Honestly how do you even save Halo at this point? You would have to retcon every game after 3 in order to save it.
You either do a post 3 reboot and ignore all the 343 stuff or a full reboot from square one but that is even more risky since the bungie era is still a great foundation.
Alternatively they can do spin-offs that deal in smaller scale stories and characters and basically never go near the main plot/chief/cortana.
Its gonna be awkward and a gamble no matter how you do it but some paths seem more viable than others.
