whatever you do just don't get an AMD gpu, then you WILL have to upgrade earlier.
DLSS just makes gpus last alot longer and having DLSS and FSR at your disposal just makes the gamelibrary bigger for longer.
Better yet get a 4000 series and you can use DLSS3 which will be a godsend in like 5-6 years to get fps in the 90s even if they are fake frames

Get a 2k$ PC on the AM5 platform, you'll be able to swap your CPU without changing the motherboard if the current CPUs start lagging too much. I think you can even get an RTX 40 or RX 7000 GPU on a 2k budget. No current hardware will give you anything for longer than 5 years tho, if that, so don't bother spending too much unless you really want the diminshing returns that more expensive hardware offers.
          https://www.techspot.com/review/2636-amd-ryzen-7950x3d/
look at the "12 Game Average" graph. 20% difference between a $300 and a $700 CPU.

No you dumbass, it's much smarter to buy an AM4 mobo now and then upgrade to AM5 later once the chipset has matured. Otherwise you'll be stuck with the worst version of AM5 when you decide to upgrade your CPU.
            >No current hardware will give you anything for longer than 5 years tho, if that
Complete nonsense. A cheap PC that outperforms the consoles at the start of the generation will still outperform the consoles at the end of the generation. You didn't fall for the "optimization" meme, right? It's literally just physics, anon.

I only ever bought 1 AM4 mobo, a B350 for 80 bucks like 5-6 years ago and now I have a 5800X3D in it and it works liek a charm

Bait but I will reply to help clueless anons. CPU choice matters less than motherboard choice. You can get any 8 core CPU from the last six years and it would run every game fine but you should not get sucked into beta testing AMeme5 motherboards especially since any of those boards under $200 will have less M.2 slots, less SATA ports, less fan headers, worse IO panel, awful memory stability, etc. than a cheap $100 Z590. Not to mention that DDR5 is not worth it and PCIE gen 5 is worthless for gaming.
Your money should go to buying the best 4000 series GPU you can afford (avoid Radeon at all costs) then get a 13600k with a DDR4 Z690 or if you can’t afford that then go 12th gen, or pick an xx900k on a Z590.
Stay away from AMshit as they literally only build their hardware to benchmark well but it can’t run games and is a coin flip to brick your PC every time you update drivers. morons will point at bar graphs and tell you that their $700 7950x3D wins even though it nearly died on jayztwocents and couldn’t even be reviewed early by LTT due to being DOA. Now imagine saving all your money to buy the “best” cpu and your system doesn’t turn on. Can you afford to walk to Best Buy and buy all new parts to troubleshoot each component one by one? If not, then buy intel and NVIDIA.

Being able to OC your CPU by 50% or even more was very cool back in the day. You can hardly squeeze a few hundred MHz extra out of them nowadays, but with CPUs boosting stock to somewhere close to 6GHz I suppose I can't complain. I used to run an i5 750 2.67GHz at 4GHz daily too.

              Used to be
              >oh this has more cycles? then it's faster.
              now it's
              >oh this chip has the newest integrated dynamic memory management between 6 caches and RAM? Great I'll upgrade in two months when manufacturers arbitrarily change the socket dimensions.

Terrible analogy. PC hardware has exponentially diminishing returns the higher you go. Shitty boots designed to wear down after a year are also vastly different than a pair of good boots while sweetspot midrange hardware lasts just as long as high end hardware.

More power, actually. You can get the 6600xt for less than $300 and it easily outperforms the PS5, see

If you buy a PC that's more powerful than current-gen consoles then that PC will last you through the entire generation, as long as you're okay with lowering your settings to match how poorly the consoles are running the games. In other words you only need to spend about ~$600 every ~7 years; less if you're reusing parts.
