Basically this. At least this time most models are new or at least retouched (proper eyeballs and mouth) and it's been said that there are more animations in general. I wonder if we'll get at some point a game with all mons once they have all models, at least just for use it as a selling point.

animations are more work to update than a texture is. i noticed newer mons have more thoughtful animations and personality where others have generic movements.
I would like more animations than detailed fur/skin or glow effects. that stuff can be updated later live.
I would be ok with them taking a new pokemon break to get all their pokemn models together and prepped to be put into one game like Pokemon GO is actually doing.
So TPC can put them all in they just do not want to put the resources into it. this is due to them constantly pushing a new game one after the other. and making and updating models so that only a smaller roster can be updated in time for release.

guess you could say the scale of pokemon is so big they cant keep it up without massive costs, thus the charge to move and store the data or millions of users from 20 years of service.

Yes gamefreak lied about dex cuts. But it was a noble lie and was necessary at the time to smooth over the situation. PLA and SV has shown is that dex cut was an excellent decision that has allowed them to pump up the quality of their games. And I think for that, we can forgive them.

PLA was definite proof that the dex cut was a bad thing. You make a game that is ALL about catching mons and then you have a dex smaller than GSC released 20 years before it. No wonder that the entire playerbase spent most of their playthroughts catching the exact same pokemon 10 times

Worse thing is, Nintendo already said in a shareholders meeting that Switch's successor will be backwards compatible with Switch. So we can't expect GF to put more effort if they can keep working with Switch 1 as their target (imagine them as they worked on older gens) in order to have a broader install base. This will probably be the limit of their capacities until Switch 3 arrives in the future

There probably is a legitimate reason but it's compounded by the fact that they're pretty fricking incompetent. I would actually be okay with them doing the Dex cut 100% of the time if they actually delivered on the excuse that they were going to improve animations and modeling. The textures definitely look better on these models, but it's just bizarre that not even all the pokémon from Legends came over and a lot of those had very similar changes. They need to seriously look at hiring out even more hands for generation 10 and I hope that is the direction they go because even though these games are going to sell like gangbusters I think it's getting harder and harder to excuse the graphical fidelity and performance as everything else around them becomes just plain old better.
Gen 10 is only Switch 2 we have to redo the models again please understand and look forward to Gen 11 instead

There was no excuse with Sword and Shield but to cut Gamefreak some slack, the models do look significantly better in SV. The new models do a good chunk of of Pokémon a lot of favors too.

can confirm that I’m skipping the game because of the fact that 80+% of my fully trained pokemon aren’t in SV. I don’t care about new pokemon anymore, the fun was them being added to an already existing roster. It kind of doesn’t mean shit now that more and more are removed every game.
