Why do the premade characters n MZ look better than anything you can make with the actor creator?
Skill.
What do you mean? Skill? It takes skills to make a decent actor with the character creator or are you saying they put more skills into making the default actors rather than the OC creator?
Yes.
>always keep buying RPG Makers but is too much of a lazy dumbass to actually make something
try porn, its motivating because its fun
You can still become a translator, anon! %%Do it! At least you'll get closer with the functions and how other devs make their games. Maybe it'll boost your motivation.%%
>tfw want to get started on making a lewd game but feel like writing the dialogue is gonna be very weird
I'm trying to making one but with default MZ assets and it has no porn scene because I have short time to make the project before the trial runs out.
>not being a good momma's boy
>not pirating RPGM
NGMI
Mom should turn into a yandere mom and just tie him down in the basement
I'm going with a plot where the Player's mom used to be an Evil Witch, but she hasn't done anything wrong since her kid is born.
Even more reason for her to do it. Especially if her son just wants to kill random people because they said bad things about his mom, must be an arab or something.
If you win against the White Witch you rape her, if you lose against the White Witch, she rapes you.
It's pornland alright
If you lose can you go back to mommy crying that some b***h raped you and have her help you get back at the evil white witch who hurt her little boy?
Also women can't rape men.
What if she's a futa witch. What if his mom is one too
Before you had my attention, now you also have my erection.
Can you join witch mommy and be her little baby assistant?
just so you know, spitting out swears isnt inherently funny, it just makes it feel immature
So you know, saying it's suppose to funny doesn't make it so. It's not an argument because you want it to be. Your interpretation isn't the pigment of reality.
This game would be 1000x better if it did have pron in it
Can you think of any game that wouldn't be better if it had porn in it?
Of course but I'm NGMI with only a 17-16 days trial.
Pirate the bloody thing, you wanker.
What did you start with?
I have a MV project already, but I want to test out MZ before the trial ends.
You don't build a well that close to a stream, boyo. But then again they are elves so maybe they are moronic.
Well I don't know. I'm still a baby at making maps. I put it there randomly.
WHAT DO THEY EAT?
Leaves and bread, I guess.
wiener
Why do assets looks so nice and sharp in editor but shitty and blurry in actual game?
I don't know.
Literally the only good thing about this clip is the game design choice of putting the treasure chest up there when you are supposed to head south, a reward for exploration.
The writing seems to be done by someone with little experience, mapping is bad, the hero's face is bad, the introduction is bad...
Bad.
I have indeed little experience attempting to write anything.
I'm sorry for my blunt feedback but yes, those are the things I'd improve.
Dude that's just a guy who's started learning gamedev.
Is your advice to a person just learning the ropes seriously "your writing, mapping, hero's face, introduction is bad make it better"?
If you sincerly want to help him and not just play critique, you can give him more precise and constructive pointers.
G-gomen nasai...
What game is this?
A test project. I barely started it. Don't think I'll finish it before the trial ends.
Motherfricking Rad the Chad.
just dont write it then, hit enter on a girl to make her top come off
Best version to make a hentai game with anons?
mv/mz because the resolution isnt limited to like 480p
Thank you anon!
What resolution is it limited to now? 1080p?
default for MZ/MV is 816x624 but with plugins, it can be much higher.
I just checked the API, it seems you can set a custom resolution now.
I always think it's wild how, when you exclude JP porn games, people have undoubtedly spent 10x more time making RPGMaker games than people have spent playing RPGMaker games
Personally i avoid RPGM coom games because i only play them online and for some reason they have atrocious loading times and I'm not gonna download some game just to coom.
Play TLS
Repetitive.
Follow the guide or die.
MC ends up being huge Mary Sue with everything going according to his plan.
Would be a good game if it ended half way through and had more plot twists like second seed of corruption that ruined MC's plans.
I am playing, I am sad because I missed a recruitable party member and the second battle went relatively bad but I'm enjoying myself immensely nonetheless

Is there a good game where you go on a magical adventure as some apprentice mage and learn spells? I just want to good magic systems.
From what I've seen so far, the only RPGMaker games that actually sell are porn visual novels
A shame, because it is actually a nice software
There are legit games here and there, there's even a couple of devs dedicated to making short rpgs on it. They're doing the old Spiderweb tactics of shitting out mediocre shit after mediocre shit in the long run and creating enough shit that they break even every month.
Where do i pirate paid plugins?
/vg/'s rpgmaker general drops them from time to time.
Look in the archives for the links some anon keeps posting in the RPG maker threads.
but the general no longer exist...

^This is often in the RPGMaker Generals, and I think it might be what you are looking for? It has links to plugin related matters, though I'm not sure if those have the direct free downloads that you are referring to.
I know I have seen the free downloads posted here for sure though, I'm just not certain if the pastebin I linked has them though. 🙁

Thanks for helping but it isn't what I'm looking for.
MZ is incompetence incarnate.
this
I realized the attack/spell animations don't work in battle.
I recently got nostalgia for Veggie Tales and for some reason that led into me spending the last week planning out an RPG Maker game about cartoony vegetables in a war against medieval rabbit people.
I realize how fricking stupid it sounds but I couldn't get the idea out of my head and at least want to make something.
you finish it?
Since there's a sale on Steam is XP worth buying? Or should I save for VXAce
You mean to tell me you don't have $11 lying around?
If you're going to snag any RPG Maker you might as well grab MV
Has anyone played the tk2000 Dai no Daibouken and can remark on whether it's any good?
anyone want to leak the visustella mz plugins?
frick those Black folk and their paywall
From what I heard their shit don't even work because it's receiving the same quality assurance that MZ got.
A friend of mine told me he wanted to get into RPG Maker just to make some FF-like stuff (I think he only played the GBA remakes). Which version should he get?
If he wants to make FF style games in GBA style, 2k/2k3 are his best bet.
2k has turn based battles and 2k3 has ATB battles that can be toggled on and off. But for the most part they're the same.
don't the latest releases have more features?
You can buy DLC with them!
RPGMaker 2000 and 2003 were peak soul.
How would you like a cyberpunk game made in a way similar to Corruption of the Champions 2 or Trials in Tainted space? Not in porn, but in general gameplay.
Explanation for those who dont dabble in those kind of games:
Moving is done via square based cells, each represent a location. Encounters are random at said cells, but they are not limited to combat encounters, it could be anything really, a merchant, an enemy, some companion or quest giving npc. All the scenes are done via text (no images), combat is a separate screen like in jRPGs
Like this.
Yeah, that was the thought, make point to travel through, and add parralax background image.
That sounds like Lust Doll
Which is also a porn game of course but look it up
>Lust Doll
Oh, I see. Yeah, so, how do you (you personally, and anyone who reads this) feel about this kind of games?
I think it's a good way to make a decently-sized world with very low amounts of art assets
RPGs are really good for that kind of abstraction
That sounds a lot like the game I'm planning out, it's even cyberpunk
Mine is loosely based on CP2020 rules, but its not set in CP2020 nor CP RED world, its completely made from scratch. Whats yours?
It's kind of like Mario Sunshine in terms of game structure, with a bunch of separate areas with missions you have to complete which can also be explored to find recruitable characters, items, etc. and the main plot progressing as you complete those individual missions
The setting's totally original, pretty heavily inspired by FF7, leans more towards goofy than serious
I think its better this way, then trying to fit whatever resources available on the internet into completely foreign setting.
Never played CP2077 nor did i watch anything about it but i like the system of breasts, i think with text only you can make better and more complex stories with less effort as if you were to use images and animations and if the writing is good it doesn't lose much by not having those, character avatars are always welcome too, like on breasts. CoC2 has an extremely annoying map system though.
The big problem with those is that since everything is dependent on writing then you need a very good writergay cause everything depends on him, if it's just WORDS WORDS WORDS it gets boring real fast.
>CoC/breasts
>ten thousand iterations of "how many wieners do you have?" and "how big are they?"
Follow the reply chain.
no
The only person who works on this game is me, myself, and my face. Ive published small games in the past, and people generally praised my writing, but thats not a big indication. Yes, character avatars is the way to go, since Ive personally seen instances of "hey, ive read that this character is X, but while reading, Ive never seen it mentioned, wtf give me back my money!"
More power to you, anon, i hope you manage to finish it and it's turn out to be a good game. I like the breasts format, the only problem is the writing sometimes.
Have you gotten into this because you liked writing or the idea was making a game and writing is just the means to an end?
Means to an end. And Ive been told by peoples on the internet that they like the way I write fiction
>RPGMaker 2000
>RPGMaker 2003
>RPGMaker XP
>RPGMaker VX
>RPGMaker VX Ace
>RPGMaker MV
>RPGMaker MZ
What is the correct answer?
2000/2003 for style, MV for access to the up-to-date scripts and Java
Javascript. The engine runs on HTML5 and JS, not Java.
Also XP-VX Ace are nice too if you'd rather script in Ruby. XP if you plan on going with RTP assets because the VX character sprites are ugly shit. But ideally you should make your own assets or at least use Looseleaf sprites instead. The site is down but a pack with all the pngs is still out there. I do like the MV/MZ method of having plugins that are configurable for people that can't code. I'd recommend that for anyone starting out. But 2000/3 had a great amount of event commands that were dropped later (although they've added some back recently) and it had a lot of soul in its RTP. With enough effort people have made custom engines using the event system. I'd also say don't be afraid to pirate first and pay later, the non-Japanese RM community started and grew with piracy outside of shit like the console ports. If it weren't for the fan translations there wouldn't be so many RPG Maker games in the west and the programs wouldn't have been localized and sold here. I'd also recommend Wolf RPG Editor (which is free and has a decent translation now) for anyone starting out that might want to see what RPG Maker 2000 on steroids would look like. No scripting, but the entire game runs on events that you can change which is just as powerful, but maybe tedious if you'd rather just type shit in than use a GUI.
Wolf editor seems very good but I find it pretty lacking in tutorials online compared to RPG Maker. At most some very old youtube videos but that's it
2003 is two euros, you can't go wrong with that
as someone who uses ace, I'd say xp is maybe better if you want a game that "doesn't look like an rpg maker game" as there's more/easier customization of menus and windows.
I never used VX but I've used XP
What's the big difference
not much, the tilesets in ace are larger and have more autotiles.
xp has more abilities, like you can make a more complex game with it.
almost every "improvement" for ace is more organized ui
I know this question never gets asked here but how do you write a short and simple game story? I know where my game is going to take place, I have a lot of ideas for characters and events, but I am not able to merge all that into a coherent story. It’s just a huge mess of ideas that don’t necesserally go well together. How do you guys organize yourselves?
Use a plot generator or something and just pick whichever one seems interesting but easy enough to make a 1-2 hours game out of.
Wait half of those don’t even make sense or even have a proper conclusion.
Yes writing a short summary seems like the best idea. It helps to have a general direction when you’re working alone on a game.
That's because plots are not stories. Without meaning and significance, they're just a series of events.
To appreciate what's happening you have to recognize what the character flaw is, the conflict, the relationships.
On the low end of the spectrum you have a game like Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls. You have you're choice of like 10 characters. You do the exact same thing with each of them. The missions are exactly the same. You reach the bottom of the dungeon.
The exception is the mid-level mission, where you retrieve an artifact. It's a different item for each character, and it's significance is tailored to the few lines of flavor text the characterized the character you're playing as at the start of the game. The briefest bit of context.
For example, you if you're playing as the Male Elf, he's a botanist and he's only adventuring in the dungeon to acquire funds. Thats it. The Wizardry cast don't get any deeper than a few lines of text.
So anyways, reaching the mid-level dungeon mission, the male elf follows a rumor about a tree of knowledge in the dungeon. That particular floor is covered in ivy and moss, so it's plausible there could be a tree down there. But there's not. What you actually get is a leaf-shaped accessory item with an inscription on the back about the proverbial tree of knowledge. It's leaves grow, fall, even burn, like everything else. Fortune Cookie says: Everything has a season.
More over, he can't even equip this accessory because it's a female character item.
After the mid level you get into the pretty impersonal plot reveals about the dungeon, what's at the bottom. Why it was made What made it and so on. The questions sound more interesting than the answers. If you're well versed in Isekai or other JRPGs you probably know what happens when towns have economies revolving around the dungeon or mine, and what happens when the well runs dry, so to speak.
Try to write a concise and short summary of your plot.
Replace names with just generics like MC, rival, antagonist, etc.
Then from there work out:
1 World, setting
2 Bios for the main characters
3 Main plot points
Then you can decorate all that with your additional ideas and further minor plot points that you like in your story.
Try to set it in one location with some simple and straightforward goal that the protagonist has to complete and work your way from there
That's how a lot of the shorter RPG Maker game plots work
A lot of RPG Maker games aren't RPGs, they're survival horror games set in a haunted mansion with a silent protagonist and maybe 3-4 more cast members that spew cryptic nonsense.
I think I sense a bit of repressed anger in this.
The blind shouldn't lead the blind.
Based pseud
A tried and true recipe for story writing is focusing on "conflict." That is to say, MC wants something. What's between him and what he wants? What will he do to get it? What will he refuse to do to get it? Will he lose something to get it? Will anybody help him get it? Will anyone stop him from trying to get it? "It" can refer to literally anything that can be obtained: love, material goods, freedom, a better place to live, anything.
This are narratives.
Man vs Man
Man vs Nature
Man vs Himself
Man vs Society
There's also Man Vs Machine or even Man Vs God, that's a subcategory (but not really) of Society & Man. While Society has it's system of rules, the narrative may make you aware of the prime mover, the factors that create those rules in the first place.
Things that are unconscious, hidden, and normally untouchable. And an Anthropomorphism of nature is can be categorize a number of different ways.
A lot of Isekai RPG rules have Level & Stat Metaphysical laws set in place or granted by a God or Goddess. In a lot of ways it's a stand in for Money and Status. And transcending that you become aware of what give it power in the first place. Trust, Love, Friendship ect...
IMO, Korean Manwah isekai tend to have God(s) who use civilization as a filter or form or distillery to produce a king or chosen one ect...
Although you rarely see the social impact of these hypothetical realities in video games. Maybe at best, a race war between humans and beastmen.
If you were to look at compile heart games, the people of the world are just suggestive silhouettes. And you're just suppose to except the sentiments of one character as representing "people". And that's just used to keep the game on budget.
"We have to tell the world!"
"No. They'd only panic and wouldn't understand"
"But we didn--"
"We're different! Don't break the meta by suggesting otherwise."
There was an episode of Rick and Morty that did that, but it was really more about bad parenting expressed through social engineering.
Like, they "take responsibility" that was never really theirs, and raise the life on this planet into a space fairing civilization; during the course of a camping trip. Just so that they can feel comfortable with themselves. But at the same time, they built an exhaust pipe depositing good-for-nothings that didn't fit into their schemes and didn't think twice about neglecting them.
i bought XP
now what
You start messing around with it?
learn the "set move route" function.
there's a ton of things you can do with it
Put an event on the same map as your character and see what you can do with it
So I want a human transformed as a cat as main protagonist.
The questions are why and how they got transformed.
Maybe a false love potion ? You have to steal from a witch and make the target drink it then drink it yourself, and both got transformed into animals
The witch can join the party later and help with conversations with npcs
The target could join the party too, transformed as another animal, and if the protag is female she could get jealous of the relationship between her target and the witch
The goal of the game would be to become human again
I think I'll do it in VX Ace
Thoughts ?
Same anon, more ideas
You would fight rats in the beginning and destroy them since you are a cat
The classic monsters with the witch in your party
Maybe the first solution could turn the hero/heroine into an anthro, but I want to keep it short since it is my first project
Let's meditate on the consequence of becoming a cat. Dramatic irony and comedy need a setup first for the audience's recognition.
It's better to have introduced a character with a dog, or allergies, at the start of a story. Rather than to pull it out your ass.
Perhaps it was an accident. And the only person that knows how to reverse magical screw ups is superstitious and adverse to unlucky things. And you are black cat. So getting close won't be easy.
I'll try to set up properly, thanks
This is a funny idea, I like it
And since he would be in an Egyptien-like society people would take him for a God since he can talk and it would be funny
egyptians made a god potion that turns you into god
but because they worship cats it just turns you into a cat
Could be a body-swap story and then the cat that stole your body becomes the main antagonist
Honestly, lots of ways you could go about this.
This would be actually be kind of cool because you'd be OP as frick.... but a cat.
