Why are the Brotherhood in West Virginia, how did the frick did get there, and what do they want?

        Anonymous

They're there because 76 is a reboot of the series because Bethesda has always wanted the games to be set right after the war but stuck with the old timeline to milk the iconic characters/groups.

Iirc the in game explanation is Maxson sent out his declaration and some other units across the US agreed with him over rebelling. So there was some radio chatter and agreements on a rough foundation then the bombs dropped and everyone was cut off and left with the name and basic goals.

There was the appalachian chapter who magically contacted the west coast brotherhood and eventually died out. Then there was an expeditionary force sent by the west coast chapter who magically made it all the way from the west coast just by walking.

Okay so what you’re saying that there is no Appalachian Brotherhood chapter. And that Fallout 76 is just a fun little non-canon side project by Bethesda to squeeze out some extra cash cool I can respect that

            Anonymous

No. I'm saying there is an Appalachian Brotherhood but in the original game you come in and all of Appalachia is wiped out including those brothers. All that are left are the bots and mutants. That part of the game is still in there. Then people came back through expansions which was the adding of human npc's and that is when they introduced west coast brotherhood. Also they added one npc who was apart of the appalachian chapter but abandoned it.

All fallouts after 1 are non-canon cash grabs.

I played it for a few years and put thousands of hours in until I finally quit it. It has too many bugs client side, more bugs than one can count server side, too many disconnect issues, and a whole host of bad game design flaws. After the lower effort Pitt expansion I realized the game was over and they weren't even pretending to try anymore. They had already moved all of their energy and effort to starfield so why even bother with supporting this buggy messy they will never fix or add decent content to. After I left I saw their latest barely there content nuka world tour and it was demoralizing. It was utter shit.

There is no such thing as "servers" like in the olden days. Your instance is just a world existing alongside multiple worlds on a server blade in a server farm in some cheap hellhole. You are not even going to get an entire blade just for your private world. It is not economically prudent.

The real problem is as a world exists it accumulates issues until it is crippled whether it is public or private because their server side software is just so terrible. The best, most consistent demonstration of that is unlooted cargo drones flying over the mothman capital. Other more tedious examples are quest/event failures like empty cabinets in breach and clear or not being able to get beyond gates/doors in quests even when meeting all prerequisites.

            Anonymous

Another example is not even being able to get into lode baring though the rubble was cleared.

I liked the time I put into it. The world is a lot better than 4s and the story "fine." It at least kept my attention long enough to finish it but I didn't like everything else enough to keep playing it after I ran out of story. The ammo economy gets kinda fricking nuts in endgame if you don't spec into specific play styles.

It suffers from bad weapon design where otherwise cool weapons are either mega nerfed or suffer from shitty design oversight, like how plasma guns and laser weapons receivers add a shitty fire dot and no armour pen, unlike the ballistic auto weapons(and especially that steam railroad rifle, that thing is fricking nuts with auto receiver).
or the fact theres 3 nearly identical revolvers, (.44, Western and Single Action) where they fire slow but don't deal enough damage to be a fun and viable gameplay choice once you hit 50+ and also cost too much AP to make them good VATS guns.
The Single action is especially shit since you reload 1 bullet at a time but it's so fricking slow it feels like dogshit to use

Meanwhile, ballistic auto weapons have close to no AP cost and access to the most types of modifications, making them the best type of gun to use. Basically while the cucks who use revolvers or semi auto guns and bolt actions are cycling a new bullet or reloading, the full auto commandos have already VATS killed every enemy in the area.

To put it into perspective: Maxed out build using the best revolvers or bolt action rifle like the hunting rifle has an average dps of 80 and you can't oneshot kill most of the tough mobs
Fully automatic guns can easily reach over 1000 dps and that's without massive damage multipliers like sneak damage, VATS crits or headshots which can easily double or even tripple that damage output and since VATS crits ignore damage resists you can destroy the endgame bosses in seconds all by yourself

      Anonymous

Also they bother put the 10mm submachinegun yet it isnt by modifying a damn 10mm pistol , is a diffrent weapon or swap the goofy ww1 assault rifle shit by the arn-15 of fallout 3 that is applied as skin of the handmade rifle

        Anonymous

oh yeah that also reminds me that we have perks cards specificly for automatic pistols, but it only applies to the auto receiver version of the 10mm, Laser and plasma guns and the 10mm SMG is actually a commando rifle.
Meanwhile there's 4 exclusive rifles for commando(Handmade, Combat rifle, Assault, 10mm SMG).
They really need to flesh out that weapon type with unique variations

Played for a few years and just recently quit. The game was getting good, but they decided to nose-dive it again. They fricked up any fun build, nerfed just about anything interesting, and the battle passes no longer have anything interesting. They've gotten so desperate that they're now putting up Fallout 4 items.
Its biggest update was just a worse version of the daily ops.

The Pitt was genuinely lackluster. The update as a whole has really reversed alot of the progress they had made with the game. Nuka World on Tour was neat but I think the game needs a big wastelanders style update again.

Heck use the expeditions to let us go to a whole new game map area. Because as of now, the most fun I get from 76 is just doing the dailies and taking pictures of amusing things in other people's camps.

It is not as bad as fallout 4 where everything when wet looked like it was coated in vaseline but it is still pretty bad.

I can play VR skyrim with no cage and no teleporting. Full movement and jumping and camera shake. I don't get sick easily.
Playing fallout 76 is the only game I've encountered (besides ESO) to make me sick to my fricking stomach.

compare it to WoW, another seamless open world that encourages exploration. Movement in that game is smooth as butter, quick and painless. you can turn your brain off when walking in a direction and practically stare off and watch it like a movie.
Fallout 76 on the other hand has so much camera shaking, pointless swaying, so many literal bumps in the road. so much pointless trivial encounters, and so much space with no direction. I hate it. everything about it feels wrong.
I would argue that being a seamless open world was the worst direction. Nobody asked for that. I would have preferred levels of unique themes and details. Junk cities, cave systems, Military installations, mountain fortress.
The only thing in fallout 76 is a massive waste of time with lots of little TURDS scattered every 200 steps, but nothing that makes you feel like you're missing out from not exploring.

Solo content is alright. Enemies scale to your level so you probably won't have to deal with too much grinding. Also other players tend to be quite helpful with quests and interactions.

The main base game story is basically a series of fetch quests where you learn about the Scorch Plague and what happened initially to Appalachia. The dlc stories give more in the way of interaction with other characters and story beats.

If you can get it for cheap and like Fallout than go ahead. Heck even some classic Fallout guns are in 76.

yeah I really enjoyed it during 2020-2022
they really needed to expand the map and for some fricking reason they never did, and thats why I had to quit as I cant do the same event for the 1000th time anymore

but yeah, why the frick is adding new locations a hard effort? shouldn't it be really easy, you have lot of assets ready ffs

    No mods.
    No qol.
    No degeneracy.
    >multiplayer fallout
Where all players don't give a frick about each other and do their own thing because there is nothing to gain out of interacting with others, completely negating the point of a mmo.
    I'd sooner play Fallout Frost.

I bought it over a year ago for like five bucks. Thought I'd at least get a good laugh about how shitty I heard it was. Ended up actually having fun and sinking a bit over 500 hours into it. It's not the best game, but I find it pretty enjoyable.

I love having to reboot the game enough times so I can land on a server that isn't laggy as frick, I love that I have to pay a monthly fee to play this alone. There's plenty wrong with the game even if a lot of the hate is unwarranted

When I play this game I feel guilty for not beating fallout 4. So i reinstall fallout 4, play fo4 for a few hours, remember how shit fallout 4 is, then I uninstall both fo4 and fo76. Shit games.

    >its a mp game you can play alone
    What's the point then moron?
    >it takes best mechanics of fallout
Yeah, all those defining mechanics like worldbuilding, roleplay and freedom. Oh wait, none of those are in the game, it's a cheap multiplayer fanfic mod for 4 in a "fallout" aesthetics.

bought the game in 2021 so I don't even hate the game cause of the bugs

    >Bullet sponge enemies, even when they're the same level as you

    >Constantly running out of ammo because I can't carry enough cause weight and I can't store it at my camp cause weight limit.
    >Fast travel costs caps wtf?

    >Every other playing running around is level 2000, because they obviously cheated when the game was bugged to shit
    >If you run with these people it means all the enemys are level 2000

    >level 40, still haven't found any decent weapons or armour
    >when I do find a good weapon, it breaks down too fast

Uninstall cause the grind is too long
Its a shame cause some of the storylines seemed alright
If they had just made it the same as Fallout 4 but with the map and missions of 76 it would have been playable
