should be disregarded.
Is Bandit's smokebomb broken? I swear, sometimes it just deactivates immediately even though I'm not shooting, taking damage or pressing the button again.
How do you shoot backwards while moving? Just saw a huntress do it on stream, but I can't do it. You have to turn your whole body to shoot, aiming and shooting aren't independent and it just feels bad.
Huntress aims at nearby enemies automatically.
Future patch will allow turning while attacking.
>future patch will allow turning while attacking
Good.
Stop using your mouse and switch to keyboard only, zoom zoom
Most characters you can hold the button and go back, but its very slow. For Huntress, it is specifically her ability to auto-fire in the direction of enemies while moving at full speed.
Was RoR like this? I don't remember. RoR 2 spoiled me rotten bros, feels really bad and doesn't make sense when there's a cursor on screen, but you're still shooting in the direction you're moving
Most characters you can hold the button and go back, but its very slow. For Huntress, it is specifically her ability to auto-fire in the direction of enemies while moving at full speed.
>Use classic controls >Friends who started it react with confusion and horror to this >Try out other schemes and they feel like shit
I think I just played the original too much to ever change the binds.
Anyone else getting a random pause here and there when playing? I get full 60 fps but I have experienced three 1s game pauses and one 5-10s game pause.
I'm on a 4090FE/7950X3D/3440x1440p
Anyone else getting a random pause here and there when playing? I get full 60 fps but I have experienced three 1s game pauses and one 5-10s game pause.
I'm on a 4090FE/7950X3D/3440x1440p
Its only like 14 bucks so I bought it, and I'm happy with it. It's RoR1 with better graphics and animations, a functional multiplayer gamemode, and a few new characters and stuff. I'm happy.
Depends on the difficulty.
But in general I would say stay on a level for 3-4 minutes max.
If you have decent items, just rush the teleporter and try to find a few nearby chests before leaving.
Not an expert, but I think it's generally considered best to go for the teleport as quick as you can. RoRR over RoR2 is nice because you don't have to stay ON the teleporter, so you can run around a bit, use the influx of enemies and the 90 second timer to open what's in the vicinity.
But it tends to fluctuate. Did you run around a stage for 5 minutes and found 2 chests? That kinda sucks. Did you take a quick detour and opened 4? That's worth.
I watched some video someone checking it out and he had a problem grabbing onto the vines and ropes to climb. Was he just shit or is that an issue compared to the original?
>artifer complete garbage since release in risky 2 >community yells at hopoo every patch to revamp her >put her in 1 >shes just as bad
LMAO its almost like design wise shes trash and needed an overhaul why did hotpoo hate artificer so much
I played Miner a bunch in the original and I have no clue how the overheat shit works all I know is that X brings enemies with me instead of a piercing charged stun and that sucks ass
When you're in heat you can tap spam X for free and fly around like a maniac through enemies and never take damage. unlock the alternate primary skill that throws axes and in heat they pierce. he's really good. feel it out it's pretty intuitive. building heat with the thrown axes is really easy too
it's basically >hit enemies until heat is full >secondary and special become empowered, consume heat instead of having a cooldown >go on a drill spamming rampage until heat is empty >repeat
Does anyone know if beating Providence with all the artifacts on the bottom of the bridge on does anything? I don't remember this from the OG game, but it's been awhile.
Damage sliders are such a shit option to have
It's like the dev threw up their hands and said "fuck it I don't know what the fuck I'm doing, somebody else balance my game for me"
It's very lackluster. Quite frankly don't see why this was made outside of it being an obvious cashgrab of course. I expected a remake of RoR1 to at the very least modernize it - vastly improved platforming, an actual physics engine, savequitting, more QoL like a map screen, chest icons appearing offscreen when you enter a certain range so you're not handicapped playing at 2x zoom - but it's just RoR1 with a very minor new coat of paint and in some ways even more tedious than the original.
>I'm not buying RoRR and I never will >but here is my opinion on what should be done with it even though I have no idea what problems it has that need to be confronted since I'm a stupid bitch who thinks it plays the same as RoR1
providence feels easier, and his final phase is honestly pretty lame. He still feels like he stands still all the time and teleports from time to time instead of being fast. final phase ost wasnt as good as Precipitation too
If you ask me, it should have been made harder and a monsoon exclusive
>artificer's gimmick in this is to block enemies with her wall to zone with her retarded m1 that as a minimum arming distance for some reason >the problematic and very lethal enemies you have to watch out for can just bypass her wall entirely >all of her kit revolves around standing still and shitting out damage with big knockback to remain safe >elites are practically immune to knockback so they can and will just bypass the wall and kill you because you are stuck in the animation
do they just not know how the game plays or something? her kit is retarded for a game like this and will get you killed 100% of the time
its very slow compared to the old
How is that possible, I found the og extremely slow and after trying glass I wasn't able to go back.
Don’t worry about time either, if you get the gold drones you p much melt the scavenger
what are the gold drones?
Drones in the golden chests that cost 200. P sure you can also keep buying and combining drones to make them
That’s another thing btw, keep combining your drones. I focused the cheapest chests first and combined them while moving on to the more expensive ones. Skipped past a set or 2 to get the gold drones and kill scab but I was tight for time
>overloaded magma worm x 4
AJFDGHBLKFDSHHGF
WHERE ARE THE MOODS HOPOO, WHERE IS MY BUG WAIFU?, I SWEAR TO GO IM GONNA KMS IF HE DONT MAKE MODS COMPATIBLE THIS MONTH
You split to explore the level and rejoin at the teleporter. That's always how RoR multiplayer goes
it's because it's still new. give it a couple of weeks and everyone will have figured out where shit spawns and when.
I just did a couple of multiplayer runs and they were ok but not that great because I'm just picking up items without knowing what they are when you should be leaving items that don't suit your class and vice versa.
>and anyone that lags behind ends up in a vicious cycle of dying constantly due to lack of items
that was always a problem
At least now you have a little cope drone to keep you occupied until your next insta-death from the lack of items and experience.
I cant seem to beat the final level. I had what I thought was a good run but something about the totem boss at the end I cant beat it
i'm having trouble finding the right time to enter the final level, either i enter the final level early and i'm too weak, or i do a few level repeats to improve my build but then the difficulty will scale up too hard
I suspect she'll get nerfed, but I really fucking hope not.
my gorgeous wife (she gave me 12x items in under 10 seconds)
Impossible to unlock this fat slut - drone recyclers are fukken rarer than Red drops
just play MP they're in literally every game
why do you straigh mfks have to stole our sexy chubs
I'm gonna pirate the original
here you go
http://www.mediafire.com/file/1o48wphik2m2i3d/Risk.of.Rain.v1.3.0.zip/file
It's Risk of Rain.
Anyone beat this? I don't understand where they should go
center gup stays large
bottom right medium gup gets broken into small dumped at bottom right
top right gup gets broken into small with 3 dumped in the right pit and 1 in the left
top left gup i think stays medium and goes into the left chamber (maybe goes small and also into left pit, i forget the end)
Look at the stone statues on each floor.
Large statues mean a large Gup, Medium statues mean medium etc
didn't they sell RoR2 because they ran out of ideas for DLC?
How did they come up with new ideas for this remake of the 1st game if they couldn't do it for the environment that allows more creativity?
Does clover even work with honor? It doesn't feel like shit's dropping at anywhere near 4%
Holy soulless.
>trying to make me feel bad about killing the shit that was attacking me on sight
Fuck off hopoo the endings were about being mutant abominations not
>MUH AMINALS!
..and so he left, his sovl left in the past.
looks ai generated.
Worse than 2 but still decent fun.
If you can't run 2 then play this.
it is INCREDIBLY boring
Pretty good. They reworked Miner and made him even more of a chad.
i think it's alright
i haven't played the original but the thing i like the least is the lack of ability to aim shots besides side to side
t. played ~6hrs with a friend before my internet shit out
Risk of Rain more like Risk of Dropped Inputs lmao
Sounds like somebody is pressing buttons simultaneously...
OG doesn't have this problem
Yes it does secondary
it still has the same problem as in the original with controllers. do not use the analog stick unless you like looking like a retard
What problem is that? Does using the analog stick fuck up your inputs or something?
most games are really lenient with analog inputs like if you're anywhere from a certain range toward the top it'll basically buffer that as an up input. ror doesn't do that so if you're not pressing exactly up on the stick to catch a ladder you miss. it was exactly the same in the first game. can't believe they haven't fixed it. I bet it's literally the same code. anyway just use the dpad.
Gotcha, thanks.
is the new content worth it? did they add new maps?
no new maps but lots of new variants for the old ones
Is it just me but elites are spawning more in comparison to the original? They are ripping me a new asshole, still fun but damn.
I'm waiting for the first patch to fix shock elites.
Overloaded magma worms are the reason I don't loop right now.
>second stage
>hit mountain shrine
>hit teleporter
>horde of overloading shining golems spawns on top of me and the electric proc instantly kills me
thanks hopoo
If they didnt update them to ror2s overloading elites theres no real hope for them actually fixing it. I always thoguht they were bad design. Youre basically always going to take dmg from one a god forbid a flying enemy spawns as one
Something is weird with the spawning. I had bosses spawn in the second or third stage. I don't mind the extra loot but in the original that wouldn't happen unless I was slow and usually in stage 5.
In 7 hours I have made it to the 4th map twice and died instantly both times during the Cremator bosses. I seriously do not know how to win this game. RoR2 is a baby game in comparison.
holy fuck dude. rush the tele, scout as much as you can on the way there, open boxes. it's that simple. every second you waste makes the game harder.
>Run around for about 3 minutes
>No items so activate teleporter
>Next level, trend sort of continues
>Keep getting to Stage 5 with only 7-8 items
>Watch friend play the game
>Regularly spawns with boxes visible from pod
>Regularly ends stage 1 with 6-10 items
What the fuck, am I just an insane lucklet? We are both playing on Monsoon as far as I can tell.
skill issue
in ror1 you get to know where things are going to be. if you can't see them, it's because they're somewhere else.
Getting fucked by the interactables placement is part of the Original Experience™.
The goal is to activate the teleporter as fast as possible. Difficulty scales with time, not levels

>challenge of the mountain
>overloading imp boss
what the fuck, that didn't happen in the original.
>challenge of the mountain
I find it to be bait about 80% of the time. You have to be really strong to risk more than one boss considering the amount of bullshit that can go wrong.
no shit. that's why it's a challenge
Yes but worth the challenge if you can pull it off. More items.
are you autistic?
don't answer that.
What are you on about? I was clarifying why anyone would do challenge of the mountain.
both your reply and the fact that you answered both confirm that as a yes.
Oh, so you just want to shitpost and be edgy. Got it. Carry on.
No you're being fucking retarded. Everyone is already aware what the fucking rewards are the difference is that now the rewards are nowhere near worth the risk of being instantly deleted by an overloading or wasting massive amounts of time because double toxic beasts spawned on a platform where you can't shoot them without getting trampled
it's pure kino
cinema if you will
>umm HUMANITY is the evil one 🙂
nah man these aliens started it, this was self defense. they only have themselves to blame for getting 1vmillioned by a chef robot
Sorry anon, but the company all the characters work for is run by a death cult.
>glass run
>bird kill you and your drone one hit
FUCK THE BIRD
Bandits whip and flashbang are fucking great. Never felt so in control of the enemies. Would've had a win on my first run if I didn't walk into one of providence's target attacks like a total fucking jobber
What's the alt sniper backflip?
Damn, most likely not worth it but that's kinda cool.
Its not bad, using all the alt skills changes the feel of sniper alot. Interesting but not as fun personally.
I couldn't imagine using the quickscope one, that one felt awful during the trial. I haven't tried it out in a run but I cannot see it being useful at all.
Go top, get both red whips, and then go through the middle.
Am I imagining things or are the UI and item sprites smaller/darker than the original RoR?
this dang ol Pilot challenge to kill ten shits without touching the ground is mildly annoying
I assume I just need to stack the item that gives stacks of the jump skill for it
I just used glass artifact to do it on the first stage.
The game crashed the moment I got it so it didn't get saved. Thanks, hotpoo.
>I just used glass artifact
you didn't beat it
Impossible not to get that eventually in later stages when enemies get dense
>Finally unlock Artificer
>No hover
>Flame Bolt replaced with world's most underwhelming skillshot
Artie was always bad, so it's expected she sucks here too
is huntress still thicc or no buy?
Is Artificer good yet?
she's not thick anymore so no.
she was great but high skill / iq in ror2
now shes kinda bad
She's somehow worse. Her normal attack is absolute dogshit and only does halfway decent damage if you perfectly zone it and this game lacks bands or other similar items to support a burst playstyle. Haven't fucked around with alt skills though
>risk of rain
>no rain
>he doesn't know
once it's raining there is no "risk" of rain, it is simply happening
is sniper in?
Of course. The entire OG team is back, plus Arti and two new guys, Drifter and Pilot.
>Overloading boss spawns on top of me
>die about 2 frames later
okay
Why yes I do enjoy getting RSIes.
>challenge of the mountain
>3 ifrits
>they summon 3 walls to lock you in and you die in seconds
Bros i think mountain challenges might be a trap (at least until you attain godlike power), its not like you can endlessly walk around the bosses like in 2 anymore.
Engi's turrets being able to use the hourglass is fucking retarded and I love it.
>----
>We will be writing this feature and implementing a version of horizontal-exclusive mouse aim that will function as follows:
>Mouse Users:
>The game will have a setting to utilize your cursor position permanently as your horizontal aim direction. This can be disabled.
>Controller/Keyboard Exclusive Users:
>The game will have two more mappable features so that controllers and keyboard users can also determine aiming direction independent of movement. This feature is also going to be optional.
Maximum casual mode
Drizzle, 200% damage dealt, 10% damage taken, mouse aim.
And they will still demand more.
risk of rain 2 was genuinely a fucking mistake
What's the issue with that? Just lets you pick a direction to shoot at. You fags will whine about everything.
People who can't afford $10 to buy the game but want to participate in the threads have to find something to be outraged over.
Seems so. Of all the things to be outraged about, I feel like "optional setting to make mouse cursor decide aim direction" is so not one of them. It's not even full mouse aim. It's just left or right aim with mouse. It's not forced on or anything, it's just some fucking option.
it's relevant in this case because huntress was based around that ability and that was her "thing"
>every character can now shoot backwards while retreating
>huntress is irrelevant
>skill is no longer required to kite
>"youre just complaining"
Take your pansy-ass back to ror2
>Every character can crawl backwards while shooting
>Only huntress can move full speed
But yeah its the same thing.
shush anon nobody here actually plays the games they bitch about
Most of them already could before this patch, this just saves you the 1 input to turn around before holding Z and walking away.
Fucking dramawhore you are literally just here to pick fights you have no real opinions at all and don't even play the game if you don't know this very basic thing. have a nice day.
>halt inputs after distancing yourself from enemies
>press the direction enemies are in
>attack
duuuurrrrrrr dooooiiiiii huuurrrrrr
if it were as simple as just stopping your input there'd be a lot less complaints.
She can kite much faster.
Nice option, will use it for sure.
HOST FUCKING WHEN?
Yes.
Pilot is the coolest character.
What are the reasons to get this game over just playing ROR1?
alternate skills, new items, new enemies, it's going to have workshop support, you can play online without portforwarding and it won't shit itself after that, new survivors.
should i wait out for a better sale/workshop implementation/updates?
if you want, it's literally just risk of rain 1.5 so waiting for updates will probably be more worth
alright man, thanks. i was pretty hyped for the game but i was holding off to see how it actually turns out. not a lot of content but functioning online and ws support coming up sound good
Just to clarify, workshop is not a thing just yet. Soon, apparently, but not now.
I'm hoping to see my boy House back
it'll probably be discounted again at christmas.
Is it just me or did they speed the timer up?
Enforcer players must take their meds
What counts as "in combat"? Can I just keep one Lemurian alive after the teleport event is over and no more shit will spawn, and turtle in the corner for 5 minutes?
you have to either be attacking or being attacked, same as red whip. Just holding down your primary fire is fine, you don't have to actually be hitting anything.
Never played RoR
Give advice
Survive.
Go to settings, change zoom scale to 1x.
You can now see the game. Go nuts.
holy fuck thank you, now i actually stand a chance of finding the tele in less than 3 days
Thanks this helped a ton
Although it annoys me slightly knowing that monitor resolution so profoundly affects the difficulty of the game
I did this and I suddenly started enjoying the game
It's set to 1x by default.
Why are all of these replies acting like it wasn't?
dont try to 100% explore every level, just get your chests and GTFO
the timer does not play around
Get sacrifice as soon as possible because chests are for homosexuals.
jumping can dodge more that you would expect it to
1) Time is your biggest enemy. Everything gets worse the longer the game goes on.
2)Your jump is your main ability to dodge
3) Its better to find and activate the teleporter then farm for items while you fight the boss
4) Large chest > small chest.
not better. small chests are guaranteed tier 1 items and you really need those. what good is a tier 2 or 3 item if you aren't doing any damage to start with?
git gud
fuck shrines. go for chests first.
what is the gameplan with pilot? he feels very hard to pull off.
Also are any of the characters broken? I've had success on acrid and loader but some people I've seen say they're just busted. Very fun though. But I struggle with anyone else. kinda getting the hang of bandit with all alt skills though
huntress is listed as easy because she is easy. (on the eyes) just grab some goggles, crowbar, infusion, and lots of soldiers syringes/goats hoof. don't bother with items that require you to stand still. ukuleles are great too.
and don't stand still.
where rex
I still didn't beat the game.
i wish sniper's primary pierced enemies
it's not like he one shots anything with it anyways
>it's not like he one shots anything with it anyways
WRONG
glass is for shitters
Pick up crowbars you silly
>Risk of Rain Returns filters all the Risk of Rain 2 kiddies
>unfortunately they also bring the steam review scores down by bitching that the game is a 2d platformer (like the original game) and that there is no mouse aiming (like the original)
If these retards don't stop I will actually flip out
They're adding mouse aiming anon. For accessibility. It's offensive to not have mouse aiming in 2023.
I know that you're pulling my leg especially since to add free mouse aiming would mean having to seriously rework the game and its mechanics as it was built around shooting in 2 directions
He means they're adding a horizontal mouse aim, you shoot towards the side your cursor is at, nothing else.
When everyone's Huntress, no one will be.
but everyone can already move in this version while shooting? in both directions too. actually play the game.
huntress moves at full speed so she's still way better in that play style.
The original did not have the problems it would alleviate.
>its mechanics as it was built around shooting in 2 directions
That's how it would be. Nothing about the announcement implies you'd be able to just click on birds to shoot them. You'd just continue shooting horizontally in the direction the mouse is.
Only a shill would care about the game's review score.
feels sluggish, weird new turning mechanics, also
>weird new sound effects
>graphics look inconsistent, in general worse
>animations don't fit the game, too cartoony
>new characters are esg inspired (yeah yeah I know, but unfortunately a fat woman and a cripple raise some red flags)
yeah, don't like it too much, but it's not a bad game by any means, just not nearly as good as the original or Starstorm
wait does this game actually have a bbw, how do i unlock the fuckmeat?
>weird new sound effects
Like what? The audio in the game is good
>graphics look inconsistent, in general worse
The graphics look fine. If you want to make an argument, you need to actually properly word it.
>animations don't fit the game, too cartoony
Its a cartoony game.
>new characters are esg inspired (yeah yeah I know, but unfortunately a fat woman and a cripple raise some red flags)
Now you're fucking baiting, holy shit. The pilot is some sort of robot/cyborg and the Drifter is a hobo in a bulky jacket. Detoxx from Ganker immediately if you're not baiting for (you)s
>Like what?
that bell sound, also everything sounds softer than the original, kind of "off"
>The graphics look fine
yeah, but they look worse, that's just my personal impression.
It's less in your face than for example the nagger sheboon in Remnant 2.
>that bell sound
that's in the original game newfag
really? can't remember that, weird, at least it did not announce every played minute or difficulty change. or did it??? I got 300h in RoR1, really DOESN'T RING A BELL sorry...
it literally does whenever the difficulty changes, theres even a mod for ror2 that puts it back
>doesn't even know the bell sound is in the original
(you)
>that bell sound, also everything sounds softer than the original, kind of "off"
Question - when was the last time you played the original game?
>yeah, but they look worse, that's just my personal impression. Also, the style is inconsistent. E.g. why the fuck are there castle ruins on one of the first maps???
The maps actually look better now and less empty, also you must've missed how the stone colossus boss had basically a castle tower head
>100% serious. If you can't or don't want to see it, fine. It's less in your face than for example the nagger sheboon in Remnant 2.
Maybe it just sounds different now?
>new characters are esg inspired (yeah yeah I know, but unfortunately a fat woman and a cripple raise some red flags)
its so blatant and obvious that (before you said so) I literally didnt know either of them was a woman, fat or a cripple. you are a brainless retard
i cant remember the last time i found a crowbar
i cant fucking beat the plants vs zombies thingy (get off my lawn!)
maybe im retarded since its not even close. i get 500 health but only like 300-400 score out of the 750 required
Yeah some of these trials are bullshit.
The difficulty variance for trials is fucking insane.
Half of them can be beaten blindfolded, while the other half require you to play as optimized as possible.
>60 fps lock
what the fuck, why?
Switch and Steamdeck ready!
>zoomers pissing themselves because they can't get 240 frames in the pixel game thats animated at 60 fps
Because gamemaker
Is the Hyperthreader still in the game? Commando's "three stages without getting hit" achievement gives something else now
I wanna see if the Hyperthreader is still broken
It's in the trials.
Wack, thanks bro
Finally unlocked the Pilot, he's fun af
>got to the final teleporter
>looped by accident because the button to go to the final level isn't the same as activating the standard teleporter
HOTPOOO I'M GONNA GET YOUUUU
You can enter the final stage from any teleporter after stage 4, it's not like RoR2
>overloading enemy spawns right next to me
>dead before I can move away
bros this is my first time playing anything ror.
what am i supposed to do with acrid? he feels so slow and weak.
Slime the floor, stun enemies on your floor, press V at groups.
he's slow but fast with the goo
his melee is meant for here and there when you can as it does DOT. use his ranged attack to stun momentarily and use his melee.
You sorta just rely on passively killing enemies until they're grouped for your other abilities
he feels slow and weak because once you get his items he's OP as fuck. probably the easiest character in the game if you can find his items literally can't die if you just mash buttons. I forget them now it's been years but just consider everything he does does DOT and ticks each time.
This is definitely harder than what the original ended up being. Even cheesing it with command you don't out-scale it that easily unless you build some really cheesy shit. Just unlocked my former main Miner, can't imagine they removed his i-frames with having to fight all these bullshit overloading flying enemies as melee.
you probably just forgot how to play
get a tesla coil
get some missiles
>just luck out a god tier build bro
there's like 4 or 5 different missile items, missile drones, etc. just grab some indirect damage when it shows up instead of going straight for pew pew.
Did they kill the mystery with this one? What all did they change? Still have the dancing robits?
honestly after a few hours played it feels exactly the same. but less like it's running on shockwave fusion, which is nice. I feel like it really needs extra content that we all wanted for the original back in the day. It's cool though.
Hows the RoR2 dlc? worth getting?
it makes the game worse
Railgunner is fun for loops because damage scales so hard (crit chance gives crit damage instead), commando reskin is really awkward to play and the purple shit they added to stages just makes it less fun.
Really not worth the price
absolutely worth getting because it's so easy to pirate
But then I can't host multiplayer
>he doesn't know
Enlighten me. Already own the base on steam
creamapi
you trust russians, right OP?
you can edit one of the game's DLLs to unlock it
look it up
the jump in difficulty from just stage 1 to 2 is insane
Played 74 hours of RoR1, 0 hours of RoR2, and so far an hour of the remaster, and it seems like an alright remaster for 12 bucks.
I just don't like that they never fixed the gamebreaking bugs in the original game.
i only play Sniper
if a character cant oneshot bosses then its not worth playing
Is fall damage more brutal than in RoR1 or is it just the sound effect
yeah i think it's been upped to balance out the multiple items that lower gravity or give you an extra jump. I don't remember most of those from the original.
loader is a bit disappointing, i really wanted to do the swing n charge punch
2 had issues but stuff like that was really fun
How do you use the grapple effectively, anyway? I was able to slingshot myself once and I can't figure out how. Most of the time I'm just dragged into the wall or ceiling.
i think it gets a lot better when you have a hopoo feather or afterburner
>DiscordFOMOrapists already ruining the game with their retarded suggestions because theyre too stupid to manually aim
Risk of rain 2 got progressively worse as it updated, sad to see it happen to this game too
Anons, why can't I hit the switch for the artifact? What am I missing?
Use your R to hit it with the explosion
Oh fuck me, that's kinda retarded. But I guess it worked. Thanks anons.
I was worried they cucked me, because I set it on drizzle. set player damage to max and player damage taken to 10%, because I just wanted to unlock this relic real quick.
>I set it on drizzle. set player damage to max and player damage taken to 10%
I'm surprised doing that doesn't lock you out of challenges. Hell, I'm downright disappointed that there's no unlocks tied to Monsoon.
Scepter is still Monsoon only.
Right, forgot about it.
Monsoon can be pretty challenging. I'm I'd say an average gamer and I had many struggles with Monsoon in this and in RoR2.
Until of course you get the "god items", shit just clicks and you can loop until the game crashes.
>in RoR2
What, RoR2 is piss fucking easy.
RoR2 is for sure easier. But you can still get your ass handed on monsoon if you don't get strong items quickly. Specially on some of the less OP Characters. Engineer for instance usually takes a few runs to get strong,
characters that can't kill through walls are supposed to lure the cremator into hitting it. Not that Huntress is one, use the bomb.
i swear i cant clear any of the trials past the few in the middle, let alone getting a fucking crown on them
im being filtered left and right by these fucking things god i hate it
I dunno man they seem pretty straightforward to me. basically all of them give you a crown for "mastering" a mechanic and a "pass" for not failing at it completely. not saying they're not hard, the lemurian one just filtered me hardcore, but I know what it's about. I still haven't passed it but I did like how instead of a simple cutoff point between getting rekt and not taking any damage there's actual falloff now. so they've definitely updated some of the game. died so many times to those fuckers in the first one because I was a few pixels off.
Not justified in the slightest in buying it if you already have the original game, they added nothing new.
new survivors = nothing new
>two "new" characters with basic abilities
>that will be $15 + tip please
:OOOOOO
What's with the interactable in the barracks that requires a battery?
The fire barracks has an interactable that asks for a battery. The battery can apparently be found in temple. I theorize that one needs to put the battery in the carry-over chest on the final stage so they can use it in the barracks. I still haven't found the battery myself.
Wait, you can’t loop with the battery?
I don't think the battery can be found on every character OR the carry-over chest is just unrelated.
I'm starting a new run to take a screenshot of where I found the battery, give me a minute lol
Battery location- had to loop twice to the temple, but it spawned on the edge of the map
>make shitty indie game
>make the same game 3d
>make the same game again in 2d
This is worse than binding of isaac version 28
>risk of rain
>shitty indie game
begone Gankerermin
A negative amount of people gave a shit about this before they made a normie friendly infinitely worse 3d version
is glass/max damage rule really the only way to play the game or is the /vm/ just full of shitters
>is the mode that greatly increases damage and reduces enemy health a shitter crutch?
what do you think?
It makes the game less tedious at the beginning. Though I feel that glass isn't worth using over 200/200 (maybe higher enemy damage I haven't tested it much). People are just used to playing glass since it was the only way to modify damage in the original. Though usually it was paired with making all enemies elite and other artifacts.
>play with glass
>one overloading enemy spawns near you
>run lost
Well to be fair, overloading enemies are bugged and too strong atm, hopoo said there's a fix coming soon. And unlike in the original, Glass now disables OSP so glasskeks are fucked lmao
i firmly believe that base commando is the worst fucking character in this game
But mando with the slide and shotgun? Fucking aces.
I am continuously confused by people shitting on commando
i dont have any problems with any other class in the game in the decade that i have been playing
thank you for you input fromdrone the dodge roll isn't the issue
>in the decade that i have been playing
This game just came out though??? And massively rebalanced a bunch of characters so your opinions regarding their RoR1 state are completely irrelevant???
tell me in detail how base kit commando is different in remake and actually really good now, i'd love to hear it
NTA but he can fire while moving and also fire and walk backward.
bro wait until you unlock artificer
Commando is literally the best character in the game, learn how to dodge dumbass.
No, arti 100% takes that spot
huh, I wonder what that item soldiers syringe is for?
>dude he's good with items
just like every character in the game
he's good with really easy to find items dude. you don't need a special build he does the highest DPS with his base ability in the game. durrrr
>he does the highest DPS with his base ability in the game
blatant lie
I really hope star storm gets ported someday even if it will be a pretty huge endeavour. I miss the additional areas for variety
I don't understand the point of the damage slider, it should disable unlocks if used
They wanted the game to be faithful, but left something besides glass for people who thought enemies had too much health. I like it better than glass.
More options is always more cool.
because it makes tempted to use it but i won't because the game wasn't designed around it
>disabled gamers
we both know it's not about being disabled as disabled people have proven time and time again to be able to play and complete difficult games.
Caring how someone else plays their game is the most homosexual thing on the planet honestly.
tl;dr
you are gay, fag!
Your opinion is too reasonable for Ganker. Leave before it's too late.
Difficulty as accessibility isn't about helping cripples, it's about making games easier to play for politically motivated shitstains who have no love of the medium outside of its use as a vessel for progressive values
>the woke mob is making my games too easy
take your meds.
They literally unironically are
Have you forgotten about the last decade of prog gamer outlets pushing for fucking story modes where the game plays itself?
I'd tell YOU to take YOUR meds but I don't think they make a pill that cures clinical retardation
Not him, but well said.
you can't work at a video game company if you're a right winger though
Of course you can. The five nights at Freddies guy is an open trump supporter.
This tbh
>Lore Master
WoW had someone with this job/title and they still got shit wrong anyway. I don't care about LE WOMAN, but unless the person is a hyper autist or relying on some kind of heavily detailed guide they're inevitably going to get something wrong or retcon something and piss everyone off. I feel bad for her more than anything
Fucking rare to see a legitimate discussion on Ganker, good shit.
+ Drizzle = best way to play.
You did not beat the game
Yeah ok, I died on the final boss, but I will beat it.
There is nothing wrong with 200/200 Monsoon
Congrats anon, you're neither an autist or a troon
>maps are even bigger (read: somehow even more empty)
>providence trials are obnoxious as fuck, but progression is horribly paced if you don't do them
>this is exacerbated because you start out with basically nothing
>attack moving now exists, but is a clunky mess
>vines
>birds
>basically no new music, the greatly advertised "remastered" soundtrack sounds fucking identical
All in all, leaning towards a 5/10 or a 6/10 at the moment. Actually would have refunded it already but I bought a CD key so sadly not an option.
Hopoo is fucking clueless, maybe it's a good thing that Gearbox owns the IP now
He says conveniently forgetting the fact the first game GB made with this ip was a ror gacha
I'll take a little risky session while i poop
>maybe it's a good thing that Gearbox owns the IP now
No, no it's not...
It's over.
And they never should be.
we are AAA now
>woman with piercings and danger hair
>muh lore
see
rip Risk of Rain
WHAT THE FUCK
WHAT THE FUCK
>IS THIS INTERESTING
>IS THIS FUN
NO
NO
FUCK OFF.
HOTPOO WHAT DID YOU DO
>lore master
>gave the "female" golem a gender and story
>providence in trailer, not in the dlc
Well. There goes the neighborhood.
Thanks for doing shit we never asked for when all we need is more game content to play.
something about the way they talk feels like a bungie/destiny vidoc
either way this at least looks more interesting than survivors of the void and if the stages and characters are cool then i wont be complaining
ill complain if any new music is shit though
kill hotpoo, behead hotpoo, roundhouse kick hotpoo into the concrete
all this talk about "lore" tickles me the wrong way.
Lore always felt like a supplementary thing to Risk of Rain rather than the main focus.
The new area does look cool and i like the day/night thing but in the end it will matter how fun the DLC is
Don't forget that some enemies can climb ropes and attack while doing so
Git gud
>progression
Please stick to RoR2 with other melanin-enriched individuals of your intellectual caliber.
Why is deflecting to RoR2 the only thing you know how to do?
>maps are even bigger (read: somehow even more empty)
Theyre fine adapt, use your movement abilites, if you aren't on monsoon time is a non-issue anyway
>providence trials are obnoxious as fuck, but progression is horribly paced if you don't do them
These are fun as hell and you literally don't have to do them if you don't want to
>this is exacerbated because you start out with basically nothing
oh damn, like the OG? fucking retard
>attack moving now exists, but is a clunky mess
Retard
>vines
The enemies? Annoying but not difficult in anyway just dodge properly
>birds
Fuck these naggers
>basically no new music, the greatly advertised "remastered" soundtrack sounds fucking identical
The added tracks are bad, and everyone would have complained if the remastered tracks were different, its unironically good that those haven't changed
>bad game design is actually... le good because risky 1 did eet
lol
cope nagger
Are you the same nagger that couldn't recognise the fucking bell sound?
>providence trials are obnoxious as fuck, but progression is horribly paced if you don't do them
Providence trials are actually a pretty fun way to do unlocks and you're free to grind if you don't want to do them to unlock skills
>this is exacerbated because you start out with basically nothing
SO LITERALLY RISK OF RAIN?! HAVE YOU EVEN PLAYED THE GAME BEFORE YOU nagger
>attack moving now exists, but is a clunky mess
works fine
>vines
they're fine
>birds
they're fine, if you can't deal with flying enemies then it means you never played risk of rain 1 either
>basically no new music, the greatly advertised "remastered" soundtrack sounds fucking identical
you'd complain about the music being shit and "souless" anyway
>Providence trials are actually a pretty fun way to do unlocks and you're free to grind if you don't want to do them to unlock skills
>Lava hop trials, drone trials enter the room
>f-f-filtered!
The new graphics make no difference because you're still forced to use the zoomed out camera to not miss any chests and to not waste time looking for the teleporter.
im trans and ror2 is my favorite game btw
>(read: somehow even more empty)
I'm lucky if I get 4 chests per area.
Enforcer is terrible and I'm tired of pretending he's not.
You need the spirit of JUSTICE in your heart to use him.
Hes much better with shield tackle.
What the fuck is this challenge. It seems like every single path is just a red herring of bullshit platforming to waste your time.
bottom path is the least awful
That's what you get for using the soulless font.
I'm so tired. You're not allowed ANY mistake.
this really wasn't that hard, you can skip huge chunks at the beginning and in the middle by using air strike to gain height, the only somewhat hard thing is that obstacle near the end of the top path.
I'm talking about getting the gold crown. I beat it a long time ago.
yeah, that's what i meant. it's not too hard. the level is short so it's fine, it reminded me of super meat boy.
the golds that are a real pain in the ass are ones that take a long time per attempt like the one where you have to fight that buffed scavenger with enforcer after 3 minutes of farming. i was short by 1 second
Ok, I beat it by taking a slightly different route, and also getting lucky that I angled perfectly around some obstacles. But yeah, the enforcer ones are bullshit. I can't even beat that one or the lemurian one.
What's the other new Artifact? I found Tempus by complete luck in the holy grounds
I play on 200/200 and still haven't been able to beat the game on rainstorm
I might take the cheaterpill and start using command
I forced myself to beat the game as vanilla commando on rainstorm before playing anything else. I don't even like commando I just have autism
take the huntresspill
moving while shooting makes the game so easy
>playing huntress
you didn't beat the game.
100% file download?
Still as tedious as the first one.
i like playing acrid and engie. but its so rng for these characters because if you don't get backup magazine for acrid, or fungus for engie, then the runs get really fucking hard.
>the Loader trials
Fucking finally, took me hours to get my first monsoon win again.
Hold up while using the grappling hook to shoot in a 45 degree angle.
Those aren't too difficult, for me it was the HAN-D and the Drifter trials that were the great filter
>red whip activates when you don't take damage or attack for a few seconds
Lads I've coated like half the big ass bridge in the snowfields in one acrid puddle you go so fast all the time now
Red Whip is a RoR 2 item... you don't play these games.
stop posting you fucking retard
you didn't play risky 1 you fucking secondary
I care when its clear it's the Risk of Rain 2 newfags that never played the original that are bitching and will likely have influence on the dev team
*is the better game in your path*
Holy FUCK they gutted engineer's harpoons, none of these locked onto the golem on the left and they all just poofed into the air
>that fakeout providence gives into an extra final phase
caught me off guard holy shit
why is this shit so hard
Because most of the time the game will waste your time by spacing out chests a lot, hiding the teleporter far away from your spawn point, and giving you very few enemies to kill early in the game so you can't get any items, and if you don't get any broken green/red items by the 3rd stage you're pretty much dead.
>Playing with friend who has only played 2
>We hit 2 mountain shrines feeling like hot shit on stage 3
>Overloading Magma Worm is our just desserts
At least he got to experience it now. The one in 2 is no where near as deadly.
It's actually, completely unironically, not as good as the original. It exchanges slightly more content for significantly more tedium.
>couldn't breeze through providence with multiple frost relics like I did in the original
lame
Items across the board are significantly weaker, which is a terrible change.
Once the honeymoon phase is over, people will be a lot more negative towards RORR.
>Items across the board are significantly weaker, which is a terrible change.
I'm suddenly reliving every ror2 patch where hotpoo nerfed all the fun each time
I think some of them are way stronger than they used to be. Drones too.
Also they probably lowered the power on relic because it was overpowered.
I noticed that too, especially with the reds. I got the Ceremonial Dagger, Happiest Mask, Brilliant Behemoth and the MK-II Missile last run and it felt barely noticeable when all of these were run carriers in RoR1. Gay as fuck
I got a dagger early and the damage was really shit yeah, also the projectiles will immediately fade out if there are no targets, you don't get the cascade effect anymore of projectiles accumulating.
so what's the big difference compared to the original?
133 more steam achievements 🙂
More characters, larger maps, more items, unlockable alt costumes and moves, final boss is reworked and has a new phase, some new enemies, reworked controls (for both better and worse). It has a much better multiplayer lobby and is far more stable in multiplayer now.
>can loop reliably on monsoon
>cant beat most trials, especially the platform timetrials
im not even using any artifacts or changing the damage modifiers, are the trials just overly cursed? most seem like they're just unfun specific puzzles you have to slam your head against until you find the right way to beat the map
if you cant Gold every trial, that means you are a shitter who got carried through Monsoon by Glass/200% damage done/Command
Get good retard the trials are amazing way to unlock stuff . And big shitter's like you sont even need to do yoi can unlock thru other mean
in english again, please?
where’s the illegal shipment?
The cargohold on the final stage, interact with all the chests, even the background ones.
Does the variant matter?
jej
Stop glowing Enforcer
No.
I love when the game wastes my money and reduces my chances of winning by giving me multiple shitty orange items instead of passive items.
aw shit there's already a thread up.
I'm almost certainly done with the series. RoR Returns is a nice sendoff but I have no interest in a Gearbox-made sequel.
i don't give a shit about mobile games, i'll judge their merit based on the next DLC
worse than ror2
What was the name of that annoying Mexican who was blacklisted from Ganker RoR games?
Anyone remember? He always played Bandit
MarielX.
Oh god yes. I aborted so many full lobbies when that dude showed up. Great times, was happy to host.
I would purposely try to kill him with the funballs or steal his items or use the colored text glitch to pretend to be him and make him say stupid shit.
>Playing sniper
>Boss is several Lynx totems
These fuckin guys and their chest high walls ruining my funny 1 shot button
Jump, retard
>no way to uncap the player limit for lobbies
it's not the same
I keep getting fuck on stage 3 on Monsoon, playing as Commando
Any tips? I'm taking 3-4 minutes per stage, is that too slow?
Stop playing commando without the glass and/or command artifacts.
I'm the same. It's a difficult transition from RoR2, some characters are better than others, runs feel much more up to RNG than they did before.
>want to host for Ganker like good old times jesus christ it was like 8 years ago
>don't have anything unlocked yet
>don't want to cheat unlock
From my experience it uses whatever the entire group has unlocked. When I played with a friend it used items he had unlocked that I hadn't and vise versa.
the game pools everyone's artifacts and items together now, no need for host to unlock absolutely everything.
however, Ganker rules are pretty much unplayable right now due to bugged overloading range and terrible sacrifice drop rates.
>magma barracks
>cremator
>lose
what do
Just sorta win.
There isn't really a trick he is just a motherfucker.
>There isn't really a trick
I've never been able to figure out, but does he take less damage from the back? Like I'm hitting his shell?
Pray that hopoo lets you finish your run by not giving you this stage.
run backwards and forwards up the top while someone else kills it.
60fps cap? cmon. i want that buttery smooth 2d scrolling.
Yeah I'm thinking it's soul
Glass fixes everything
>So what do I need to do to make this game actually fun?
Unironically, get good. Then get the glass artifact.
>damage dealt: 200%
>damage daken: 300%
Increase your damage in the rules menu or play a better game.
what is the most fun to play melee character
Acrid.
It's a tie between Mercenary and Miner, Loader is broken so not fun to play.
broken?
by the way are there any fun fast-paced (kinda lol) movement characters? I'm asking cuz I don't know shit about the character reworks they made and new characters
Mercenary and Miner.
thanks for answering my important questions while my legit torrent copy is downloading
Miner all the way
Acrid with red whip
I suppose it is because loader can be invincible with a significant uptime and since it counts as secondary instead of utility for some reason you can easily grab backup mags to push the uptime even further
1.0.2 today (whatever that means due to timezones)
Whenever a company "remakes" a game, I make a habit to immediately replay the original so I'll never have the urge to buy and support terrible behavior.
The hero the industry needs
>using command
As of this point Risky returns> Risky 2
2 needs an overhaul item wise and visually so bad its not even funny like everyone looks to stiff
I agree tbh. Risky 2 has the one problem some indie games have, where anything made later on has much higher quality visuals than everything else (A Hat In Time vs both of its DLCs for example).
Like fuck's sake, Artificer still has 12 poly hands, doing a model+texture refresh on the EA release survivors and enemies would do wonders.
>trying to get gold on hot rope hop
>the fucking boomerangs keep not exploding for some godforsaken reason
>managed to get to 35 with some patience and luck
>hear a magma worm roaring
okay no, nevermind, just a cremator.
are you supposed to wait for others when you find the tp or do I have to activate it asap because the difficulty clock is ticking?
activate it asap, time is ticking and doing the teleporter gives you enough money to buy every chest on the map.
if anyone complains about this, they're a shitter and should be disregarded.
Lmao engineer's turrets falling to low health triggers this too
yeah its pretty amazing on him.
I had a 3 person party where everyone including the engineer had one and it kind of made the game easy mode.
These crowns are so much harder than eclipse 8. I wish there were steam achievements for them to see completion rate.
It's part of her kit.
>future patch will allow turning while attacking
Good.
Was RoR like this? I don't remember. RoR 2 spoiled me rotten bros, feels really bad and doesn't make sense when there's a cursor on screen, but you're still shooting in the direction you're moving
In the original Huntress was the only one who could move and shoot at all.
also it's fucking weird, it seems like there's shitty autoaim that works half the time
You're probably thinking of just moving while shooting. It's not autoaim.
Huntress aims at nearby enemies automatically.
Future patch will allow turning while attacking.
Stop using your mouse and switch to keyboard only, zoom zoom
Most characters you can hold the button and go back, but its very slow. For Huntress, it is specifically her ability to auto-fire in the direction of enemies while moving at full speed.
host when?
God damn, Sniper is cracked in this version. Backflip into charged shot is good stuff.
>Use classic controls
>Friends who started it react with confusion and horror to this
>Try out other schemes and they feel like shit
I think I just played the original too much to ever change the binds.
Normies are adverse to keyboard-only controls, it's a known fact.
Ganker lobbies?
Anyone else getting a random pause here and there when playing? I get full 60 fps but I have experienced three 1s game pauses and one 5-10s game pause.
I'm on a 4090FE/7950X3D/3440x1440p
So does the game literally become easier with a bigger monitor? Because that seems like a design oversight
No? Why would it?
I'm
and still get my shit pushed in just the same.
git gud
I don't recall asking.
It was like that in the original tbf
Just like Terraria!
Its only like 14 bucks so I bought it, and I'm happy with it. It's RoR1 with better graphics and animations, a functional multiplayer gamemode, and a few new characters and stuff. I'm happy.
Remind me - should I be rushing teleporters ASAP or clearing every level of chests as thoroughly as I can?
Was he just shit or is that an issue compared to the original?
>artifer complete garbage since release in risky 2
>community yells at hopoo every patch to revamp her
>put her in 1
>shes just as bad
LMAO its almost like design wise shes trash and needed an overhaul why did hotpoo hate artificer so much
>all attacks have an hour long CD
this just doesn't work in this type of game
>chests keep dropping me Infusions
>RoR1fags shid and piss their pants, crying that I'm a cheater for using them
If Command and Glass are off, fuck em.
Now if you're using Glass and Command then grabbing Infusion, then fuck you.
Why is it so hard to hit the rope! Aaaah. I lost fucking MINUTES to me jumping at ropes, holding up, and just not grabbing them.
>merc parry on glass
every single death from now on will be from using this move too much but i dont give a shit
Nice reference on that item.
Just because you're a leftist doesn't mean you're not a /misc/tard. Fuck off with this shit.
>the miner is anime as fuck
he's so fucking good why is nobody saying anything about him
he's so fucking sweet
I played Miner a bunch in the original and I have no clue how the overheat shit works all I know is that X brings enemies with me instead of a piercing charged stun and that sucks ass
When you're in heat you can tap spam X for free and fly around like a maniac through enemies and never take damage. unlock the alternate primary skill that throws axes and in heat they pierce. he's really good. feel it out it's pretty intuitive. building heat with the thrown axes is really easy too
it's basically
>hit enemies until heat is full
>secondary and special become empowered, consume heat instead of having a cooldown
>go on a drill spamming rampage until heat is empty
>repeat
my autism wont let me do anything until I beat rainstorm with commando on 100% damage and im struggling
same but monsoon
I'm suffering
Does anyone know if beating Providence with all the artifacts on the bottom of the bridge on does anything? I don't remember this from the OG game, but it's been awhile.
>these challenges aren't so bad, Ganker is just bad at video games!
>unlock loader and start doing those
Yeah I think I'm just not gonna play Loader
>haha he used a lot of words to say what he could've said in 2 sentences haha that is epic just like the kermit meme my fellow /r/Gankerers!
FUCK BIRDS
Damage sliders are such a shit option to have
It's like the dev threw up their hands and said "fuck it I don't know what the fuck I'm doing, somebody else balance my game for me"
Mentally disabled people like those with down syndrome or women deserve to play on monsoon too, chud.
That's the whole point of most roguelites in general, except "somebody else" is RNG.
Ganker rules included glass and now everyone prefers default damage suddenly.
Pretty much.
Wowee, this game sure is fun! Thanks for the recommendation guys, I'll be sure to tell all my discord friends about it.
>drizzle
Do you have a humiliation fetish or something? Why would you post this?
fucking hell, the new tesla coil icon looks like a fucking desk lamp
It's very lackluster. Quite frankly don't see why this was made outside of it being an obvious cashgrab of course. I expected a remake of RoR1 to at the very least modernize it - vastly improved platforming, an actual physics engine, savequitting, more QoL like a map screen, chest icons appearing offscreen when you enter a certain range so you're not handicapped playing at 2x zoom - but it's just RoR1 with a very minor new coat of paint and in some ways even more tedious than the original.
>I'm not buying RoRR and I never will
>but here is my opinion on what should be done with it even though I have no idea what problems it has that need to be confronted since I'm a stupid bitch who thinks it plays the same as RoR1
providence feels easier, and his final phase is honestly pretty lame. He still feels like he stands still all the time and teleports from time to time instead of being fast. final phase ost wasnt as good as Precipitation too
If you ask me, it should have been made harder and a monsoon exclusive
>artificer's gimmick in this is to block enemies with her wall to zone with her retarded m1 that as a minimum arming distance for some reason
>the problematic and very lethal enemies you have to watch out for can just bypass her wall entirely
>all of her kit revolves around standing still and shitting out damage with big knockback to remain safe
>elites are practically immune to knockback so they can and will just bypass the wall and kill you because you are stuck in the animation
do they just not know how the game plays or something? her kit is retarded for a game like this and will get you killed 100% of the time
