Slave Knight Gael - Dark Souls

This was the best moment in SoulsBorneRingKiro history. As much of a dance as a fight.

What was the second best moment?
The worst?

I don't like Gael. I think that both Demon Princes and Midir are better fights in that DLC alone, and that Champion Gundyr is the best boss in DS3

      tldr;
He never beat Gael. Many such cases.

sucks he's stuck on shitty game

champion gundyr is also my favorite fight . I always make sure no to parry when I'm fighting him
sucks his hp is really low , especially since he's supposed to be a late game boss , usually optional bosses tend to be harder

For me it was Friede. Low poise boss with lots of options for stagger

      >and that Champion Gundyr is the best boss in DS3
Champion Gundyr is literally Gael junion without rollcatch miracles and ballista

I don't like Midir that much. I think the Demon Prince phase of that fight was a lot better. I played DS3 for the first time after Elden Ring, and Elden Ring has those standard dragons which were all basically baby Midirs so I had some training ahead of time. Seriously, maybe it was just a "you had to be there" moment, but I do place Midir just barely above those. Now granted, that's a good ranking for dragons, but I liked Placidusax more.
DS3 DLC Boss ranking would go like
      >Gael > Friede > Demon Princes > Midir > Spears of the Church > Champion Wolf Gravetender man

literally just a fight against the camera

    >it's another episode of fromgay describing a boss fight like a 'dance'

Monster Hunter fights are much more deserving of the "dance" title. Once you've mastered a hunt, you weave through the monster's attacks, placing attacks right where the monster will be, using both your and the monster's animations to the fullest extent. Dark Souls fights are closer to turn-based fights, where you roll/block then get your turn to attack in a 'proper' fight. Elden Ring has more tools to avoid this, like jumping attacks, low-profiling, and weapon arts with movement (Bloodhound Fang, Bloody Helice), but still falls into a similar category. I think the reason this happens is because the 'best' Souls fights are always the ones that are player-sized, which of course have the smallest and most concise hitboxes, leaving you not as much room to 'dance.'

Monster hunter fights have also been described as turn-based, especially with older games where there's clear openings where you're supposed to come in with a swing

lol you must be a worldbab
Old MH isn't a dance. It's extremely slow and deliberate with a great many outright time wasting enemy moves you cannot engage with such as Rathalos flying around and Plesioth stalling in the water (pre 3). This isn't necessarily a bad thing mind you but there is absolutely no such thing as quick rhythmic, no downtime dodge>strike>dodge>strike >strike in the older games outside of maybe dual blade demon dashes on specific enemy patterns.

Guilty as charged. Forgive me for talking about something I don't really know about.

Monster Hunter is a test to see how fast you can slaughter the monster since they are very reactive to your attacks. A good player, figuratively, RAPES the monster with proper setup.

    >Hear this guy get talked up.
    >Let epic "Your dark soul.." quote
    >Best boss fight ever

I felt nothing, was just the next boss who happened to be harder than the rest. Same phenomenon with Bloodborne and that half horse dude. Shit gets talked up all the time as le best fight / quote ever and its just like any other fight. Nothing cool happens.

    Cool shit.
I'm glad we got to get the paint for that lovely and quiet world. Shame we never got to see it, but I guess a video game in a gentle place wouldn't fit Dark Souls.

Honestly Godric the Grafted. He had a massive amount of build up. You fight this lumbering tower of arms and legs and then he cuts an arm off and attaches a dragon to it.
    >Forefathers one and all, bare witness!
It really makes it out like he's ascended to god hood by obtaining a dragon part.

It ironically hits even better than Godfrey ripping his armor off and showing you that he doesn't need anything to kill you.

Sekiro shouldn't be in the list, completely different game.
My top 3 are all from DS3
    >Gael
    >Soul of Cinder, him switching stances etc was really cool
    >Sister Friede
    Other than that, maybe Mohg.
Worst were the ER bosses where they throw 2 or 3 of the same boss at you.

it's Miyazaki's fault and his insistence of putting le berserk references in every game he directs

I wish he'd get out of the way already and put some other director in charge to make a souls game from scratch, Miyazaki's shit just feels formulaic at this point

I replayed Dark Souls III a while back and it was shorter than I remembered. It took me a couple of days and I remember spending an afternoon learning and beating the nameless king which was fun. I didn't touch the dlc though, I probably should now.
