fr, why are the shops so worthless in them?

        Anonymous

They usually balance around the gametesters not by the gametesters. Which has it's own problems.

Shops are generally supposed to be for players who don't explore as much, but need to be able to keep up with game difficulty.

I was referring to Summoner. So many weapons available right out of the tutorial, and yet for the whole early game the best weapon is a wooden club that's the cheapest thing you can buy in a store and has half the attack power as other weapons.

bullshit like this is what turns me into a vidya hoarder. i could excuse this if the game had infinite potential copies of the item, or if there was some system to track down and reacquire items you sold through miniquests (implying any game would put that much effort in)

Dragons Dogma does this with a special goods store who can both make copies of items for you and if you sell or lose anything unique or limited it will start showing up for sale there.

To alleviate the intentional padding and get you to endgame faster, because they never planned early content to be properly played by anyone other than those who started at launch.

You mean it's random at every reload or once you entered an area and loot is generated it's fixed?

        Anonymous

The former. If you open a chest and reload it will have a different item in it. This includes both gear and cosmetics (a finite number of different items you can find and then later summon to decorate the Room of Requirement). And again, doesn't matter if it's a tiny box somewhere in the middle of Buttfrick, Nowhere or a huge treasure chest after a boss room. Either one could have gear that's better than anything you're currently wearing.

Its shitty level system doesn't help.

          Anonymous

Damn, that sucks. Reminds of boss fights where a specific item is guaranteed but the effects on it are random, so you can end up with solid gold for your build or shit you will probably never use. At least here you can save scum here if the trash loot after a boss fight pisses you off.

      >content is completely random every time, with no relation to the difficulty of finding the chest/the enemies guarding it either
That sounds so goofy. Like you could be let down or get some cool thing, but you'll never know.

        Anonymous

Yeah, for that reason you're never really excited about chests. The variance is just too high. You also just get way too fricking much stuff. Almost to Borderlands extremes, except the game isn't designed around that (no difference in stats beyond a single number) so they're just annoying trash you carry around until you can sell it. If you even have the room ...
