This story in Signalis stops being sad when you realize Ariane led a privileged life compared to the majority of gestalts or replikas in the setting and yet found a way to frick it all up. Am I supposed to feel empathetic for a girl coddled so much by life in a dystopian society that she felt above having to work in a mining facility, ignored her aunt's guidance and ditched reading the basic instructions for her space expedition mission? Her willful ignorance and short-sighted thinking would've been okay had she been the only one to suffer the consequences of her choices through her schizo eldritch nightmare. Instead, a lot of people on Sierpinski and Rotfront were also caught in it. Elster probably suffered the most because Ariane couldn't help but project her feeling of loneliness on a robot who didn't ask for any of it.

The real tragedy of the story is LSTR-512, all the Elster units, Adler and especially Falke having their lives destroyed by a petulant dyke child. Without the "love" Elster would've been able to spare Ariane's prolonged suffering and prevent the fall of S-23 sierpinski

What instructions? The point was to either find a new planet, or die from radiation sickness wasn't it?
      >The real tragedy of the story is LSTR-512
Well, yeah. Wasn't part of the tragedy that it was all unintentional? That Ariane couldn't help herself, that all she wanted was to stop her suffering and in doing so caused more suffering.

        >What instructions?
"Elster units were chosen for the Penrose Program for their adaptability and reliability under long-term isolation conditions. Stoic and reserved, Elster units have a relatively stable neural pattern. It is best for you to leave it alone and interact with the Elster unit as little as possible. Elsters' neural pattern was a soldier of Vinetan origin, so their needs are basic. Avoid talking to the Elster unit about the war. Penrose vessels are fitted with a specialized calibration pod which may help with Persona stabilization. To avoid resurfacing of Gestalt memories, do not show or give the Elster unit photographs, especially of soldiers during the war. Do not show the Elster unit movies, or let it listen to music. Do not try to befriend the Elster unit."

No problem, it was likely due to my poor wording. Her mission was almost guaranteed to fail and the government is to blame for the Penrose program, but her prolonged suffering could've been averted had she not decided to wilfully ignore important documents. Ariane wanting to have some time to herself to find refuge in literal escapism doesnt mean I have to feel sad for her not following basic instructions.

Now my question is, why is the Eusan Nation so moronic? If you aren't meant to remind Elster units of the war or watch films then maybe don't fill the ship with propaganda war films in the first place?

Historically it's happened, moronic directives and impossible shit. Lysenkoism, for example. A society like that expects compliance and obedience without oversight at a point, the fear beaten into you doing what a blockwart can't. But once you're shot out the mass driver, they can't really enforce that stuff. I don't think Ariane would've anyway, she wasn't there to be a proud soldier, she saw it as a way out of Eusan's control. The only catch is Ariane really didn't like Replikas, and it was only time and boredom that made her approach Elster.

I'm not sure about Buyan and Kitzeh, but Vineta is from German folklore. It's a mythical sunken city in north eastern Germany that got flooded because its inhabitants were greedy. Nowadays historians are quite sure that Vineta is based on a flooded part of the polish city Wolin, which had all the buildings necessary for a trading port. That could in turn explain the "mythical" wealth of the inhabitants. The flood would just be religious interpretation then.

Raises a good point, because apparently there was a gun on the Penrose as seen on the start of the game. You know, just ""in case"". So Ariane could very well just have shot the Elster and then herself. Or just herself, whichever comes first.

It makes me wonder about the true nature of the Penrose program.

I've seen some people say it's a way to get rid of undesirables, but it seems an incredibly impractical way to do so when they can just ship them off to one of their gulags, or outright kill them.

Why waste all the time training them, putting them on a spaceship and firing them into space? Doubly so since the Nation is locked in a vicious war and could use all the resources used on the Penrose program elsewhere.

Then again, the purpose of the Penrose program makes no sense. The Signalis solar system is our solar system, and we know with a high degree of certainty that there's no significant orbital body beyond Pluto, and Pluto/Leng is proof of the limits of their terraforming technology. Also, all of this could be accomplished via unmanned probes - they have the 1980s technology to build launch such craft, without all the complications that come with making a habitable spaceship.

My guess is that the Nation suspects there's something out there, an eldritch something, and they're trying to either find it, or come into contact with it. Beyond all the bullshit propaganda they must know bioresonance is not natural, and must know there's something very suspect about it.

My guess is they need a gestalt in the ship to bait whatever eldritch monstrosity into revealing itself.

One of their backup plans was the Penrose program, where the shot off people into space in the hope that they find something within a short enough timeframe so that the nation can escape the solar system.

The Penrose program was a backup plan in case the nation loses the war.
And they were well on their way, with the Empire continually destroying their supply lines.
                >and we know with a high degree of certainty that
We know this due to modern technology. The setting of Signalis branches off near the start of the computer era, which is why all electronics look so outdated in comparison with our modern standards.
                >Also, all of this could be accomplished via unmanned probes - they have the 1980s technology to build launch such craft
I disagree, there's no evidence the Nation is capable of creating such automated systems, with almost all of their advanced technology being based on resonance.
                >My guess is that the Nation suspects there's something out there, an eldritch something, and they're trying to either find it
                What?
                >My guess is they need a gestalt in the ship to bait whatever eldritch monstrosity into revealing itself.

                >I disagree, there's no evidence the Nation is capable of creating such automated systems, with almost all of their advanced technology being based on resonance.
Voyager is 1960s technology and is perfectly capable of achieving such results, and the Nation has fired at least 500 ships into the void.

                >What?
Why go through the trouble of the Penrose program? They built 500+ ships, when all those resources could have been used in the war effort.

And I sincerely doubt they are losing the war. Granted, we only have their propaganda to go on, and I'm not saying they are winning, but there's no indication they are getting desperate.

                >What???
Why not just put a single replika in there? Or maybe a replika and a spare. What's the point of having a gestalt, when replikas are note to be more durable and use less resources.

Again, the way the Penrose program is set up makes no sense. If they were looking for planets they'd build better ships for long-term deep space exploration, not flying caskets.

                The real reasons are
                A) It's good PR to have 'brave explorers' as well as a release valve for those who don't quite fit. Volunteer to get out? What a deal
                B) It gives people a lie to look at of 'finding new worlds' that will release their privation by resources. Same shit oceania did, lingering forever promises.
                C) It's a big reference to Laika and the other kinda pointless shit humans did.
                D) We wouldn't have the tragedy if Eusan didn't consider people expendable. Besides, it's not as if humans are valued above replikas, so humans are the cheaper option.

Ships aren't cheap you mong. Even shitty ones like the Penrose. The Nation is at war, yet they keep firing hundreds, if not thousands of these things into the void on the minuscule chance one of them will stumble upon a planet they don't if it even exists.

All the ships have a set expiration date, they don't use automated ships, they don't build purpose-designed replikas that can withstand radiation better and are suited for deep space exploration, they don't even bother building a better ship that could make the trek to the Ort belt and actually explore.

The Penrose program makes no fricking sense any way you cut it.

Their terraforming "technology" is extremely limited.

Venus is actually uninhabitable, they have floating cities in orbit. Mars is a desert, Leng is a frozen hellhole, Rotfront (Europa?) is no better.

Because you need a human source to ensure they don't go insane.
Replikas aren't perfect machines, they're too human.
And before you ask "then why not put a single human in them", that's because humans are too unreliable. Especially the fodder they send off in space.
The replika is supposed to act like a deterrent. To prevent the human from doing something stupid like turning the ship around.

No you don't. The specific fetish a replika needs is outlined, and very few models require constant socialization. LSTR units don't need it.

                >Defeat is all but certain. The Nation quite literally has no other choice than to try and escape their impending doom.
I'd love to see something from the game that actually proves this.

And no, Empire getting replika blueprints and blockading the Nation is not proof they're losing, just that the war is not going as well as they'd like their brutalized subjects to believe.

                >Because you need a human source to ensure they don't go insane.
False. We have a pretty good idea what fetishes each model needs. LSTRs certainly don't need socializing. In fact, they are specifically mentioned to be solitary in nature.

Anon, I want you to look up the size of voyager and compare its capabilities with the possible capabilities of a ship the size of a Penrose.
                >Does the human magically boost the speed of the radio signal?
The further away a transmitter is from an instrument that captures its signal, the harder it is to receive it.
You can boost this signal so it is easier to receive. The Penrose ship is huge and specifically designed to send signals back to the solar system.
                >No you don't. The specific fetish a replika needs is outlined, and very few models require constant socialization. LSTR units don't need it.
LSTR units don't need constant socialization. They're still human. Loneliness will prove fatal.
                >I'd love to see something from the game that actually proves this.

If only people would actually do research on the topic they're talking about. If only.
                >And no, Empire getting replika blueprints and blockading the Nation is not proof they're losing,
That source I just posted comes from the Nation. Millions of people are starving.
The only way the Nation managed to succeed in their revolt was due to using bioresonance. They no longer have that advantage.
So not only are their supply lines cut off, they also no longer have their one and only advantage in the war.
"Not proof that they're losing" my ass.
                >LSTRs certainly don't need socializing.
Give me a single source that states this. You can't. Why? Because replikas are human enough to have basic needs. Socialization is one such need.
                >they are specifically mentioned to be solitary in nature.

It's factual within the setting that the Empire were the ones that created replika and utilized bioresonance for terraforming (klimaforming), but when the war began, Nation claimed Vineta where the replika imprint complex was located, so they began to produce their own, at least until Vineta got nuked. Seems like most patterns got saved, I doubt that something as important as a replika archive would not be deep within an underground bunker protected by ten layers of security, since it is the backbone of the Empire's and Nation's labor force both. They probably just fricked up LSTR's when moving it, I doubt the process of nuking the place even changed a thing.

Are people this moronic? She's a free thinker in a society with a government that executes people like that. The Space Expedition is just a glorified execution under the guise of "helping" the empire. No one is a good person in this setting. There are 2 empires fighting to the death right now and they both have committed atrocities.

It's not, some parts of the signalis fanbase are just really obnoxious to interact with because "those" people latched onto the game, like fujos would latch onto a popular shonen with pretty boys characters and derail discussion with gay fanarts. It's a similar situation here.
    >female protagonist
    >has a canon female love interest (depicted kissing each other in a 30 seconds long cutscene to explain why the MC went through hell for the sake of love)
    >horror game circumstances results in their story ending in a tragic way (and arguably beautiful depending on the ending)
    >emotional people want to see them happy through fanarts (it's normal)

I think the reason why a lot of trannies took interest in Signalis is because Elster is a robot and not a human like Ariane, the love interest. So it allowed for them to self-insert, not only actual dykes.

I didn't know about the game judging your performance and played ir "normally", I didn't shy away from all encounters but got hit a lot because sometimes the aiming system wouldn't cooperate like I wanted. I found the puzzles to be a bit on the easier side, but I remember feeling very stupid by taking a lot of time to realize I had to use the radio in nowhere to find the prison codes.

It's a shame we barely got to use the different weapons in the game. By the time you reach the latest chapter and get the SMG, the game just ends. I know Signalis is an indie game but it should have been longer and maybe less cryptic with its storytelling, a lot of scenes just fell flat and felt insignificant when I think their intent was to elicit a strong reaction in me. I got the promise ending but couldn't care less about Ariane, all I wanted was to keep the player character alive. Same when Isa died all of a sudden, it just felt empty and meaningless.

Great game, but the secret ending pissed me off.
Loved the story, loved the way it was presented, but this shit makes no sense and adds nothing to the game. Looking into other people's interpretations, it's clear everyone is just grasping at straws and has no single clue what this was about. It was just off putting when the rest of the game seemed so carefully crafted just for there to be a secret, disconnected, nonsensical, shock value ending.

I understand that the game's story/lore is intentionally esoteric to a degree, but everything else at least had connections and allusions to other things in the world that made it all feel cohesive, except for this part of the secret ending.

IIRC, it has to do with the cycles. A fan theory is that Elster and Ariane are just the last of a line of reincarnation of the same doomed couple that includes Elster's base Gestalt and Alina, which goes back to at least the Great Empress herself. Which makes the copium/headcanon that C4-621 and Ayre from Armored Core VI being the one reincarnation which can get their happy ending kinda amusing.

Isa and Adler loosing their eyes would be the result of them also being affected by the loop. (Some scenes from the trailers implied Isa was being "overwritten" by Ariane like the Alina from the gulag)

This gives me a reason not to play the game. Silent Hill dips into symbolism all the time but there's an internal logic to it all. The plot makes sense and can be explained.

The plot is fairly simple and straightforward to understand, it's just presented in an unorthodox way that filters out midwits (the average userbase of this board)

Unironically learn how to read better. The plot is Ariane is a psychic human like the Empress of the East German Empire she is from. She unintentionally warps reality on the planet the ship crashes into and Elster slowly remembers her "promise" which is to kill her and end it. Multiple time loops happen before the start of the game.

Nothing wrong with a plot presented in an unorthodox way. That's as long as it makes some kind of sense in the end. Or the ending shits the bed.

            Anonymous

by the end of it, the game gives you about 85% of the pieces needed to assemble the story. which means that no matter how well and logically you go about it, there will always be something missing, or some contradictions somewhere.
this is intentional. it's supposed to be ambiguous and open to interpretation

It's more of a Silent Hill type of Survival Horror.

I've heard that it's a lot like Silent Hill 2 with early Resident Evil inventory management. Classic Survival Horror.

The game is great, puzzles are understandable, combat is good, but no one can give you a decent explanation of the plot.

        >unexplainable plot
This gives me a reason not to play the game. Silent Hill dips into symbolism all the time but there's an internal logic to it all. The plot makes sense and can be explained.

The entire world was a dream based off of Arianne's memories, anon. Just one that became reality through bioresonance.
The Arianne in the dream was merely a self-insert of the Arianne that is sleeping next to an engine that is leaking radiation and slowly killing her.
A part of Arianne's subconscious realizes that she is dying. Hence the level at the bottom of the mine (which was combined with her repressed traumatic memories of school).
The entire time Arianne's subconscious has been trying to escape by molding anyone into Elster, so that she can fulfill her promise.
Over the course of the game, Elster slowly becomes the Elster of reality. It's only after she encounters the resting place of Elster and Ariane that she becomes Elster.
But here's the thing. Elster can never fulfill her promise.
Elster might be real, but she cannot interact with reality. The possible endings are sequential. Elster, when arriving at the end, learns of all her previous attempts to fulfill her promise.
It's why one of the endings is Elster giving up. She knows she cannot fulfill what she promised to Arianne.
She gives up, Arianne goes back to sleep and the cycle repeats from the very beginning.
But wait, remember the secret ending?
After, enough cycles, after Elster scours every bit of the dream, she attempts to wake up Arianne.
She uses the keys of eternity, love and sacrifice to obtain white lilies (symbolizing rebirth) and makes Arianne's subconscious realize that Elster will never fulfill her promise.
Arianne's awakens inside her own dream.
Her first and final act as god is to recreate her most cherished memory: Elster and Arianne dancing, forever.

      Anonymous

I agree with most of what you said but i don't think the dance at the end of artifact is a mere recreation, between it happening on the present version of the penrose, 512's corpse being missing, and the dance animation itself being slightly different, I believe it's all truly happening in reality with the ritual unifying the memories of the five elsters + falke into a complete revived version of the original LSTR-512

        Anonymous

Yeah, the dude's theory is all whack since the very beginning because the reactor of P-512 is long since inactive and there are no functioning life support systems to keep Ariane alive. The real Ariane is long since dead, her consciousness persisted in the sea of flesh because she's a powerful bioresonant

I wouldn't call all of it real, not in the way of what's standard and typical. Space has become weird, warped and distorted, but as far as we know it's a localized bubble around Sierpinsky. Or perhaps Sierpinsky itself has been moved and that's why no contact has been made with Leng Orbital, why no one comes and why shit keeps getting weirder.
The game never goes into detail about this so it's impossible to really say, but with all the information that's accessible in S23, all the files and diaries and all the random characters with their own motives that are still bumming around in the complex, I think it's fairly certain that it's a real physical area that exist(ed) within the Signalis universe. Otherwise, what would the point be? Just endless red herrings that go nowhere?

Nowhere and onwards is where it all stops making sense.

              Anonymous

By "real" I mean as in "physically interactable with and observable" by anyone who would be outside of Sierpinski and then enter the space. It's definitely not some fever dream of a radiation sickness burnt girl because it affected everyone on the mining facility either killing them instantly and leaving charred shadows on the walls, there's even one inside of the elevator too, or warping them into monstrosities. You do raise good points in regards as to how localized the anomaly had been. It'd be pretty kino to lead a squad into S-23 to investigate the blackout only to run into Ariane not wanting anyone to interfere, with the game quickly turning into equivalent of FEAR.

As to why everything is fricked up (You)r guess is as good as mine, nothing makes remotely sense from before it so why should it now. Maybe it is and we just switched perspective to another Elster of the Hivemind, but then as to why you retain your weapons is, again, anyone's guess.

We have some pretty good examples of how communist regimes cared about their populace after the wars they participated in ended. They usually resulted in greater death tolls than the wars those countries emerged from. So from a purely utilitarian point of view, the greater evil would have been for the Eusans to surrender immediately and let the Empire take over, because it can't get any worse than what they will have to do in the future just to hold on to one more scrap of power.

Yes, the goddess is Arianne. Arianne's subconscious, to be exact.
There is no eldritch entity that they came across, Arianne IS the entity. And she's not eldritch, just a deity that has a small amount of control over her dream.

                Anonymous

"Eldritch hell" in this case is just a shorthand for what she is most likely going to do with the Aeon higherups.

Penrose was probably about bioresonance, because Ariane had undergone esper testing and she scared the Imperial spy shitless. I doubt it was a coincidence that it was her and not some other cadet that ended up on that ship.

                >I doubt it was a coincidence that it was her and not some other cadet that ended up on that ship.
I doubt anything that happened to her was any kind of coincidence. I do doubt the nation knew she was bioresonant - they seem to look for such individuals and cull them, as they view them as a threat.

Then again, they might have known, but I've seen no hints of this anywhere in the story.

Also, wasn't Adler's original the Imperial spy that found out Ariane was bioresonant? Or am I misremembering things?

Yes, I agree, but if they did, why didn't they do nothing about her and waited for her to enlist in the Penrose program?

And yes, it was either that or a reeducation camp for her, but still, that's jumping through a lot of hoops when they could have just ordered her to become a pilot.

Maybe "reeducation" at the ass end of the ass end of the solar system where she couldn't be a problem was exactly what they had in mind for her, until she willingly enlisted to the Penrose program and they saw an opportunity to get her off their hands AND blow their own horns too.

                That makes no sense though.

Sierpinski is Falke's dream, Rotfront is Ariane's, so what is Nowhere then? Where does it come from?

The story is heavily inspired by both Lovecraft and Silent hill, so it would be strange that there is no eldritch monster lurking somewhere in the darkness?

The fact alone that Arine and Elster seem to be locked in a perpetual cycle, even beyond Elster's quest to keep the promise, hints that there is more going on that we are being let on.

The most widespread theory that the eldritch being is just a blind idiot god that has limitless power but no focus, but a strong enough will can wrestle that power and take control of it. Seems like the Nation wanted one of their own there but Ariane turned out not to be it.

The gate is physically visible, anon. We walk through the gate / threshold right at the start of the game.
The threshold is specifically called a gate in game.
It's the gatelike structure we pass through, where Adler acts as its guardian. It's a passage to the beyond, the afterlife, whatever. It's symbolic and archetypal. It's the place we have to get through to move on, but we're stuck in a cycle that stops us from accomplishing what we're trying to do and so no matter how many times we pass the gate, we end up right at the start.
My headcanon is that it represents the problem caused by Elster being formed out of three different people, essentially. The brain, the pattern, and then the replika herself. We seemingly solve it in the key ending, as we place three lilies on what is probably the original person's, the pattern's grave. We move on from being an unholy amalgam of Isa, "Lilith" and Elster, and become simply Elster. We dance with Ariane again.

It's a threshold between the dream and Arianne's subconscious. The Penrose ship serves as a focal point of her subconscious, because her body is in that location.
We travel from Arianne's subconscious, through the dream, back to Arianne's subconscious. The entire game serves as a transformation for LSTR to become Elster.
                Read:

                Countearguments:
They're not Ariane's memories, but Elster / Isa's. Why would we have flashbacks from Isa's POV if they're Ariane's memories? Why would we have the secret books in Isa's home, if they're Ariane's memories?

                >white lilies (symbolizing rebirth)
Lilies are "yuri" in japanese. Yuri dev, yuri game, yuri ending. Rather than rebirth, they represent the three loves between Lilith / Ariane + Isa / Erika + Elster / Ariane. The three women and the love between them that they've gone through in their past lives.

                >It's why one of the endings is Elster giving up. She knows she cannot fulfill what she promised to Arianne.
Elster specifically has not been stabbed in the eye in that ending. Loss of eye represents in the game gaining of knowledge, the same way Odin gained knowledge of the runes in exchange for his eye. This applies to everyone. Isa realizes she's dead when she's lost her eye. Adler realizes the cycles when he's lost his eye. Elster realizes what she must do when she loses her eye.
The only ending where she leaves is the one where her eye is intact. She simply lacks the knowledge on what she must do.

                >Why would we have flashbacks from Isa's POV if they're Ariane's memories?
Because they're repressed memories. It was Erika, not Isa, that saved Arianne from being bullied.
It is a common occurrence that people reliving trauma through their memories to detach themselves from the situation.

                >Why would we have the secret books in Isa's home, if they're Ariane's memories?
Arianne not only knew about the banned book trade that occurred in Isa's home, she also partook in reading them.

The lilies may mean many things, your definition included. The "love" key possibly symbolizes their transcendental love.

Serpinski's records and the medical records note a few. Almost all the gestalts are dead due to ARS. A lot of them were killed by interrogation too.

You think the space program of NASA or the soviet union were cheap? They weren't useful for a war, they were PR tools. It's the same shit. And by standards, Penrose ships are cheap. They're mass-driver fired with a limited supply storage and a shitty, half-shielded reactor. No refuel necessary, no resupply. Falkes are mass produced, the document says every facility has one + one adler + kolibri retinue. ELsters are rare because they're combat engineers for the front and used for shit like geological surveys and other rough stuff, not facility-issue.

Adler was stuck in a no win scenario. On one hand you have eldritch horror eroding reality, on the other you have the horror of being the communist gulag warden, with your side slowly losing the war and his personality destabilizing eventually and him becoming more human all but guaranteed, so he'd be replaced anyway.

Adler is possibly the one character you can empathize most with in the game. Just him being morbidly aware of what's happening and lucid through it is devilish enough, but then he also has to soldier on about it all alone for who knows how long, all the while trying his best to prevent it from progressing knowing full well he has zero influence over it.
The hidden diary entries from 1.2 even hints that he has a Kolibri friend, which makes it all the more horrible for when she inevitably snuffed it and turned into a bloated, mutated mess he was well and truly alone.

                Now that's hell.

                Anonymous

I empathise with a lot of characters, but more in the sense he's not the 'bad guy', he's doing exactly what he thinks he has to or the world will fall apart and he doesn't have any better solutions. His object of programmed obsession is gone, the facility's going to hell and he's insane and he knows it, and his diary proves it. He's beset with fear and helplessness and Elster seems to just be the source of it all to him. Even when he's half-mutated he still tries to stop her.
                >what awaits beyond the threshold?
I still pity Ariane, trying to desperately end her suffering because her bioresonance is making everything vastly worse. If the gates make it leak, that's not her fault.

I think people underestimate Ariane's influence and intent, I don't think she is actively malevolent, but she definitely gave up "trying to die" and after a certain point pursues release by other means, such as apotheosis, if artifact ending is anything to go by. Many of her actions are deliberate, aimed at pushing Elster towards specific goals.

            >Maybe dev made a mistake
I kinda doubt it given the way kanji/hanzi works
Because kanji are derived from chinese characters there are a decent amount of characters that can be read with the same meaning in both languages (albeit with different phonetics), but kanji are derived from traditional chinese characters while the chinese language as depicted in this game uses simplified chinese which can clearly differentiate what's being used such as with TKiY
Interestingly the "magpie goddess" text can only be read through chinese but there are plenty of other appearances of hanzi that can be read in both languages such as picrel
Is this tied to some grand mystery in the lore? Not really, but it offers some interesting food for thought regarding the world building and culture

Why are they sending the rare, specialized Replika unit into the suicide mission instead of a simpler one like a EULR or ARA?

      Anonymous

EULR is not suitable for complex engineering tasks due to their lacking technical skillsets, ARAR is mentally unsuited for the tasks since she can't tunnel outside of a spaceship without inducing an explosive decompression.

Eules are so clumsy they'd do something moronic, too. Like that one who slept outside because she needs a map module to find her bunk.

Out of all of them, ARA with more radiation shielding would make the most sense.

They can maintain the ship just as well as an LSTR. The only difference between the two is that the LSTR is trained for combat.

Now, why would they send a military replika on a mission to find uninhabited planets?

Then why not just train a gestalt to do it then? You can give them a crash course in ship engineering, just enough to make them last until the ship inevitably breaks down. It's not like they're going to find anything other than vacuum.

LSTR's are more rare due to production disruption, the imprint library on Vineta got nuked and her original imprint was lost and all further LSTR's were copied off an existing salvaged replika from Penrose program and not scanned off an original imprint like all the others.

I think bioressonance modules are the limiting factor when it comes to producing Falkes and, possibly, Kolibris. But if there really is a Falke at EVERY Eusan facility along with her cadre of agitated little telepathic women, then yeah they're mass produced.
