Pass it's an incomplete experience with the best characters just randomly vanishing the story with no epilogue. People cope that "it'll be explained in the second one" but it's really dissatisfying. The gameplay is also small bits of low bar action gameplay with hours of unbearable dialogue in between. It's no Code Vein that's for sure.
>It's no Code Vein that's for sure.
I think its funny how much souls fans and hack n slash fans disagree on combat. as someone who loves ninja gaiden, dmc, yakuza, classic gow, etc. I hate souls combat. I noticed that this tends to be the case with souls fans who seem to hate the hack n slash or beat em up genre. not trying to start an argument or what have you I just think its strange how this is typically the case.
The male MC's combat was pretty shit. I didn't find out until after I uninstalled that Kasane somehow plays differently.
The plot was fucking terrible though so the gameplay would need to be way better than it was to keep me powering through that fucking mess. Some of the characters were ok. The best thing about it was the art direction.
I am a souls person and I also like DMC type games but I don't really like the scoring systems. So I end up just buying them on sale and playing them once or twice then being done.
I really liked Rising Revengeance for being a H&S game with a cool novel defense gimmick and a scoring system that didn't emphasize combo shit, it's one of the only H&S games I really played the shit out of.
>It's no Code Vein that's for sure.
Is that suppose to be a bad thing? Because Code Vein was a complete dumpster fire with some of the worst level design in any game I've played and a combat so shallow it puts other Souls clones to shame. And the less we talk about the story, the better.
Obviously it's a bad thing, Code Vein was orders of magnitude better (and more successful) than Scarlet Nexus. If you don't particularly like it that's fine, we weren't trying to improve your own personal taste anon just making a comparison between the two games
>Code Vein was orders of magnitude better
It's absolutely not. It's one of the worst Souls-likes on the market, which is saying something. >and more successful
2 million in 3 years vs 1 million in 1 year + SN got more post-launch support than CV, which was abandoned after some half-assed DLCs that permanently stained its legacy. I'm convinced that the game was just an attempt to get people to play God Eater more than anything else.
Your statements are objectively untrue anon. There's nothing wrong with enjoying SN but don't pretend it's better than it is, especially by trying to drag other games down to your level.
>Your statements are objectively untrue anon
Based on what? Steam numbers instead of the actual quality of both games? If we have to bring in numbers, sure.

I appreciate your attempt to bring an "objective" argument to the table but your data is weak, just look at the numbers of reviews. >610 User Reviews for Code Vein vs 36,100 on Steam >83 User Reviews for Scarlet Nexus vs 8,700 on Steam
Can you see the sample size difference here anon? Do you realize which one is more significant? Without even going into the quality of those reviews by pointing our the Steam ones actually require a sale of the game. The fact you even bothered to use Critic reviews is hilarious, do we need to post the Cuphead journalists webms again? Or point out how many gave it a low rating because the women in Code Vein were too sexy?
But just as a bonus for you, here's CV vs the non-Fromsoft/Nioh "Soulslikes". I have to say too, the fact Code Vein has more than 7x as many reviews in your own example is pretty hilarious

I didn't even want to bring up numbers to the discussion, but to show you how stupid the entire thing is. Because neither numbers nor scores usually prove much. Instead we could have debated the mechanics of each games, or the stories, or some other aspect, but you decided that the way to go was to show numbers in an attempt to be "objective".

There's no reason to discuss those things, they're subjective and we've had those discussions 6000 times, I can basically have them by myself now. >I say Souls-like combat shits on all other kinds of action combat >You'll say even if that was true Code Veins was clunky and post a webm of enemies not staggering from a light attack >I'll post an example of enemies being staggered and juggled by a hammer then we'll argue about which kind of action game is better
>I'll say the less-intrusive but still complete story in Code Vein while still "JRPG" tier cringe was bearable and a breath of fresh air compared to the word vomit in SN >You'll say Code Veins story is just retarded marketing for God Eater and the characters are all bad >I'll say in my opinion every side character boss had more depth, personality and conjured more emotion than anything in SN >You'll call me a retard for thinking anything in Code Vein could conjure emotion >I'll point out the best characters in SN just vanished randomly with no real conclusion or resolution to their story
>You'll say the map design in Code Vein was either linear and boring and bland or insufferably mazelike >I'll say I'd rather get lost in a Souls-like maze than run down typical JRPG empty corridors
It's all a waste of time anon, so instead of having circular arguments that go no where, how about we just enjoy our own games and if we do have to compare them, we look at the numbers which suggest people enjoy Code Vein more, more people are interested in playing it despite it being an old game and it sold significantly more?

If it's the character I think you're thinking of, then I'd have to disagree. >how about we just enjoy our own games
Might as well. I still am not convinced that numbers prove anything, especially if we take into account that SN is a straightforward action game with no build variety, which is probably be the reason CV has the edge in numbers, not to mention a character creator, which allows people to make their animu OC edgelords and waifus.

No even surprised. And no, neither of the twins were interesting. They were literally just generic 'le crazy" characters with no proper motivations, at least not with ones that make sense. As villains they were lame compared to someone like Karen or Kaito, and we know next to nothing about them.

Sure, but as I said, even as villains they are lame. They aren't even proper obstacles, as both are nothing but jobbers in Kasane's route. They feel like those types of villains, the ones that serve more for comedic relief than anything else. I mean, I was half-expecting them to be thrown into the air team rocket style by the time I finished the final fight.

I don't disagree with you but I found it hard to enjoy any of the female characters in that game and the ones that I took a small bit of interest in just got.. nothing. If you're not going to give characters any depth or even the tiniest bit of an epilogue then just don't include them in the first place. In fact just killing them and having them be dead would have been a much better decision, but of course killing cute girls in weebs is pretty taboo too.

I personally found them far more enjoyable than the female cast of CV to be honest. Add to the fact that each had their own character episodes like their male counterparts, and I was already endeared to them.
I did. That's why I didn't call it the worst, but it's up there. Lords of the Fallen and The Surge beat it easily in how bad they are.

Up there compared to what, then? Nioh? Nioh is significantly different to Souls and CV and Nioh 2 only distances itself further. Hellpoint? Hellpoint is good but primarily for its exploration and atmosphere whereas its gameplay is jank, so it's basically the opposite of CV in what it's good and bad at. Salt & Sanctuary? That's generally agreed to be one of the best Souls-likes, despite being 2D, so CV being worse than that isn't saying that CV is bad.
What games are you comparing to to say that CV is one of the worst Souls-likes on the market?
I'm retarded what's the difference between each edition?

Why do critics hate titties? If they took Io out of the trailers it'd have about the same score as Scarlet Nexus, since those gays don't even play the games they review.
the combat is really fun if your a fan of hack n slash games and the psychic power gimmick really adds to it. the game is pretty story heavy and very anime which is were most of the complaints stem from (on Ganker at least), but if you don't mind this or enjoy that type of thing you will probably enjoy the game more.
Favorite game last year.
Story is over top, characters are decent, although some that standout don't get much screen time.
Gameplay is fantastic, both characters are fun and the endgame combat is seamless.
At that price it's a steal.
If you can get it on the cheap it's worth a quick run-through. Combat is mostly brainless. Art design's pretty neat, enemy designs refreshingly funky, and music's pretty good.
Characters are all tropes but acted decently enough. Story is anime bullshit, so just nod along.
It's okay. I've played it for about four hours and the game CONSTANTLY interrupts gameplay for long fucking cutscenes. To those of you who have finished it, does it ever stop fucking doing this? I've been noticing this as a trend in video games in general. It seems I can't play more than fucking five minutes before the flow of gameplay is ruined by a fucking boring ass cutscene. I just want to play the actual goddamn game holy shit
Pass. Just more low quality Bamco chuuni trash. They take random mediocre low budget action games and slap some cheap red and black bishounen and bishoujo with generic chuuni narratives to try to coverup what is actually a painfully below average experience. Within ten minutes, you are already watching "cutscenes" of still images of 3D models talking to each other. It is a glorified audio drama/VN sometimes and the time in between action segments is horrendous considering how low quality the writing and interactions are. The gameplay itself is nothing special either. Bamco always gets away with making overpriced halfassed games because they target strictly weebs.

Excellent argument

pretty good, similar to Astral Chain if you've played that (ofc without the monster on a leash)
Its chuuni edgelord the game. Its not bad, but you gotta like the over the top edginess and not take it seriously

Yeah, but you're neglecting to mention that dungeons last like ten minutes.
Holy fuck
No, it never stops, it's unbearable
no it's basically JRPG-tier in cutscenes
Just skip them

I played the demo and had to quit halfway through. It's so fucking boring and feels too much like an Astral Chain rip off.
Could we have a thread without people shitflinging over Code Vein? They play extremely differently.
Kasane and Yuito could stealthily jerk off each other with their power.
And they do.
Secretly.
Tsugumi saw through their secret.
The trannies can't help but get triggered over CV.
