no, they're hamstrung by the 'fair pvp' meme (even though the game isn't fair or balanced at all) which stops them adding anything meaningful to do in the game besides unlocking ugly as frick cosmetic items
Ok. Cause I looked through the entire Pirate Emporium and only found cosmetics, nothing that would have an affect on gameplay. So you must have some special different version of the game than the rest of us.

sometimes i hear anons talk about cosmetics making minor differences, like sails that are ripped at the bottom give more view for the guy on the wheel or guns with slightly better views down the barrel, real basic shit, idk about anything else, a few emotes are nice for tucking but you can earn those last i checked with ancient coins

There are some cosmetics like sails with a tiny little bit of view at the bottom (but most competent people just leave their mid sail up a little bit to see anyway) and there's like one or two gun/cannon skins that have little nubs or model details that can technically be used as aiming sights (though again, not really that big a deal because you already know where to shoot and they're not calibrated for aiming).
There are some emotes like the barrel and whatnot, but all of those are free so it doesn't matter. And any emotes that are "designed" for hiding, are just more funny than anything else because again, if you're searching for tucking/hiding players you're still going to find them anyway barring EXTREME edge cases.
There are no Pay2Win mechanics at all. Anyone claiming there are, is just shitposting.
Crew sizes can be unfair if all things are equal, but they almost never are. 3 good players on a brig will beat 3 good players and 1 mediocre one on galleon, since the galleon gives less margin for error. Galleons are also more vulnerable to certain things like fire, ballastballs, and chain shots.
The game has never tried to be perfectly balanced for every person and ship and it probably shouldn't be. Also:
>veterans preying on newbies simulator
How is this not every single multiplayer game ever? All you're saying is "the better players will win", and yeah no fricking shit they will.
>excuses excuses excuses
yeah like I said, they're hamstrung by the 'fair pvp' meme that isn't even true, not sure why they're sabotaging their own game design for an imaginary ideal
There's a few main reasons why Ganker doesn't like it >No leveling up, combat is skill based. Same reason Ganker hates fighting games >Game is very socially oriented. To get the most out of the game you need to sail with friends or at least be willing to talk and work with strangers >Not anime
>>Not anime
I don't care about that, I love the classic Treasure Island vibes, but the lore is pretty meh and there's not much to the world and barely any interesting NPCs. This game doesn't do anything fun with its own world, would rather play Monkey Island as a pirategay.
Did they ever even add any new content to the game?
Last I checked it was still just 3 ships, and 4 different weapons.
You couldn't even change the weapons on the ships themselves.
>Can't spawn in captaining a skeleton vessel just to be a lootbag for other players >The more player ships you sink, the better your ship, crew, and loot becomes
I still for some god awful reason play this shit and no, its still a giant pile of trash. terribad PVP, unlocks that are all ugly as sin and entirely cosmetic, also you still can't play as a skelly or a ghost, its shit.
eh i'mma still hold my cynicism till it's official, shit tends to change from internal servers to normal ones and they might say frick it before releasing it.
Ok, feel free to be a fricking moron who knows nothing about the game. Yeah they've already completely developed it and it's ready to go but they'll just cancel it because frick it.
It's also one of the main selling points of the next season so it's not getting removed.
oh cool you can be a skeleton? so you'll resurrect and spawn on beaches to attack players and stuff? that sounds neat
oh wait >Curses are a purely cosmetic element of the game and add no ...
RIP why are these devs so bad, no one gives a frick about your stupid shitty cosmetics, make some actual content for frick's sake
Any sloop chads struggling with the new balance changes? They're mostly good and advantageous, but the double chainshots on sloop masts makes sloop vs sloop such a chore.
The other week we had an hour long sloop v sloop fight that ended with neither of us sinking. Granted the battle kept getting interrupted at the worst times by PVE, but trying to get two successive chainshots has been tricky. Strangely I don't have this problem hitting masts when fighting galleons or brigs.
You do, but it's one way to get them down. I'll get a little closer than I like so I'm confident in my shots at fire two or three to be sure it goes down. Then just follow up with some blunderbombs to be sure it falls and try to work from there.
But yeah solo fights can be a bit of a slog now outside of a lucky oneball, and even then with the respawn times that's no guarantee.
I bought the game because I thought it will have the same vibe as AC4:Black Flag.
I was really disappointed. This didn't worth 40 euros.
Second worst purchase. Worst one was Starbound
>bought a game instead of trying it for $1 on gamepass >bought a game he had no idea what he was getting into >probably got raped by the first crew he saw and ragequit
Good riddance, pleb.
I'd pay 40 euros to not have all the bullshit xbox store shit running all the time on my PC. Even when not doing anything with it, it has like 5 processes running in task manager using up resources
It's gonna get another PvP focused update with a brand new gamemode, just like arena back in 2019, and will once again NOT add new weapons to the main set of 4 the game's had since launch. It will not add the boarding axe they scrapped in pre-dev, it will not add any ranged weapons. After the mediocre trident which isn't a real addition to the weapons, but a sort of pseudo-weapon, I was wondering if they would learn their lesson and actually have the courage to do something to pvp combat before it gets too complicated to update every cosmetic to include new additions.
metaslaves have never once given a single piece of feedback that was any good for this game, from pre-alpha to today, not one good take. Shut your mouth.
>moves goalposts
moron the fricking pistol doesn't even work properly on the current netcode. It's a useless weapon unless you enjoy seeing half your shots missing.
I've said it before but it honestly feels like a nicer-looking version of a Unity game. The combat really fricking sucks and is incredibly unsatisfying, it's actually inexcusable to have first person combat this bad in 20XX. Also it only happened like 3 times in the 40 hours I played but there are definitely hackers that NOTHIN PERSONNEL'D themselves into my shit a few times. I looked it up and there were a few incidents similar to mine but the community was typical "HURR DURR MS DOES NO WRONG, YOU PROBABLY GOT BOARDED AND DIDN'T NOTICE" Overwatch fandom-tier replies.
Yeah, the community for this game is honestly one of the worst I've seen for a game.
But, it seems to mostly be dominated by PVP gankers who just wanna farm kids who play the game out of curiosity on gamepass and refuse any measures that might stop that.
So, it's not really surprising that they are the way they are.

That's too bad, i love pirate themes and the aesthetics from the game seem nice, was thinking about playing it, but i can't stand griefing. Isn't there an alternative game?
Galleons are so shit it's not even funny at this point. Semi-competent players in sloop or brig with few cursed cannonballs can fricking destroy you. good luck doing any kind of manouvers, fixing hull on 2 decks or raising anchor for the tenth time you cannonball magnet

Yeah, it's annoying you can't really chillout on galleon. If you see another ship coming at you then thats that. Fun's gone. If the sloop or brig are not stupid they will just keep their distance and never come straight at you. If that happens you are looking at 40 minute borefest of a fight.
but what if you're a new player? just get fricked and quit amirite?
Pretty much. Player retention is pretty shit after season drops. As a new player the game can be fun up to the point you get attacked by double-gunning, bunny-hopping, food-spamming morons. When you discover that that's how pvp is in this game and you were looking for some le epic naval combat the desire to play is gone
I'll never understand why people shitpost pretending they care about the game getting something like PvE cheat servers, but then when asked why their only reply is "lol id never play the game anyway lol who cares".
I used to play this game, both solo and with frens, Lately this game feels more dead that i ever. No i didn't check about live players back then and now, and frankly i don't care. What i care about is that a year ago i used to check the horizon every 2 minutes just so i can prepare for the server hopping reaper brig, now i will be lucky if i see another ship during a full session. Seems like even the salt-harvesting pvpers got tired of spawnkilling 12 year old kids on their first gold hoarders voyage.
>ship sunk while on island doung tall tale >enable esp and hunt doen the frickers >aimbot cannon them down >they leave server >take loot and finish tall tale
The game has never been serious. The literal pinnacle of Sea of Thieves isn't the loot, isn't the combat, isn't the cosmetics, isn't the story, isn't the progress... it's the fun experience you have sailing with friends... that's it. If you have three good friends the experience is amazing. If you are solo you are wasting your time, literally. The amount of time it takes to carry loot from point A to point B solo is excruciating, especially if you get sunk.
no, they're hamstrung by the 'fair pvp' meme (even though the game isn't fair or balanced at all) which stops them adding anything meaningful to do in the game besides unlocking ugly as frick cosmetic items
How is it not fair?
its pay2win garbage
How?
educate yourself homosexual im not spoonfeeding you

found the noob
This frickwit has never played hahahaha
gr8 b8 m8 I r8 8/8
Fricking larper motherfricker
No it fricking isn't pay to win. The only upgrades are cosmetics dumb fricking butthole.
main reason is the different crew sizes, but there are multiple things that turn the game into a veterans preying on newbies simulator

I thank you for being honest when you admit you refuse to read my post.
Yes.
no
This game was made for morons and their moron friends. Anobody with a brain would avoid this waste of time shit game.
no its shit

This is quite true actually. Ganker users don't have any friends to play with and that's why they hate it
There's loads of new content. No the base weapons are the same, but there are newer secondary weapons.
Those are two different concepts, by the way.
Wow, there's still no new weapons or ships?
Lmao, wtf are they doing? Even shit like Guns of Icarus had different ships and loadouts.
NO IT HAS TO BE COSMETICS ONLY TO PRESERVE THE PURITY OF OUR PVP
>Last I checked it was still just 3 ships, and 4 different weapons.
Your definition of "content" seems to be something that will never be in the game.
So in that case, no, they have not added more cannon types and more weapon types to replace the ones that already exist.
it's a co-op game that gives you the option of going solo but it will never be fun that way
You should be able to use a swing without someone pushing you.
my friends keep asking me to play it but it is sooooo boring how do i tell them they have shit taste?
>game has a PVP focus
>you can't play as the skeletons
I will never give a shit until this changes.
>Can't play as the skeletons
Season 8
>Can't spawn in captaining a skeleton vessel just to be a lootbag for other players
>The more player ships you sink, the better your ship, crew, and loot becomes
I still for some god awful reason play this shit and no, its still a giant pile of trash. terribad PVP, unlocks that are all ugly as sin and entirely cosmetic, also you still can't play as a skelly or a ghost, its shit.
shame ubisoft fricked up skull & bones so much, I was hoping it would force Sea of Thieves to add some actual real stuff to earn
Skeleton and Ghost curses are coming next season.
I'm not convinced, they couldn't even be assed to make curses past season one, why the frick would they start now?
They're already live on the Insiders servers, you can go see them now.
eh i'mma still hold my cynicism till it's official, shit tends to change from internal servers to normal ones and they might say frick it before releasing it.
Ok, feel free to be a fricking moron who knows nothing about the game. Yeah they've already completely developed it and it's ready to go but they'll just cancel it because frick it.
It's also one of the main selling points of the next season so it's not getting removed.
You are so stupid
Are these going to be OP in terms of being visually harder to see.
I doubt it, then again I don't think any cosmetics in the game are particularly hard to see.
oh cool you can be a skeleton? so you'll resurrect and spawn on beaches to attack players and stuff? that sounds neat
oh wait
>Curses are a purely cosmetic element of the game and add no ...

A little, you just have to wait till you have better shots and don't be afraid to rapid fire two or three in a row.
>don't be afraid to rapid fire two or three in a row
You burn through so many very quickly though.
You do, but it's one way to get them down. I'll get a little closer than I like so I'm confident in my shots at fire two or three to be sure it goes down. Then just follow up with some blunderbombs to be sure it falls and try to work from there.

Interesting to see people running a 1 core processor in 2022.
The game is built on Xbox Live, so you're going to have that stuff running anytime the game is on.
You might have it set to run on startup, you have to disable it
you can't disable all the services it uses and they just come back if you kill them in task manager
It's gonna get another PvP focused update with a brand new gamemode, just like arena back in 2019, and will once again NOT add new weapons to the main set of 4 the game's had since launch. It's not a new game mode. It's a new tool within the existing game mode.
>wanting new weapons on the current netcode
Never go full moron.
Which may improve. They're testing a new hitreg system which is a hybrid hitscan/time of flight which will hopefully make the flintlock more usable.
Is it on the test servers now?
Not right now, they did a few tests on it previously and are determining what to do next.
are you implying that had the game shipped with 10 weapons we would have to reduce to 4 now? I don't think im the one with the moronic take.
I'm implying that it's moronic to add anything new to the meta when the current meta is already broken thanks to the netcode, moron.
metaslaves have never once given a single piece of feedback that was any good for this game, from pre-alpha to today, not one good take. Shut your mouth.

Galleons are only good for skilled crews only. Random crew? Don't bother. Friends who frick around? Don't bother.
You can frick up most galleons by simply shooting firebombs at them. Most crews will crumble under the pressure.
meant for
Yeah, it's annoying you can't really chillout on galleon. If you see another ship coming at you then thats that. Fun's gone. If the sloop or brig are not stupid they will just keep their distance and never come straight at you. If that happens you are looking at 40 minute borefest of a fight.

Pvp should be much more focused on ship combat rather than boarding, mostly cause of the terrible netcode and weapon hitreg
I'm doing everything I can with these leaks to get you banned from sot
Still no pve only servers so... no still boring.
>Still no pve only servers so
