    THUG2>THUG1
this is a truth not many people are ready to hear
id take Jackass humor over terrible vehicle sections and no classic mode any day of the week

I liked the story of THUG1 much better - maybe it'd be different for people who didn't just want to play through the game, enjoy it, and move on with their life.

Wait, I thought THUG1 was better than the sequel? Isn't it remembered for the memorable story?

The story in THUG1 is great but everything else is ass. Whoever the hell thought Tony Hawk needed vehicle stages and fricking stealth missions?
THUG1 also only has story and multiplayer, no classic mode at all.

There are like 5 vehicle stages and 1 stealth stage. They're not nearly as annoying as you seem to think.

American Wasteland is underrated, the levels are kino, the story is pretty moronic but that's part of the charm

The story being moronic might be the best part. Every major mission is that goth chick asking you to kill people so they can add another thing to their ranch.

they jumped the shark with this one, bmx in a skating game? they were Cleary running out of ideas which is why it was the last good tony hawk game project 8 was ok but something always felt off with the games after American wasteland

        >bmx in a skating game?
I guess they felt like they had to keep mixing it up because they thought people would get bored of skating games
        Not like that ever happened...

Does literally anyone care that skate is coming back? They keep having betas it I guess they are alphas for it and ive been in two now and the game fricking sucks. Of course ea would frick up what was I even expecting

Everyone was hyped until it was revealed as a F2P GaaS title
they really should have just restarted development after the initial reaction but cant do much with EA overlords breathing down your neck

Beating game on normal doesn't unlock you get for beating game for easy? That's dumb. Do other difficulty levels at least have different goals?

That sounds hilarious to me, as if the devs were insulting the player. Like how playing Ninja Gaiden on easy is called Ninja Dog mode. I never knew Shrek was unlockable, but I remember you can unlock a bonus trailer for Shrek as an unlockable.

The problem with Tony Hawk games, much like HoM&M, is that the series peaked with like THPS3 and there was nowhere else to go from there, so the series fizzled out.

the series got progressively better mechanically until project 8 where it got weird because it changed engines and was all next gen. then they made the final acceptable game with proving ground and then the franchise fell of a cliff to never be seen again.
and playing these games for the story is like buying chips for the flavor description on the back. they just have to put it there.

I never used to get why people hated Project 8. I played it all the time on my PS2 and it was great. But I only recently found out that the PS3 version had a different engine and went and emulated it. Its crazy how different it is, every trick and movement feels so bizarre compared to how smooth and tight it felt in the old games. Also frick those stupid ragdoll bowling missions holy shit.

Is the PS2 version different and a better game? I think Splinter Cell had the same issue.

I personally think so. The more clustered levels give a more classic feel. It uses the same engine as AW/THUG 2. It's got the same levels for the most part just slit up into chunks instead of one big one. The only real benefit the one big level did in PS3 was for the very very last super mission where you needed to combo across the whole map.
I liked the speed kick mode and boned ollie system in the PS2 one more. I wouldn't say its terrible on PS3, just different and more like Proving Grounds in feel.

THPS series up to Proving Ground has some of the best level design even Miyamoto's or Romero's levels are incompetent compared to it. Anyone who disagrees lacks highly developed spatial intelligence. Not to mention GOAT visual design of the levels too.

THUG 2 Was the peak of Tony Hawks gameplay, it has the best selection of tricks, the best maps, the best controls, the best online of any game of its era.
