Surprisingly yes, it has two campaigns, one for the RDA, one for the na'vi. They each play different (TPS vs meelee combat) and have different stories, graphics were pretty good back then, there was also a fun multiplayer mode. Mind you, this was released a year after AssCreed 1. There was no Ubisoft Open World Tower games yet. This was just a fun game with open hubs/maps.
I installed it again last month after the second movie came out. It's still pretty fun, and also pretty sad to see how little game design has developped since.
Yes, it was decently fun. It was basically a third person reskin of Far Cry 2, just less open world. But it had a branching story and you could choose to side with the humans or Navi. Humans let you use the mech suits and helicopters, Navi let you fly and ride various animals.

I'm pretty certain it used the same engine as farcry 2, but actually had colour instead of being poop brown so you get to see how gorgeous that cryengine-lineage flora can get
Their own website >https://www.ubisoft.com/en-au/game/avatar-frontiers-of-pandora >play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.
Forgot elsewhere but I'm pretty sure it was confirmed in some interview after the initial trailer released. If the RDA was available like in the first game, they would advertise it and they would have shown it in the trailer.
What the frick man. I want to kill the smurfs and alien animals with a big jet powered mech that shoots an autocannon. Being some tree fricker with a bow sounds gay.
A2 is about to cross the 2 billion milestone just like the first one despite coming much later than its predecessor did. The fact is general curiosity and people being fatigued of capeshit and other genres helped it out.
/misc/ has a lizards level of social awareness and understanding of human ethos. Its why they believe spending 14 hours, hunched over, in the dark and living on their parents income makes them the pinnacles of humanity.
This is before /misc/ had anything approaching prominence, dude. This is HFY, which is just people embarrassingly fantasizing over humanity being special in a vast uncaring universe.
that said avatar being borderline luddite in jerking off the na'vi's ONENESS WITH NATURE really rubbed me the wrong way
You fundamentally misunderstand HFY. It's a direct reaction to the Cosmic Horror "muh vast uncaring universe" cliches. It quickly became a cliche of its own, but it is not ignorant of cosmic horror in any way. The entire premise is "Humans don't actually suck like commonly portrayed, we're actually pretty amazing when you think about it".
Funny part is that they KNEW people would sympathize with the humans if it was just another 'fight for resources' story, so instead they made it about mercenary's personal vendetta and whale poachers.
They still stepped in it. Instead of the whale meat being delicious or something like that they had the reason they are hunted because their brain oil stops aging in humans.
Funniest thing is that the brain juice was supposed to be what, $60 million per vial? Each torpedo probably costs $5 million. the speedboat, ship and sub rental? probably $30 million per expedition.
Gonna be honest, I think most people just want to play as a Marine is Space Vietnam. An open world guerrilla simulator? Dynamic Na'vi ambushes and assaults on human FOB's? Launch combat recon patrols and target villages with napalm? A squad of likeable troops to lead? Yea, that'd be kino.
>Ubisoft operates at 10x the budget of other studios >Nobody buys their games
I gladly supported Ubisoft until their GAAS phase. As an offline player (console) their single player games went against the gaming trends.
The first game was fun, but the story was so one finished. You could Plaza human and then betray the other humans, but then have key bosses that you killed early come back to life in later cut scenes. I don’t think Ubisoft tested their game before release.
tbh the tech humans use in avatar is pretty primitive for someone who can travel at ftl speeds
In lore, it's actually that the RDA is limited by transnational treaties so even though they could glass Pandora, all governments on Earth would go against them if they did.
Ah yeah, not unfair. But at the same time between the Renaissance and now (400-600 years) we've kept the same method for weaponry. I can believe 120 years from now (in the lore), humans still use projectile weapons.Besides biological warfare, I haven't seen any innovation in weapon's tech, only advancements in current tech.

It would be like landing a force on mars today armed with flintlocks.

Do you expect the amoebas and bacterias on Mars to resist our flintlocks?

This isn't actually that far off from what could happen. If you're sending a completely self-sufficient unit somewhere for YEARS, and into unknown territory, you want them to be able to feasibly repair their gear themselves and avoid as many points of failure as possible. So maybe not flintlocks, but they'd probably get something mechanically simple like AK47.
>resource was low
Not exactly, in the first movie the mineral is about room-temperature superconductors that will help the energy crisis. Besides energy, Earth is fine. The second movie is silly about it though.
nothing is saving ubisoft at this point they literally couldn't prostitute themselves out to other companies better download and crack anything ubisoft you own cause their launcher will be gone soon
At the start of the first movie you had this imposing scene where a human airship first appeared and forest people had to run away because their arrows were just bouncing off metal and reinforced glass.
How come they just keep piercing that glass with arrows later and basically oneshot every pilot?
Show gameplay
>can't kill smurfs and colonize a planet
In the trash, I'll just play the first game instead.
Was this game any good?

more fun than it had any right being

Can I choose the human faction and genocide the tall lanky smurfs? if not I'm not even pirating
No, they confirmed it's only na'vi campaign this time.

is there any gameplay yet?
lol, nope. It will be generic garbage that plays exactly like AC Valhalla/Far Cry 6/Ghost Recon Breakpoint and will bomb just like the movie just did.
The movie didn't bomb
Depends on how you look at it, it has made a lot of money, but not more than it cost to make. A non-profiting product could be considered a bomb.
It's been out for 34 days and made 1.9 billion, seeth.
A2 is about to cross the 2 billion milestone just like the first one despite coming much later than its predecessor did. The fact is general curiosity and people being fatigued of capeshit and other genres helped it out.
>movie hasn't made back its budget or become profitable because it cost literal billions to make
>somehow this is "not a bomb"
That’s for all three movies total. Originally it was going to be one huge, long film before execs got Cameron to reel it in.
>literal billions to make
Not true, why are you homosexuals so invested in lying about Cameron's work?

cope, seethe, dilate, etc

I wish, an RDA game with nu-GR shooting and tacticool dressup would be a major guilty pleasure.
So I can create my own Avatar and fall in love with a blue cat woman waifu and level happily ever after?
No HFY, no buy.
This is fricking moronic
Quarritch would never say that
Yeah, he'd throw in some statements about low gravity making you soft and being turned into israelite-israelite beans.

>words words words words
Some soft overweight neckbeard wrote that shit.
I rewatched Avatar last week and was surprised when this speech wasn't in the movie. Could have sworn this was really in the movie
avatar would never have genuine passion about anything that isn't "nature sure is pretty"
I love the seethe this image constantly generated for almost a decade
Even to this day
Funny part is that they KNEW people would sympathize with the humans if it was just another 'fight for resources' story, so instead they made it about mercenary's personal vendetta and whale poachers.

>it costs 100.000 dollars to fire this weapon for 12 seconds!
but you have no idea what 60 million is worth in the movie
How the frick do Avatar movies make billions of dollars is one of those mysteries I would never know.
I want to bring a Navi girl to earth and turn her into my sex slave
these movies are comedies right? Im not meant to take this shit seriously I hope
>they have human facial expressions
>but also cat ones 🙂
Oh my bad lol they're completely original alien concepts that aren't just the ideas of a 12 year cameron who saw an episode of star trek once
Especially the 2nd movie had many cases of 'writer's poorly disguised fetish'
lol. billion dollar franchise btw
Looks pretty good.
Yeah any bathroom stall doodle can look good if you put hundreds of millions of dollars into animating it. Doesnt make the base concept any good
this is the movie that " looks real" to people?
still looks like shit
not shifting my opinion at all
thats the worst looking one yet
is this movie released in 3D i can watch it in my VR headset
Not yet, I dont know if this one will, but I think the first did.
i hope so i know the multiverse of madness got one gonna check it out soon
I fricking despise these digusting looking ayylmaos
gato sexo

A spacefaring civilisation not roflstomping some tribals is really dumb.
tbh the tech humans use in avatar is pretty primitive for someone who can travel at ftl speeds
"Upload yourself into a lab-grown alien body" is pretty impressive.
Also they're barely FTL, they freeze themselves to travel.
In lore, it's actually that the RDA is limited by transnational treaties so even though they could glass Pandora, all governments on Earth would go against them if they did.
I think he means that their small arms are fricking archaic in a timeline where FTL exists
Anon, we have lasers and shit today. Turns out they're just more expensive and less efficient than hurling a bit of sharp metal at someone.
How much do you think going FTL costs in gas? several quadrillion I bet
They sure burned a lot of rocket fuel just to land their ships. Probably more than there exists on Earth today in that one scene.
>sending the equivalent of a small human city costs a lot

I thought the conflict was that resource was low on earth and that the humans are basically the UNSC

You can start posting anything about the game anytime now OP.
It might die honestly. Ubishit isn't exactly a quality development studio anymore.
They should've just plagiarized Halo Wars and make it a casual RTS.
Maybe Ferngully in Spehss would actually have been culturally impactful.
sex with reef bawd
That would be kino to watch it in VR
you just want to fap to slender blue women
Why would I do that?
At the start of the first movie you had this imposing scene where a human airship first appeared and forest people had to run away because their arrows were just bouncing off metal and reinforced glass.
How come they just keep piercing that glass with arrows later and basically oneshot every pilot?
Maybe Eywa told them the type of material they could use to pierce that glass.
>oh shit he's pulling back on his bow for several seconds, I can't just squeeze a trigger in 0.03 seconds to end him, Ill just watch as he kills me

he needed to rev up the minigun first you noob
