Is it really worth the $1000+ price tag?
Her design looks like a ripoff of Asha from Monster World IV.

No. Just emulate it or play a port.
Yes buy it. It will only go up in value
Poorfag
Never gonna have a good coomlection
I have a collection of roms, that's good enough
Nope it's inferior. You can still enjoy the games though as I watch my retirement portfolio of saturn and n64 games swell to such values I'll have a big tiddy goth gf and mcmansion
how much should I pay for the rom?
45 dollars and it’s only downloadable from the switch store and they’ll probably delete it/make it unplayable after the switch becomes obsolete.
It's not
No game is worth anything above 20 bucks
yeah this lol i havent bought a game since 2019 most of those were steam games that were on sale
>Abandon GameCube project in favor of GBA despite Capcom hand them Nintendo dolphin dev kit
Why come wayforward massive retard?
not even GBA, GBC
in fucking 2002
its like they wanted 0 sales
It's GBA compatible and includes one or two extras when played on the GBA.
And the graphics are so good that it might as well be a GBA game. The spritework was breathtaking.
Unfortunately beyond the graphics, it's just a really shitty metroidvania clone.
Ah holy shit no way they were giving a fucking dev kit for FREE and decided to release shantae on the GBC. Giga based this is a chad power move.
Sadness part in Shantae history.
No. I got it for cheap and i was let down. I REALLY wanted it as a kid when it came out, but no stores had it. I probably would have enjoyed it more back then. Playing it now as a big boy, its technically impressive, but a lesser Castlevania style experience.
Nope, maybe $5 but the eShop is closed so gotta emulate. Not a bad game, but no game is really ever worth more than say $100.
No game is worth paying more than the original retail price. Back in 2010~ I forget but I found Shantae at a Play N' Trade for $4.99 which is all I would pay for a gameboy game. Download the rom for free and play on emulator. Shantae is decent but gets frustrating difficult at some parts.
It's worth as much as people are willing to pay for it and it's a pretty rare game. Retro game collecting in general is an expensive hobby. Maybe 20 years ago you could've gotten a good collection for a reasonable price, but today? Just forget about it and emulate them like the rest us or get a flashcard if you wanna play on the original hardware.
>Is it really worth the $1000+ price tag?
Fuck no. You can download it for free.
>Retro game collecting in general is an expensive hobby.
Normal people emulate. "Retro game collecting" is on par with Funko pop collecting in spirit and idiocy.
normal people buy retro game compilations for their ps4s and switches
normal people don't play games older than 5 years or so.
Kinda miracle how Shantae managed to evolve into series after sloppy start. The game itself is amazing though, the future entries unfortunately got stripped from some neat features that first game had
>Her design looks like a ripoff of Asha
Does it really? I guess they both have a ponytail and poofy pants
Just buy the re-release bro
>soulless anime face edit
>soulless anime face
So just like the original then
+ not as football-headed as before
+ body not as jagged
- already too-small nose now even smaller
overall: a modest improvement
The redesign sucks so much. All of the designs after the original art just get worse and worse. Original was unique enough that it wasn't clearly trying to sell itself on the anime/coom crowd.
Even the Marvel Mangaverse series look gorgeous
>Cancel Culture happy LRG
NO!, Also that cover is hideous.
what youtuber did you watch to form that opinion?
>the irony
>Also that cover is hideous.
So is the original's.
The dungeons are fun but the travel between them is the most un-fun thing ever created and the fast-travel function for each individual town is locked behind collectathons.
The very first town has "invincibility to pits" and "invincibility to enemies" consumable items in the shop -- those are there for a reason. You will regret it if you leave town without stocking up on those. (But farming for money outside dungeons is slow and tedious so spend time dancing for money in the first town instead. Don't make the mistake of thinking you can do that later because there's no dance stage in the second town and the process of traveling between towns is soul-draining. And whatever you do, do not head east after the second town and save your game out in the middle of nowhere at the next save point you find or you will probably drop the game forever.)
What do you all want next from Shantae series? Just new metroidvania as usual or something new?
>$1,000 for a fucking GBC game
I don’t think anyone could have predicted that ANY game for this console would be selling at such an exorbitant price in 20 years. I can’t imagine anyone paying that much for this game, then popping it into their GBC and immediately thinking, “This is definitely what a $1,000 game looks like.”
Shantae looks cool and it emulates like shit (or at least it does on the 2016 version of gpSP Kai v3.4), but $1,000? No fucking way.
It's more than $1000 if you want it with the box.
Once half-djinn join smash bro.
Monster World IV will get Super NES port and Shantae sequel on TG-16/PC-FX
She's got nice knockers, ngl.
>Is it really worth the $1000+
lmao do people actually pay that much for a shitty gbc game?
I don't think earth bound is even near that much
I played it on an emulator for about 30 min, it's a really basic (and very slow paced) platformer, got boring very quickly. I've actually completed all the other Shantae games and they're all miles better, even Risky's Revenge.
>it's a really basic (and very slow paced) platformer, got boring very quickly
Pretty much this. It really isn't worth looking into unless you're REALLY interested in it.
>ripoff of Asha
who?
>from Monster World IV
from what now?
No game is worth more than its original retail price. Many games aren’t even worth that, honestly.
>Is it really worth the $1000+ price tag?
lol imagine paying for free games
No game is worth even close to that
it's not even worth 10 bucks
No game is worth $1000. Just emulate.
The best Shantae game isn't even retro.
