just picked this up on sale. its really cool. its mostly a walking art gallery. sure theres puzzles but it really seems like you're supposed to play it just to soak in the environment, which is one ofnthe best ive ever seen.
only a couple hours in at this point. also my save was corrupted and i had to blast through the first couple puzzles again, so that's bad. hope it doesn't happen again
what do other anons think about it?

I loved it and I wish it was longer. Be sure to check out the art book when you finish it, the world they've created is pretty cool.

Kind of glad it didn’t drag on, it lacked a lot of depth. It’s not like alien isolation where there was enough content to actually justify it being over 8 hours to complete.

I thought it was boring as all hell and a bland, unimpressive visual experience. I genuinely forgot it ever came out.

You're better off looking at the original paintings - whose quality isn't matched by the Scorn - because the gameplay here just sucks. The puzzles were bad enough but when I got into the combat it brought on despair, not the despair of a surreal nightmare, but the despair in dealing with the total incompetence of the devs.

    >hurr it's survival horror the combat is supposed to be shit

Nah, the Silent Hill argument doesn't work here. The game is hobbled and sludgy, every action you take has shitty feedback, and that wasn't how it felt to play Silent Hill.

it was great as a Game Pass game.

my wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere and world.

the story leaves you thinking after it ends.

it could've had more game in there imo, most of the time it felt like I was just playing Myst or Riven, just puzzles and pretty environments but with combat

I thought this walking sim was incredible until the 3rd act when it turned into arguably the worst FPS I had ever played.

You don't have to shoot, if it's a small critter you can just let it walk away, if it's big and on 4 legs just run away.

To clarify: The game turns from lookiewalkie, to puzzle game to Survival Horror into action game.
I am not claiming the survival horror phase is not hard because HP and ammo is sparse but nothing impossible if you got hands and eyes. Webm related I was stuck at for half an hour of retrying cause I fricked myself with saving over too much damage taken and ammo used without need.

Absolutely garbage game. Fantastic visuals, atmosphere and sound but the gameplay is utterly atrocious and the shooting mechanics are trash. I would have honestly preferred if the game did away combat entirely and was simply a walking simulator. Even the puzzles aren't very satisfying. The very first puzzle was an utter headache.

They really should've made it more apparent that you can avoid most if not all shooting if you just let the creatures be.

Sometimes I just want to break free and I can't think of a worse way to design a game than interact with bland human inhabitants in a slow-paced sci-fi RPG, with a wide variety of the same things as you can imagine and be a good fit for your business and your career is a great asset to your company and the industry in particular is a great asset to the company, and the industry in particular is a good fit for me.

I have played with a lot more heroes and the office of my own in this world than I ever have in the world of the android, and the industry is the same way as you are in your business as you will not even know what to do. I will try any time tomorrow morning, or friday afternoon, or evening. I liked Scorn.

Scorn sucked. I'd have a few things to say about this one, but I can't think of anything else to say about it. It just... exists. I don't care.

There is no need to apologize. You have failed as a dev and being that low with a first project is just laughable. Better luck in the future, if there's any. Game Pass killed your game for good. No one made a thread about it for the past year or so.

Played it day 1 on gamepass and it was fantastic. Not many games manage to change genres this fluent during the game and of course the visual and sfx design was phenomenal.
A shame that the discourse for it got ruined by 2-3 youtubers making shitty clickbait videos claiming that a conceptartbook having unused stuff means the game was shit and incomplete.
I don't expect most people to get this style of game and not be confused because of AAA brainrot anyway.

      You suck at videogames.

No, I'm pretty good at video games. Scorn just sucks as a video game. I'm not against "walking simulators" when the game world is a treat to explore, much like Scorn's was, but every other element of the game felt tacked on, the story is painfully hollow (which I could have forgiven if it wasn't for the completely unearned ending). The boss fight was a dreadful experience that wasn't tense or interesting, it was mundane and god awful to navigate because, again, the combat feels like it was tacked on last minute.

I'm not one of these 'gameplay is king' gays who can't enjoy an experience because it doesn't have innovative gameplay. I loved the Legacy of Kain series specifically because of its world and characters. Scorn is trite however.

First half hour has you solve a sliding puzzle and a tram switch puzzle. At the same time. In awe of what protracted development does to games.
    Scorn is its own Scorn.

Added to that, interacting with consoles and movement in generally is terribly slow or bloated with animations so figurting it out for the first time is a pain in the ass if you make a single mistake. The egg / sliding object puzzle is especially bad because everything looks the exact same because of the obscene colouring/lighting. The egg you're supposed to extract has two little white lines on it that you could easily mistake for being surface reflections, and everything else just blends into one another.
Starting the game out with that shit was such a bad choice. It's the kind of puzzle that feels like it's the final challenge in a string of similar puzzles that came before it.

        Anonymous

I suspect the puzzles were thrown in haphazardly in a late attempt to artificially extend the game's length. The puzzles are shit but if it adds some more hours on then they can charge a higher price. Scorn is really one of those two-hour-long indie artgay games that should be no more than £8, but it has been disguised as something more substantial.

I though it looked absolutely amazing, positively disgusting. But awful combat and lazy puzzles really soiled the fun. It's a bad shooter but also a bad walking sim. I'm fine with slow shooters, but SCORN felt just wrong.
